Trump news on Youtube Aug 20 2018

Mr Trump is known for his powerful handshake when greeting world leaders including Emmanuel Macron, Shinzo Abe and Justin Trudeau

However, it seemed on Friday the US President lost at his own display of strength when the Queen's Lady in Waiting won out on top of the pair's handshake

Virginia Ogilvy, Countess of Airlie, reached out her hand to Mr Trump and held onto it for two firm and lengthy shakes, as he arrived at Windsor Castle to meet the Queen

She then visibly pulled him in closer causing Mr Trump to lean forward. He appeared to try and pull away as the Lady in Waiting was speaking to the US President

The countess looked at the Queen who was gesturing for Melania Trump to shake her hand next

The Queen told Mr Trump that her Lady in Waiting was American. The countess was born in New Jersey and married the Earl of Airlie, who was a merchant banker but later in life also served as the Lord Chamberlain

Mr and Mrs Trump met the Queen on the second day of their four-day visit to the UK

The Queen welcomed Mr Trump to Windsor Castle as the US president's UK visit took a royal turn

Before the visit Mr Trump appeared starstruck to meet the world's longest-serving monarch, who he described as "incredible"

Mr Trump and the First Lady spent a total of 57 minutes with the Queen at the castle, and 47 of those minutes inside the monarch's favourite residence

The Trumps stayed 17 minutes longer than their expected departure time - indicating the pair got on very well

Ahead of the meeting between the heads of state, Mr Trump spoke of his admiration for the Queen in his interview with the Sun, in which he called her a "tremendous woman"

He told the paper: "If you think of it, for so many years she has represented her country, she has really never made a mistake

"You don't see, like, anything embarrassing. She is just an incredible woman. "My wife is a tremendous fan of hers

She has got a great and beautiful grace about her." Mr Trump was guided along by the Queen at the start of his inspection of the guard of honour, and when in position he walked along at a sedate pace looking at the soldiers

As the two heads of state made their way back to the dais, they appeared deep in conversation and could be heard talking as the military band stopped playing briefly

Mr Trump and the Queen paused at the entrance of the castle's Sovereign Gate, where a small senior group of the Queen's household were waiting

FIVE: TRUMP AND BRENNAN BATTLE OVER SECURITY CLEARANCE - Duration: 17:23.

