The Article About This Issue ... Might Help You.If you want to get a deleted item back, check your trash to see if you can get it back. Photos or videos that you previously backed up and then deleted are kept in your Trash for 60 days.
Can't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video is not in the trash, you cannot restore it. You cannot restore the photo in the following cases:
If you moved the photo to the trash more than 60 days ago. If you moved the photo to the trash and emptied your trash. If you permanently deleted the photo from the trash. If you have permanently deleted the photo from your device's Gallery app without backing it up.

The storage plans are a monthly subscription, if you stop paying the storage allowance goes back to 15GB and if you are using more than 15GB you will not be able to backup any more photos etc.
If you are not using 15GB you can stop paying at any time.

However, regretfully, your query is not related to some feature in the Google Photos app.
Did you make some changes through the Settings -> Chats -> Media visibility in WhatsApp?
Nevertheless, WhatsApp hides the media folder from visibility to other apps usually.
But, you will find directions on how to unhide that on WhatsApp FAQ pages.
Additionally,
I suggest you use some file explorer app to view the media content on your phone. If your phone has none, please install the "Files" app by Google. Next, ensure in the setting of the app visibility of hidden files. Then search all the media folders for a hidden file of zero byte size. Delete that file & that should resolve your problem.

I have backed up hundreds of photos/videos to Google Photos using my Android phone (Note 9). I can see them using photos.google.com and in the Google Photos app on my phone. I also have "Google Drive
4. Do the steps in A (Above) again.
Then take some photos, open the Google Photos App, confirm Backup Complete (or Checkmark) and see if it went to the desired account.
Remember you can always use https://photos.google.com/u/0/ from a browser to be clear what account you are looking at (see the account in the upper right corner)

Thank you the quick response. Unfortunately this didn't fix the problem.
On my app, it shows just my account, but on my mother's both our accounts are there, under backup and sync, and only her's is check marked; the option to take mine off isn't there (although it is still unchecked).
Also, when she takes pics, some of them show a cloud with a line through it, and when I tap that it says, "backing up to a different account", and has her account below that line of text.
I have created multiple shared albums for us to contribute pics to. Could that have something to do with this, is there an option that may have been checked that caused this?

If either of your phones are Android, It would probably be worth clearing the cache and data: (note: this does not delete photos from your phone or the cloud)
- on your Android device, open the Settings app
- tap Apps (or Application Manager)
- tap Google Photos
- tap CLEAR CACHE
- tap CLEAR DATA
If both of you have iPhones, about the only thing you can do is uninstall / reinstall the Google Photos app. Out of an abundance of caution I would do a manual backup first, but reinstalling ~shouldn't~ delete any original photos. When reinstalling only use one account.

And although I marked your response as it didn't help, part or it did. In checking on my mother's device, her Google Photos account was logged in with my account, but backing up to hers.
I have another question for you, but it involves both Google Photos, and Google Maps. If you can't answer that here, please let me know and I'll put in a post on the Maps help forum.

I believe, but am not sure, and really don't want to test it because I think it is a very bad idea, that you can change your Google Account on Google Maps by going to the bottom of its 3 line menu.
The reason that I feel that this is a bad idea, is that Google designs their products on sophisticated models (user / data / technology / process, etc.) which can accommodate a range of functionalities, when you try to set it up in unanticipated ways some future change (application, operating system, backend) may destabilize / break something (particularly on iOS). Problems with ~illogical~ set-ups are less likely to be caught in testing.
Can you describe why you want to have the same location history? (There may be a better way to accomplish what you are trying to do)
I am a fairly heavy Google Maps user but it might be interesting to ask your question there.

Not at all: that option shows the content of picture folders on Drive in the library of Photos.
But nothing is downloaded to your computer.
So you maybe confused with the optional GP folder in Drive which contents can be downsynced to your PC via the Google Drive option in the Backup & Sync app
I do think the other option can better be switched-off to avoid confusion on Photos.
