Question: How can I delete pictures from my phone's memory card?

On my Samsung Galazy S3 I can't delete pictures from my memory card through the Gallery-program. There is simply no delete option. There once was, but it wouldn't delete the pictures. I have tried connecting to my computer with cable and gone in to the files to delete the pictures, they are promptly deleted, showing no picutes in the folder on the computer and on the phone. Then they reappear by the next time the gallery or folder is opened.

I figured it might be some kind of cancer.. ehm.. I mean, syncing, going on that I didn't know about. I found out about the google photos application. The one on my phone didn't work. So I downloaded the new one, where to my horror I found all my photos that I never uploaded. After figuring out how to delete them from there, I threw them in the bin. They reappeared shortly after. I threw them in the bin again and emptied the bin, agreeing to delete them permanently. They still reappear.

I do not know what else to do. I almost took a hammer to the thing in frustration, MY pictures that I do not want, being forcibly stored. What can I do?

So long as you don't want the images saved anywhere, not on the cloud and not on the phone, you should delete the images from everywhere by selecting and deleting the images (using Trash icon) from within the Google Photos App, then emptying the Trash (which is permanent).

Thanks, but it doesn't work. I already tried it. Tried again now after turning syncing on, which I've never had on before, and it still does not work.

I've never used the app, but my pictures are there for some reason. And I can't delete them, as they don't disappear when I do so. Even when throwing them in the trash and emptying the trash.

Are the images staying in your Google Photo library, or just in the phone's Gallery using its own software? If the latter, you should get in touch with Samsung (or delete using a File Manager app). If the images can't be deleted even from the Google Photos App, this is a mystery so report back and we can keep working on the problem.

I'm afraid it's just a game of patience at this point in time. I too, have a Pixel 2 and don't have the feature yet - while friends of mine do. I guess we're on the last of the rollout list yet to come.

Hang tight, make sure you have the updated version of the app. Given the rollout was in late May, we should be receiving this feature shortly.
