Trump prepares to declare EMERGENCY in desperate bid to fund Mexico wall

US President Donald Trump has vowed to plough on with his bid to build a wall on the border

with Mexico after finally ending the government shutdown.

Donald Trump agreed under mounting pressure on Friday to end a 35-day-old shutdown without

getting the $5.7 billion (£4.32 billion) he had demanded from Congress for a border

wall.

But it is only temporary three-week pause on the shutdown with Trump not backing down

on his demand for the security measures.

The Republican president said he could declare a national emergency in order to get the wall

money without congressional approval.

The shutdown, the longest in US history, led to around 800,000 workers being left without

pay.

It also led the president to delay his State of the Union address.

But Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has remained unyielding in Trump's demand

for funding for the wall.

Trump has said a wall is needed to curb illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden on a chilly, sunny winter day, Trump said: "We

really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier.

"If we don't get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on February

15 – again – or I would use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the Constitution

of the United States to address this emergency."

He previously has indicated he was considering an emergency declaration to dodge congressional

funding powers if lawmakers do not fund his wall.

Trump triggered the shutdown, which began on December 22, with his wall-funding demand

after being criticised by conservative commentators for not being firm enough.

"The walls we are building are not medieval walls," Trump said.

"They are smart walls designed to meet the needs of front-line border agents and are

operationally effective.

"These barriers are made of steel, have see-through visibility, which is very important,

and are equipped with sensors, monitors and cutting-edge technology, including state-of-the-art

drones."

"We do not need 2,000 miles of concrete wall from sea to shining sea.

We never did," Trump added.

"We never proposed that.

"We never wanted that because we have barriers at the border where natural structures are

as good as anything that we could build."

Author Claims Trump Keeps An Enemies List, Much Like Richard Nixon - Duration: 4:23.

Next week there's a new book coming out by a man named Cliff Sims.

He worked on 20, uh, Trump's 2016 campaign, uh, then it works at the White House as a

communications eight until May of last year.

The book is called team of Vipers.

My 500 extraordinary days in the Trump White House in this book, Mr Sims has made a lot

of, uh, accusations, claims, whatever you want to call them about Donald Trump himself.

And one of the most, I guess, shocking claims that he has made is actually a claim we've

heard in the past.

And that is that Donald Trump has compiled an enemies list because he's so paranoid,

not just of members of the press are people out there, but actually people within his

own White House, he is afraid they are not loyal to him.

So according to a story recounted in this book by Mr Sims here, a Donald Trump and Keith

Schiller, Trump's personal bodyguard, they were with him in the Oval Office.

And Trump said, let's make an enemies list.

So they got them a sharpie and he got White House stationary and he started writing down

the names of anybody within his own administration that he felt was not completely loyal to him.

Now, if this sounds familiar, there's a couple reasons why.

First and foremost, this is not the first time we've heard this story.

We have heard others in the White House also admit that Trump keeps an enemies list, and

if it sounded familiar, when we first talked about it and when others first talked about

it, it's because that's exactly what Richard Nixon did.

Nixon captain enemies list.

He kept an enemy's lifts of people within his own administration.

People in Congress, people in the media, people in Hollywood, Nixon just hated all these people.

And these are my omnium or run them down and keep this list.

The list is published.

It's available online.

You can find Nixon's enemies list.

And here we have just yet another parallel between Donald Trump and Richard Nixon.

You know, Nixon used to claim witch hunt there just after me for political reasons all the

time, much like Donald Trump, Nixon and kept an enemies list, much like Donald Trump.

Nixon's entire presidency was shrouded with the conspiracy investigations and all kinds

of mistrust from the American public as a result of it.

Same with Donald Trump.

There's only one thing left at this point and that's for Donald Trump to resign in disgrace,

telling us he is not a crook and I think we're all hoping that that last parallel between

Trump and Nixon does come true.

But back to Sam's book, right?

I mean this is, you know, guy was in the White House for 500 days.

He's got some stories to tell.

So let's talk briefly about a couple others, but he says, he says of Trump, he consumed

tv like the late Roger Ebert must have watched movies.

He commented on the sets, the graphics, the wardrobe choices, the lighting, and just about

every other visual component of a broadcast.

Sure.

He liked to hear pundits say nice things about him or White House officials defending them

from attacks, but everything came back to how does it look?

