I'm going through the "results" given to me in the area of Google Photos where Google has gathered photos as a match for specific people. I was able to figure how to remove specific pictures from those search results. However, I have not been able to figure out how to trigger Google to search through my photos again because I have a lot of pictures that have not been gathered up for individuals. I have not been able to figure out how to maybe possibly add to the search results. Is there a feature or setting that I am missing that allow me to manually trigger that photo search feature? I'm trying to add pictures to specific individuals results and I've noticing that a lot of pictures aren't getting in. I'm trying to update and organize my photos for a special family project without having to manually go through over 10 years of photographs to add them to a folder. Thank you for your response. I will have to take the time today and go look at the places you had referred to. I really wish that Google would get it's Photos area caught up with the times. I have tested out many different storage clouds that offers so many editing and organization features that Google does not have. And the more you look around at all the available storage clouds we have now a days all the features unavailable with Google seem to be pretty standard with other companies. With Google being such a large and reputable organization...well...one would think they'd want to stay on top of the competition. I know that the company has been bringing many great things to the table over the years. Guess I'm forced to keep waiting for them to get with the program with this platform *sighs heavily* I'm open to any suggestions, recommendations, or ideas that could possibly save me several weeks worth of hours of sorting and organizing years of media. Sure wish I understood more about technology and the internet when I started my account. I could have saved myself a butt ton of time & aggravation LOL

When you see a pencil to the right of People in the info of a photo, you can edit the people tags, for example manually add a photo the correct group. But unfortunately (and for reasons we don't know or understand) that option is not available in all regions, for example not in European countries for accounts where Face grouping was activated after it became available. I also do not know of a way to "trigger" scanning of the photos.
You can create a new album with the photos found in the People section, delete the wrong ones and add missing ones, but it's a manual approach. To my knowledge "Live albums" where photos of one or more selected people are automatically added are also missing for the accounts having no edit option.

Hello Meagan,
Storage will only decrease if Original size photos, Storage Saver photos, or unsupported videos are deleted.
It may be possible to Recover storage at https://photos.google.com/settings which compresses and replaces Original size with Storage Saver size.
Head over to https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement This should give a clue on where the storage is being used. Large photos and videos >5MB are listed and can be reviewed by tapping on the thumbnail to open then select the (i)nfo icon to see more detail about the files.
If you delete 1000s of High Quality photos uploaded prior to June 2021 then no storage will be recovered because they do not use any storage.
All photos added after June 1st 2021 can be found at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ and all use storage unless added as part of Partner sharing.

Hello Christy,
Please try deleting the Google Photos app, restart the phone (Camera roll photos will be safe) then reinstall. Don't turn on Backup & sync at first to see if you get a normal view of you Camera roll photos.
Turn on Backup to see if it has made a difference, and if not pinch stroke the screen with two fingers to see the month view, select the whole month and use the option to Backup now. Photos already backed up will not be re uploaded.
One thing to look out for is large videos which might be overloading the app, if you have any of these it might be worth trying them individually.
Sorry to be so vague, but this is a relatively new issue for iOS and we do not know what the problem is.
If there is no change
- How many GB of photos do you have on the device/iCloud
- Have you recently migrated to this new phone
- What was the trigger for this behaviour Updated Google Photos or updated iOS
- Which Google Photos version are you using
- Which iOS build are you running

There is no way to force / manually add to the People Album, it is automatically created.
All you can really do is make sure there are decent quality photos of the person in you Google Photos library - more are better than fewer.
If you are interested in adding a feature to manually add people, you can communicate directly with the Development Team from the iOS Google Photos App by:
1. Go to the 3 line menu
