The face recognition feature is still evolving & is likely to err particularly when faces are either near about or blurry.

Nevertheless, you can correct that manually through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains incorrectly identified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots.
Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil circled in the screenshot above). That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
The ones with a - sign are the identified faces. Tap on that & the face will get transferred to the collection of thumbnails with + sign.
Now tap the + sign. Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time. You can select the right one. Then the photo will get transferred to the right collection.

PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

You have hidden that face

To unhide that, first open the People & pets tab & tap "View all". Next tap on the three dots & the menu option "Hide or unhide". The text acts as a toggle. If you tap once, all the hidden faces will become visible with the same symbol of eye.

Again, the eye symbol is also a toggle. Tap that once, the profile will be unhidden. Tap second time, & then that will be hidden again.

Once you unhide the profile, then you can add further pics to that profile.

However, I couldn't replicate your issue. I selected multiple pics through the recently added option in the browser & clicked the bin icon. As usual the app displayed the warning. However, after acknowledging that, the pictures moved to the bin.

Free storage is only available for High Quality photos and videos, Original size uploads always count.

Head over to https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement This should give a clue on where the storage is being used. Large photos and videos >5MB are listed and can be reviewed.

Also check at https://photos.google.com/unsupportedvideos where videos which cannot be converted to HQ are stored using Original size.

Storage may be reduced by going to https://photos.google.com/settings and using the Recover storage option.

If you need to subscribe to Google One you can Create a family group then share the storage between members and it can be used in addition to their own 15GB

Review backup settings on Mobile

Open Google Photos .
At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings .
Tap Back up & sync.
Check your settings:
- Back up & sync: Make sure "Back up & sync" is turned on.

Review your upload size to the web

On your computer, open photos.google.com/settings.

If all your photos are backed up from your Android device gallery to Google Photos and you're trying to make some device space by deleting photos, that wouldn't delete them from Google Photos library then I'd recommend using the 'Free up space' option of Google Photos to do so.

You can delete up to 500 photos and videos from your Google Photos library or in your SD card at a time. Know where photos do and don't get removed from before you delete photos and videos in Google Photos.

Photos and videos you delete are also removed from:

photos.google.com and any synced devices
Google Photos albums
Google Photos movies when you edit them. Learn more about deleted photos in movies.
Google Drive, for photos and videos that are synced with Google Drive. Learn how Google Drive works with Google Photos.
Any shared albums you may have added them to.

Photos and videos you delete are not automatically removed from:

Blogger
YouTube
Gmail
Google+

Ensure that they are completely backed up to your alternate personal account (if any) before deleting them from anywhere, because deleting photos and video from Google Photos would delete them from the device as well. Signing out of the app or uninstalling the app, wouldn't delete nor remove the photos that are backed up to the cloud. You can either download them to an external storage device like a memory stick, and the close your Google Photos account.

If so, did you delete the pics through Google Photos? or using some Gallery app on your phone?
If you have deleted through Google Photos, then you may still find those in the bin.
The Bin icon becomes visible through the library view.

All photos saved become 'owned' by you and there is a copy in your account.

Please see Share your photos with a partner (Save your partner's photos) where it tells you that any photos you save from partner sharing won’t take up storage, unless your partner stops sharing their photos with you, or deletes the original copy. However there is currently a bug which prevents the storage being used in your account if the source account is disconnected. This may change any time in the future so if you suddenly see your storage jump it could mean they have fixed it.

Like you and others I had to try and see what works best, because Google does not tell us exactly how to search. To my experience the default operator is AND, but it combines everything indexed for the search terms. Thus when you search person1 person2 and there is an album named person1's birthday,the result will include all photos in that album where person2 does appear, with or without person1.

I tried to collect what I found in Search in Google Photos. The article may have to be be updated due to changes at Google Photos. Please comment here when you find errors or other methods.

Moving photos from internal memory to a computer or an SD card will not delete them from Google Photos - assuming they are backed up and visible at photos.google.com.

Photos moved to an SD card retain the link to the backed up copy and will be deleted if the backup is deleted with Backup & sync enabled,

If you have a question about recovering deleted photos/videos on Google Photos :

Please check in the Google Photos trash, maybe there are the photos/videos you are looking for. (Open Google Photos --> Trash)

If the photos/videos are permanently deleted, I think you cannot restore them.

Maybe the following information will help you:

Open the photo you want to edit.
Tap Edit Crop.
- To crop the photo to different aspect ratios, like a square, tap Aspect ratio .
- To change the photo's perspective, tap Transform . Drag the dots to the edges of your desired photo or tap Auto.
- To rotate a photo 90 degrees, tap Rotate .
  - To make minor adjustments to straighten the photo, use the dial above Rotate .
  - To automatically straighten the photo, tap Auto.
    - Note: Auto straighten availability will depend on the photo.
To save a copy of the photo with your edits, at the bottom right, tap Save.
