Been using your Google Photos app for last few years and a lover of the app. One feature that is my real favorite in android app it can stabilize any video inside the android app and then save it to my device. But since last few months most of the times videos not saving after they are stabilized.

 

Sometimes it's taking hours to save only 3 minutes of 4k footage or other times it's stuck in the process after I give it even few more hours. I feel like this a bug in the app and it's solvable. Is there anyone facing the same issue? Or is there any solution?

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

 

First, ensure you have the latest updated version of the Google Photos app.

 

Next, to unhide a person, follow these steps.

• Tap the search icon at the bottom. 
• Tap view all to see the thumbnails of all the persons in people & pets.
• Tap the three dots at the top right corner 
• Tap on the menu "Hide & show". Please note this menu works like a toggle. If you tap once, the hidden faces become visible. If you tap a second time, then the person will hide again.
• Now you will see all the hidden persons with a symbol of eye & a slash across that. 
• Tap on the eye once. Please note, the eye icon also acts as a toggle. Tap once, the person will be unhidden. Tap a second tome & then the eye will reappear, hiding the person once again.
• Once the eye symbol is gone, the person's thumbnail will become visible again.

Alternatively, you can try to do so through another route.

Please enter the link https://photos.google.com/people in the web browsers available on your phone. Next, log into your account & see whether the show & hide option becomes visible through the browser.

I recently wanted to migrate all photos from one google account (a) to another google account (b)  so I could delete account (a) once all photos have been migrated. 

To do this I used the Partner Sharing feature and ensured I selected automatically add to library for all photos. 

I then waited a day or so to make sure all photos had synced over and then stopped the share. Everything seems to have migrated over as I did not lose access to the photos in account (b) and I then tested this by deleting photos from account (a) and they still remained in account (b). 

However, the only thing that hasn't changed is the storage on account (b). So the photos have downloaded to account (b), but they aren't taking up any storage. How is this happening? The photos must be storing somewhere? I'm concerned that one day google may try and fix this glitch and I would lose all the photos in account (b). I haven't deleted account (a) yet for this reason. 

Has anyone had this issue and found a resolution?

Please see Share your photos with a partner (Save your partner's photos) where it tells you that any photos you save from partner sharing won’t take up storage, unless your partner stops sharing their photos with you, or deletes the original copy. However there is currently a bug which prevents the storage being used in your account if the source account is disconnected. This may change any time in the future so if you suddenly see your storage jump it could mean they have fixed it.

 

Once the photos have been added they exist in your own library and should be safe from deletion. You can disconnect the share and not lose any photos.

I have recently turned off my facegrouping feature. When I decided to turn it back on, no faces would show up atall. I allowed up to 8 hours but still nothing happened. 

 

Please note that the setting FaceGrouping can be found on my Google Pixel 4a 5g, but when I access google photosfrom a desktop, the setting can't even be found on the list, to try and turn iton or off.

 

The forums were completely unhelpful.

Next, log into your account & see whether the group similar faces option is visible through the browser on your phone.

Google Chrome, same on my device.

What troubleshooting steps did you adopt to resolve the problem?

Turned face grouping multiple times on and off on my device. Tried accessing Google photos from multiple devices and browsers, as well as incognito browsing. 

The issue remains. The face grouping setting is on (via my device) but no faces appear. 

This morning two dogs were identified by my device but not human faces.

Further, when there is no response to a thread, the automated system locaks that thread after a defined period. Your first question saw that fate as you didn't respond in time.

 

Nevertheless, please provide a link to the previous post in which you posted the same query using some different Google account.

This isn't helpful I am afraid. As it doesn reply to my initial issue. The previous thread is a different issue. The face grouping feature doesn't work at all now, while the previous issue I had raised was about combining the same face that was identified twice by Google photos.

I hope that helps clarify things. Please disregard my first thread as it is now locked and I no longer have that issue.

Google Photo creates a copy of the pics on your phone.

When you choose the "Storage saver" option, that would be of slightly inferior quality.

Further, the program "Syncs" or synchronises your actions. That's to keep the information up-to-date.

Thus, if you delete something on your phone or the cloud, the action replicates everywhere.

 

Not understanding the "Sync" function creates a lot of problems.

In short, you should never delete any photo straightforwardly when Back up & sync is on.

 

Nevertheless, to vacate the space on your phone, you can go for the "Free up space" option in the app, provided you go through the following due diligence carefully.

 

First, perform this critical action. Before going for "Free up space", please create a local backup by copying the content from the phone to some external HDD or USB storage device.

 

Next, when the quantum of photos awaiting the free up action is too large & also the phone has very little space, the "free up space" command fails to do anything. 

Also, the app may crash.

 

To mitigate the problem, please start deleting manually. 

To do so, tap to open the photo and slide up.

Below the pic, if you find the suggestion "Backup now", tap on that first.

Once complete, tap on "Delete from device". Now, the photo will get removed from the phone storage.

 

Once a sizable space is free, you can try using the "Free up space" option again.