the security clearance showdown intensifies the feud between President

Trump and John Brennan rages on as the former CIA director says he's not

political Brennan also threatening legal action against the President to prevent

others from having their clearances pulled I am going to do whatever I can

personally to try to prevent these abuses in the future and if it do means

going to court I will I will do that I have seen the lights blinking red in

terms of what mr. Trump has done and is doing I think I need to speak out and so

I've been speaking out rather forcefully because I believe it's important to do

so I don't believe I'm being political at all

Trump is firing back on Twitter slamming Brennan as a quote political hack

meanwhile some former intelligence officials are blasting the former CIA

directors rhetoric and routine criticism of the president I think it is I think

mail John is sort of like a freight train and he's gonna say what's on his

mind but John and his rhetoric have become I think an issue in and of itself

he has been incredibly critical of the president and and I think that has put

him in a political place which actually does more damage for the intelligence

community which is a political okay so that's our former officials Brian

attracts us what I had been hearing as well that the intelligence community

writ large wishes that John Brennan had not gone out and done all of this

because if they think it's hurting the overall intelligence community and about

60/60 intelligence officials at first now it's in the triple figures I've come

out and said I don't think he should have been stripped that's fine however I

just thought it was stunning to me because I watched all the sunday shows

because I'm lonely and I will I heard Chuck Todd say listen if you didn't say

this if you didn't say crazy and if you weren't contacting them if they weren't

actually attacking them then I think that we wouldn't be at this place but

when you people hear you talk you have to understand that people look at you as

a CI a direct and that's it watch this this is what Bryan's talking about

do you regret essentially accusing the president of treason do you do you

regret some of the things you have said I called his behavior treasonous which

is to betray one's trust and to aid and abet the enemy and I stand very much by

that claim alright great what do you think well you're watching a lot of

people debate it it's not like they're mad that this guy's hurting the

intelligence community that's not the problem they're mad because they're

helping he's helping Trump yeah every time he

opens his mouth Trump looks better right now all of Brendan's allies are feeling

like this guy is betraying them by it with his stupidity do we have that clip

of Rachel Maddow there's a great clip of Maddow saying you okay yeah I left her

in my office you over here yeah but she basically says that you said his actions

were nothing short of treasonous and he said yeah but that's not treason and

she's like looking at him going like nothing short of treason but it's not

treason until you're seeing Rachel Maddow you're seeing clapper you're

seeing CNN and CNN all kind of backing away from Brennan as though he's like

that crazy pantless guy on the subway who's flinging feces at the families but

the other thing about this is most of America doesn't care about this stuff

and I say it a lot if America were this vast amusement park with all of these

wonderful things you can do right now the media is in the tiniest corner of

that amusement park on the teacups going around and around and around meanwhile

everybody else is summertime enjoyed Space Mountain this is just something

the waterfalls the waterfall water slides the waterpark the only reason why

this story exists is because of the times we live in right now which is that

we have peace breaking out all over we have an economic boom we don't have

enough people to fill jobs so we have this carnival sideshow on every show

because there's nothing else to talk about which is basically a good thing

right well good thing comes around-- Muller a

little bit and that is real and people should pay attention to that because

even if you don't it's gonna hit you no I was in the rural South for ten days so

here's what I heard from everybody I talked to why in the hell does a

professional political bloviator still have a security clearance if he's not

working within the government with more than five million security clearances

still out there I think a lot of these former

professionals are upset that Brennan's blown up the gray

be trained because they're carrying these security clearances outside of

government it makes them more valuable does it not and that guys it only does

if you are actually working on like if you're like working with a defense

contractor maybe it makes you more but it may it makes you a little - I think

it is I think reputation wise yes it probably stings a little bit but more on

manly way in yet and it's five minutes in no I just I don't I don't think it

makes you all that much i saw the president said that today he said that

it's financially to their advantage to keep it what strikes me is that they're

not backing away from Brennan I think even when you hear people say he's like

a freight train which is what clapper said the guy's like a freight train in

terms of his criticism he says he opposes a revocation of the clearance

you can have you couldn't believe both things yeah well I'm just saying so I

don't think it's the matter of backing away from I think what people are saying

is and this is the most troubling to me is that there is now a breach between

the President of the United States and the intelligence community and so you

may say oh well that doesn't matter I don't believe this is what they're

saying that that's what they're saying it's not me saying if that's what

they're saying that is not a good thing for any president that's not good it's

like it I find that alarming because I think down the road you have to have

trust and norms in order to have a society to have a government and I think

those are being eroded well yeah I guess the administration should trust Brennan

there's no political immunise don't have to make out an enemies list and remind

us and he is kind of an enemy all right okay I could bring up one thing oh we

have this list Michael Hayden Sally Yates Susan Rice Andrew McKay Peter

struck Lisa Paige Bruce or ORS on his way out Lisa Paige Peter struck have

been basically fired or canned and Sally Yates as well and Andrew McCabe the

others Lee Malone use this as an opportunity to go ahead and re-examine

this whole issue in fact the point the point a coordinate and put a panel

together of gates Mullen and keen General King that looks at this and cuts

back with a report in six months and we were visited wouldn't that make the

world a better place well I don't know as long as you're here

I'm not so sure it's hard to make this world a better

place newsmen part I do you know what I don't know Pirates of the Caribbean all

right maybe I don't really go in there light it's always too long

yes Allah knows he's imitating he's in the hall the president what worries me

is ok so it's kind of like during the Clinton era which was before 9/11 you

know we were obsessed and I'm dealing with scandals in the and we're and what

was going on in the Oval Office and in Monica Lewinsky so we're here dealing

with all this like small ball stuff to quote Juan Williams from his latest

column and what could have what could be going on what could be being planned

right now that we aren't aware of because we were diverted were diverted

to this stuff it's we're gonna talk really a nice calm peace time a time of

peace and what some 2001 I mean yes the DNI Dan Coates said in testimony in

front of Congress just three weeks ago that you always have to be having like

be more creative than the terrorists and I'd be focused on that and it feels a

little bit like that time well and but this is why Trump supporters don't have

a problem with the Brennan security clearance being revoked because again

what he's under scrutiny what was his role in opening the investigation of the

Trump campaign in any relationship with Russia what was his role in using

partisan funded research paid for by the Clintons to get a surveillance warrant

aren't an American citizen he's been very critical Brennan of the House

Intelligence Committee work why is that President Trump has an option The Wall

Street Journal editorial page wrote about it last week is just open the box

and let everybody see all of the intelligence let's find out what yeah

that's what the journal said in to pick up on that but dagan it what the present

it had nothing to do with anything you decided he just said this guy is

reckless I think what did in the language manic

erratic but the real point is and I think that's why you've seen such a

unanimous response from the intelligence community is that this is about

punishing a critic the the was spurious but the end result was

right that's what Andy McCarthy wrote he said I just don't you use the word

spurious and he didn't and I have to say that isn't actually we're gonna find out

