I was having real issues with google photos working out who was who with my kids. I understand the AI needs to learn, but I've been manually changing the tags for some time with the system seemingly not learning.

With this in mind, I thought maybe a reset of the face tagging would help. I turned off face grouping in the morning, and reapplied it in the evening. That was a few weeks ago now and I'm yet to see any faces reappear within search.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am afraid that turning OFF/ON was not a good idea: it just has to start again from scrap. You can be lucky, or you will have to be patient.

Thank you, feared that was the case. Any ideas how long it takes to re-index faces? Seems to be taking a long time, though I do have +200,000 photos 🤔

Do not try sending a video as an attachment.

Share the link through Google photos instead.

The recipient can access the link & watch the video.

Yes I know how to create the link but when I create the link and send it to Google it isn't it less protected isn't it more accessible for other people if I'm trying to keep it private between the one I'm doing business with or someone that is part of my family

That is nonsense, but you also can paste that link in a normal mailmessage to your businesspartner. 

Google Photos is private also and only the selected parts are visible to shared people, but if that special video is between your family pictures, you should archive it prevent that you are showing or sharing it to other people then your businesspartner. 

Spent more attention to the Google Photos app, because sharing pictures & videos via Text ruïnes their quality and strips their original data, so they always cause problems in serious collections. But sending a link via Text (or mail) can do no harm and is just as private as the receiver uses that link for private use only.

The Google Photos app does not contain any photos and seeing them in the app does not mean they are backed up. You are just seeing the device/gallery copy with the app acting as a portal.

 

Photos actually uploaded to Google Photos can only be seen at the Google Photos Backup location - Tap here to confirm what is happening.
