Trump news on Youtube Feb 20 2019

The fate of California's high-speed rail project was cast into further doubt Tuesday when the U

S. Department of Transportation announced plans to cancel $929 million in grant funds, a move that some viewed as political payback

The action marks an escalation in the battle between President Trump and the state of California since Gov

Gavin Newsom said last week that the project lacked a path to complete a statewide system and vowed to scale back the $77-billion mega-project

Advertisement >  The Transportation Department also said it was "actively exploring every legal option" to get back an additional $2

5-billion grant that is being used to finance the construction of 119 miles of rail line in the Central Valley

The two federal grants represent about one-fourth of all the funding for the project to date — money critical to completing the Central Valley portion and finishing environmental reviews for other segments between San Francisco and Los Angeles

If the funds are lost or tied up in a long legal battle, the state would probably have to either make up the money elsewhere or further curtail the project

Newsom on Tuesday vowed to block the move, arguing that it was political payback by the Trump administration

"It's no coincidence that the Administration's threat comes 24 hours after California led 16 states in challenging the President's farcical 'national emergency,'" Newsom said in a statement, referring to Trump's emergency declaration to secure funding for his wall on the Mexican border

"The President even tied the two issues together in a tweet this morning. This is clear political retribution by President Trump, and we won't sit idly by

This is California's money, and we are going to fight for it."  Earlier in the day, Trump had declared on Twitter, "The failed Fast Train project in California, where the cost overruns are becoming world record setting, is hundreds of times more expensive than the desperately needed Wall!"  Ronald Batory, chief of the Federal Railroad Administration, the transportation agency that made the grants in 2009 and 2010, laid out a lengthy legal argument Tuesday for why the state was out of compliance with the grant agreement

Batory said in a three-page letter to California High Speed Rail Authority Chief Executive Brian Kelly that the state "has materially failed to comply with the terms of the agreement and has failed to make reasonable progress on the project

"  Batory alleged that the state had failed to spend required matching funds, falling short by $100 million as of December

He argued that it will fail to complete the Central Valley construction by a 2022 deadline required by the grant

Batory also said the state has not submitted required financial information — such as reports on what has been delivered to date — that would allow federal regulators to oversee the grants

It also has failed to take corrective actions after regulators raised concerns in 2017 and 2018

The letter also cited Newsom's State of the State speech last week that outlined a plan to build a limited operating segment between Merced and Bakersfield as a "significant retreat from the state's initial vision and commitment

"  The rail authority said Tuesday afternoon that it would respond in detail to those allegations in coming days

Newsom said in his speech that the project needed to be rethought and that the initial run would be within the Central Valley, not the San Francisco-to-Los Angeles route voters approved a decade ago

"But let's be real," Newsom said in the speech to lawmakers. "The current project, as planned, would cost too much and respectfully take too long

There's been too little oversight and not enough transparency.… Right now, there simply isn't a path to get from Sacramento to San Diego, let alone from San Francisco to L

A. I wish there were. However, we do have the capacity to complete a high-speed rail link between Merced and Bakersfield

"  In the hours that followed Newsom's speech, Trump demanded that California return $3

5 billion in federal funds, and headlines proclaimed the Democratic governor was abandoning the ambitious project championed by his predecessors — a story line that Newsom denied and one that his team has scrambled to correct

Although Newsom said the full project will eventually be completed, his tough remarks clearly sent a signal about his tepid support for the project and triggered some managers in the project office to consider leaving

Whether the Trump administration can actually cancel the $929-million grant, which in legal terms is called "de-obligating" the funds, remains unclear

The possibility of ordering a refund of the $2.5-billion grant that is already being spent is even a bigger legal uncertainty

Advertisement >  Former congressman Jeff Denham, a Central Valley Republican who chaired the House rail subcommittee and is an outspoken critic of the project, spent years with his staff trying to figure out whether it would be possible to de-obligate the funding and ultimately decided it could not be done by congressional act

The federal action to terminate the grant wades into uncharted legal territory

"I can't recall of any precedent," said Art Bauer, a longtime state Senate Transportation Committee staffer who was deeply involved in the early planning on the high-speed rail