later according to Greg Gutfeld if Andy had an option to use that word

doesn't even know what it meant revoking Brendon security clearance the right

thing even if for the wrong reason that was it

I like spurious I think the price is pretty good alright we have more new

following after a report reveals Robert Miller's team interviewed White House

cancelled on McGann in the Russia Pro president from reaction Mets president

Trump lashing out at the Muller probe after New York Times report reveals

White House Counsel Don McGann is cooperating with the investigation the

president slamming the special counsels team has quote angry Democrat thugs who

reportedly met with McGann for over 30 hours in the Russia probe all with the

president's blessing Trump also accused the investigators of trying to tilt the

midterms while blasting them as quote a national disgrace meanwhile his lawyer

Rudy Giuliani firing back against the report this is a desperate special

counsel who leaked this to the New York Times illegally I might add

it could be McGann and McGann's not doing it and he would have done it a

long time ago if he was gonna do it they're down to desperation time

desperation time diggin o Lord you came to me first no not a desperation time

I'm gonna cite a Wall Street Journal editorial earlier today cuz Dana already

quoted some of it on her show earlier but they point out that McGann's

own attorney William Burke said on the record that he only cooperated after

President Trump waived any privileged claims right which is something that

Bill Clinton he president Trump's getting no credit for waiving that

waiving that claim when Bill Clinton fought it tooth and nail to avoid his

aides from testifying both Sidney Blumenthal and Bruce Lindsey just to

name two examples so in this instance with the with waiving privilege McGann

would have to answer the special counsels questions in every single one

of them because he can't cite privilege alright so but Dana the thing is McGann

was there for 30 hours and now you what you get the president's lawyer saying

case and Giuliani we don't know exactly well

so I know bill Burke very well we work together at the White House for full

disclosure and I mean I know the issue of executive privilege very well because

we had to fight it when the Democrats took over in 2006 well in oh seven oh

eight they have called us up everybody they want to put everybody under oh they

want to put everybody under a subpoena including Josh Bolten the chief of staff

etc and you had to decide each time are you going to assert privilege which is

why in the New York Times article Bill Burke says that he went back to the

president's initial lawyers and said are you sure that the president doesn't want

