Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.

What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.

Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in the following article on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

You should look straight at Google on photos.google.com in the Chrome what you really have got backupped. Quite likely only non-camera images (eg from Whatsapp) were duplicated and that will be not your majority (hopefully). Cause: such social stuff has no original metadata anymore, so they were seen as new pictures compared to your well-dated own images.

A few months ago I logged into GPhotos and discovered ALL of my images had been deleted randomly, luckily I was able to restore them from the bin butany things, like facial recognition, haven't worked since.

I checked a week ago and somehow he had been blocked from my account, despite me never doing so as we are best friends, and of course I unblocked him.

I cannot help but think that somehow Google has corrupted my account or something due to all of these random issues.

Sharing works perfectly fine with everyone else.

I desperately need help with the fact that I cannot share Google Photos with just my husband anymore (I can with anyone else) and vice versa. There you see whether the storage is used by Drive, Photos or Gmail.

If you do not see "RECOVER STORAGE" in https://photos.google.com/settings there is probably nothing used by Photos, thus nothing to recover (RECOVER STORAGE works only in Photos).

You can see which files use most storage in Drive in https://drive.google.com/drive/quota

It is possible that photos are uploaded to Drive but not synced to Photos. In that case they use storage in Drive.

However, you can compose a movie through Google Photos using that video.

Once done, you can change the music through the following steps.

Tap to open the movie.

Tap the edits symbol below the movie
That will show the next page & there you will find the music symbol ♪. Tap on that.
The pop-up screen will show the following options "My music" "Theme Music" or "No music".
My music allows replacing the current music with your recording in MP3 format.

I got a new device and everything was working just fine until I moved over photos from my old device to the new one through an SD card i used google files to move them to internal storage and everything seemed to be working ok untill I tried moving images/videos to different folders and put them in the safe folder, when i tried to put away the images i noticed the ones that I just changed to the folder weren't appearing so I created a new folder and moved a couple of images there, i went to Google files and the folder didn't appear not only the folder but the images didn't appear when you searched for them in general so I decided to test it out a bit and downloaded a random image, it appeared just fine in files and photos but as soon as I moved it to a new or another folder the image was pretty much gone i wasn't able to visualize it in WhatsApp or able to find it in files or any other file manager i tried with, i could see the photo and folder fine in the photos app but I wasn't able to see it in any other place another weird detail is that when i deleted the image it didn't go to the recycling bin it just disappeared, i downloaded the same image again (i left it in the downloads folder) and then deleted it this time it did appear in the bin, after that I restarted my phone and tried again this time downloading an image from Twitter and the results were the same if I left it in the self created folder it would be fine if I moved it i can't see it in any other app so I tried to look for a solution since restarting, but didn't find anything so I thought that factory reset would solve the issue since well it's a pree installed app and i can't delete and reinstall it so I did that, i immediately tried it again after finishing the basic set up and the problem is still there in files the image is literally invisible you can't see it it says you don't have images at all although I would suppose they are still there since you can still share them from Google photos, so I factory reset again this time using the other method and the result is still the same so some how my phone has a permanently corrupt version of photos and factory reset doesn't help at all neither does deleting the app data or creating a new Gmail.

So now I'm stuck with a phone in which i cannot creat new folders because they become invisible. So uh what should I do

You can try to look in the Trash folder in Google Drive and also look in the Recently Deleted folder in the iOS Photos app. It could be in one of those locations.

You also need to renew that in your settings for backupping.

Goto settings under your profile and then select Backup and remove the old log-in first before entering your new account.

Also check in the general iPhone-settings for apps if the Photos-app is allowed to work in background and with battery savings off.

A specific face can be hard to find in the list of all faces, or may not be in the list yet. But when this option is available, you should also have the option to edit or add faces, including creating a new group in the web app https://photos.google.com/. This option is not (yet?) available in the Google Photos app on mobile devices.

Is there any way to transfer all my current High Quality pictures (which are counting towards my storage) through the Pixel phone so that they stop counting towards my storage?

The only possible ways I can think of are:

Download all my pictures (since June 1st) onto my computer, delete them from my Google account, transfer them to the new Pixel phone, then re-upload them to my account from the Pixel phone.
Create a new Google account on the Pixel phone, share all my current pictures with that account through Google Photos, and save all the pictures into the new account using the Pixel phone.

Both of these methods sound very tedious and might not even work... I was wondering if they can actually work, and especially if there are other alternatives. Any comments would be appreciated :)

I have accidentally auto-saved all of the photos from my partner in partner-sharing, so all of his photos are now in my library.

This all happened at once, so I can find and select them using photos.google.com/search/_tra_ which sorts photos by the date they were added to the library. Photogeddon occurred on a single day, so it is simple to select multiple photos that need to be deleted.

BUT Google Photos (web app - I can't do the by-date-added sort on either iPhone or iPad) will only let me delete around 10 photos at a time. Fewer if there are videos. 500 at a time would be fine. There are around 7500 in total.

If I select more than 10 then nothing happens at all when I press delete. It's not just slow. I've both waited overnight with a selection of 500 and I've waited 10 minutes with 11 selected. Once I've exceeded some or other magic threshold, it just refuses to bulk delete.

I noticed in the "Recently added" view https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ that, when you upload more than 500 photos on a day, it creates batches of 500. That is probably the limit for deleting. To select one batch you can hover with the mouse over the date and a check mark will appear to the left. Click on it to select the first 500, and do the same for the following batches.

Let us know whether it does work (I do not want to test locally ...)

Thank you. Yes I noticed that too and I have exactly selected 500 at a time as you indicate and, in fact, more and fewer! It would indeed make sense if 500 was the limit, but for me at least, the limit is substantially smaller!

The problem is that if I try to delete more than around 10 at a time, nothing happens. If I select 5 and delete, everything is fine, they disappear happily off to trash and fall out of the library. If I select 11 and delete in exactly the same way, nothing happens at all. They don't move and there's no error message.

That's why you can add the same picture in multiple albums.

The photo has to be there in the gallery first & continues to stay there even after adding to different albums.

Then, putting a picture in an album and freeing up space are two unconnected activities.

Albums remain on the cloud.

Still, you can remove the original from your phone through these steps.
