I have deleted syncd photos from google photos and trash both now that photos are not available in my gallery as well. How to get recover those photos.

Answer:

Hi Amit Modi 2767,

Once your photos have been permanently deleted then you won't be able to get them back from Google Photos, first you'll need to check to see if they're still in your bin. You can find out how to do this by following the instructions at this link here.

There are apps that you can use on Android that may be able to restore deleted files, if you click this link here it'll take you a Play Store search for restoring deleted photos, you'll be able can find the highest rated apps to see if they help.

As a final attempt to get them back, you could follow these instructions and contact the Google Drive Team:
https://www.google.com/appserve/mkt/p/AFnwnKUsl-F_t0TUyIXrkfObI--uJtlfnEqPpLbeAP2-6U45llAcvRDGpWldi39hQWLt01HdYzieEvV2WG2_dY6lzxpovqAlFkWYvfVa_x0mC8kDUnz7r2AGs_-A5J1fULgzXWGY2iheDap39g

I hope you manage to find your photos, good luck.

Question: Is it possible to see the log or history of actions so I can see what ip accessed my photos app?

I somehow lost an album and I don't know how. I want to know if I accidentally deleted it.

@Alexander
There is no log and deleted albums leave no trace unless shared people start to complain that they get a 404 error because their link is dead.
Thereby it also is easy to delete an album by accident, but you alsoscan have deleted the originals in the mainstream by thinking that they are not needed anymore.
But albums on Google do contain references to these originals only - no copyfiles.
Sorry to tell this.

PS: but if you are talking about device folders it is a different thing, because an emptied folder is not shown but will come back as soon as one picture flows in again.

My photos were previously synced from the Mac Photos app to Google Photos. I am afraid that as my laptop can no longer be switched on, the photos would be deleted from the cloud as well?

Answer:

Hi there,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

Just to let you know, the photos of your Google Photos gets saved to the cloud. Therefore, even if your MacBook is damaged, you'll still be able to access the photos through photos.google.com.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Deborah Harland

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Are you trying to send the videos through Google Photos sharing route? Or, something else?

If you use Google Photos to share, the app sends a link only. Then, the recipient can access the video through that shared link.

Question: How do i hide photos?

To hide photos

Hi Dante,

Google Photos doesn't provide a full solution for hiding photos.

As a workaround you may move the photos to the Google Photos Archive. However, it will still be possible to access the photos by browsing the Archive, searching for the photos, or browsing the albums they are in. For more information see https://support.google.com/photos/answer/7362432?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1

I looked everywhere. But I don't get what went wrong. I had my back up on, but it just did not back up all the photo's. Im missing random dates, and from 21 june almost nothing!

unfotunately my phone got stolen the 13th of July, so I really lost these photo's and I'm heartbroken about it. Please help me if there is something I can still do, if I really did everything and help me to make sure this will not happen again.

Answer:

This may not apply, but photos are stored based on date.  If photo has an old date for whatever reason (date & time set wrong, etc.) it will be stored with other photos near that date.  If thief had access to unlocked phone or was able to unlock phone they could delete items, till you change password or other measures.

Answer:

Hello,

Thank you so much! The date and time on my phone was correct. And I dont have that many photo's in my back up, so I know they are not somewhere else. The thief put the phone off the second he had him. So I really think he just wanted the phone, and could not care less about the info on it.
So still dont know why he did not back up :-(
But thank you so much for thinking with me and trying to help!

Answer:

This link may or may not help. Note the link has different procedures for a Computer vs Android vs iPhone & iPad.   If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there. ...it will stay in your trash for 60 days. You have a trash can on the phone and another different trash can in Google Photos in the cloud. Only stuff deleted inside of GPhotos in the cloud would be in that trash can. I never empty trash can, it will do it for you. Also check Archive (3 lines button top left corner).

Info only:
Google Photos app has a sync button that has to be turned on inside of the app, but your phone also may have a master sync button which also must be turned on. The master button is usually grouped with other master buttons such as Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS/Location etc. Sometime people accidentally turn off the master sync button in error. The master sync button controls all apps. If you turned off sync for days, then turned it back on, it would go backward and get everything. You would be in sync again. --- On your phone using Google Photos app select a single photo then 3 dots then you may be able to select "deleted from device". It won't let you do this if the photo wasn't backed up. --- GPhotos app only backs up photos in the camera folder. It you create other folder names or another app puts photos in another named folder you have to tell GPhotos app to also back up these other folders. Folder names such as download, messages, screenshots, etc. See Device folders (3 lines button top left corner). --- Backup / Sync only works when you turn your Wifi on, unless you tell it to also use cellular Data.  Sync doesn't work if screen is off/sleeping unless you tell Wifi to stay on during sleep (phone must be capable) . If you take pictures daily you have to turn Wifi on at some point to start and give it time to back up completely daily.

