Thanks for the recommendation. I was able to find and restore the album yesterday by randomly clicking around in the Goggle Photos app on my phone. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly what got me there, but it was something in album history. But the good news is that I found the album, added another 20 pictures and sent it off to be printed. I will save your suggestion in case something like this happens again. For me, the take-home lesson was to save the album when it's offered, if it looks at all interesting. Easier to delete later than to retrieve.

Then I have to re-escalate the problem. But it is weird, because you seem to be the only person in the world complaining about this very specific behavior.

However: I do think that you are using a basically wrong method for sharing with the same persons so frequently and in that way you must have an endless list of shared tiny albums which never can be cleaned-up unless the shared persons have the habits to store your photos in their own library.

You can start an album which is used during the full year for adding new photos and then the receivers automatically are notified that you have added some and they can view them immediately.

PS: my pictures always are uploaded (backup complete) before I start with creating an album. But when I do that on the Library-page, I have to add picture and when I close the album, it is blank for some time until one of the pictures appears as an albumcover after re-starting the app. And then I can start sharing without any problems.

I would agree that I do not have any continuously sharing albums. They are event driven. "Jessica's 50th birthday Party". They are then shared with everyone at the party. Most of those folks won't upload the pics to their collection, although some will. I would think this would be normal. "Annual Christmas Party 2018". It is that I am maybe too fast in sharing and not letting all the pictures upload from my phone before creating and filling the album. The pictures show in Google Photos as they would have to add them. But maybe they are not all uploaded fully since I am using original size.

When you start on the Library-page with creating a new empty album, then you need to add selected photos to it and by doing this, you also are backupping them (if that has not happened yet). Then you need to name the album and close the app for a while. Thereafter you will see the new album on the Library page and then you can start to share it. This method may prevent your problem.

Goodmorning

A normal album is used by you only - just as an aid for thematically organising your large collection and for viewing a slideshow in chronological order etc. And for the ease of downloading to your computer.

A shared album can have additional settings that others can add their own photos and comments & likes if they have a Gmail-account.

If you start a new album on the Library-page, it is not asked if the album needs to be shared and if you don't touch the Sharing-button, it stays a normal (private) album.

PS: you still have not described how you make a new shared album on your iPhone or iPad. That is important to know if I start a re-escalation of your problem (it is no problem for me because I work in the browser of my laptop and then everything I see there is backupped correctly).

First try the Library to make sure that Backup is selected.

If that looks OK perhaps this is an issue with WhatsApp media settings?

Media auto-downloaded When connected on WiFi is a typical setting and should show at minimum, Photos

It looks as if you are trying to upload into Google Drive, but that is not the same as Google Photos.

If you are logged in to Google Photos and you have switched-on the backup via settings under your profile, you should see the pictures which also are shown in the Camera-album in your Gallery and these will get uploaded to Google.

But you may have more albums in your Gallery and then these should be present as folders under Pictures on device in the Google-app and then you need to decide which folders you would have backupped also, because then you can open them and switch-on backupping.

You can easily delete Draft Photobooks by going to "Photo books" in the 3 line menu (or https://photos.google.com/u/0/photobooks on a computer) select the draft album, go to the 3 dot menu and select "Delete draft").

Someone suggested Google Photos. I figured out how to create albums and share the links. However, when I go to the link, it wants me to sign in with a google account (which I have, but not everyone does).

My question: Is there a way for "non-google" users/emails to upload pictures to a shared account? If there is not, does anyone know of a different photo sharing app that has this feature. Thank you!

This non sharing created by Google pictures is plain wrong. It ties your own memories to the web. Storing them in a external storage simply creates a cloud storage only accessed with Google..
