I have a hundred or so albums that I have shared at some point. I can view these albums (all of which I own) here: https://photos.google.com/sharing --but this is not a page I can share, and I don't see how I can extract album titles and URLs even if I view the page source.  All the links are available to me and I'd like to create a repository to make them all available in one shot to anyone I choose. These are all shared albums.

Answer:

I have tried extracting the list of shared albums from the page above. The HTML source is extraordinarily dense and complicated or a simple page. I tried cutting and pasting from the web page, but couldn't even get the full list of album names. I tried saving the file to disk, but that save failed. I'm in the midst of an attempt to transfer to MS OneDrive and will report here when that finishes.

Answer:

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to share multiple albums with a single link in Google Photos. The work-around is to collect the links to these albums in some place that you can share, for example a Google doc. That's extra work, but probably worth it. I do so for all albums with photos of a specific group (club).

Answer:

Thanks, Janvb. If I understand your answer, it looks like I'd have to click on each album, generate the share-link , and copy and paste the album name and share-link URL to a file. And probably to insert them into HTML so that it's easy for users to click. It's daunting because there are a couple hundred albums and several steps or each.  Going forward it would be easy to add a title and copy the share-link of one new album at a time, to an HTML page. But I'm hoping there's some way to automate what I have so far.  I can't even seem to scrape the list of album names, surprisingly.
I have Microsoft OneDrive (with enough spare space) and I'm in the process of extracting Google Photos there, including the Albums, and that might at least get me the names. And maybe the easiest way to share all my albums will be from OneDrive, but I'm waiting or the migration to finish before I can investigate that.

Answer:

I agree: the process I use is laborious when you have many albums:
  1. Go to the album
  2. Copy the album title
  3. Paste it in the shared document
  4. Go back and copy the link
  5. Paste it in the shared document
and that for each album.  I only did it for a limited part of my albums, and once the bulk is done I only need to add new albums. That is feasible. I would welcome a better method though.

I recently realized that my Google storage is full. I've been trying to delete the photos from my google photos, but when I do so it also deletes the photos from my phone. I recently backed up new photos that I didn't mean to back up and when i deleted them, it deletes it from my phone as well. I tried to turn off the back up and sync, and it still does the same thing. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max with the newest iOS, so i'm confused what the problem is?

Answer:

Hello Kathleen,

The safest way to delete from Google Photos is to delete the Google Photos app and delete the photos at https://photos.google.com/  or in bulk at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ where they are sorted by upload date. Check the trash and if 100% sure empty it (cannot be undone)

The camera roll photos will not be affected.

If you need to reinstall the app do not enable Back up & sync,
The photos will be backed up again if Backup & sync is re-enabled.

Regards,
Peter

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.
Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in the following article compiled by experts with comprehensive experience on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

Question: How can I make my photos into pdf file

I need to send documents to someone and they can only receive it from a pdf file.

Hi User 9167256131291548938,

In the Google Photos app you may print a photo and, instead of picking a printer, select the option to save the photo as a PDF file.

To do this open a photo, swipe the screen up to bring up an options screen, tap Print, and select the Save as PDF option. The Google Photos app will save to your Android device a PDF file containing the photo.

I am trying to delete photos off my phone that I no longer want every time I delete them they come right back up again I'm trying to get rid of them how do I get rid of them for good?

Answer:

Depends where you delete: if in some Gallery-app, it will be deleted forever but probably not at Google.
So better to delete in the Photos-app in its main page (it will go in trash and then you have 60 days to change your mind :-)

Each time I add some photos to the backed up folders on my mac some are uploaded to Google Photos and some join the error: "Can't add X photos to Google Photos. X photos can't be copied to Google Photos. They will continue to be stored in original quality in Google Drive using X GB of storage." It seems to be fairly random which photos make it to Photos and which only go to Drive - a mix of sizes and file types including JPG, TIF, ARW etc. Is there some way I can fix this?

Answer:

Strange to have so many filetypes :-)
But normally only JPG goes to Google Photos and maybe some RAW-types (ARW?) if compatible.
See the additional options under Change right-up in the B&S settings.

Hard to say more about.

Answer:

I have the same problem. about 1200 photos in this situation -- file types that otherwise have copied over fine. I'd like to just "ignore" the issue, but it keeps coming up, and it doesn't offer me a way out except through deleting the photos from Google Drive, which I don't want to do.

Answer:

Any update here? I get this error message at least once per day for hundreds if not thousands of files. Of course, some of that may be explained by the file type explanation in the comments here (e.g. psd files). But I also have lots of "normal" image file types affected by the error that otherwise are fine (e.g. jpg).

