Progress made so far to prepare for the next Kim-Trump summit: Pompeo - Duration: 2:05.

With the conclusion of three-day working-level talks in Sweden between senior officials of

North Korea and the United States,...

America's top diplomat says progress has been made to prepare for the next meeting between

their two leaders.

Mike Pompeo also explained that the second summit will serve as a "good marker" for both

sides.

Kim Hyo-sun reports.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his expectations for further progress in North

Korea's denuclearization during the next Pyeongyang-Washington summit, scheduled for late next month.

Addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos via satellite link on Tuesday,... Pompeo explained

that the second summit will serve as a (quote) "good marker" for the two sides.

"I believe that the end of February we'll have another good marker along the way."

He also said progress was made when North Korea's top nuclear envoy Kim Yong-chol visited

Washington last week,... and that positive results were reached during recent working-level

talks in Sweden.

However, he added that numerous tasks lie ahead,... hinting there are certain obstacles

to overcome in preparing the second summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and

U.S. President Donald Trump.

"There remains an awful lot of work to do.

But good things have happened already.

The North Koreans aren't conducting missile tests.

The North Koreans aren't conducting nuclear tests."

Meanwhile, the delegations from North Korea and the U.S. who took part in the working-level

talks to prepare for the second summit returned to their respective countries on Tuesday,

local time.

Despite the extensive three-day meeting just outside Stockholm,... experts say the two

sides will continue to meet for the next month to prepare for the summit.

As many speculate the officials will probably meet again at the inter-Korean truce village

of Panmunjom,... it's left to be seen how South Korea can act as mediator between Pyeongyang

and Washington.

Mueller looks into Trump campaign ties to National Rifle Association as part of Russia probe NY Da - Duration: 2:57.

Mueller looks into Trump campaign ties to National Rifle Association as part of Russia probe NY Da

Special counsel Robert Mueller is probing the Trump campaigns dealings with the National Rifle Association as part of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, a person familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

Muellers investigators asked former Trump aide Sam Nunberg about the campaigns relationship with the NRA when they interviewed him in February 2018, the source told the Daily News.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to elaborate on the specifics of the questions or whether names of any particular NRA officials came up over the course of Nunbergs interview.

The special counsels office declined to comment, as did Nunberg. NRA spokespeople did not return requests for comment.

, which first reported Muellers NRA questions to Nunberg, also reported the special counsel as recently as a month ago expressed interest in the powerful gun lobby, which has come under intense scrutiny for its ties to Russian nationals, including .

The NRA dished out millions of dollars on getting Trump elected, and Mueller is reportedly interested in whether the Kremlin tried to funnel money through the gun lobby as part of its pro Trump attack on the 2016 election.

Alexander Torshin, a senior Russian government official who was sanctioned by the U.S. for his role in the Kremlins election meddling, is a lifetime member of the NRA and supervised Butina in her covert plot to infiltrate the gun group as well as other conservative organizations in the U.S., according to court papers.

President Trump was not asked about the NRA in the written questions submitted by Muellers team, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Rudy Giuliani, Trumps top attorney in the Mueller investigation, said he had never heard of Mueller being interested in any connections between Trump and the NRA.

The only thing I know about the NRA is that they supported the President during the campaign, Giuliani told The News.

Everytown for Gun Safety, a pro gun control organization and NRA foe, welcomed Muellers interest in the Trump connection.

Between the Mueller investigation and Maria Butina pleading guilty to conspiracy after using the NRA to advance the Kremlins agenda, we may finally start getting answers, said John Feinblatt, the president of Everytown.

U.S. Supreme Court allows Trump's transgender military to take effect - Duration: 1:24.

The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed President Trump to enforce his policy of banning certain

transgender people from joining the military.

For more on this and other news around the world we turn to our Ro Aram…

Aram… this deals a blow to activists….

That's right Mark…

Several courts nationwide had backed LGBT activists by issuing injunctions that barred

the Trump administration from pursuing its policy.

It was those injunctions that the U.S. Supreme Court put on hold Tuesday.

It was a close decision, with justices split five to four in allowing the plan to take

effect.

They, however, took no stance on the legality of the ban, which continues to be challenged

in lower courts.