"They never claw back money. They are saying you are not getting money we committed to you

They are setting up a big fight."  But in this case, Bauer said, "the governor unwittingly gave the federal government a reason to back away from the project

"  Although the federal regulators alleged that the state violated the terms of the grant, Bauer said such performance is typical in federal funding for transportation

"Just look at any highway project. They are never done on schedule or on budget. They are often not done within the original scope

"The supporters of the project are really going to go through the roof," he added

"I imagine a good part of the congressional delegation will gang up on the Department of Transportation and the federal Railroad Administration

But there is no love lost."  The Trump administration action is likely to add further fuel to critics, including those in California, who want the project stopped

Assemblyman Vince Fong (R-Bakersfield) said Tuesday that the entire project should be scrapped and funds redirected to Central Valley projects that would benefit the state

Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno), a vocal critic of the project, said, "It doesn't matter what the state says about not giving the money back," he said

"The feds can, in fact, claw that money back." Times staff writer Sarah D. Wire in Washington contributed to this report

Melania Trump Calls Karl Lagerfeld 'Creative Genius' | Heavy.com - Duration: 4:00.

Melania Trump Calls Karl Lagerfeld 'Creative Genius' | Heavy.com

Melania Trump referred to Karl Lagerfeld as a "creative genius" in a Twitter tribute to the Chanel designer who died at 85 on February 19.

Lagerfeld was one of the few designers who did not boycott the idea of dressing Melania Trump, after she became first lady of the United States in January 2017.

The New York Times reported that Melania had been considering wearing a Karl Lagerfeld design at one of the inaugural balls but ultimately decided to wear American designs.

Melania Wore a Lagerfeld Design to Meet Benjamin Netanyahu in February 2017.

Vogue reported in February 2017 that Melania wore a Lagerfeld design to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

That article mentions that there had been "rumors" that Melania would wear a Lagerfeld creation at the inauguration.

More recently, in April 2018, Melania wore a Lagerfeld designed silver sequined dress for a state dinner with the French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trump Echoed Karl Lagerfeld's Statements About Angela Merkel in 2018.

In May 2018, Lagerfeld said in an interview with Le Point that he was thinking about surrendering his German citizenship over Chancellor Angela Merkel's liberal policies towards Muslim refugees.

During the interview, Lagerfeld spoke out against the rise of far-right political parties in his homeland.

A month later, Donald Trump said that Germans were "turning against their leadership" over immigration.

Several claims made by the president during that speech were later discredited as being false.

Lagerfeld Said: 'Fashion People Are Fashion, They Are Not Politics'.

Earlier, in February 2017, Lagerfeld told the Wall Street Journal's magazine that Americans would have to learn to "deal" with Trump.

Lagerfeld said, "I knew Trump before, when he was not in politics.

I'm not American, but he's a democratically elected president of America, so people have to deal with it." Although, Lagerfeld added, "Fashion people are fashion, they are not politics." Lagerfeld was tapped in June 2016 to design luxury condos in Miami for the Trump Group, which is not affiliated with Donald Trump but rather is the investment firm of Eddie and Jules Trump, according to Forbes.

RUSH LIMBAUGH SAID FOUR WORDS ABOUT TRUMP NO ONE EVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD HEAR - Duration: 6:38.

RUSH LIMBAUGH SAID FOUR WORDS ABOUT TRUMP NO ONE EVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD HEAR

Rush Limbaugh just made major news.

The top-rated talk show host confessed to a surprising truth about the President.

And Limbaugh said four words about Donald Trump that no one ever thought they would

hear.

Limbaugh made a special appearance on Fox News Sunday for an interview with host Chris

Wallace.

Like many in the media, Wallace believes Limbaugh and other conservative media figures are puppeteers

pulling Trump's strings.

During the government shutdown, many in the press – as well as in the Democrat Party

– accused Limbaugh of being the mastermind behind the government shutdown.

They claimed Trump was going to sign a compromise bill, but then Limbaugh pitched a fit on his

radio show and Trump cowered in fear of a conservative media backlash.

