Did you delete the photos and videos on your phone inadvertently?
When we delete something from the phone, the sync action in the app removes it from the cloud also & vice versa,
Nevertheless, any deleted picture is retained in the bin for sixty days,
If your delete action is recent, you will find all the items in the bin. The bin icon becomes visible in the library view. Tap that & recover everything available in the bin.
However, if your delete action has already crossed sixty days, or you have emptied the bin inadvertently, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.

However, the problem with the Google Photos app remains.
To resolve that, please follow these steps.
- On your Android phone, open the Settings.
- Tap Apps and notifications.
- Tap Show all apps.
- Tap Google Photos.
- Tap Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear storage.
- Next, uninstall the Google Photos app.
- Power off the phone & then restart.
- Install the latest version of the Google Photos app through the Play Store.
Log into your profile & see whether that helps to overcome the current problem.
Nevertheless, if the free internal memory on your phone is insufficient, some apps can behave erratically.

After reinstalling the app, please go into aeroplane mode. Turn off WIFI.
Then tap to open the app.
If you are succesfull, please stop backup & sync through your connected account.
Close the app, come out of the aeroplane mode, resume all the data services & then check whether you can open the app once again.

A "live album" is an album where photos from selected "people albums" are automatically added.
If you want an album with all pictures taken with your phone, you will have to create such album yourself, and update regularly. You can do that for example from Library > Photos on device > Camera (or something similar on your phone).

- Open Google Photos
- Tab Library
- Tap the desired folder under Photos on device
- Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
- You can also long press and stroke down to select a batch
- Tap the 3 dot menu top right
- Tap Move to folder
- Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos view and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if deleted using the Google Photos app.
You should also have a setting in your camera app which saves new photos to the SD card.