Trump's first announced the policy two years ago in a tweet and was later officially announced

by then-Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

It blocks individuals who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria - a discomfort with

their birth gender - from serving with limited exceptions.

It also requires that military personnel serve as members of their biological gender.

After Tuesday's decision, the Pentagon sought to clarify that the policy does not ban all

transgender persons from the military.

The Defense Department can also issue waivers on a case-by-case basis.

Trump offer to end government shutdown, build wall faces Senate vote - Duration: 3:31.

Trump offer to end government shutdown, build wall faces Senate vote

Even as the record long government shutdown hit its 32nd day Tuesday and 800,000 federal workers face a second round of missed paychecks, Congress is unlikely to pass a bill this week to end the closure.

The Senate released a bill Monday to reopen the unfunded quarter of the government. While the chamber plans to take up the measure later this week, it will almost certainly fail to meet the 60 vote threshold — again leaving lawmakers at an impasse over the presidents proposed border wall.

The bill would put dollar 5.7 billion toward building barriers on the U.S. Mexico border, along with funding for technology to find drugs at ports, thousands more border patrol agents and new immigration judges. In an attempt to earn Democratic support, Trump offered to extend legal protections for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, as well as people fleeing humanitarian disasters, for three years. The measure would also include nearly dollar 13 billion in disaster relief funding.

The proposal is unlikely to get the seven Democratic votes needed to pass the Senate. The partys leaders opposed Trumps offer even before he outlined it on Saturday, calling it insufficient or a worse version of a previous immigration deal that crumbled. No Democrats offered support for the deal over the weekend — not even the centrist senators who represent pro Trump states.

No clear path to ending the shutdown has emerged, even as already cash strapped federal employees face their second lost paychecks starting Friday. If the impasse drags on, and .

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell cast the offer Tuesday as "the only proposal ... currently before us that could be signed by the president and immediately reopen the government."

Americans . In December, the president said he would be "proud to shut down the government for border security" and "take the mantle" if funding lapsed. On Tuesday, he pledged not to back down from his wall demand as Democrats flatly refuse to pass funding for the project.

"Without a Wall our Country can never have Border or National Security," Trump claimed in a tweet Tuesday morning. He added: "The Dems know this but want to play political games."

Trump now has to balance the appearance of good faith immigration talks with Democrats and criticism from conservatives who accuse him of offering "amnesty." On Saturday, he cast his proposal as "straightforward, fair, reasonable and common sense" with "lots of compromise."

But on Sunday, as he faced backlash from conservatives, the president wrote: "No, Amnesty is not a part of my offer. It is a 3 year extension of DACA. Amnesty will be used only on a much bigger deal, whether on immigration or something else." He also suggested he could deport the roughly 11 million people living in the U.S. illegally if House Speaker does not give in to his demands.

"Likewise there will be no big push to remove the 11,000,000 plus people who are here illegally but be careful Nancy!" he wrote.

Democrats have urged Trump to support legislation to temporarily reopen the government while lawmakers negotiate border security. But the president has repeatedly said he will not end the closure without funding for the wall.

In a statement Saturday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Trump "keeps putting forward one sided and ineffective remedies." The presidents offer "is not a compromise but more hostage taking," the New York Democrat said.

"Theres only one way out: open up the government, Mr. President, and then Democrats and Republicans can have a civil discussion and come up with bipartisan solutions," he said.

Meanwhile, McConnell has pledged to only take up bills Trump supports. In a tweet Tuesday, Trump claimed he had "never seen" McConnell and Senate Republicans "so united on an issue." At least four GOP senators — Cory Gardner of Colorado, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina — have shown support for funding the government for a time while immigration talks continue.

The Democratic controlled House has passed various bills to fund closed parts of the government. The party broadly supports a plan to open eight departments through September and a ninth, the Department of Homeland Security, only for a few weeks to allow further negotiations on immigration.

Democrats have tried to get McConnell to approve the House passed bills, to no avail. Trump has shown no willingness to take that path yet.

McConnells office did not say Tuesday when exactly the chamber is expected to vote on Trumps offer to end the shutdown.

Trump Tower Moscow proposal included architects drawing of what would be Europes tallest building - Duration: 1:58.