He also said that whenever the president would go out there and deliver a speech somewhere,

they would have to record all the networks and get screenshots of all the, uh, uh, Chiron's

they'd put on the bottom of the screen and then they would print them out and put it

in a folder to have ready for the president as soon as he walked back into the White House.

Why?

That was happening, not really sure, but it's a thing that happened according to a Cliff

Sims here.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump is a paranoid individual.

He cares too much about things that don't matter like television and money, but those

are the two things that Donald Trump cares about.

He cares about people adoring him and he cares about making more money and Cliff Sims accounts

of what has happened here.

Kind of back that up.

Especially the fact that he was willing to create an enemies list because he thought

there were people in his own administration who didn't adore him.

That doesn't make them an enemy.

Mr Trump.

It just makes them a decent American.

Trump Plans Second Summit with Kim Jong-un - Duration: 4:04.

-Let's get to some news.

I heard that President Trump is planning to have

his second meeting with North Korean leader

Kim Jong-un next month.

But so far no date has been announced.

Which means right now Melania is like,

"Please be Valentine's Day. Please be Valentine's Day.

[ Laughter ] Come on.

[ Cheers and applause ] Come on. Do me one favor."

That's right. Trump is having another summit with Kim Jong-un.

Apparently their goal for the summit

is to finally figure out what to do with their hands.

[ Laughter ] [ Applause ]

Some more news.

I saw that the plans for the tower

President Trump wanted to build in Moscow were leaked.

And it was going to have a luxury spa named after

Ivanka Trump, which expected to attract

way more customers than the hair salon named after Donald.

Which is very -- [ Laughter and applause ]

You heard that -- the way he does his hair,

he has two Dyson hand driers. -Does he really?

-Yeah, and he just goes -- [ Laughter ]

Guys, listen to this.

A new poll found that California Senator Kamala Harris

is currently leading the 2020 Democratic field.

Yeah, you can tell that Bernie sanders is nervous

'cause he was just spotted pouring vodka

in his applesauce. [ Laughter ]

[ Applause ] You guys hear about this?

After just one week, former White House official

Anthony Scaramucci has left "Celebrity Big Brother."

[ Audience awws ] Can we see a picture of him

from the show? It's real. [ Laughter ]

-What? -Looks like Mafia grimace.

[ Laughter ] [ Applause ]

Looks like he stole a suit from the old Steve Harvey.

[ Laughter ]

Looks like the guy at a murder mystery party

who definitely did it. You know --

[ Laughter ] [ Applause ]

That's what he looks like to me. Sorry.

More TV news, I heard that CBS

is refusing to air an ad that calls for legalizing weed

during the Super Bowl.

Instead they're just going to air one of those

Matthew McConaughey ads that makes you feel like you're high.

[ Laughter ]

[ Applause ] -I'm gonna turn left here.

Then I'm gonna go, "All right, all right."

No, don't do that. Come on, you --

[ Cheers and applause ] -Come on.

-That'll do. All right, all right. We love him.

Speaking of the Super Bowl, I read that the stadium

in Atlanta that's hosting has a Chick-fil-A in the stadium.

But it's closed on Super Bowl Sunday.

[ Laughter ] What are they doing?

That's like if the Girl Scouts

decided to stop selling cookies on 420.

You know what I'm saying? [ Laughter ]

You have to be -- [ Applause ]

It's bad for business. [ Applause ]

It's bad business. Get this.

A billionaire just bought a $238 million penthouse

overlooking Central Park.

It's the most anyone has ever paid for a home in the U.S.

but since it's New York, he's still going to live

with three roommates.

[ Laughter ] [ Applause ]

And finally you guys, a recent study found

that today's students think they can learn more

from YouTube than they do from their textbooks.

You believe that? -Really?

-Yeah. It sounds odd.

But you can actually learn a lot of the same lessons

you'd find in a textbook on YouTube.

I'll show you what I mean.

For instance, if you're studying mechanical engineering,

a textbook will tell you that

"Modern aviation is safer than it's ever been."

On YouTube, they'll just show you this.

[ Buzzing ] -Look out for Junior. Oh, no.

[ Laughter ] Watch out for Junior!

[ Cheers and applause ] Don't just stand there,

and watch him go.

