Chuck Schumer's Plan To Stop Trump Ended In Catastrophic Defeat

Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are using the 2018 midterm elections as a springboard

to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

And they settled on one fight to make that a reality.

But their plan just ended in catastrophic defeat.

Schumer and the Democrats are using every measure available to stop the nomination of

Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, which they believed would energize their base

heading into the November midterms.

Since Schumer and the Democrats lack the voters to defeat Kavanaugh outright, the left settled

on trying to kill nomination through death by a thousand cuts.

Schumer and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Democrat Diane Feinstein sent a letter to

the National Archives demanding millions of documents dating from Kavanaugh's time as

Personal Secretary in the Bush administration.

The position of Personal Secretary only manages the flow of paper in the Oval Office, so rarely

would Kavanaugh have put his own thoughts and opinions in writing, but Democrats hoped

that by bogging down the confirmation process under a mountain of documents, it would amp

up pressure on moderate Republicans to turn against Trump's nominee.

But the strategy officially failed when David Ferriero – the head of the National Archives

– informed Schumer that under the Presidential Records Act, the Archives could only respond

to a document request from a Committee Chair.

"In our conversation, you noted that the minority staff of the Judiciary Committee

believe that the special access section of the PRA could be interpreted to include requests

from the ranking minority member.

You then asked if I would seek a new interpretation of this provision," Ferriero wrote in response

to the Democrats document request.

Ferriero then rejected Schumer's request by informing him, "[it]must be from the

chair (or the committee itself), unless specifically delegated by the committee to the ranking

minority member."

Feinstein responded by basically whining that the National Archives following the law was

unfair.

"Your unduly restrictive reading of the law results in one political party having

complete control over what records the Senate will be able to see," the California Democrat

wrote.

Feinstein continued that "a biased denial of document requests to one half of the Committee

is unsupported by the law."

The letter from the National Archives drives the final nail in the coffin of the Democrats

strategy to stop Kavanaugh.

They couldn't defeat him outright, so they sought to delay the confirmation and hoped

a scandal would emerge or at least would keep him off the bench before the Supreme Court's

new term starts October 1st.

But Republicans had pledged to defeat any attempts to string along the Kavanaugh confirmation

by promising to hold the vote as close to Election Day as possible in order to inflict

the maximum amount of political pain on the Democrats.

In 2016, voters who put the Supreme Court as their top issue overwhelmingly voted for

Donald Trump.

So this is friendly political ground for the Republicans this election season.

They were more than happy to engage the Democrats in this battle, but the Democrats just played

their last card and their strategy went bust.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments in Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation

battle.

Robert Mueller's Awful Scheme To Take Down Trump Just Blew Up In His Face - Duration: 10:50.

Robert Mueller's Awful Scheme To Take Down Trump Just Blew Up In His Face

Robert Mueller launched his plan to remove Donald Trump from office.

He announced indictments against two former aides and a guilty plea from a third.

But when the smoke cleared, Mueller's big move instantly blew up in his face.

When Mueller announced that former campaign manager Paul Manafort and former Manafort

deputy Rick Gates would be indicted, anti-Trump forces in the swamp believed they would finally

discover the evidence that proved Trump and his campaign had colluded with Russia.

But it was fake news.

In the 31-page indictment of Manafort and Gates, neither Trump, the campaign, nor the

2016 election were ever mentioned.

Manafort and Gates were brought up on charges stemming from their work as foreign lobbyists

from 2006 to 2015.

Trump immediately took to Twitter to rail against the media for over-hyping the story

and pointed out that this was another swing and a miss for Mueller in his quest to drive

him from office over the Russia collusion theory.

The anti-Trump media then tried to point to the guilty plea of a 29-year-old former volunteer

of the campaign for his false statements to the FBI over his contacts with the Russians.

George Papadopoulos was a foreign policy advisor on a board that met only once in 2016.

He had tried to convince campaign higher-ups that he could set up a meeting with Vladimir

Putin, but was repeatedly shot down.

He pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russians, including one conversation

where it was claimed he was offered thousands of Hillary Clinton emails.

No emails were given to the campaign and no meetings with any Russians took place.

In fact, email exchanges from top campaign officials show they rejected the idea out

of hand.

If Mueller's opening salvo was two indictments for financial crimes from before the campaign

even started, and a low-level volunteer who got over his skis and lied to the FBI, then

he is holding no cards.

His investigation was the swamp's last chance to impeach Trump.

And now it's blowing up in their face.

Trump Bashes Jeff Sessions In Middle Of NATO Trip - Duration: 10:36.

Trump Bashes Jeff Sessions In Middle Of NATO Trip

The president was busy tweeting Thursday morning and challenged his attorney general to act

regarding FBI lawyer Lisa Page's refusal to comply with subpoena and testify before

Congress.