Answer:

Thank you so much for your answers.

Already looked everywhere, did not delete photos myself and they are not in archive. Sync was on all the time...

It looks like google photos sometimes just stopped backing up. And its driving me crazy why...because of that I lost so many holiday pictures, still hurts.

Like I said, the backing up is so random! February it backed up everything, March and April about half, nothing in May, and sometimes in June. It even backed up photos from the 21th of June, but not from the 20th!! Just cant understand what went wrong.

I recently deleted about 200 photos from google photos and realized the day after that I still needed them. I attempted to restore them by using the Google photos trash and selecting all deleted photos to restore. Once I attempted to restore, not only did I not get back all the photos I had deleted, several hundred more photos that I had never touched were deleted from early January to this week. I have used numerous photo recovery apps and google suggestions but have had no success. The photos must be in some type of cloud or Google storage because they were randomly deleted without my permission

Hi LC,

>>> I’m trying to free up space on my iPhone 7 it is at its max I need more room I want to save my pictures in a back up spot I just need help on Where to back them up and then delete the photos from my phone itself

IF, and it is a big IF..  IF you are using Google Photos on your phone and can see all or most of your images at https://photos.google.com/u/0/ , then you should see either "Free up space" or "..# items to delete from this device" when you tap on the round icon (or profile photo) in the upper right hand corner of the Google Photos app.

If you are not already using the Google Photos app you might want to just use a cable to backup your images to a computer or USB drive.  If your phone is already critical on space, any backup application might not work correctly because it might require ~workspace~ to organize the data prior to transmitting it.

The approach which you use for backing up your images is a big decision which may have long term consequences in terms of process or ongoing costs.   If you have all Apple devices, it is POSSIBLE that using iCloud MIGHT be a better alternative for you.  Do NOT use iCloud Photo backup and Google Photos Back up and sync simultaneously, or you MIGHT have data loss issues.

No matter what you do, you want to always have important images stored in more than one location.  In other words, if you copy your photos from a phone to a computer then backup the data from the computer (and confirm that the data is where you expect it to be) prior to deleting the images from the phone.

Here is a video with three options:

Note:  The presenter speaks quickly, you can change the playback speed in the YouTube settings. Also note, I think he overly simplifies the Google Photos approach a bit.

In case this is useful...

Select the platform of interest (Android, Computer, of iPhone & iPad)..
Honestly, there is something awkward about each of the approaches (though I have not used all of the approaches recently, so they may have changed).

Repeating for emphasis: "No matter what you do, you want to always have important images stored in more than one location.  In other words, if you copy your photos from a phone to a computer then backup the data from the computer (and confirm that the data is where you expect it to be) prior to deleting the images from the phone.

When we delete something from the phone, the sync action in the app removes it from the cloud also & vice versa.
However, since you emptied the bin or trash, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.

However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps

I got two notifications from Google photos. I viewed one. For some reason not sure from system end or my end, I share that notification pic to my whatsapp. I went back and found the other notification which was a 11 year old reminder from my google pics is missing.

I tried other means to get that notification again, and directly view the same and share with my contacts.

The latest Android 11 has a feature to retain the notification history for twenty-four hours.

The older versions allow creating a widget on the home screen to see the history.

Nevertheless, you will find apps on the Play store which capture & retain the notification history for a longer period. You can try any of those.

What you mentioned is the design feature of the "Sync" function.
Sync means that your photo library stays consistent across all devices that are signed in to your account with Google Photos.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.

Nevertheless, any deleted picture is retained in the bin for sixty days,
However, you have emptied the bin or trash too. Then, there is no way to recover the deleted pics through Google Photos.

Regretfully, the Google Photos app doesn't provide any feature to track the origin of a photo.

At most, you can know the date & time, location where that was captured & make of the camera through the file information. However, the sender can remove this data before sharing a picture leaving no clues about the source.

Question: Downloading my photos is so slow it's barely working, tbh I'm ready to give up. I

All I'm wanting is to down load my photos without nights googling why it's doing so such slow .

