Not happy with the answer, but it is something I will have to work around. Sad that the app industry leaves some consumers behind, those who still hold on to excellent, smooth working devices, and enjoys them as they are without upgrading. Just unhappy about the way of being some what pushed into purchasing a new device nearly annually inorder to keep older loveable apps functioning. It is apparently their approach to get us to spend more of our hard earned money annually on their new products to keep the economy moving along. Obviously we are living in a throw away society. How sad...

Not needed - you simply should choose "Use without account" under the small circle right-up.
The app always shows what you have on phone - like any gallery - so just neglect.
But you should be aware that you are responsible for safety now yourself.
Google Photos is just as private as Google Mail and Google Drive (if used).
But of course: your phone should be private also.

Thus, unless you have deleted the pics yourself, there is no other reason to lose those.

I can't seem to share new albums either directly or with a link. This only seems to apply for albums I create by manually selecting photos, new albums created by selecting a person/pet to auto update will share as normal. All my older albums shared with me are working just fine, it's just new albums I'm having trouble with

When I try sharing manually created albums, the options menu for the album disappear, and the share, and add photos buttons no longer work. The bubble to show who I have shared with is visible, but greyed out.

I have already logged out and back in, deleted and reinstalled the app, and tried to make about 6 different album. All the photos I am using are backed up, so I am really at a loss here. I attached a schreenshot of the greyed out bubble of people it's shared with, Please help!

You may have un-counted the SD card inadvertently.
To mount that once again, switch off the phone. Re-insert the memory card & try once again.

However, if the OS on your phone fails to recognise the SD card, there wouldn't be any other option but to format that.

However, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

Hey! I accidentally "freed up space" on Google Photos. I ended up losing over 3000 photos from my device. I need them back. They are now on google photos but i cant get them back. PLEASE HELP!

Answer:

Hi there,

Here is how to restore photos & videos:

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone’s gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Don't see the photo or video?

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
To find and recover photos easily, turn on back up & sync.

Question: Gombe location is identify

Some location is not identify

If the camera that took the picture was GPS-enabled, the exact location of where the picture was taken should be embedded into the image file's metadata (unless the photographer disabled this option).

If those location details are present in a picture you've uploaded to Google Photos, you can see the GPS coordinates and a small map by swiping up while looking at the picture on your Android device.

Sometimes Google Photos will attempt to estimate the location based on clearly identifiable landmarks visible in the picture and/or your location history (if there are other pictures taken around the same time that do contain GPS info, also taken with the same camera, and usually uploaded together). Keep in mind that in these scenarios the location is only an estimation and will be clearly marked as such when you view the map in the Info panel.

If the picture contains no GPS metadata, and Google is unable to generate an estimation, there is nothing that anybody can do to determine the location. It is possible that other software or apps like Google Lens may be able to provide their own estimations, but those will just be other guesses based on visual cues in the image. For pictures without detailed unique backgrounds or known topography, it's unlikely you'll ever be able to determine the location of a picture.

You can learn more about location information and how Photos handles those details by looking at the official Google Photos Help page

Hi, Valentino Teul

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The editor in the Google Photos app allows corrections in the orientation of pictures.
To do so, please follow these steps through the phone app.
  • Tap to open the picture
  • Tap on the edit icon below the picture
  • Tap on menu option Crop. See the screenshot at the bottom "Rotate".
  • Tap on the rotation symbol for achieving a turn through ninety degrees. Each successive tap will add ninety degrees going through 90 -> 180 -> 270 -> and again back to 360 degrees.
  • That will help you correcting sideways or upside-down orientations.
  • If you wish to fine-tune then move the slider above the rotation symbol. That helps in correcting slight misorientations at an increment of one degree.

I hope u guys can take my photos back because I just bought more storages to get them back.

Normally they are hold in trash for 30 or 60 days (as explained) and they also explain that the trash takes no additional storage. But if you also have emptied the trash, there are gone forever (= permanent).

Further, did you delete those through Google Photos?
If yes, then you would find the deleted pics in the bin, provided you have not emptied the bin also.

Hi. I have not deleted the photos. They still appear within Google photos. To my knowledge, the photos within camera roll are set to automatically back up. I want to be able to have my photos from 2-3 months ago visible/accessible within my camera roll. Question: What if i remove the account, the photos in android will be deleted ?

I want to clear google photos but I want my photos in android

Hello Sakshi Sangle!
Welcome to the Google Photos forum!
⚫ If you want to delete your account, but want to keep your photos:
1.) Check the Album archive, where all your photos and videos can be

2.) Go to the tool for saving information from your account as an archive - Google Takeout, and select those services, the data from which you want to save.
Read the recommendations carefully and slowly.

