Hi Vera,

Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!

This is a support forum with answers provided by people who don't work for Google.

What you are describing sounds very abnormal if you don't know what it is about. If you saw a charge on your credit card, contact them (probably via a phone number on the back of the card). They should have experts on dealing with issues like this who can help you.

Good luck!

Best regards,  Dougsap (volunteer Google Photos user)

Question: My photos was deleted in last 5 day what can i do?

My photos was deleted in last 5 days what I can do

Hi Vishnubhai,

Thank you for stopping by the Google Photos Help Forum.

It looks like you're trying to restore some photos from your Google Photos. If yes, please check if the photos are present in the Trash of Google Photos and restore them through the below steps:
  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  • At the top left, tap Menu.
  • Click on Trash.
  • Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
  • At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone.
    • Into the "Photos" section of the app.
    • Into any albums it was in.
But if you've already deleted the photos from the Trash from your Google Photos, there is no other way to restorethem.

That being said, if you would like to see this feature implemented in the future, I recommend leaving feedback about it through the following steps:
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Click on Menu.
  • Select Send feedback.
  • Click on Send.
The product team reviews the feedback regularly and uses it to better improve the product overtime.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Emma

I am trying to delete photos from my phone that are saved to Google photos, I have a Pixel 2. However, "free up device storage" is greyed out in settings. I had tried to use another photo storage service, but it wasn't working out so I deleted it from my phone. How do I get Google photos to allow me to delete saved photos again? Thanks.

Answer:

@Kim
Then it looks if nothing is backupped at Google at all.
Did you have checked that on photos.google.com in the Chrome-app?
Come back to report please.

Answer:

Okay, but you can't select automatic backup on the site (photos.google.com) in Chrome - you have to that in the Photos-app via settings > backup > ON (including the right account and quality).
It may take a lot of time before "backup completed"  is stated under your profile circle and then you can try to free-up space on your phone - be aware that you will have then no pictures at hand for messengers etc. unless freshly shooted.
In the system setting you can see how much free space you have on phone - if less then 5 GB you may get in troubles soon, especially when shooting movies. So take care and use free-up space more often.

When I open the google photos app, It says I need to allow access to photos in privacy but when I got to privacy in settings, google photos is not one of the apps that have requested access so how do I allow access?

Answer:

Don't understand why you want to use the complicated Google Photos app on your iPhone, but without any special settings the app should show all photos in your camerarol, but not the photos you may have hided in the Apple Photos app.
Because I can't test that quite special situation and I am not aware of any setting in the Google app under your profile which can set to neglect the hidden folder.
Sorry - hopefully other volonteers jump-in.

Question: How do I get my videos on sd card

0 I said how do I get my videos on SD card

Hi, Dave Pearson

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.
Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tab Library.
  • Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
  • Select videos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
  • You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
  • Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
  • Tap Move to folder.
  • Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

I noticed one day that my photos in my gallery were gone and needed to get them back. I tried looking in my files and trash. I found Google photos and found them but don't know how to get my photos into my gallery.

Answer:

Hi, General Hilt

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Possibly you used the free up space utility.

The free up option removes the originals of backed up pics from the phone.
That creates space to capture new photos.
Restoring the backed up pictures would be defeating the whole purpose of the free up space exercise.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.
Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Alternatively, you can install the Google One app. There is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, that will not restore the local folder structure.
There is no requirement to join Google One. The option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be helpful to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

Answer:

But you better can learn to use Google Photos as your gallery, because that one will survive your current phone and your oldmodisch gallery not. So your old gallery is no backup.

If the pictures are too large, you can shrink them down to day-view or even month-view by moving two fingers together on the screen to have a more comfortable overview.
And via the right border you easily can scroll back to the past when you have started to backup at Google.
And you can create thematic albums which also will survice your phone and can be viewed on TV via Chromecasting or shared with other neat soldiers :-)
And you will have all other private benefits from Google like searchings and showing location collections etc.
And on your next phone you simply can go on when you use the same Gmail-account.
And there is a lot of helpinfo in background.
Best

PS: fresh photos shooted still will show-up in your old gallery and can be used for social media.
But they also can be viewed and shared via the Google Photos app in much better quality and without loosing their original data.

My moms phone was hacked and had to be factory reset. She had an android and had created a google account when she got the phone. She signed into the phone with that account and all of her pictures saved to google photos on that account for several years. When the phone was factory reset, she did not remember the username nor the password of the account and lost access to all of her pictures. They mean a lot to her and I am just wondering if there is a way to see what username was tied to her phone number so we can recover the account?

How do I make the Photos app keep my photos on my SD card until they can be synced to the cloud.

Currently the Google Photos app takes up a ton of space on my phone's internal storage when I bought a nice little SD card so I hopefully wouldn't have to have issues downloading updates for my apps I need for work.

Hi, Mia 128

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The storage space allocated to you will come down to the default 15 GB, you will los access to the photos & Gmail unless you delete the extra items & bring your storage requirements below 15 GB.

Answer:

But it is not easy at all to bring down your storage needs down to far below 15 GB, because bulk deletions always are punished by Google with eternal delays before your counter goes down and we don't know how you can prevent that. So better to go on with paying to have more freedom.
Unless you clearly tell us what your main reason is.

Hi there,

Is there any error message that is appearing when you try to open the app?
Could you please tell me what's your iPad model and iOs version as well, please.

Answer:

Hi  Susan,

Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!

Clear cache and data are available in Android but not in iOS because (I am guessing / assuming) Apple restricts other company's applications from many file system activities.

On iOS, the best things you can probably do:
  1. Close all recent apps.
  2. Make sure that iOS is up-to-date.
  3. Make sure that the Google Photos App is up-to-date (see "First, here's how you do it on iPhone:...").
Good luck!
