Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.
Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.
 
Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.
 
However, you will find some tips in the following article compiled by experts with comprehensive experience on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

I suggest going through the following article prepared by experts with extensive knowledge of Google Photos. That will help you understand the different methods to transfer pics from one account to another.
 
 
The article offers several tips on how to do so
However, method C would serve the purpose.
 
Nevertheless, there will be a disadvantage now. The pics you transferred to your new account will count towards storage. If you are willing to bear that penalty, proceed. Otherwise, leave the pics as it is.

To assist you better, could you please try and check if you're able to see the missing photos on the web (photos.google.com) to see if it's a device related issue or account related issue?

Just a heads up: If the photo isn't available in photos.google.com then it looks like the photo isn't backed up properly to your Google Photos account.

Meanwhile, I'd suggest you try some of these basic troubleshooting steps on your phone:

1. Sign out from your Google account and sign in back.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Photos updates. (Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager > Google Photos app > Uninstall Updates > OK). As long as you have a strong Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data), your Play Store app will update to the latest version within a few minutes.
3. Try clearing your app data which is the same as uninstalling and reinstalling the app. After you clear your data, sign in and turn "back up & sync" on again.Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
a. Tap Apps.
b. Select Photos in the list.
c. Tap Clear data.
4. Restart your device.

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community.

Could you please confirm if the photos are actually backed up to Google Photos by checking on the web version of the Google Photos (photos.google.com)?

Meanwhile, let you know that you will see your files in Google Photos even if it is not backed up to it. It just acts as a gallery app when the backup and sync is "OFF".

Thanks for writing back.

As you've mentioned that you've deleted the photos from your device gallery and also couldn't find them on web (photos.google.com), it looks like the photos and videos didn't backed up properly to your Google Photos account. Could you please check for the following things:

1. Can you see them via Picasa?
2. Are they in the trash?

Also, try checking the missing photos on Google Photos library. Incase, if you might have moved the photos to trash, it will not automatically removed from:
  • Blogger
  • YouTube
  • Gmail
  • Google+
If you don't find the photos, I'd recommend you look for your photos here, signing in with all your Google accounts if you have more than one:

    If they are still missing, then unfortunately there isn't a way to retrieve them. Going forward, I'd suggest deleting the photos and the videos using the Google Photos Free up Space option to avoid any data loss as it is the best way to remove a backed-up video/image from your phone, leaving it in the cloud, and this will only delete the files which are backed up completely on Google Photos. To do so, please follow the steps from "Free up space on your phone" help center article. 

    Also, try checking your backup status on your phone and check if you're able to see the photos and videos on web (photos.google.com) before you delete them on your phone:
    1. Open the Google Photos app on your mobile device .
    2. At the top left, touch the menu icon  > Assistant.
    3. Read the first card. If it says:
      • "Waiting for connection" or "Waiting for Wi-Fi": You need to either change your settings or connect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. Touch the card to change your settings.
      • "Back up & sync is off": Touch "TURN ON" on the card to back up your device's photos and videos, including ones you capture in the future.
      • "A photo or video was skipped": A photo or video on your mobile device doesn't meet our upload requirements:
        • Photos can't exceed 75MB or 100 megapixels
        • Videos can't exceed 10GB
      • "Backing up photos" or "Backup complete": This means your photos and videos should be saved.
    Just a heads up: Photos and videos that aren't backed up will have this cloud icon  or circular-arrow icon based on the version of Google Photos App on your phone.

    A 6MP file barely gives decent prints.  After reduction, unacceptable.

    You can not say that in general and then you also must specify your preferred papersize. 

    But you can expect a good print if the longest side of the file has 100x as much pixels as the longest side of your paper in centimeters. So for good 4x6 inch print, your file needs to have 1500x1000 pixels at least and that is 1.5 MP only. 
    So from 6 MP images you can print up to A4, but if these pictures come from a low quality camera, the amount of MP's is ruïned by other factors. 

    The Google compression is comparable with heic on iPhones and that is still good quality. But for poster size prints you really need a DSLR-camera.
