The problem now is that those are all albums that are on my phones local storage and for some reason i can't select or deselect those albums in the options menu for back ups, they're not even visible to me. In the options i can only see albums that are stored on my SD card. Is there any way to make google not back up those local storage albums? cause they're uneccesarily taking up a lot of my google storage so i want to get rid of it.

• On Android devices you see in the Google Photos app, under "Library": "Photos on device". Do you see these folders there? 
   
• When B&S is ON, Google always backs up the folders/photos in DCIM . The folders Camera and Screenshots will therefore not appear in the list of options to turn folders ON/OFF. 
   
• If still not solved you may check the authorizations, for example in the Android settings > Apps > Photos.

I have changed Macs and when I download my pictures from google photos via the website in groups of under 500 pictures to a Zip file. On my old Mac the "created date" stayed the same as when i took the photo on my phone. Now it changes to the download date. 

Also for another user on the same Mac via a different profile it still works properly. I have not changed any of my other behaviour. I have tried deleting all the pictures from my google photos app also deleting the app, then backing up the pictures again on my iphone, but this did not work.

I have seen a couple of of threads on this subject but have not seem any solutions. 

Are my setting different on this new profile on my new Mac and is there any way of fixing this. 

It makes it vey difficult to download and back up my pics another way.

I also managed to test out downloading pictures on my old Mac and on other profiles on the new Mac, the same issue happens. The download date is now the created date, rather than when the picture was taken like it used to be.

It seems this is something that has changed on the Google side.

Any support would be very welcome.

No spontaneous Mac-user will answer here and because I am on pure Windows, I would suggest the following small test. Just add some caption to some recent camera-photos in the Finder in order to change their metadata (changing filenames does not help). Then upload these files straight into photos.google.com in your browser and check their dates straight on the site in the opened infopanels. I am quite sure that you will see the original dates again, so your Mac maybe confusing you.  

Nevertheless: beaware that pictures from social media like Whatsapp never have their original dates anymore due to bad design.

I am also finding this very frustrating, and can't figure out a solution! I have a year's worth of baby videos, want to download them onto my computer from my google photos, and when I do, it changes them all to the same date (of download), thus losing all the original dates they were taken.

That is hopeless indeed, because you need to do a lot of filemanagement on computer to get a few neat folders with picturefiles only and no hundred of dayfolders also filled with useless text-files (json). 

The more comfortable way is downloading straight from photos.google.com but then you are restricted to selections of about 500, so you need to repeat that many times to get all. 

And then: best to copy on micro-sd which can be inserted in your phone. But then you must prevent viewing and resyncing in the Google-app

So I would suggest: forget about and don't use the free-up space option of the app anymore next time, but delete the oldest pictures every month to keep enough space for new shoots.

Between the front cover and first image and back cover and last image, there will always be a blank side as an image is not printed on the reverse side of either cover.

If you have additonal blank pages beyond those, open the book in edit mode, go to the : menu and select 'Reoder and Delete Pages' .  The select a page within the book and select the 'x' in the corner of that page to delete.
