All the photos will get added to the destination album.

Once done, you can delete the source album.

The Google photos app is boosting the exposure on certain videos when played back on my Pixel 2 XL.  When I playback a video, it looks like the video exposure is lightened 1 to 2 stops. 

The problem is isolated to videos that are still stored on my phone, and only when played back through Google photos.  If I remove the video from storage, it plays back correctly over the cloud or YouTube.  Other gallery apps also play the video correctly.  I have cleared memory and cache of the app and the issue persists.

I understand and I know how important Google Photos is for you. Please give the below steps a try in a sequence to help resolve the issue:

• Check your internet connection (mobile data).
• Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
• Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
• Clear App data:
• Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
• Touch Apps.
• Select Google Photos in the list.
• Touch Clear data.
• Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
• Visit the Google Play Store.
• Open Google Photos.
• Touch on Update.

While there update you contact information (emails and phone numbers) so that you have recovery methods in case you forget your password or your account is compromised.

1) Create a new album from photos that have locations, I can see the locations when I click on the photo in the album.  This has always been based on my settings in the past.

2) Generate a shared link to the album.

3) Photos no longer show location information, not even the ability to modify location.

4) Photos outside the album in the timeline STILL HAVE location data.

5) Start over with #1 above

Previously, generating a shared link (#2) did not break location sharing (#3).  I have hundreds of albums created before now that still share location data, but I cannot share new albums without losing location data.

There are several approaches here:

Unfortunately,  I believe but definitely am not positive, that  High Quality photos from prior to June 1, 2021 in your old account which did not count against your storage quota will count in your new account.  If you have a large amount of older photos you might want to test this with a sample of photos, so that you go into it with your eyes wide open.  If you don't mind paying for storage (everybody probably will sooner or later but you might be able to delay it a few years).  Note; if you attempt this, I would be interested in what you find out.

 

Method C is probably the easiest, but it does not move albums.  You could combine Method C (probably first) and then Method B if albums are important to you.

 

Other opinions and ideas are welcome!

To remove pics from the phone gallery but retain the copies in Google Photos is relatively easy.

 

To do so, tap on the photo you want to remove & then slide up.

Below the photo, if you find the text "Delete from device", then tap on that. 

If not, the photo is not there on the cloud & you need to upload that first.

 

If you want to take the same action in bulk, use the option "Free up space". 

Then, the app backs up everything first & removes the originals from the device.

Nevertheless, create a local backup on some HDD before going for this action.

 

However, once the backup & sync is on, never delete the pics directly. Else, because of the sync action, you will lose both the one on the phone and the cloud at the same time.

Head over to https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement  This should give a clue on where the storage is being used. Large photos and videos >5MB are listed and can be reviewed by tapping on the thumbnail to open then select the (i)nfo icon to see more detail about files.

Delete photos/videos from Google Photos but not from a mobile device

 

When you delete a photo in Google Photos it will also be deleted from all synced devices. In practice that are only mobile devices (phones and tablets) since syncing with computers has been disabled. There are however ways to do this:

• Disable Backup and sync on the device
• Move the photo to a non-synced folder before you delete it from Google Photos. 
• Once done, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone, log into your Google Account & start deleting the unwanted pics.

Change date & time stamps

You can change the date and time stamps for photos and videos using a computer. 

When you change the date and time of your photo, the edited date and time will appear in Google Photos. But if you share it with other apps or download it, it may show the original date and time saved by your camera.

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. Place your cursor over a photo or video. To select the items you want to update, click Select.
3. At the top right, click More.
4. Click Edit date & time. For multiple selections, you will see two options:-

• • To specify a date and time for the first item and automatically adjust the dates and times for the other pics relative to that, click Shift dates & times.
  • To set the date and time for all the items you selected, click Set one date & time.

Probably you mean date & time as text down right on your photos. 

That is oldmodish and quite ugly unless for a very few and very special photos. 

You can do that with the editor in Google Photos (second icon at the bottom in an opened photo) and then choose More > text in the long row where you see the word Cropping (also important). 

But in general you can see the original date when you move-up a single photo a bit.