Limbaugh took this obvious fake news head-on during the interview.

"If these people in the media, Chris, really thought that I was telling Trump what to do

and when, they'd be calling me, they'd be asking me about it, they'd want to get

down to the dirty details," Limbaugh declared.

Limbaugh continued picking apart the so-called "mainstream" media lie that Trump was

nothing more than a stooge who sat around not knowing up from down unless Rush Limbaugh

or Sean Hannity weighed in.

Republican Presidents constantly face media insults about their intellect.

Even though Dwight D. Eisenhower oversaw the D-Day invasion, the liberal reporters at the

time considered him a fool.

Fake news reporters in the 1980s smeared Ronald Reagan as an "amiable dunce."

Today, alleged "journalists" paint a picture of Donald Trump as a couch potato who consumes

Fox News and talk radio to figure out what he's supposed to think on any given issues.

"People don't really believe what they're saying about this," the top-rated conservative

talk show host continued.

"It's just another effort to continue to try to diminish the president, diminish

Trump, as somebody who doesn't know what he's doing, can't do it without guidance

from the so-called wacko right."

Limbaugh flat out told Chris Wallace that he himself has no influence over White House

policy.

"It's not at all the way he's governing, and there isn't anybody doing what I do

that has a thing to do with actually making policy for this president," he said.

"He cares about what everybody thinks, but I don't make policy."

Trump has praised Limbaugh for having millions of listeners.

So if anyone holds the ability to push policy in any given direction, it is the American

people.

Limbaugh's program gives an outlet for concerned citizens to make their voices heard.

And politicians should be responsive to the concerns of their constituents.

Unlike other Republican Presidents – such as George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush – Donald

Trump actually cares what his base thinks.

The Bushes would lie to voters about their commitment to conservative principles on the

campaign trail and then govern like liberal Democrats once in office.

Trump keeps his finger on the pulse of his base.

Fake news reporters – looking for a way to attack the President without looking like

they are smearing the voters – cast the President as a windup doll for conservative

media.

But it's a lie that Trump supporters easily see through.

Do you agree that the media unfairly attacks President Trump as a puppet of conservative

talk shows hosts?

Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

Ben Carson Drops Ton of Bricks On D.C. Swamp Clears President Trump - Duration: 2:37.

Ben Carson, once a primary opponent of Trump's, has become a staunch ally.

He has saved Americans billions in waste by heading up the Department of Housing and Urban

Development, and he is always willing to defend the President for how hard he is working to

help the country.

This is because Carson understands that the Democrats are the real enemy America is facing,

and he's seen how ruthlessly the Left is attacking the President.

Now he is speaking out on a "devious plot" to remove Trump from office in a passionate

post defending the President.

"During my time serving in the administration I have seen @realDonaldTrump consistently

stand for the people and keep his promises even in the midst of great backlash," Carson

wrote on Twitter.

"This week former FBI Director Andrew McCabe insinuated that he could have convened the

cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment Removing President Trump from office.

Even going so far as to say they put together a count of officials who might side with them

in this devious plot.

One might normally dismiss such and idea without another thought.

However, after past comments and this current admission I don't feel I can stay silent.

During my time serving in the administration I have seen a President who stands for the

people against insurmountable odds.

I have seen no obstruction or collusion and only a heart to do what is right for our country."

Dr. Carson, unlike the liberal media, knows that there is no truth to the allegations

that Trump ever conspired with Russia to win the election, and that Mueller's investigation

is nothing more than a pathetic witch hunt.

Carson went on to highlight the many ways President Trump has benefited the country,

including his work on criminal justice reform, his defense of the unborn, his tax cuts, and

his strong defense of our border.

"I want to unequivocally state that I have not and will not be part of any attempt to

usurp the will of the people or undermine the President of the United States of America

Donald J. Trump," Carson said.

It's reassuring to see that the President has loyal people in his administration, isn't

it?

Far too many of Trump's closest confidants have betrayed the President in order to benefit

themselves, like the President's former lawyer Michael Cohen.