If you're studying communications,

a textbook will tell you, "When appearing on camera

always remember to remain calm and collected."

But YouTube will just show you this.

-So if you're going to practice -- [ Screaming ]

[ Laughter ] What is that?

[ Screaming ] -And finally,

if you're studying physics, a textbook will tell you,

"Do not underestimate the power of gravity."

But YouTube will just show you this.

-Lakim and his nice [Bleep] shoes about to jump in

this [Bleep] puddle. -I do it for the kids.

[ Splash ] [ Laughter ]

[ Applause ] We've got a great show tonight.

Give it up for The Roots!

Ivanka Trump Hit With New Ethics Complaint For Enriching Herself From Trump Policies - Duration: 3:34.

The group citizens for responsibility and ethics in Washington has filed yet a another

complaint against Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, for allegedly violating conflict

of interest laws over what this administration calls these opportunity zones.

Now occasion, not familiar with it, which I wasn't myself, had to do a lot of research

into this, but basically these opportunities zones.

This is a program that the Trump administration announced shortly before the midterms, and

what it is is they were offering me massive tax breaks to any developer real estate.

Whoever it is, would go into poor communities and start buying up real estate.

If you do that, go buy this real estate.

We're going to give you a massive tax break.

Well, who do we know that's in the real estate business that has a lot of money willing to

go around and snatch up all these properties?

Oh yeah.

Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump's husband, and in fact, cushner actually owns an interest

in a company called contrary according to this crew complaint that was willing and able

and ready to take advantage of these opportunities zones because they have programs specifically

designed to help people get loans.

And buy up these opportunities zone properties, Ivanka Trump, again, according to the crew

complaint, was working behind the scenes to help this administration draft this plan to

come up with the plan and to help sell it to other members of the Trump administration.

Therefore, her involvement directly in this and her husband's involvement by directly

financially benefiting from this was 100 percent in illegal conflict of interest.

And they all knew it.

She didn't recuse herself, he didn't sell his interest, she pushed it, he profited.

So thereby she profits a little bit off it as well, obviously.

And that's where we are today.

And that is why crew has been out there as one of the leaders with these particular complaints.

I mean, they've done it with Kellyanne Conway, with her of violating the Hatch Act.

They've had to do that multiple times with her.

Um, they've done it with the emoluments clause lawsuits.

They've done it multiple times with Ivanka Trump herself.

They are staying on top of things as they have for years now.

And that is sorely needed, especially in the environment that we have in Washington dc

today.

We need these outside watchdog organizations like Cru, like public citizen out there showing

the corruption, highlighting the corruption, but more importantly, taking the corruption

to court, filing the complaints because it is one thing to point it out and hope that

the media picks it up, but it's another to say we don't care if the media talks about

it.

We've got lawyers and we're going to try to do something about it to put an end to it

because make no mistake.

The only reason people like Ivanka Trump and jared Kushner in the White House today is

because they think they can profit off of it.

Hell, a very strong argument could be made that the only reason Trump is in the white

house is because he thinks he can profit off of it and according to other crew complaints

and lawsuits in the past, he has.

He has a lot.

He's making a ton of money off being the president of the United States and Ivanka Trump and

jared kushner are using every possible opportunity that they have to do the exact same thing

as her dad.

Pres Trump EXPOSES The HYPOCRISY Behind Roger Stone's INDICTMENT! Mueller SHAKING In FEAR(VIDEO)!!! - Duration: 13:07.

Pres Trump EXPOSES The HYPOCRISY Behind Roger Stone's INDICTMENT! Mueller SHAKING In FEAR

he's never been in a lack of having things to say there's no question about

that so looking forward to that I think Phil said that that was going to happen

sometime around 12:15 or so let's just refresh everybody at home Roger stone

arrested this morning by the FBI with guns drawn in a pre-dawn raid at his

house in Fort Lauderdale and indicted by a grand jury on seven counts including

one count of obstructing an inquiry six counts of making false statements to the

House Intelligence Committee and one count of witness tampering according to

the indictment for allegedly threatening radio host Randy Craddock

to have him give false testimony to the House Intelligence Committee even at one

point according to the indictment threatening to take away críticos dog

the president weighed in on this just a short time ago on Twitter saying it's

the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country no collusion border

coyotes drug dealers and human traffickers are treated better who

alerted CNN to be there more on that in just a second in a statement this

morning the president's attorney Rudy Giuliani said this is another case of a

processed crime that arose only after the investigation began and that nothing

stone did prior to the investigation was criminal the statement raids quote the

indictment today is yet again nothing more than another false statement charge

it doesn't allege collusion indeed it charges no underlying wrongdoing by mr.

