President Trump inclined to declare national emergency if talks continue to stall CNNPolitics

While not the administrations preferred plan, the use of emergency powers to fund the wall "provides a way out" amid a series of contentious meetings and disagreements among Department of Homeland Security officials and Democratic lawmakers over basic facts related to border security, the official said.

"We can only stay like this for so long," said the official, who attended both meetings with congressional officials at the White House led by Trump this week, explaining that factual disputes have hung up discussions.

As the partial government shutdown enters a third week over the funding dispute, Trump has publicly said he would reject any plan that includes less than dollar 5.6 billion for a border wall. The President acknowledged the possibility of using emergency powers to fund the wall during remarks in the Rose Garden on Friday, saying "we can call a national emergency because of the security of our country."

"I havent done it. I may do it," Trump said. "We can call a national emergency and build it very quickly."

On several occasions, discussions became combative during presentations by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. According to the White House official, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi twice cut into Nielsens presentations to dismiss DHS statistics on border security as inaccurate.

"I dont believe your facts," Pelosi told Nielsen during a meeting Friday, according to a source, who said a similar incident took place during a Wednesday meeting in the White House Situation Room. The Wall Street Journal first reported Pelosis remarks.

"In presentations made, they have repeatedly used statistics not supported by fact. Theyre trying to cast every single migrant as a terrorist or someone with a violent criminal history. The secretary has proven herself to not be credible on these issues," a Pelosi aide told CNN.

DHS Press Secretary Tyler Houlton said in response to CNNs request for comment, "We put the facts and statistics out there publicly and transparently to inform the conversation about the humanitarian crisis at our southern border. It is a shame that some congressional staff want to ignore the facts and ignore this crisis. As always, we stand by to explain these difficult problems to those seeking to better understand the issues and find solutions."

"How do we even go from there," a White House official said, referring to the disagreements, as aides to congressional leaders and top administration officials plan to meet again Sunday.

If a national emergency is declared to build the wall, the administration likely will face lawsuits questioning the legality of the move.

"The Presidents authority in this area is intended for wars and genuine national emergencies," Evan Hollander, communications director of the House Appropriations Committee, told CNN. "Asserting this authority to build a wasteful wall is legally dubious and would likely invite a court challenge."

Democrats Introduce Legislation Aimed At Crippling Trump's Presidency - Duration: 3:19.

While the new democratic majority congress is in session, if you know not all the government

is open, but Democrats are in session and hell yeah, they are raring to go and they

are raring to take down.

Donald Trump, democratic representative Steve Cohen, actually within the first day and a

half of being on the job this year, has introduced a series of bills that would create these

constitutional amendments that would severely hinder the rest of Donald Trump's presidency

and to be perfectly honest, improve the overall state of American democracy.

Here's what these bills would do.

First and foremost, there is a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College.

To that, I say, hell yeah.

Where was this 100 years ago?

The electoral college is an outdated concept.

It is something that takes away the will of the people and easily allows any particular

candidate to go out there and only pay attention to a few select areas of the country while

ignoring certain other areas and they can still win a presidential election.

And I know I've seen conservatives argued that if we get rid of the electoral college,

nobody will ever visit Kansas.

Nobody will visit Wisconsin or any of these, you know, Middle America states.

Really, if we were to switch to only popular vote, it would actually give those people

a louder voice than the two or three electoral college votes that some of those states have.

It would finally make them matter.

Electoral College needs to go 100 percent agree with Steven Cohen here.

Another one of his bills would make it a not possible for the president to pardon his or

herself, their family members or their staffers.

Again, another piece of legislation that I can 100 percent get behind and not just for

Donald Trump, just like the electoral college thing shouldn't just be about Donald Trump.

These are about actually restoring a little bit of checks and balances and limiting the

power of the president and increasing the power of the American public.

Something that we should have done on day one, but we didn't as a country, so now we

got to make up for it and we got to fix it.

I know Trump has tweeted multiple times that he can pardon himself.

He is absolutely right to do it.

We don't know if that's for sure yet.

That's something that most likely will be tested in the courts as we move forward with

this administration, but they shouldn't be able to.

If a president, president can effectively pardon themselves than they become above the

law, that means they are some kind of dictator here in the United States.

If the law is no longer apply to them, that has to change and not just for Donald Trump,

but to restore integrity and accountability to the office of the president of the United

States itself.

These pieces of legislation though, they have no chance of passing, are absolutely what

this country needs.

