But there is a third party app that you may try to use to recover your permanently deleted photos/videos.

Note: this app must be use with the device where the files was deleted.

Except, this action completely copied my past 10 years of photos INTO MY WIFES MAIN PHOTOS! So even if i remove ex girlfriends from my account, all of them are still present in her account and they keep on coming up on "remember this day" and other reminders. Once this happened we deleted the shared folder but that didn't work. Keep in mind that the shared folder had a date range but obviously there is a flaw there as that didn't work. Please help! Hopefully someone at Google sees this and reaches out! Thanks

You can create an album and share it with your wife, with the option to collaborate (= your wife can add photos). You can also set in the options of that album that it is automatically filled with photos of one or more persons or pets. But that will not automatically add your photos to her library. She can add them manually though.
Or you activated "Partner sharing" in the settings of Google Photos, and she turned the option to add your photos to her account ON. She can in turn activate "Partner sharing" with you.

That also seems to indicate that you activate "Partner sharing".

That also happens when she saved a copy of your photos to her account: she became the owner of the copy, and you cannot remove it.

Well we did the folder sharing for just that one folder and from a specific date, but for some reason that action alone copied my entire library to her photos. Keep in mind we were sharing this to chrimecasts, hence why some software bug may have proceeded with the copying. Also, my account received no photos from her account. I wish there was a way to undo the merge that magically happened. Trust me, she did not turn on the merge setting you mentioned in your second paragraph, as this was a while ago and she has no interest in seeing my photos before her.

Sorry, i think I didn't explain myself well. In the HOME app, for chromecasts, you can set up ambient mode and show slideshows of various google photos albums. We created a shared album for this purpose, and only allowed certain photos past a certain date to be added from my google photos. Since i did this, photos dumped MY ENTIRE 10 years of google photos INTO HER google photos account. So somewhere, there is obviously a glitch. The folder was deleted, but did not change anything.

Thanks for the clarification. O am no Home expert, thus no idea what happened, but the following may help to clean up the mess:

You can try to go to "Recently added", either in the Google Photos app under "Search > Recently added" or in the web app under "Explore" (https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_), where all these photos may be grouped on the same day. That would allow to delete them more easily.
If you used different devices (camera) then you can also search on (part of the) camera name as shown in the info of the photo to find your photos.

I'm not sure if you will need to wait awhile for the photos to appear again in the face recognition area.

I went to https://photos.google.com/people and clicked the 3 dots then "Show & hide faces" then clicked a face to hide it, then clicked Done. Of course, now it's gone and no easy way to find it again. All you can do is wait and hope it will appear again.

As you've mentioned that you're able to view all the albums on your MacBook and not iPhone or iPad, please give a try to the steps mentioned below:

1. Disconnect and reconnect the Google account from the Google Photos app on your iOS device.

2. Uninstall and reinstall the app.

3. Restart your phone.

Also, try using the Google Photos app by switching the phone to Safe Mode, here's how you can do so:

Press and hold your phone's power button for a few seconds until Android prompts youto turn offyour phone, just like you would normally do to power it down. Next, tap and hold Power off for a few seconds until your phone asks you to confirm that you want to enter safe mode.
To get off the safe mode, simply restart the phone.

Thanks for your reply.....tried what you suggested, but it didn't fix my problem.

Let me provide some additional details....i have over 200 albums....i can see all of these albums and their photos by using a browser, in my case being an Apple products owner, that would be Safari, and going to photos.google.com/albums. I can do this on any of my devices including my iPhone, iPad or MacBook

....my problem is, when i use the Google Photos App on my iPhone or iPad, i only see about 45 albums...all the photos are there, but not all the albums.

Go to the 3 dot menu for the image, then "Info" then change the date with the pencil.

Anecdata:

- Both phones are way above 90% of storage used

- "Smart Storage" feature is enabled for months but no photos are ever deleted from devices

- Changing 30-60-90 Smart Storage retention threshold has no effects

- Both devices have 2y+ old photos that are long backed up to Google Photos

- All Camera photos are properly backed up to Google Photos cloud, there are no pending backup items to backup

- Google Photos "free storage" feature properly recognizes items that could have been deleted

- One phone says "Smart Storage" had run on it succesfully 3 month ago (not since 2y backed up photos weren't deleted)

- Second phone says "Smart Storage" had never kicked in on it, despite phone having less than 2% of free storage

- Phones are on latest Android 11 version with all apps up to date

But it looks that you are mixing-up with the trash function of Google which automatically deletes everything after 60 days if deleted by you in the Photos-app (then you are deleting local files as well as their cloud-copies if backup has been on). You also can use the free-up space function in the to remove all local files which are backupped already.

For Computer.

If you want to get a deleted item back, check your bin to find out if you can get it back. If your photo or video has already been backed up and you deleted it, it will remain in your bin for 60 days.

On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
At the left, click Bin .
Place your cursor over the photo or video that you want to restore, then click Select .
At the top right, click Restore Restore. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos account and added back into any albums that it was in.

For Android.

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your bin to see if it’s there.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the bottom, tap Library Bin .
Touch and hold the photo or video that you want to restore.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:

I tuned back up off because I don't want google photos to back up all my photos, only the selected photos to back up.