stone or anyone else seems like we are coming to an end the White House

distancing itself from any culpability here Sarah Sanders dismissing a question

about whether the president may have told stone to lie is quote insulting but

Nancy Pelosi whose Democratic colleagues will spend the next two years

investigating all things Trump had this to say about it this morning listen

surrounded himself with this connection to the integrity of our elections is

obviously something we have to get the truth about but it's also bothersome to

see his connections to Russia and the president's suggestions that we should

question whether we should be in NATO which is a dream come true for Vladimir

Putin now while the indictment draws a connection between Roger stone and

WikiLeaks it does not draw a connection between Roger stone and Russia WikiLeaks

insists that Russia was not the source of the leaked emails from the hack

Democratic server that it released however the US intelligence agencies say

they believe people with ties direct eyes to the Kremlin were responsible for

giving those emails to WikiLeaks now as to how CNN was there according to their

producer who was on the scene here in Washington DC they noticed an

extraordinary amount of grand jury activity yesterday on a day when there

typically isn't any they put two and two together and said well maybe we should

check out Roger stones house and and clearly that sort of gumshoe reporting

paid off for them if that's the way it happened of course inching the

president's question in a tweet a few moments ago who alerted CNN to be there

John Roberts thank you we have a lot to get to joining us now the author of the

deep State Fox News contributor jason Chaffetz the author of the Russian hoax

Fox News legal analysts greg jarrett author of the case against the

democratic house impeaching trump Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz

congressman Chaffetz I'll begin with you if this is the case all of these other

people that we know lied to Congress and in the case of Hillary they were

subpoenaed she did delete them she did acid-wash the hard drive and she did

bust up devices what where's her pre-dawn raid where's the pre-dawn rate

of everybody else I mentioned remember Bryan Pagliano was the IT specialist for

Hillary Clinton twice twice I issued a duly issued

subpoena he refused to show up in Congress not only was there not a

pre-dawn raid they never arrested him they never prosecuted that never did

anything about him instead what you had was this FBI and the Department of

Justice handing out immune the agreements so that they got the

easiest treatment possible at the same time as you point out there were emails

and documents classified information so highly classified even I as the chairman

of the Oversight Committee could not see this information it was out in the wind

it was told up to up to 300 people had this secure information in a non

classified setting and the Department of Justice did nothing it's the duplicity

it's the it's the unbalance its that Lady Justice speaking under a blindfold

and acting differently for the Democrats than you do on Republicans that's so

disgusting yeah a great guy want to get your thoughts on this well Jason is

absolutely right and in fact Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills two of Hillary

Clinton's top aides clearly made false and misleading statements to the FBI and

emails prove that those were false statements and Jason during a committee

hearing Intelligence Committee hearing confronted James Comey about it and

Comey said quote well there's always conflicting recollection of facts you

know this from the same guy who used no facts no evidence no probable cause to

launch a dilating and improper an illegitimate investigation of Donald

Trump and now his longtime friend in a lie Robert Muller is pretty much doing

the same these are processed crimes but the indictment of Roger stone only shows

today that Muller has failed to meet his mandate no one has been charged with a

crime for which Muller was appointed you know professor Terzi which you've talked