The deep state has it in for our President and will not rest until he is impeached.

But if he has allies like Carson in his corner, the swamp creatures working to undermine him

won't be successful.

SHARE to thank Ben Carson for standing with President Trump!

S. Korean president floats economic concessions for upcoming Kim-Trump summit in Hanoi - Duration: 2:39.

A week before the second high-stakes summit between the leaders of North Korea and the

U.S.,...

President Moon Jae-in has proposed providing North Korea with sanctions relief..... while

talking over the phone with his American counterpart.

Our Presidential office correspondent Shin Se-min starts us off.

President Moon Jae-in told President Trump that Seoul is willing to open economic engagement

with North Korea if it will speed up Pyeongyang's denuclearization process.

During the first phone conversation between the leaders in nearly six months on Tuesday

night-- President Moon reportedly said (quote-unquote) that "we are determined to take up the role

if President Trump asks,... if that's the way to lessen the U.S. burden."

South Korea's top office hinted that Seoul and Washington will share the pursuit of joint

inter-Korean projects,... something it will have to begin with sanctions removal as a

corresponding measure to Pyeongyang's progress on denuclearization.

For Seoul, the bottom line is encouraging Washington to actively offer sanctions relief

to the North during next week's second Kim-Trump summit in Hanoi.

Economic engagements with the North could mean anything from reconnecting railways and

roads between the divided Koreas to tour packages to visit the North-- things that have been

on ice as the U.S. kept its suffocating sanctions in place.

It's the first time President Moon has floated the idea of economic concessions to boost

the prospects for a successful summit,... and also the first time since the South Korean

leader's call for European support received a stony response late last year.

A matter of hours after the phone conversation,...

President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office about the North's economic potential,...

if it chooses the right path.

"I really believe that North Korea can be a tremendous economic power when this is solved.

Their location between Russia, China and South Korea is unbelievable."

Expressing high hopes for the summit,...

President Trump said he's in no rush to denuclearize North Korea-- although he's ultimately aiming

for it.

He also noted that he isn't overly concerned about the current situation as the regime

isn't testing nuclear bombs or launching missiles... and sanctions will remain in place until there's

tangible progress.

Counting down to another historic summit between Kim and Trump,... the leaders of South Korea

and the U.S. pledged to stay in close touch before and after the Hanoi meeting,... perhaps

even arranging another sit down between the allies in the near future.

Vietnam, exemplary case of economic development for N. Korea - Duration: 2:15.

So the world will be watching Hanoi next week ahead of and during the Kim-Trump summit.

Many Vietnamese are proud to be hosting such an important meeting.

Why, though, did North Korea and the U.S. choose Vietnam?

And what lessons could the country have for the North?

Oh Jung-hee has this report.

Vietnam is geographically close enough to North Korea that the North Korean leader can

fly there.

And it has diplomatic ties with both Pyeongyang and Washington.

These are the reasons why the Southeast Asian country was chosen as the venue for the second

Kim-Trump summit -- but there is another reason why Hanoi was an attractive choice.

The U.S.-Vietnam history plays a part here.

Vietnam and the U.S. fought in a war from 1965 until 1975.

But their hostile relations came to an end as they established diplomatic relations in

1995, 10 years after Vietnam started its Doi Moi economic reforms.

In 2000, Vietnam and the U.S. signed a bilateral trade agreement, which expanded Hanoi's overseas

trade.

Hanoi succeeded in developing a free market economy, while keeping a single-party communist

system.

Hanoi has been willing to share its development experience with North Korea -- and Pyeongyang

sent its foreign minister last year to study the Vietnamese model.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that...

Pyeongyang could replicate Hanoi's path to normal relations with the U.S. and to prosperity.

Kim and Trump's choice of Vietnam shows that they're willing to end their hostilities and

start a new relationship.

But more importantly, Trump is making another promise that once Pyeongyang follows through

on its commitment to denuclearize, what's to come next is the 'economic bright future'

-- that Kim Jong-un desires.