Trump called out Jeff Sessions with the first of several tweets:

"As I head out to a very important NATO meeting, I see that FBI Lover/Agent Lisa Page

is dodging a Subpoena & is refusing to show up and testify," Trump tweeted early Thursday

morning.

He continued, "What can she possibly say about her statements and lies.

So much corruption on the other side.

Where is the Attorney General?"

This is just the most recent example of Trump targeting Sessions.

The president criticized him for recusing himself from the Russia-collusion investigation

and for his "weak position" on former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's

"crimes."

"The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn't tell me

he was going to recuse himself…I would have quickly picked someone else.

So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined…and Sessions knew better than most

that there was No Collusion!" Trump tweeted last month.

Trump let loose his frustration with Session's lack of action in going after allegations

of government surveillance abuse.

He called it a "disgraceful" decision to instruct the Department of Justice's

inspector general to probe the allegations.

"Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive

FISA abuse.

Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc.

Isn't the I.G. an Obama guy?

Why not use Justice Department lawyers?

DISGRACEFUL!" Trump tweeted.

Thursday's comment came in the wake of Lisa Page defying a subpoena to appear on Wednesday

before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees, even as her

lawyer claims she "will cooperate with this investigation."

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Bob Goodlatte said Wednesday that U.S.

Marshals were called in to serve Page with a subpoena to testify and accused her of "apparently"

having "something to hide."

Members of Congress want to question Page regarding her anti-Trump text messages with

FBI agent Peter Strzok, with whom she had an affair.

Donald Trump Embarrasses CNN For The Whole World To See - Duration: 10:38.

Donald Trump Embarrasses CNN For The Whole World To See

President Trump has once again angered CNN with his comments at a press conference with

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday.

The President and Prime Minister were speaking to reporters about both his trip and other

questions brought by the media when CNN's Jim Acosta attempted to ask a question.

The audio from Buckinghamshire UK allows you to hear Acosta over many other reporters say,

"Mr. President, since you attacked CNN, can I ask you a question?"

At that point, President Trump pointed the reporter in front of Acosta.

"John Roberts, go ahead, John," Trump said.

"May I ask you a question?"

Acosta interjected.

"No, John Roberts go ahead," Trump repeated.

"CNN is fake news.

I don't take questions from CNN.

CNN is fake news."

"Let's go to a real network," Trump added.

President Trump and CNN have a longstanding feud with CNN consistently delivering what

many conservatives consider to be negative and even deceptive coverage of the Trump White

House and President Trump calling them out from behind microphones across the country,

and now the world.

Fellow CNN regular and anchor Jake Tapper weighed in on the exchange via Twitter, saying,

"Old enough to remember when other networks came to the defense of Fox News WH correspondents

during the Obama years.

Such did not happen here.

Lesson for the kids out there: no one should ever try to do the right thing with the expectation

it will ever be reciprocated."

While Tapper's children's lesson may have been a needful one, it won't be going to

nearly as many people as whatever lesson Fox decides to teach.

A recent reporting of viewers shows that CNN's numbers are plummeting, even coming in behind

HGTV and the History Channel in primetime viewing.

They came in seventh in total views and was beat out by Nickelodeon and others.

Trump has offered to send Pompeo to North Korea again: Bolton - Duration: 2:04.

Let's start with those comments by U.S. President Donald Trump's top national security adviser.

John Bolton has been speaking to Fox News,.. telling them that North Korea HAS TO start

taking concrete steps on denuclearization.

He also mentioned that President Trump is prepared to send Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

back to Pyongyang to keep the dialogue between the two sides going at the highest level.

Lee Seung-jae reports.

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton says President Trump has offered to send Secretary

of State Mike Pompeo to Pyongyang once again,... to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un,...

and continue the ongoing negotiations on dismantling the regime's nuclear weapons program.

In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday,... Bolton revealed Trump made the proposal in

his most recent letter to Kim,... which was delivered to North Korean Foreign Minister

Ri Yong-ho during last week's ASEAN forum in Singapore.

Asked about the possibility for a second summit between Kim and Trump,... Bolton said there

aren't any plans yet,... but President Trump is "prepared to meet at any point".

He added that what's really needed isn't more rhetoric,... but "performance from North Korea

on denuclearization."

Bolton dismissed North Korea's calls for an easing of sanctions,... saying the Trump administration

will continue to enforce them,... until Pyongyang denuclearizes.

Bolton says the U.S. has lived up to its side of the Singapore Declaration,... but North

Korea,... he feels,... has not taken the steps needed to denuclearize.

Bolton also downplayed the significance of North Korea returning 55 boxes of remains

of presumed American soldiers killed during the Korean War,... saying it's just one part

of the agreement the two sides reached in Singapore.

He went on to say the North should return the remains of all foreign soldiers without

having to be asked... since there's no point withholding remains from a conflict that ended

several decades ago.