Trump Worried That Former Aides Will Expose His Incompetency Before 2020 Election - Duration: 3:29.

One of my favorite stories to read about Donald Trump is when he's terrified of something,

and I know that's not necessarily substantive, but it is interesting to see how fearful the

president of the United States truly is because we get stories like this all the time.

Know you see the headlines.

Donald Trump afraid that X, Y, or Z terrified of person A, B, or C, well, we've got another

one of these folks except in this case, it turns out Donald Trump is actually a terrified

of every person that has ever worked for him in the Oval Office.

See, according to a new report by the daily beast, Donald Trump is terrified.

It's actually the word that some of the White House insiders use, terrified of former aides

and staffers and cabinet members coming forward and airing all of the presidents dirty laundry

prior to the 2020 presidential election.

Now, here's the thing, before you get too excited, let me go ahead and call me down

a bit because it's not like any of these people are going to come forward and say, oh my God.

I saw Donald Trump committing collusion.

I saw Donald Trump committing campaign.

No, no, no, no.

They didn't witness any crimes being committed by the president of the United States.

They could have.

They absolutely could have, but that's not what the president's even afraid of.

What he is afraid of is any of these aides coming forward and talking about how dysfunctional

and incompetent Donald Trump is as the president of the United States.

That's what he fears the most is people not respecting him.

People not looking up to him, people not admiring him, and those people who worked in the west

wing with him.

They understand just how incompetent and delusional he truly is so they can go out there and they

can tell their stories.

It's not going to put Donald Trump in jail, but what it's going to do is hurt his ego

and it might even hurt the perception that his base has of Donald Trump as this super

strong alpha male type who can do no wrong.

That's not what reality is.

Reality is what those aides and staffers got to see every single day.

They saw an overweight out of shape man sitting his ass on the couch watching Fox News and

angrily tweeting about what he saw on the network.

I mean, he's everybody's Grandpa at this point, except he uses twitter and most other grandparents

don't.

Typically, that's what this is.

He should be sitting in his condo in New York City, in his underwear, eating popcorn, watching

Fox News, not sitting in the Oval Office, angrily tweeting about Fox News while also

bombing other countries.

That's the danger here, but he understands that every perception he gave, every person

he belittled and every staffer that he yelled at, all of them have a story to tell about

him, and those stories are going to absolutely destroy his ego as well as the image that

he has been projecting to his base since day one, and nothing is more damaging to Donald

Trump than hurting his ego.

Trump Averaged 15 Lies PER DAY In 2018 - Duration: 3:33.

Well, now that the year 2018 is officially over, we are several days at this point.

End of the year, 2019.

We have to look back at all of the lies that President Donald j Trump told during the year

2018.

Luckily The Washington Post fact checker has been keeping track of these since day one

as they do with presidents and they found out that Donald Trump averaged 15 lies per

day in the year 2018 5,600 total lies told by the president from January first of last

year to December 31st 5,600 lines, 15 averaged per day.

That is triple.

Actually a little more than triple the total number of lies that he told the year before.

Here's what's interesting, this is a from the article here says Trump spent the first

half of the year and most of December at his 2017 average of $200 to $250 per month.

Not Bad, right?

Uh, but that increased to 500 lies in June, July and August.

Then 600 and September, more than 1200 in October.

And nearly 900 in November, according to the Washington Post Fact Checker, 25% of these

lies, which is why the number went up so high in October.

We're actually told at his rallies, in fact, there were several rallies that the post fact

checker analyzed where he told over 90, sometimes over 100 lies just in his 55 minute speeches.

So 25% of the total lies for the year.

We're told at rallies, 17% came from twitter.

17% of his total lie total came from his twitter feed.

Now here's the depressing part of this story, and that is that his base doesn't care.

The people at the rallies did not care that they were being lied to accept.

Obviously that one guy who was standing behind the president making that face, that guy got

it.

He understood he was being lied to, which is why they switched him out shortly thereafter

with other people.

But nonetheless, the people at those rallies don't care that they're being lied to.

Some of them know they're being lied to and don't care about it.

The rest of them don't even understand that that is the power of Donald Trump.

That is the only a manner in which the man actually has power.

It's his power to manipulate people.

The power to tell them quite literally what you see with your eyes isn't real.

What you're hearing with your ears isn't real.

He told them that and they believed it.

We can't trust our own eyes.

We can't trust our own ears.

We can't trust facts and figures and statistics.