to assert any privilege on this and like nope fine but remember the other thing

is the first lawyers are overheard at a steak house shooting the breeze and

talking about how they're gonna hang it all on Don Magan if it all goes bad and

began says well that's like I actually didn't think it was a good idea in the

first place the Trump says go talk to Miller do whatever you have to do I

don't think it matters thirty hours I actually think what if I were the

White House you might think well he was there for thirty hours he answered a lot

of questions McGann's been there ever since doing the work of the president

doing the good work for him presumably if he felt he couldn't work for the

president he would have left because he's a principled person so I don't

think this I think this is much ado about nothing at this point and Greg

what do you think about Democrat thugs well I think he's right Donald Trump

compared this probe to McCarthyism but he had the wrong McCarthy it's not Joe

McCarthy it's Charlie McCarthy what you have a bunch of dummies the strings are

being pulled by a bunch of overheated acts in the media can I quote Andrew

McCarthy do it it may be a really good point which is that if Trump's actions

are lawful which it looks like that's what's gonna happen

you cannot question the motivations behind it because then that's nothing

more than mind-reading if if Trump's head if it fits all in Trump's head but

his actions are clear then you've got nothing and that's a pretty compelling

point to make which is why you see on Morning Joe now they're talking once

again about Trump being mentally unwell he's got some kind of you know mental

derangement he's incapable but what does that say about Joe Scarborough if

somebody who is mentally unstable is running circles around you

you must have end-stage dementia is it they overslept and didn't have time to

do any reading work so they just go on it but let's

let's say Miller comes back and he says cleared no collusion and then of course

the white house is gonna be very happy about that

it's like I told you so all along but the Democrats will start saying it was

rigged because Muller is a Republican and Miller did all of this and doesn't

miss it that might never end there'll be trouble but just by the way when is Joe

Scarborough on because it seems to me that Greg grew up a fan of Fox and

Friends and now suddenly you've changed as you've gotten older and I'm just

wondering what's why are you watching him or what I digress what mornings with

Maria you know I like to look at the competition to see what they're doing

we're not doing and also they make me laugh yeah but Greg two things that we

found out they do want they do know maybe bill Burke would tell you

something different than the New York Times god no no no but I have not talked

to him about this case right they say they call me there was a very

interesting they call me firing who would have thought and he was very

interested in and why he had such a preference for Jeff Sessions not to

recuse himself Wow talk about coming out of left field but

but here's what happened I think if I understood John Roberts report well and

I used to do very well in reading comprehension a you should not do well

in math which would balance each other out so my scores would be average we get

my reading was strong okay so he came out and said this he came out and said

today the reason why would you know that school why duh

school the reason white doubt came out and did this is because he wanted to

talk to everybody and they said what if we give him again and he says really

you're gonna give him me instead of everybody so he thought bergs night we

got to prepare ourselves to get thrown out of the bus and then they were not to

say and this one I thought was key as months passed it became apparent them

again and Burke had overestimated the amount of thought that went into the

president saying go talk to him they have no master plan to throw him out of

the bus he just said go talk to him I have nothing to hide well so he just

thinks he has done nothing wrong and he thinks it in fact it will say to his

supporters I've got nothing to hide I'm telling people go ahead and talk there's

pretty much with Ty Cobb and yeah this but that's why Ty Cobb and others have

gotten few agree 9 would you like to general a strategy you like the dad well

that's the problem with the Giuliani strategy is that today the headlines is

all about truth is and truths right no but the thing is well I mean I

okay I'm gonna be the broken record here you go from a can you got Muller you got

man up for it yeah if you read these names to the

American public you could be reading the members of a New Zealand cricket team

nobody it's just like we do it on the show I'm trying to subliminally tell

them did the producers let stories yeah yeah well let me ask about another

member of that cricket team Michael Cole and there you go so apparently now the

pressure is rising on Cowan and the threat here is that he knows so much

about the operations of the Trump business empire as well as Trump

personally and this is Lanny Davis Lanny Davis lives to serve Hillary Clinton the

way give back to Hillary Clinton is to get Michael Cohen to agree that he has

no other options but to find out everything that's out Trump did from

walking in against traffic to buying a casino or forgetting to pay for it so

all of a sudden throw that out there to get him in trouble letting Davis would

have no problem telling Michael Cohen to do all that well Michael Michael Cohen

used to be loyal to this president and the president values loyalty above all

though I think this tweet storm is like the marketing campaign leading up to the

decision that President Trump is not going to talk about Moller it seems like

the devil that's what the mechanics pose you're in this story say what did he

what can I say that he didn't say as the White House that's me I can lie to you

lie to you all day long which makes me think that the who is not

leaked by the Muller probe the mullah probems nothing to gain by this coming

in I don't think it's more leaking well that's what you said firstly complained

about the leak is usually the leak well let me just say I think it's gonna be a

lot of stormy weather in the politics of late August the feud between Democratic

New York Governor Cuomo and president Trump escalating the latest on their

potential 2020 showdown when we return on the 5:00

Former White House Special Counsel Explains Why Trump And Giuliani Are Freaked Out About Don McGahn - Duration: 1:42.

So I think that you're seeing a

president increasingly lash out

as this gets closer to him,

Andrea.

>> Kathy, you are a former white

house counsel.

And I want to be clear because

I'm not sure the president, at

least initially, understood

this.

Don mcgahn is not the

president's personal lawyer and

he's not even the president's

lawyer, per se.

He's the lawyer for the office

of the presidency.

So there is, yes, you tell me is

there an executive privilege?

Rudy was suggesting there is

executive and lawyer/client

privilege but a weak

lawyer/client privilege here if

at all.

But you're the lawyer.

Help me out here.

>> That's exactly right.

I think Rudy is wrong.

I understand why the president

is wanting to take credit for

the fact that his white house

counsel has apparently provided

a lot of information to the

special counsel, but it really

wasn't a choice.

Wasn't a matter of strategy.

Don mcgahn is the white house

was a fact witness in a criminal

investigation, and he has an

obligation to answer questions

that are put to him.

It's as simple as that.

The D.C. Circuit court of

appeals in 1998 decided this

question pretty defin of itly

and said if you are a government

lawyer working on behalf of the

American people, and you are

advising the president or other

government officials, there is

not a traditional

attorney/client privilege in the

way we think about if you would

go out and hire a lawyer as a

private citizen and you are able

to talk to your lawyer with an

expectation of confidentiality.

So that ship has sailed.

And, you know, did the idea that

somehow president trump allowed
