No way to unmirror pictures in Google photos. I'd like to strongly suggest this basic feature to development team.

This is really needed for selfies taken over the years, which give us really bad faces. We need a way to unmirror them, invert them if you will. It'd be great if this could be one of the mass treatment feature, like rotating and clutter cleaning.

I know of Snapseed, but it is not convenient to use a 3rd party app, in particular because it doesn't keep the metadata and also creates a copy instead of editing the original.

The Google Photos app doesn't have this feature right now. However, you can do so through another app Snapseed.

To do so, please follow these steps.

Tao to open the photo
Tap Edit
Slide the menu bar with the leading tab "Suggestions" towards the left to reveal the option "More". Tap on that
Slide the menu bar with the leading tab "Markup" to reveal the option Snap seed. However, that will be available only when you have Snap Seed installed on your phone
Once in Snap Seed, tap on the Tools option in the bottom row,
On the next screen, tap on "rotate"
Now, in the bottom bar, you will see a filled and another hollow triangle juxtaposed. Tap on that.
That will create a mirror image. Save this new edit.

To turn off synchronisation, deactivate backup & sync through the settings in Google Photos.

Alternatively, change over to "Use Google Photos without account". However, that will stop showing pics which are there on cloud but not on your phonne.

The Google Photos app on your mobile device shows the device copy, just like a Gallery. That does not mean that the photo is backed up to Google Photos cloud (https://photos.google.com/).

"If I delete a photo in the Google photo, it is deleted in my device as well."

Thus when you delete a photo in the Google Photos app on your phone, you delete the device copy.

I agree that the above is very confusing till you understand how it works:

I believe, you want to move the pics to SD card.

There are multiple alternatives to move the photos in the memory of the phone to an SD card. However, moving those through the Google Photos app allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.

Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.

Open Google Photos.
Tab Library.
Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
Select photos by long pressing then, tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition to select a batch.
Next, tap the three-dot menu top right.
Tap Move to folder.
Tap New SD folder, type a folder name, then tap Create.

Note that if the photos are already there in Google Photos, this will not remove them from the Photos. Also, even if you do not select the new fold for Backup & sync, any contents thereupon will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

Most of the account recovery process relies on your account recovery information (such as recovery phone, recovery email and security questions).

Here in the Photos group we are all volunteers without access to anybody else's data or accounts.. I am not sure if there are people with special capabilities in the Account Help group but they are the experts on your situation.

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool. My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

Thank you for replying. Before receiving the new phone all of my photos were in fact backed up to Google. I'm sure they will remain there when and if I'm ever able to retrieve my old email account. As I stated, I can't remember my password / name used. Although, I know my old email address. When I use my phone number to try and recover my old email account I'm unsuccessful. This is even after clicking the forgot password button. It seems that this previous account will be history. I did opt to have it deleted if there was inactivity after four months. I'm just saddened that my account didn't sync with my new device. I've tried everything!

There is an option, but first you must explain why your photos have wrong dates.

Because if it are photos from your own phone-camera they should have correct dates and then the app is in error and then it makes no sense to edit the dates because the app must be resetted.

So a photo may look quite different in album view than it does full-window. People seem to have noticed this problem, and there is awareness that color profiles are a complicating factor, but they haven't realized that this is the root cause. Note this is not a browser problem; Chrome and Firefox apply the color profiles when rendering local copies of the photos. The fix would be to have color profiles applied consistently on the website, both in album view and single-photo-view.

Normally yes if you delete them in your gallery or in the files-app, because if you start deleting in the Photos-app, you will delete your originals as well as there copies at Google.

But it always is wise to check if you really have copies at Google, else you would end-up with nothing.

So goto photos.google.com in the Chrome-app and carefully scroll-up to your beginnings deep down.

And it always is wise to test what happens if you remove some unimportant pictures.

PS: the app has an option to free-up space on your phone, but that will delete all while most people like to keep their recent ones at hand in their simple gallery and just have the Photos-app in background for backupping automatically.

Not clear if you are selecting many in the Photos-app yourself or that you try to apply the Free-up space option in the Photos-app.

But if your phone has too less working space, that function will crash indeed because it is a heavy task.

So you need to do that yourself in your gallery (not in the Photos-app, because then you also will loose your backup-copies) starting with a few fat videos. But after checking if they were backupped correctly at photos.google.com in the Chrome-app.

Eternal question, but your own eyes only.

Google Photos rejects pure duplicates, so what you may see are look-alikes but with tiny technical differences only a human being can judge what to keep and what to delete.

It also can be that you have the bad habit to shoot many instead of one good one only :-)

You can do this: go through the data cleansing for your device: go to Settings - Apps - delete Google Play Services and Google Photos data, then delete the cache in the Storage section. You can also reinstall the Photos application: delete the application or its updates and then download it again to your device.
