Could you open your camera and check the photos settings to see if there is a Watermark option which is turned on?

The only way to remove existing watermarks is to edit the photo using the crop tool to edit it out.

I'm not sure if this is causing the problem. However, every single picture is listed as my former home address.

Regretfully, once your camera device has captured a location, the Google Photos app doesn't allow any correction in that.

Nevertheless, if your phone is not picking up your current location, you have to post that problem either in Google Maps forum.

If the app has identified the face of your friend, then you can add that photo to a new group through the following steps.

You can add a person through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots

If the app had failed to include some faces in that picture, then you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail.
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.
Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group, manually, through the same steps as described above.

PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

I tried to edit a photo I downloaded from Chrome App that saved as a .webp file (which I've done on multiple occasions in the past), but this time I received a pop up error after tapping "save" that simply said "Cannot save changes to image right now." I tried several different files that were also .webp and received the same message, but when I opened & edited the same files in SnapSeed app instead of in the photos app, they edited and saved just fine. What is the deal with that & how do I fix it? Or is this just another of Googles famous Pixel 3 XL snafus?

Basically it already is abnormal that your downloaded images are webp files instead of normal jpg-files.

And it is not needed to download, because if you open a picture in Google Photos, you can choose Edit i > Snapseed directly under the 3 dots. The edited version will be stored in the Snapseed-folder as a normal jpg (or jpeg) file and it is your choice to sync that folder or just backup some succesfull edits.

Deleting in the Google Photos app removes from both, but deleting in the Apple Photos app or iCloud does not delete the Google Photos copy due to the nature of Backup & sync which is designed to allow you to delete the device copy leaving a copy backed up to the web.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.

Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.

Open Google Photos.
Tab Library.
Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
Tap Move to folder.
Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.

Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

It looks like you're trying to restore some videos from your Google Photos. If yes, please check if the videos are present in the Trash of Google Photos and restore them through the below steps:

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app .
At the top left, tap Menu.
Select Trash.
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
At the top, tap Restore. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.

But if you've already deleted the videos from the Trash from your Google Photos, there is no other way to restore them.

That being said, if you would like to see this feature implemented in the future, I recommend leaving feedback about it through the following steps:

Open Google Photos.
Click on Menu.
Select Send feedback.
Click on Send.

The product team reviews the feedback regularly and uses it to better improve the product overtime.

If you have a Windows-10 computer then you have a neat Photos-app which has an importoption right-up.

And you have to create a folder name "My phone" or something alike in the main Pictures-folder and select that folder in the import window.

And you should not allow deleting these pictures from phone in case something goes wrong.

Then you can connect your phone via its usb-cable and after unlocking your phone you need to give permission for datatransfer and after a short automatic install procedure, the import-app will start to search your phone for folders containing pictures and movies and they will get copied all to your folder.

Thereafter you should should switch the phone in standby and then you can disconnect the cable.

Then you also will see the phone pictures in the Photos-app which also has a lot of additional feature.