about the criminalizing of political differences here every one of those

people I mentioned and Greg just mentioned are guilty of the exact same

thing that they charged Roger stone with if we're going to arrest one person if

we're going to cook we're gonna say that's justice where's equal justice

where's equal application of our laws no I agree and I think we shouldn't arrest

any of them we should let this be fought out in the political arena look

today's arrest is part of a long pattern by Muller

he only arrests people for crimes that occurred either after he came into

office crimes that were stimulated essentially by the investigation all

crimes that occurred earlier but have nothing to do with Russia

tax evasion bank fraud taxi cab medallions or one case where he indict

Russians who will never come into this country a show indictment Russian

intelligence arresting somebody right and the idea of arresting somebody like

stone the way they arrested him is a civil libertarian nightmare the ACLU

should be up in arms an hour later in court the government conceded he was not

a flight risk he was not a danger they accepted very low bail and they let him

leave they should have called his lawyer and said please show up at the federal

courthouse tomorrow at ten o'clock he's been indicted he'll be arraigned

that's the way white-collar criminals are treated but what they want to do

with him with stone is to squeeze him the way they squeezed Flynn and the way

they're squeezing man afford and it's judge Ellis who said they're not

interested in metaphor they're interested in what metaphor can give

them on Trump they want to have him sing and the fear is these people may also

compose we know some of them probably have already composed made-up stories

now stone and said he won't do it of course Michael Cohen said he wouldn't

cooperate either so we have to wait and see thank you all for being with us

contributing enter at national review of former assistant US attorney for the

Southern District of New York one of the most eloquent writers on Law and Justice

there is any thanks very much for coming on so assess these charges if you would

as someone who has brought charges within the context of the broader

investigation do these charges bring us closer as Americans to understanding how

our democracy was hacked in 2016 no I think the takeaway Tucker with with due

respect to mr. stone and this is obviously immense importance to him to

the country it seems to me that this set of charges underscores what seems to

have been obvious for over a year that is that there never was a

conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin to commit espionage it

seems to me that that is something that's been obvious to investigators for

a very long time and this latest set of charges indicates that they not only

were not in cahoots with Russia they didn't actually know what

why key leaks had so as you pointed out in your interview with stone there's no

charge in the indictment that stone who's facing seven felony charges was in

any kind of a criminal conspiracy with Y key leaks all this is about is the

process of investigating the so-called Trump Russia conspiracy which it seems

to me not only didn't exist but they've long known that it didn't exist I'm

fixated on the CNN tape of this raid on Stone's house this morning because I

think like a lot of people I looked at that and I thought this is not at all

the country that I grew up in or want to live in if a prosecutor says we go to

the house of a 66 year old man we know doesn't have a passport or a gun who

lives with his older wife who's deaf and their dogs and cats and we need 27 armed

federal agents each with a sidearm and an ar-15 is there anybody who says you

know what that's just that's just wrong that's overkill we don't need to do this

it's actually dangerous why are we doing this why wouldn't anyone push back

against that idea yeah I don't know Tucker because this is not the first

time this has happened in this investigation

when Paul Manafort when there was a raid on his home in Virginia it was on the

night between two days when he was cooperating with two different

congressional committees and it was under circumstances where the special

counsel's office knew his very well respected lawyers in Washington and

could easily have called up the lawyer and said here's a subpoena these are the

these are the items we want there was certainly no reason to do it the way

they did it and here today what happened here seems to me to be complete overkill

to take somebody who is at best what you would

as a white-collar criminal if he's actually guilty of the charges who's

committed processed crimes and treat him like he was a Mafia don or Osama bin

Laden to me just seems to be crazy and the proof is in the pudding if you

really think this guy is either a danger to the agents who were conducting the

search or a risk of flight one thing you don't do is agree to let him out on his

signature to a two hundred and fifty thousand dollar bail bond I mean he

either is this evil guy or he's not it kind of reveals the motive doesn't it

and and finally there's been a lot of debate today about how a CNN producer

with a camera wound up at the scene at five something in the morning

CNN has an explanation for it I don't know if it's true or not is it plausible

in your mind that a prosecutor in this in this investigation would tip off a

news organization I mean if you're gonna conduct a raid like this presumably

you're doing it for shock and awe would it be so strange to let a news

organization a sympathetic one no I don't think it would be strange to do

that particularly under circumstances where it looks like there was a lot of

orchestrating the media response here as I understand it the raid began at six

o'clock the press release was issued at six was at 6:17 I think Catherine

Herridge said yeah this morning so that obviously is suspicious I'm also aware

of investigations where for example the media finds out that you know there's

some leak in the investigation the media finds out there's going to be a raid and

the government makes a deal that they can be on the scene as long as they

don't leak the fact of the raid so that people get a chance to escape

so I until we know all the facts I wouldn't jump to conclusions no one

knows I'm not but what you're describing is its own form of collusion I would

know if true Andy McCarthy thank you very much illusions of us could

collusions very loose term there so there's a loose term and it's a common

phenomenon here in Washington I can tell you thank you very much thank you god

bless you and God bless america