Answer:

I am also experiencing this. I am wondering how I can delete those photos that have been uploaded and are taking up space. I don't want them to be taking up space and would rather just delete them, but it appears as if there's no way to know which ones they are after closing that warning.

Edit: After rereading the warning, I noticed that it says the files will be stored in Google Drive, not Google Photos. So I was able to find them in there. My plan is to try deleting that whole My Computer folder in Google Drive once all my photos have finished uploading and see if that works.

I work with Social Media and I always need to download photos from other Apps, and used to find them at the Device Folders on Google Photos app. After the last update, the folders were all gone, and when I save a photo from Telegram, for example, I can't find the Telegram folder on Device Folders, or any other Device Folders.
I see some people saying that theres a .nomedia file in the folder, but there isnt. I'm not trying to backup anything, simply save images from other apps and find them using the Google Photos app.
Why suddenly I can't see them? How can I find them again on the app?

I've deleted my photos from my phone gallery, Google photos, from laptop and phone. I've emptied my thrash and re-installed Google photos. I've removed chache.
But still these selected photos keep coming up again and again.
Could you please help because I feel like I have tried everything but they just won't go.

Answer:

"These selected photos keep coming up again and again"
Where do they come up again?
  • Photos in Gallery are on the phone.
  • Photos uploaded to Google photos are in https://photos.google.com/
  • The Google Photos app on the phone shows both photos on the device and uploaded to Google Photos the active account
The info of photos may tell you where they are located.

Answer:

Hi.
You said to see where the photos were located.
Apparently they were stored on my OnePlus cloud.
So I guess they kept on coming back up.
I've deleted them from cloud. Hopefully for good..

Actually me Apni sari photos and videos google account pr hi rkhna Chahti hu but jab me photos gallery se delete karti hu to google account se bhi delete ho jati he please Esa Koi tarika bataye ki gallery se photos delete krne par bhi google par save rhe

Answer:

Hi, Vijaya Alawe

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

First, you need to go through the following due diligence will ensure everything from your phone is there on the cloud.
  • Go to the library view & tap view all on the "Photos on device" tab. In that view, no folder should have a cloud symbol with a slash on that. If you find so, please tap the folder & switch on Backup & sync.
  • Check the status of Backup & sync in settings. That should say "Backup complete".
Moreover, some social media apps hide the download folders from visibility through Google Photos.
Nevertheless, you can manage that unhiding through the settings in the respective app.

Once you ensure everything as above, you can be sure about the backup status of the photos & videos on your phone.

After that, you can go for the "Free up space" option in the app.

However, before doing so, perform this critical action. Before going for "Free up space", please create a local backup by copying the content from the phone to some external HDD or USB storage device.

Next, when the quantum of photos awaiting the free up action is too large & also the phone has very little space, the "free up space" command fails to do anything.
Also, the app may crash.

To mitigate the problem, please start deleting manually.
To do so, tap to open the photo and slide up.
Below the pic, if you find the suggestion "Backup now", tap on that first.
Once complete, tap on "Delete from device". Now, the photo will get removed from the phone storage.

Once a sizable space is free, you can try using the "Free up space" option again.

These steps will ensure your photo remains on the cloud despite removing that from your phone.

Hi everyone. I have been trying to export the google estimated location data on photos that:
1- Did not have already a metadata of the location.
2- Did not have a manually included location.

In this case, google estimates the location of the photo based on multiple factors (GPS, similar photos etc) and add that to the data.

My problem is:
I- Google does not include the estimated data do the photo metadata.
II- Even using google takeout, the json file DOES NOT include the location of photos estimated by google, it only includes the manually included location.

I'm trying to move all my google photos to another google gsuite account, as I have more storage on the later. Sharing the photos as a partner account also DOES NOT share the estimated location information, only (1) and (2) described above.

How can I export the estimated location settings?

Answer:

It seems that you analysed this very well. It looks like a choice by Google not to share or download estimated locations. I do not know of a way to export them. Sorry.

Answer:

Thanks @janvb , I am thinking about creating a script to manually extract that information from Google, as I want to move my google photos and I don't want to lose that information.

Answer:

Any luck with this? I also have many photos without locations written to the exif. I was hoping to use my locations tracked by google but cannot find an application to do this for me nor do I have the programming skills to accomplish this. Anyone have solutions or a script I can do small modifications to and execute?

I have Google Drive

I have Google Driveinstalled on win 10 for backing up photos to Google Photos.

Answer:

Hello Bill,

If there are no folders in that view then no folders are being backed up as per the screenshot online which illustrates the only folders being backed up,

However, regretfully, the video player in Google Photos doesn't offer any feature to adjust the speed of the video.
You will have to look for some proprietary video player like VLC.