Instead, we have to only believe what you say because you wouldn't lie to us.

Well, in fact, he did.

He did it 15 times every single day last year.

On average.

He did it close to 6,000 times throughout the entirety of the year, 2018 because that

is all the man knows how to do.

He is a serial liar.

He is immune to reality and he only appeals to people who share those same traits that

he has.

DONALD TRUMP DROPS A MASSIVE B0MB ON ROBERT MUELLER, HE IS FINISHED - Duration: 14:19.

DONALD TRUMP DROPS A MASSIVE B0MB ON ROBERT MUELLER, HE IS FINISHED

well as Democrats usher in a new power shift in Congress last night incoming House Judiciary

Committee Chairman Jared Matt Jerry Nadler introduced a bill that

would block President Trump from firing special counsel robert muller this on the heels of

newly elected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying the president's office

does not necessarily protect him from indictment let's bring in Tom

Dupree former Deputy Assistant Attorney General under president george w bush Tom always great

to have you on the program a couple couple questions for you

first of all Democrats clearly day one they make a move to protect robert

muller in this new congress what does this tell you about where this investigation goes

in the new year absolutely look senator this is not a surprise

at all the Democrats were always very open about what they plan to

do if they were to seize power in the house and I think this bill is the first and what

will likely be a long series of Muller protection measures intended to

protect the special counsel in the investigation from trunk termination in my opinion oh I

think it's unnecessary I think the president is beginning a lot of

advice good advice in my view not to fire Bob Muller so I think it's an open

question as to whether this measure is even needed and I don't think it has much of a

chance of making it all the way through the Senate in a joint statement

Nadler along with jackson lean and cohen yesterday released the

following statement quote as the special counsel announces new indictments and guilty pleas

from Trump's closest allies and associates it's clear that the threat

to the Moller investigation will only grow stronger that is their

forecast this is called the special counsel independence and integrity Act it would also

by the way Tom give spent the special counsel written notice of removal

and the opportunity to challenge the move in court obviously with a

republican-controlled Senate it's unlikely that they'll take this bill up but they talked

about it and warned of what they called questionable intentions of

Whittaker I mean I just wonder I wonder if they're gonna get anywhere

with this well I don't look I think they're doing this for political reasons and as you

point out this legislation has a lot of very curious stuff in it including

the ability for Bob Muller if you were terminated to

go into a federal court and litigate whether his termination was unlawful I think this

raises pretty deep constitutional questions any time you place

restrictions on a president's ability to hire and fire members at the

executive branch you start getting into very gray constitutional areas but look as I said

I think that this is the first and what will likely be many attempts by the Democrats to

make political statements to try to insulate Muller I don't think it's

necessary and even as this investigation starts to reach its end

they say that the heat will be turned up on the president I guess the other way to look

at it is the investigation presumably will also be nearing its end

point and so I think there'll be a lot of sense from the president just to say let Muller

play this string outlets in this let's put it all behind us and move

on one more question to you on Nancy Pelosi was asked about the possibility of indictment

of the president she says he's not immune she basically left it open-ended

do you agree with the fact that the president is not immune from

indictment look I think that what Nancy Pelosi seems to be overlooking here is the fact that

the Justice Department going all the way back to the days of Richard

Nixon going up through Bill Clinton under Republican and Democratic

administrations alike they have all concluded that you cannot indict a sitting president

that the constitutionally prescribed the remedy for

presidential misbehavior is the impeachment process it's not indicted a

sitting president I think what speaker Pelosi is saying is well the Supreme Court hasn't

weighed in true enough but the fact that Bob mower has indicated that

he will respect DOJ guidance and not seek to indict President Trump I

think really closes the book on this question she says I think that that is an open discussion

in terms of the law quite clearly you disagree with that Tom Dupre

great to have you this morning Thank You Sandra well right we are just learning as I touched

on in the prior segment here that a federal grand jury in Washington

DC which special counsel Muller's team has been using has been extended the original

cover of 18 months expired today we're told it was extended by an additional

six months there's no way to confirm that but sources in the

courthouse are telling our producers there that the extension is for another six months

typically a grand jury term caps out at 24 months so this is going on

for 18 months so that would mean at the very least that this investigation

will go into the summer and that's just when when it's wrapped up it doesn't necessarily

mean the full report and the full findings are released but it does give

you a sense that this could drag on a while ratchet now from Democratic

strategists crit see Southside and The Wall Street Journal's Dan and Dan what do you think

