Possibly, you are looking for how to make Google Photos the default viewer for any pics visible through the file explorer.
You can indirectly do that.
Through the settings on your phone, revoke the permissions of each app that can access the media. 
Retain the permissions for Google Photos only. Then, next time you tap on any photo or video, that will open through Google Photos only.

I believe you have used the term APK erroneously.
 
Nevertheless, if you want to resolve any APK related problem, please post your query on another dedicated forum, "Stack overflow".
 
However, if you wish to understand how to delete the pics from Google Photos but retain those on your phone, here are the steps.
 
 
When you delete a photo in Google Photos it will also be deleted from all synced devices. In practice that are only mobile devices (phones and tablets) since syncing with computers has been disabled. There are however ways to do this:
  • Disable Backup and sync on the device
  • Move the photo to a non-synced folder before you delete it from Google Photos. 
  • Once done, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone, log into your Google Account & start deleting the unwanted pics.

Google photos prevent exact dublicate it might be different in some way like time, frame, shot, etc if you can just compare the about info about this. 
 
If You need to delete it manually there is no feature which can delete all the dublicate, you can try desktop website which will be easier narrow down the photos tiles, and select all the dublicate and delete.

To remove pics from the phone gallery but retain the copies in Google Photos is relatively easy.
 
To do so, tap on the photo you want to remove & then slide up.
Below the photo, if you find the text "Delete from device", then tap on that. 
If not, the photo is not there on the cloud & you need to upload that first.
 
If you want to take the same action in bulk, use the option "Free up space". 
Then, the app backs up everything first & removes the originals from the device.
 
However, once the backup & sync is on, never delete the pics directly. Else, because of the sync action, you will lose both the one on the phone and the cloud at the same time.

Since timezone is picked up automatically, if I upload few photos of the same place same time at different times, it uploads with local timezone. And that disturbs the entire sorting of the photos synced for a particular destination. No consistency and can't modify. 

So if I upload a photo when am traveling in PST, it gets updated based on that time. If I come back from vacation and want to upload few more photos of that same trip, it will upload in EST messing all the times and sync and I can't even change the timezone.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.
Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tab Library.
  • Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
  • Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
  • You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
  • Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
  • Tap Move to folder.
  • Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.
