Once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup. 
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.
 
Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

The safest option is to move the photos to a Computer using a USB cable which has the advantage of being able to recover any lost stragglers.
 
Deleting from the device by using Gallery Go by Google may be a useful method. You can select a group of photos and use the Share option to Upload to Photos, this will confirm they are backed up, then select the same group and move to trash. Back to the Gallery Go main page and use the 3 dot menu to select trash and empty it.
 
If you are sure items are backed up at https://photos.google.com/ you can safely delete using any gallery app

That's dramatic :-)
But what you did, does not help because the location already was stored in the very old photos for some reason - maybe you have scanned that old photo recently with your smartphone. 
But these "places" only can be viewed by you, so just don't look. 
You also can archive this picture, but I don't think that will help.

I have transferred my photos in high quality(free) before. I bought the 2TB package. So I want to upload them in original quality.
I'm using google drive windows tool. Backup setting is "original quality".
Before starting to transfer, my storage of Google Photos was 108.6GB. After back up my "foto" folder which is 34GB, my storage of Google Photos is 131.2GB.
131.2 - 108.6 = 22,6GB

So, where is my 11.4GB (34 - 22,6)? 
Is GPhotos zipping my original size files?
May Google drive backup tool not overwrite original size files on high quality ones.

I  cannot be sure that I have safely stored my photos and videos.

Hi,
I think I found a clue. 
I have a photo in my sync. local folder and in GooglePhotos.
Local file is 3.5MB. But online one (already uploaded as high quality before) is 480kb
All file details are same (except file size and image ID). I think Sync. program assume that they are same file and doesn't upload original size. 
Here are the pictures:





So, How can I overwrite orginal size on high quality size?
Should I drag&drop thousands files on web browser?
Why GP has such limited upload capabilities?

That simply means that 11 GB was uploaded before June 1 at high quality and these GBs were not counted by Google. 
And these files were not overwritten.

Forget about, there is no easy and safe way. 
  1. You need to remove all items from photos.google.com uploaded in high quality (that's not unsafe, but removing bulks from Photos-cloud always result in extreme delays at Google, because then the files on Drive start to count). 
     
  2. You also need to remove all media-items from  https://drive.google.com/drive/computers synced in high quality and that is very unsafe because it hardly is possible to prevent that your originals on pc are deleted also. 
This forum is run by volunteers and it is impossible for me to set-up a bulk experiment with the brandnew new app in order to find a safe and easy procedure. So you have to find out yourself.

I am facing a very strange problem. Like many of google users, I have reached the limit of my free space (15GB). So I started to download old photos and videos, and delete them from the cloud (and, yes, I empty the trashcan). I managed to recover space until, say 82% of space occupied (that is more or less 12.6GB of space, 2.4GB free space)
Then, I stumbled on an old video I can't manage to download (error 500). I tried to download it multiple times, thinking of a temporary problem, together with other photos or stand-alone. No luck.
Today I can see free space has been filled up (in one night!). I have not recorded any video nor my mail average traffic is that large.
I think that something has gone wrong in the google download process and partial files are taking up space in my drive, but I can't see where.
Can someone help me?

I have a LOT of photos saved to google photos, but somehow in the past some have been backed up to a hotmail address google acct, and some to a gmail address google acct, giving me 2 areas to look for photos (those under hotmail address and those under gmail address). Each area has different photos in them, but also a few repeats! And it seems like some edited photos have been saved to gmail while the original is saved to hotmail! So looking for advice on the following:

- Any ideas how to easily consolidate all the photos in to one account?
- So, how would I ditch the other photo account forever? (and is it ok to do that without losing anything?!)
- Any ideas what would be the best one to keep (gmail or hotmail, or doesn't it really matter?!)
- Any ideas how this could have happened and what to now check to ensure future photos only get saved in the one one photo account I choose to  keep?
- Any ideas how to get rid of duplicates easily and time-efficiently?!