I suppose Neill it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to extend

out for six months but it is obviously going to go forward now and

you know a couple things here Neil this is the problem with special prosecutors this

is that we used to have an Independent Counsel law back in the Reagan

years Congress ended the Independent Counsel law because these investigations tend to go

on forever years and years and the Independent Counsel

our special prosecutor there is a question of accountability and I would

say here Neil if this thing starts dragging on that once the new Attorney General hopefully

is confirmed William bar I think Attorney General bar Deputy Attorney

General Rod Rosenstein probably should call in robert muller and ask him

to explain exactly what he has and what is going on rather than let this thing simply

extend indefinitely into the future hanging over the american system as

it has for the past 18 months Chrissy what do you think I I think that's

amazing this has been an amazingly successful investigation so far by Muller in that he

has received already five guilty pleas not indictments guilty pleas

from former Trump advisors who are actually quite close to the president of

course including Michael Cohen Paul Manafort and right so of course this is going to keep

going because it seems the way that Muller has conducted his investigation thus far has

been that he's sort of if you think of it about of you know concentric

circles around the president he started with people who are not all

that close to the president now we're sort of zeroing in on the people who are closest

to him were finally sort of getting more and more information about what

our actions that say Don jr. may have taken or Jared Kushner the

president and his family right you can't dog's jaw now right before we're actually getting

information you can also flip it around to see yeah that to use

the president's parlance it's which on they're still they need more time to

get more stuff because they don't have enough stuff you say I say that's again ironic when

you look back at let's say the Bill Clinton impeachment that was because

there wasn't actually anything around whitewater they had to go to the

fact that he had this affair with an intern in the Oval Office that's immoral but not

illegal Moeller has turned over all kinds of actually

illegal criminal activity but I just want to explain the crissy of it

that that Clinton investigation veered while of course from real estate land deals to obviously

a relationship with an inert and is you I raised for you Dan is

it this goes beyond the original finding Russian collusion or anything

like that into business deals that might go back you know quite some time decades even

this is more potentially at the time requested and it might not be the full

six months it might just be extended into something else right well

that is complete conjecture I mean now all we can do is guess I mean these convictions

that Christie was mentioning mostly have been for very low level people

for lying to the FBI not for any Christian apart was about Ukraine had

nothing to do with the Trump camp there were 18 criminal charges so obviously some of them

actually did have to do it this is a sign that obviously he's not ready

to wrap this up and tie it in a bow tie and it's six months bored

conjecture like this going back and forth I cannot imagine that's going to be a

very productive environment in the meantime right well it simply allows you the possibility

of Mullah report leading to a basis for the Democrats

to of file impeachment charges against the president something that's

been hanging over the President's head now for the last 18 months and here you've got

you know people in both parties claiming that they want to get on

with the nation's business meanwhile Robert Mahler is standing there by this

deus ex machina hanging over the entire system when is it going to end Neal all

right we shall see you guys I want to thank you sort of going a little long there all

right it's day five hundred and ninety five of the Muller witch-hunt and

the host John Solomon out with a huge bombshell report tonight excope

Ettore russia evidence about michael Flynn that the US Intel kept secret John Solomon

reporting on Rudy Giuliani's call for Muller to be investigated over obstruction

of justice president's attorney former New York City Mayor Rudy

Giuliani joins us for our Hannity deep state watch tonight mr. mayor how are you welcome

back I wish I wish I had that ring by the way that you have observed

all right so let me start with this first report which is Muller's

should be investigated for the destruction of evidence ken starr agrees with you as well

and that is the erased text messages of the lead investigators at

the start of this investigation well this would be a massive scandal if it

happened to us if it happened if we were producing documents for them only said oh we have 19

thousand texts right a relevant period that the relevant period that

we had that we had erased it was erased by Mahler by the way was erased

by mullahs record officer who claims that he or she looked at them and they don't consent

contain anything pertinent now how can that be struck in Page would text

me every day about how much they hated Trump how much they wanted to get

him out how much they wanted to stop him how they had an insurance policy to get him out

all of a sudden they went to work for Muller and they stopped texting back

and forth it makes no sense what makes sense to me is there are some

highly damaging texts about the about the way this investigation began as a completely

illegitimate attempt to destroy Donald Trump this is an investigation

in search of a crime and they haven't found one yet coercion is

not a crime it's not rape always not a crime firing call me is not a crime the

campaign contributions are not criminal they're not even a violation of the campaign finance

