Scenario B: If you upload your original photos in Original Quality.  Then subsequent opt to free up space by changing from Original Quality to High Quality, all your original photos on your PC will be replaced with "High Quality" images.  You will LOSE your original photos.

These are currently the 2 known scenarios that I'm aware of.  I'm sure there are other situations now or in the future which may lead to inadvertent loss of your original photos since it's a 2-way sync.

The casting feature in the Google Photos app is not gone. Most often, when the cast icon is not visible it's because:

• The smartphone is not connected to the same WiFi network as the TV
• The smartphone is not connected to WiFi at all (WiFi is disabled)
• The TV is not connected to WiFi at all

If you're certain the TV has the capability to receive the casting, you should double-check all the WiFi details for both your phone and the television. They both need to be connected to the same network.

There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Good question, I don't think you can. I suggest downloading your favourites to your computer. Then deleting everything then re-uploading your favourites.

 

This is a bit of a work around but does what you've asked for.

I do not know of an easy way. If you do not have (too) many photos you could select photos without star in https://photos.google.com and delete them. 

Assuming that this is not what you want, you can 

1. Save all photos in https://photos.google.com/search/_m8_Favourites somewhere else, preferably in at least two places, for example:
• Downlad to a computer. See this link.
• Add to an album, share the album and add the photos to the library of another account. It is recommended to add them immediately to an album. The photos should be on top in https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ . Advantage of this method is that it also saves "Descriptions" added in Photos, and changed dates.  
2. Empty the trash bin at https://photos.google.com/trash. 
3. Select and delete the photos with star. They should be added to https://photos.google.com/trash. Do NOT empty the trash again. See here to see how to select multiple photos.
   
4. Now add all remaining photos in https://photos.google.com to albums. You can add up to 20,000 photos or videos to an album. The reason why you should do it is that, when you delete the photos now, they will also be in the trash bin, and it will be impossible to find the starred ones. Photos in the bin seem sorted by "Date taken" instead of "Date deleted" which is pretty stupid. 
5. Restore the favorite photos from https://photos.google.com/trash. When all goes well the photos should go back to albums, keep descriptions etc added in Google Photos. In case things do not go well (I never tried this) you still have the backup(s) made in point 1. 
6. Open the album(s) with "non-starred photos" that you made in point 4, select all photos, click 3-dots > Move to bin. 
   
7. Ready !

I did not see Mark's reply when I posted mine. I just want to point out the differences:

• Descriptions added in Google Photos and changed date/times will be lost. I sometimes change date/time for correct sorting. If that may affect you, you better backup in another Google account (see under my point 1)
• You only save edited copies. The originals get lost. If you want to keep the originals in Google Photos (allowing to undo edits) you may prefer my complicated method. If you do not want to keep them, you can skip points 2-6 in my reply and use one of the methods of point 1. 

If you do not suffer from any of the above, Mark's method is probably the easiest.

Dit forum is in het Engels, maar ik kan je in onze eigen taal antwoorden. 

Zelfs zonder sync aan zou je nieuwe foto's die jezelf hebt gemaakt, meteen op de Foto-pagina van de app moeten zien, dus er moet iets mis zijn met de app - maar waarom de ontvangen WA-plaatjes dan wel? Maar zie je de foto's die je zelf hebt gemaakt dan wel in WA? 

Als je geen andere Fotogalerie hebt, kun je even het doodsimpele "Google Gallery Go" installeren vanuit de Playstore, want daar moet je de Camera-map gewoon kunnen zien, tenzij er echt iets mis is met je camera. 

Probeer dat eerst even en kom dan hier terug met het resultaat.

Apparently you have activated a warning about too less storage space on your phone, so your gallery got cleaned. But you should see them in the Google Photos app and you can share them from there with several other apps. And you may learn to create neat albums which can be shared and commented.

If you are referring to Partner Sharing, the official Google Photos Help page explains you can disable that by doing the following: 

 

Remove a partner

If you remove your partner, they can't find your photos and you won't be able to find theirs. You can still find any photos already saved to your Google Photos. You can always add a removed partner again.

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. Sign in with the Google Account that was invited.
3. At the top, click Settings   Partner sharing  Remove partner.

If you are referring to Album Sharing, the official Google Photos Help page explains the following: 

 

Stop sharing an album

If you stop sharing an album:

• Other people won’t be able to see your album.
• Comments and photos that other people added will be removed.

To stop sharing an album, remove all album members and turn off link sharing. Learn how shared album controls give your photos more privacy.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.

Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.

• Open Google Photos.
• Tab Library.
• Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
• Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
• You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
• Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
• Tap Move to folder.
• Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.

Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

Apart from any fush, you need to decide if you want to have an automatic backup for safety or not. 

If yes, go to settings under your profile-circle and switch-off all Suggestions. 

Thereafter pinch two fingers together on the Photos-page to get monthview. 

You can't have it better then that. 

But you also can create albums in which the picture are sorted chronologically and that album can be used as the source for your Photobook. 

 

PS: if you have a Windows-10 computer, you may start to use OneDrive instead - that's clean and straight. And your files are synced with your computer. You don't have that with Google Photos.