3.) If you have photos and videos that other people have shared with you, but you have not saved them, download them to yourself.

4.) You can also download the creative from Assistant manually.

In this case, you can always have the full amount of information from  account in the form of an archive, and you will not lose anything.

⚫ If you just want to delete your account from the device, then in this case you do not have to create an archive copy of the data, but you can log in to your account at any time, since it will be saved on the Internet.
To delete from the device, go to Settings - Accounts (including check Other accounts) and select Delete.

In this case, the photos that are in the gallery will remain on your. device.

Answer:

Chris,

The paid storage comes from your Google One subscription, not from Google Photos, so none of the volunteers in this help forum have access to your account, photos, videos, or other information.

If you are having a problem with your payment or some other account-related issue, you should contact the Google One support team.

According to the official Google One Help page, it states the following for Android:

Ask for help

Support history and wait times are only visible in the latest version of the app. Download the most recent version of the Google One app.
  1. On your Android phone, open the Google One app .
  2. At the top-left, tap Menu  Support.

The below is the text appearing on the official help page.
You can change the date and time stamps for photos and videos using a computer.
When you change the date and time of your photo, the edited date and time will appear in Google Photos. But if you share it with other apps or download it, it may show the original date and time saved by your camera.
  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Place your cursor over a photo or video. To select the items you want to update, click Select.
  3. At the top right, click More.
  4. Click Edit date & time. For multiple selections, you will see two options:-
    • To specify a date and time for the first item and automatically adjust the dates and times for the other pics relative to that, click Shift dates & times.
    • To set the date and time for all the items you selected, click Set one date & time.

Hello Thomas Bonner!
Welcome to the Google Photos forum!
Your question has nothing to do with the Photos service.

Question: I bought a new pixel and lost my Google photo albums I'd created. Suggestions where to find them?

Looked under all my accounts

If you have installed the same Gmail-account as in your former phone, you should have lost nothing if you log-in with that account in the Google Photos app.
But you seem to use the word "albums" in a wrong way: you probably mean the device-folders straight under Picture on device like "Camera" etc. These will not get filled with old photos, but with new ones shooted on your Pixel.
It is a general misunderstanding that Google Photos download into a new phone. You only see what you have in cloud at photos.google.com and as long as you have not created real albums on that cloud, you will see back your photos and videos only on the Photos-page (hopefully).
Sorry, but Google is not clear about that either - even if you would have read "getting started".

PS: and having more then one account even makes this hopelessly complicated and confusing because the account used in the backupsetting determines what you have in cloud now, while you may use another account for viewing what you have put in another cloud with your former phone or camera.

Question: Print photo From downloaded file?

I'm trying to print a photo in my stored file but not given the option to do it. How can I print it?

First you have to install a printer-app that is compatible with your wireless homeprinter from Canon or HP, perhaps another brand from the Playstore.
Then restart the phone, switch-on your printer and verify that it is connected to your network.
Then in Google Photos open the photo, tap the 3 famous dots and scroll through the words under the picture until you find Print.
Don't forget to choose the right format and to insert the right size of photopaper and that you have enough inkt (printing on normal paper is useless).
Good luck, but better to order prints at a service.

Hello Ruth Williamson!
Welcome to the Google Photos forum!
In Photos, you can search: by the date of shooting (but if you edited the photos, they will be on the date when you did it), by place, by people, by color, by the name of objects (furniture, vehicles, dishes,  devices and gadgets, and the like), even with the help of emoticons, for example, a smiling person, for animals and birds, and other search queries.

Check out the articles on how to search for photos, maybe you will learn new ways to search:

I am adding a geotag using exiftool. When I go to view the image on Google Photos, it does not show where the photo was taken. When I use exiftool to see what exif data is set, I see that GPS Latitude, GPS Latitude Ref, GPS Longitude, GPS Longitude Ref, and GPS Position are all set.

Does anyone know why Google Photos is not picking up the geotag?

Answer:

That seems quite abnormal unless the picture(s) already were synced to Google Photos before you did use exiftool: then they may not have been refreshed at Google Photos.

PS: you should look to your own https://photos.google.com - not to a shared album, because then the locations maybe hided.

Answer:

PeteranDi, could you clarify what you mean by example? Do you mean an example photo, or an example of what arguments exiftool was given to geotag the photo?

Answer:

@Rinus I see the same thing, but it doesn't treat it as a location - Unknown location.

@David https://photos.app.goo.gl/qPXDG2d8J1gJ5oAD8 contains two copies along with the original.  These two were edited in GeoSetter and they display as expected.  I have seen issues before when a location on the sea is concerned. Could you try a valid place location on land to see how it goes.