law they're paying off a possible civil judgment this is makeup a

crime make up a crime make up a crime hoping to find one eventually and they

get everybody on press and then they and then they frame certain people look look what they

did to Flint well they did this is outrageous he told them something

they had the paper in their drawers no we'll buy the paper you mean

the transcript the transcript they surveilled him they amassed him they leaked raw intelligence

if they were searching for the truth they'd have put that

in front of him and said general does this refresh your recollection I

know this game I used to play it a lot more ethically than they do but it's even worse

than that because you had the deputy FBI director McCabe say oh you don't

need a lawyer and then you had the FBI director said oh what's four days

into the Trump administration we're not gonna follow the normal process and go through the

White House Council we think we can get away with it that's not experienced

enough Wow get away with what for Dad away with unethical

behavior possibly illegal behavior totally reprehensible behavior on the part of a prosecutor

if general Flynn was sympathetic to the liberal media they'd

be outraged about this they'd be demanding that this case be dismissed

just to teach the prosecutor a lesson well Hillary ever get in trouble for the violations

of the Espionage Act will she ever get in trouble for the destruction obstruction

of justice by destroying subpoenaed emails will the

FISA we know now that the top officials in the FBI and DOJ lied and presented unverified

right information to FISA Court judges to obtain a warrant on a trip

that those four affidavits of false they're false affidavits what would

happen if I did that you'd be under investigation possibly indicted by now would you if you're

my lawyer could you get me off I don't think so not unless

there was one an explanation I didn't know about but the reality is it has to be investigated

and it's not being investigated and has to be investigated for

wiping out those tags at an extremely relevant period of time they say it's part of the Justice

Department retention policy garbage it's not part of the justice but

ROBERT MUELLER DROPS CRIMINAL CHARGES ON TRUMP - Duration: 19:00.

ROBERT MUELLER DROPS CRIMINAL CHARGES ON TRUMP

The Department of Justice just flipped the elections on its head.

They just made an announcement that could change the whole narrative.

And Robert Mueller's association with the whole ordeal is shocking the nation.

Russian Facing Charges for Influencing 2018 Elections

The first criminal case over Russian meddling into the 2018 elections is here.

Elena Khusyaynova is facing charges.

She was charged with a criminal complaint with conspiracy to defraud the U.S.

The Russian is accused of scheming to spend $10 million in 2018 on digital ads.

Her targeted social media ads and web postings are intended "to sow division and discord

in the U.S. political system" according to the charges.

Dan Coats, the FBI, the DOJ, and Homeland Security are taking her actions seriously.

They issued a joint statement claiming the "ongoing campaigns" seek to "undermine

confidence in democratic institutions and influence public sentiment and government

policies."

And claimed the Russian agent's actions are an attempt to sway voter opinions in the

upcoming election.

But that's not all.

Coats and his team said her ads were created to impact 2020 presidential voters too.

It's unclear what her intentions were.

Is she assisting Trump – like the Democrats claim?

Is she helping ANTIFA and the resistance?

Is she part of the scheme to impeach Trump?

That information is not open to the public yet.

There are plenty of questions that need to be asked.

But Khusyaynova's employer linked has created one key question crucial to the Russia scandal.

Did Arrested Russian Agent Stem from Mueller Probe?

Robert Mueller's is after Trump.

His office is scrambling to find any evidence of so-called Russian collusion during the

2016 elections.

But he's come up short more often than not.

Mueller's connection to this case is raising eyebrows.

That's because the Russian agent allegedly works for the company Concord.

Concord is a Russian firm that was targeted by Mueller.

In fact, Mueller's team indicted the company for alleged actions in the 2016 race.

Is her employment with this company a coincidence?

No one knows for sure.

Politico reports her case is not being handled by Mueller's team.

That may be good news for Trump.

Mueller's Russia Probe May Be Nearing an End

Mueller is keeping the nation guessing.

No one knows what he's going to report in his probe.

What they do know, is he's waiting until after the midterm elections.

Some believe this is good news for Trump.

After all, the deep state leaks sensitive information to harm Trump all the time.

So if Mueller had damning evidence, it would be dropped prior to the midterms.

This is all part of the bigger plan to impeach Trump.

But Democrats need to take control of Congress to make that happen.

And a bombshell report from Mueller's team might do it.

Still, polls are showing it's a toss up on election night.

No one can predict who will have control over Congress.

Stay tuned for more breaking news.
