I am afraid that photos in the "Locked folder" are only available on the old device, unless you saved a copy in another place or backup. They are removed from Google Photos cloud.

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

 

Regretfully, on the phone, the Photos app doesn't show anything upfront to reveal whether that's backed up or not.

 

However, the following due diligence will ensure everything from your phone is there on the cloud.

• Go to the library view & tap view all on the "Photos on device" tab. In that view, no folder should have a cloud symbol with a slash on that. If you find so, please tap the folder & switch on Backup & sync.
• Check the status of Backup & sync in settings. That should say "Backup complete".

Moreover, some social media apps hide the download folders from visibility through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you can manage that unhiding through the settings in the respective app.

 

Once you ensure everything as above, you can be sure about the backup status of the photos & videos on your phone.

I assume that you used "Partner sharing". When you turned ON the option to also save the photos to your account, you became the owner of a copy.  Unsharing does not take them away ... 

There is no easy solution. 

• The initially uploaded photos may be all uploaded the same day, and thus together on "Recently added" (under Search on Android)
• When your mother uses another camera you may find her photos by searching for the camera name as shown in the info. See Photos taken by a specific device

Can't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video is not in the trash, you cannot restore it. You cannot restore the photo in the following cases:

 

If you moved the photo to the trash more than 60 days ago. If you moved the photo to the trash and emptied your trash. If you permanently deleted the photo from the trash. If you have permanently deleted the photo from your device's Gallery app without backing it up.
