I use a trackball mouse, and to quickly scroll through long pages I use pan-scrolling (I believe it's called) where I click and release the middle scroll button which shows the 4-way scroll arrows, then using the ball I can easily slide through many, many pages without wearing out my finger joints. This works on every other web page and application except Google Photos. The 4-way arrow appears when I click the middle button but moving the ball doesn't cause any motion. The scroll wheel works normally, but as I said that is not a desirable method. Is there a setting or something on Photos that will allow me to pan-scroll?

Google Photos are ALWAYS associated with a Google (usually Gmail, but possibly some other domain especially if a ~G Suite~ or .EDU account).

Images deleted in the past 60 days are here:
If you used Google Drive to save the images look around here:
If you saved them in Google Drive and there was a significant amount of images you would probably notice it consuming space. Images stored at "High Quality" in Google Photos (not Drive) don't consume your space quota.
Recommendation: Check every Google Account that you have ever had looking at https://photos.google.com/u/0/
Note: If you were using iCloud Photo Library and Google Photos simultaneously (NOT recommended), MAYBE images were deleted in error. Sorry I don't have much first hand experience with this as I have never used this non-recommended configuration.

Hello Rachael,
Possibly too much for the app, Google are aware, but we don’t have any updates.
The safest option is to move the photos to a Computer using a USB cable which has the advantage of being able to recover any lost stragglers.
Deleting from the device by using Gallery Go by Google may be a useful method. You can select a group of photos and use the Share option to Upload to Photos, this will confirm they are backed up, then select the same group and move to trash. Back to the Gallery Go main page and use the 3 dot menu to select trash and empty it.
If you are sure items are backed up at https://photos.google.com/ you can safely delete using any gallery app

▶ If you have Android version 4 or lower, then the Photos app may no longer be supported, and in this case, the user needs to have a higher version.
▶ Also, if your smartphone or tablet is not certified by Google, then some apps may not work.
But if you have a version of 5 and above, you can clear the data in the device.
▶ Check your photos at https://photos.google.com.
If you see that everything is working well on the site, then it's all about the application.
Here's how else you can do:
• open Device Settings or the Google Play Store and delete the Photos app,
• Then in the Device Settings, select the Apps - Google Play Services - delete data section.
• Then go to Storage - delete cash.
• After that, restart the device, and turn it off for 10-15 minutes.

The editor in the Google Photos app allows corrections in the orientation of pictures.
To do so, please follow these steps through the phone app.
- Tap to open the picture
- Tap on the edit icon below the picture
- Tap on menu option Crop. See the screenshot at the bottom "Rotate".
- Tap on the rotation symbol for achieving a turn through ninety degrees. Each successive tap will add ninety degrees going through 90 -> 180 -> 270 -> and again back to 360 degrees.
- That will help you correcting sideways or upside-down orientations.
- If you wish to fine-tune then move the slider above the rotation symbol. That helps in correcting slight misorientations at an increment of one degree.

I hope that the stuff shared and saved was not reducing your space too much, because that also is possible nowadays with people shooting 4K movies without being aware of their bulky sizes.
But we can't explain your problem and because you are not a paying customer, you can't ask Google One support either.
So the only thing you can do is pressing the recover storage button on photos.google.com/settings and then wait a day before checking one.google.com/storage again.

But if you use the recover storage function in the settings of the app, you maybe able to get back the lost storage from before June 1, but I doubt. Because almost everything is added before June 1 since years.
Warning: this is not the free-up space function.
You also can have loaded some unsupported video before June 1 which were counted. Just delete them.

To save me some typing and speed a reply, please see this similar (a little different question but basically the same) post:
In theory, just turning off Back up & sync should work without deleting the Google Photos app, but do both since it is easy. Add back the app later if desired, just make sure Backup and sync is off.
This post has an example of deleting a range of images in Google Photos using a browser:
Proceed slowly and carefully. You might delete videos first if you need to free up space in your Google Account.
It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool. My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).
Other ideas and opinions are welcome. Questions from Galiya are welcome.

I have followed the support posts to share google photos accounts between two Google Photos accounts one being a Gsuite Google Photos (source) and the other a standard Google Photos accounts (receiver) then un-shared to have two separate G-Photos accounts again. However when I compare the two accounts folder size using the respective Gdrive Google Photos folders there is a significant difference, giving the impression that either not all photos have transfered or not at the original image size or something else. (see attached file size jpegs for comparision). I have downloaded the google photos to our desktop which the folder size is similar to the original Google Photos account with all the photos. Any thoughts or suggestions on why the two accounts are not a similar size or copying as per the support guide? Thanks Phil

Hi Marcos,
I'm really sorry for your lost memories but the Locked Folder is working as designed.
The feature is supposed to not upload the media in the locked folder online in your library and the only copy is kept on the device. If you factory reset the device or clear the storage of the Google Photos app, anything in the locked folder is lost.
Although designed to work like this, the Locked Folder is completely unintuitive. So I recommend that you send your feedback to the Google Photos team as these instructions explain under "Send feedback to the Google Photos team" https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6156065

Almost all people make a mesh of it because it can't be learned anywhere and it is a difficult & timeconsuming job. But apart from the sd, you must be clear about which "albums" your are talking: albums in your phone-gallery or albums at Google Photos at the bottom of the Library page.
PS: albums at Google do not use additional space in your account and albums shared years agoo, can be deleted because nobody will look to them since long. And they have had time enough to download important photos into their own collection. But the original pictures will retain in your stream on the Photos-page because albums just contain links - no copies.

What happens if you shoot one picture and one screenshot?
PS: perhaps you have applied the free-up space option and then all photos on phone are deleted and you need to view and share them from the Google Photos app.