Kim's aim of developing the North's economy could be even more evident during his state

visit to Vietnam, where he'll be touring key industrial facilities near the capital, while

strengthening relations with the Vietnamese government.

7-Year-Old Boy Called 'Little Hitler' For Raising Money For Trump's Wall - Duration: 4:19.

There Is Nothing More Sweet Or Innocent Than A Child That Sets Up A Lemonade Stand Or In

This Case, A Hot Chocolate Stand.

But Now That Everything Is Politicized And Children Are Fair Game, The Left Will Stoop

To Harassing Even Children If They Step Out Of Line.

A Seven-Year-Old Boy Was Accosted And Called "Little Hitler" After Setting Up A Hot

Chocolate Stand To Raise Money For President Trump's Border Wall, His Parents Say.

The Child's Name Is Benton Stevens And He Lives In Austin, Texas.

After Watching President Trump's State Of The Union Address On February 5th, Benton

Was Moved To Raise Funds To Help Build The Border Wall Between The Us And Mexico.

His Parents Are Both Active Members With The Republican National Committee.

Benton Has Raised Almost $5,000 Between His Hot Chocolate Stand, A Matching Donor And

Venmo Receipts.

That's Quite An Accomplishment For A 7-Year-Old.

Unfortunately, According To His Parents, Benton Has Lost His Privacy After Videos And Photos

Of Their Son Were Posted To Facebook.

"People Think He's Brainwashed," His Mother, Jennifer, Said.

"Well, Of Course, He Supports Trump Because We Do, And He Hears How We Talk And This And

That.

Call That Brainwashing, But I Call It Parenting Because We Instill Our Values In Him."

Young Benton Set Up His Stand Over The Weekend At A Strip Mall Northeast Of Austin.

His Brothers And Parents Helped Him Set It Up.

They Made Signs And Brewed Hot Chocolate With Him.

Within An Hour, His Parents Say, He Made About $231.

Tragically, He Was Forced To Shut Down After Patrons Complained To The Store Owner Benton

Had Placed His Stand In Front Of.

What Kind Of Petty Monster Does Something Like That?

A Leftist One.

"I Guess Some Liberals – Or Whatever You Want To Call Them – They Were Griping At

The Owner (Of The Store) And Going In And Yelling At Him And Slamming Him On Facebook,"

His Mother, Jennifer, Said.

Extortion By Facebook…

Typical.

All Of This Did Not Stop Benton, Who Is Actually Fired Up By The Responses He Got From The

Public.

He Set His Stand Up Again The Next Day And Was Harassed In Person And Online.

"He Was Called A Little Hitler Yesterday," His Mother Said.

"A Guy Pointed At Him In His Car And Then He Said That We Didn't Like Brown People.

I Don't Understand That At All."

What A Jerk.

The Family Is Standing Strong On Principle Though And Vow That The Money Raised Will

Go Directly Towards Funding The Wall.

"There's A Gofundme Page And We're Also Part Of The Rnc And We're Pretty Connected

There So We Will 100 Percent Make Sure It Goes Towards The Wall," They Said.

"Gofundme Donations Can Be Funneled To The Trump Administration Through A Category Called

"Gifts To The United States" For "General Use By The Federal Government," But Donating

To Specific Government Projects Is A Much More Complicated And Unclear Process, According

To Business Insider.

"In Light Of All The Publicity Surrounding Benton's Border Wall Fundraiser, His Father

Told Fox News That It's Actually Inspired Some Reconciliation Across Party Lines In

Their Texas Town.

"People Who Were Originally Very Mean Have Started Apologizing For What They Said And

Sticking Up For Benton," Shane Said.

"He Is Close To $5,000 Raised Now And Is Thinking About Doing A Free Hot Chocolate

Stand For People From Both Sides Of The Debate Since There Are So Many From Both Sides Sticking

Up For Him."'

The Family Should Send Their Funds To Triple-Amputee Veteran Brian Kolfage For The "We Build

The Wall" Movement.

They Are Already On The Border And Working On The Wall.

And I Bet There Is A Visit To The White House In Benton's Future Somewhere.

#Webuildthewall