Trump Tower Moscow proposal included architects drawing of what would be Europes tallest building

The plans for Trump Tower Moscow included an architects drawing of a glass obelisk 100 stories high that would be the tallest building in Europe and branded multiple times with s logo, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The drawing shows a fuller version of the project than Trumps team indicated. Rudy Giuliani, the presidents personal attorney, claimed the project hadnt gone beyond a letter of intent and no plans were ever made.

But architectural plans and business documents obtained by show an architects drawing of a gleaming glass tower along side the Moscow River topped by a diamond–like shape emblazoned on multiple sides with the Trump logo.

The architects drawing of Trump Tower Moscow, obtained by Buzzfeed, showed a glass obelisk 100 stories high and branded multiple times with Donald Trumps logo

The proposed tower would be the tallest building in Europe

The plans were attached to the developers proposal and did not come from the Trump Organization, a source tells DailyMail.com.

"The building design you sent over is very interesting," Russian real estate developer Andrey Rozov wrote to then Trump attorney Michael Cohen in September 2015, according to , "and will be an architectural and luxury triumph. I believe the tallest building in Europe should be in Moscow, and I am prepared to build it."

Cohen was spearheading the project for the Trump Organization. He was in contact with Russian businessman interested in working on the project, which was looking to bring in profits of dollar 300 million or more.

A final letter of intent signed by Trump on Oct. 28, 2015, noted Trump Tower Moscow would have approximately 250 first class, luxury residential condominiums," 15 floors of 150 hotel rooms, a luxury spa by Ivanka Trump and fitness center, and a commercial area for businesses to rent.

The project never came to fruition but it has become a focal point in special counsel Robert Muellers probe of Russias role in the 2016 election and whether Trump or any of his campaign team colluded with Moscow.

The president has repeatedly denied any collusion.

And Giuliani said Sunday of the project: The thing had petered out quite a bit. They sent a letter of intent in. They didnt even know where to send it, they knew so little about it. They finally got it straightened out and then they abandoned the project, he told NBCs "Meet the Press."

And he told  on Monday:  No plans were ever made. There were no drafts. Nothing in the file.

The plans, Buzzfeed reported, included detailed financial arrangements: the Trump Organization would get a dollar 4 million up front payment. It would also receive a cut of all the condo sales and a cut for the commercial and office spaces along with 3 percent of sales on food and beverages, spa and fitness center use, and conference fees.

The plan was to build Trump Tower Moscow along the Moscow River

The drawing shows a glass building with a view of the river

In November, reported the Trump Organization at one time planned to give Russian President  a penthouse worth dollar 50 million in the never built tower.

Felix Sater, a real estate developer and former mobster turned FBI informant who advised the Trump Organization on the deal, said the idea was a marketing ploy.

In Russia, the oligarchs would bend over backwards to live in the same building as Vladimir Putin, Sater told . My idea was to give a dollar 50 million penthouse to Putin and charge dollar 250 million more for the rest of the units. All the oligarchs would line up to live in the same building as Putin.

Trump insisted repeatedly throughout the presidential campaign that he had no business dealings in Russia.

Cohen entered a guilty plea in November to a charge of lying to Congress about timing surrounding conversations about the Trump Tower Moscow project and admitted it was discussed through the fall of 2016 while the president was running for office.

He testified before Congress that the project he pursued on Trumps behalf was abandoned by the time of the Iowa Caucuses in January 2016; that would be consistent with Trumps political messaging.

Rudy Giuliani told NBC News the plan never went beyond a letter of intent

Michael Cohen, President Trumps former personal attorney, pled guilty to lying to Congress last year about the timeline involving talks of a Trump Tower Moscow

President Donald Trump insisted repeatedly throughout the presidential campaign that he had no business dealings in Russia

Mueller later filed documents revealing Cohen said he discussed the proposal with Trump on multiple occasions and with members of the presidents family, later in the year – even after Trump became the Republican nominee for president.

Cohen said he lied out of loyalty to Trump.

I made these misstatements to be consistent with Individual 1s political messaging and out of loyalty to Individual 1, Cohen said at his plea hearing late last year.

Individual 1 is Muellers name for Trump in the investigation.

Discussions about a planned construction project were ultimately abandoned and no contract was signed.