Hi Gary,

>>> All I’m wanting is to down load my photos without nights googling why it’s doing  so such slow .

This is really not normal on iOS (assuming decent infrastructure).

Some things you might try:
  • Close all recent apps and restart the phone.
  • Make sure that your iOS and Google Photos app are up-to-date.
  • Do a speed test and pay particular attention to the upload speed.
  • Make sure that your phone is not critical on storage space (some space may be needed to organize an upload).
  • Try a different Wi-Fi connection (sometimes routers support multiple different bands)

Good luck!  Dougsap (volunteer Google Photos user)

Hi again Gary,

I just noticed after replying that you said downloading.  My response was really about uploading. I virtually never download large numbers of images to my iOS devices so I don't really have any suggestions, but my initial ones can't hurt.

Others are welcome to jump in with additional comments.

Sorry for your loss.

Nobody here has access to anybody's private data or photos.

I am not sure that the following link is up-to-date, but it will probably get you closer to what you need.

Question: The app is getting closed automatically whenever j open it

Hello,

What device and Android version are you using? If the device has a microSD card try removing the card and opening the Google Photos app again.

Question: How to hide and unhide photos

Want to learn how to hide or unhide photos

Hi, Mani MS

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Google Photos app doesn't have any feature to hide or unhide a photo.
You can archive pictures to hide from the gallery view.
However, the pic will continue to appear in searches or album views.

My backup storage is getting full , closer to its free limit ( i.e. 15 GB ) . But there are some unnecessary photos that should not have been backed up . In this case , I want to delete or clear those photos from the backup storage and  make some space to back up new necessary photos . Is this process possible ? Please let me know in detail .

Answer:

Hi, Souvick Show

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, can you please clarify one point?
Are you backing up your pictures in original quality? Or, high-quality?

That will help in deciding the further action.

Answer:

Hi,  Souvick Show

Thanks for your reply

If so, then you can delete the unnecessary photos & which should create some space.

However, after deleting the pics, do not forget to empty the trash or bin as the content in
the bin also counts towards space.

But, keep one point in mind. Emptying the bin is an irreversible action. Once done, nothing can be recovered through Google Photos.

Answer:

Sorry Sir , I think I couldn't make you understand my problem . Actually , there are some unnecessary photos already backed up and I want to delete them from the backup storage so that I can make there room to back up new pictures . Please let me know if it's possible . Thank you !

Answer:

Sorry to note my reply didn't convey the expected advice.

I shall try to clarify that with a specific example as below.
Here are three photos named A, B & C & their sizes

Here is what happens when we delete each of those

Delete "A" from Google Photos & remove it from the trash also. you get 50 MB space released.
At the same time, through the sync action, "A" gets removed from the phone also.

"B" is to be retained - No further action.

Delete "C" from Google Photos & remove it from the trash also. you get 70 MB space released. The pic is not there on the phone, no sync action.

In this way, by removing "A" and "C" from Google Photos (which are in original quality) and after removing from the trash or bin, you stand to get 120 MB space released on Google Drive.

So, your question is whether it is possible to recover space on Google drive by deleting unwanted pics in Google Photos. The answer is yes provided you are storing the pics in original quality.
But, if the storage is of high quality, you stand to gain nothing.

Please check your backup selection beforehand.

Hi ree m,

Thank you for posting to the Google Photos Forum today,

So this is because WhatsApp doesn't use the default Android file picker, what you can do is download the picture you want to use on WhatsApp first from Google Photos, and then select it in WhatsApp.

If you have anymore follow up questions, please let us know.

Have a lovely day 😊

Answer:

That's not anymore, but may depend on your Android-version (I still have 10).
In WA you can hit the paperclip to get into WA's own gallery, but if you hit the 3 dots right-up, you may have direct access to Google Photos and even to your albums on Google Photos.

So obviously I want to buy a photobook, but with most of the pictures having the full page layout. When I go to the "edit page" option to make the picture full page it cuts a tiny bit of the sides of my picture (which I'm fine with cause it's only a tiny bit), but when I leave the edit page option to go back to the "edit book" or book preview, the picture gets cut even more (which I don't like and makes me worried). For those who have bought the google photobooks before, will the final page print the way I set it in the "edit page" option (with the tiny cut) or will it print the way in the "edit book" option (with a bigger cut)???

Please help, and thank you in advance. This book will be gifts to my friends and so I want it to be perfect and show the whole picture and not cut the sides.
