President Trump Just UNLEASHED His SECRET WEAPON Nancy Pelosi SHAKING IN FEAR
good afternoon give a few my friends a minute to get in thank you all for
coming on short notice and a certainly happy new year welcome back it's good to
be back we're gonna kick 20-19 off just slightly differently and I'd like to
welcome a very special guest for an appearance here in the briefing room our
very great president Donald J Trump
nice happy new year happy New Year to everybody well thank you very much I
appreciate that thank you I just want to start off by congratulating Nancy Pelosi
on being elected Speaker of the House it's a very very great achievement and
hopefully we're going to work together and we're gonna get lots of things done
like infrastructure and so much more I know they want to do that very badly so
do I so hopefully we're gonna have a lot of things that we can get done together
and I think it's actually going to work out I think it'll be a little bit
different than a lot of people are thinking so I congratulate Nancy
tremendous tremendous achievement and I just wanted to explain to folks that I'm
with on the day as people I've known very well over the last two years people
that have been extremely supportive of what we're doing on the border they're
tough they're smart they think they love our country they if they have every
quality and I'll tell you what I really know them well and they have the kind of
qualities that we need in our country and they've done a fantastic job at the
border it's ice and it's Border Patrol and a man who's really become a friend
in a sense Brandon I will say this Brandon Judd has been a stalwart in
terms of justice for people in terms of fairness and in terms of the toughness
you need you have some pretty tough situations it doesn't get much tougher
so I just want to thank Brandon and all of the folks I'm gonna have them
introduce themselves right now and also say a few words about the wall about you
can go out a barrier you can call it whatever you want but essentially we
need protection in our country we're gonna make it good the people of our
country want it I have never had so much support as I have in the last week over
my stance for border security for border control and for frankly the wall or the
barrier I have never had anything like it in terms of calls coming in in terms
of people writing in and eating and doing whatever they have to
do I've never had this much support and we've done some things that as you know
I've been very popular so I'm gonna ask Brendan judge to just step forward and
say a few words this group is apprehended last year
17,000 criminals trying to get across the border 17,000 and that's one
category there are plenty of others the other thing that has been so incredible
is what they've done in terms of drugs and stopping drugs and with that and
with everything else plenty unfortunately come through our
southern border what I'm gonna ask Brandon to come up say a few words and
maybe introduce our friends and some very brave people
Brandon place thank you thank you president we really appreciate all the
support that you've given the the border patrol we appreciate the support that
you've given ice my name is Brandon Jed I'm the president of the National Border
Patrol Council I've been a baurel agent for 21 years I can personally tell you
from the work that I have done on the southwest border that physical barriers
that walls actually work you hear a lot of talk from the expert that you hear a
lot of talk that there are experts that say that walls don't work I promise you
that if you interview Border Patrol agents they will tell you that walls
work I worked in NACO Arizona for ten years
we didn't have physical barriers in NACO and illegal immigration and drug
smuggling was absolutely out of control we built those walls those physical
barriers and illegal immigration dropped exponentially anywhere that you look
where we have built walls they have worked they have been an absolute
necessity for Border Patrol agents in securing the border we need those
physical barriers and we appreciate President Trump and all of his efforts
in getting us those physical barriers there's also a lot of talk on this
shutdown that federal employees do not agree with the shutdown I will tell you
that's not true and with that I'd like to introduce art doc wet though he is
the vice president of the National Board Council he's also a longtime Border
Patrol agent out of the Tucson Sector and he's
he'd like to say a few words about the shutdown thank you thank you everybody
once again my name is art Del Greco I am a vice president with the National
Border Patrol Council I want everybody to take the time to understand what's
going on we were all affected by this shutdown we have skin in the game
however it comes down to border security and we are extremely grateful to
President Trump and we fully support what he is doing to take care of our
nation's borders to take care of the future of this United States it has
nothing to do with political parties you all gotta ask yourself this question if
I come to your home do you want me to knock on the front door or do you want
me to climb through that window we fully support the president and all his
efforts to secure our nation's borders
hello everyone my name is Hector Garza I'm the vice president of the National
Border Patrol Council I am also a border patrol agent of the Texas border I just
want to talk about some of those criminals that Border Patrol agents
apprehend on a daily basis we're talking about murderers rapists people that
commit very serious crimes in this country ice has been doing an amazing
job in deporting a lot of these people back to their countries unfortunately
once we can port these people these people will not stay in their country
these criminal aliens that have been released from jail that have been
deported will come right back into the United States however we had a physical
barrier if we had a wall we will be able to stop that again we will thank
President Trump for advocating for Border Patrol agents and again we asked
her congressman to fund border security and fund the border wall thank you so
this meeting was set up a long time ago it just came at a very opportune time
and I thought we were all sitting in the Oval Office working on different plans
and different ways of stopping the problems that we have in our country and
other countries have problems but nobody like ours so the economy makes it even
more so the economy is bringing people in because we're doing so well with the
economy unemployment is now 3.7 percent and
that's among the lowest we've ever had lowest in 50 years and among certain
groups it's the lowest historically so I just appreciate them being here I said
let's go out see the press you can tell them about the importance of the wall
they basically said and I think I can take the word basically out without a
wall you cannot have border security without a very for strong form of
barrier call it what you will but without a wall you cannot have border
security it won't work you see what's just been put out on social media where
thousands of people are rushing the border having a drone fly overhead and I
think nobody knows much more about technology this type of technology
certainly than I do having drones and various other form of
sensors they're all fine but they're not going to stop the problems that this
country has we've never had more people wanting to come to the United States and
that has to do with the economy and has to do with a lot of other things where
we're doing great as a country but the better we do the more people want to
come in so folks I just want to thank you very much it's an honor to be with
you and I'm glad you came I'm glad we came out here and first time I've ever
done this is the first time I've done it I've done it for you and I'm very proud
of that because you have done a fantastic job and I want to thank you
all first thank you very much thank you all very much appreciate it thank you
president Trump raising the stakes of the standoff over building the border
wall during day 13 of the government shutdown the president appearing in the
White House press briefing room surrounded by immigration and law
enforcement officials to say he's not backing down
those same officials supporting the president's call for more border
security a stalemate over money for the border wall set to intensify with
Democrats retaking control of the House Nancy Pelosi is promising to put
pressure on President Trump and Republicans after reclaiming the gavel
and the speakership just hours ago Pelosi is also insisting she's not
budging on coughing up money for the wall all this comes as President Trump
invites congressional leaders back to the White House tomorrow for more
shutdown talks after a contentious briefing on border security yesterday
all right so Dan on a day when and all the attention was on Nancy
Pelosi speaker Pelosi big ceremony and all the nightly newscasts we're going to
leave with that the president comes in at the end of the day and holds this big
press briefing surrounded by ice agents and Border Patrol agents and kind of
stole her Thunder a little bit yeah I thought that was pretty effective did
you it is I think the GOP is generally had a problem over the last few decades
not with the message but with messaging I mean the general idea of low taxes
border security health care freedom and choice resonates with the majority of
Americans the problem is our messaging is terrible we never managed to fit
things on a Wheaties box in other words everything we go to like a methadone
clinic and we're talking about 401ks and the Laffer curve we've never been able
to say it as easily as Trump this is about border security that's his message
right now it's clear he has he's a master at taking over the microphone and
he just did it again and this press conference I think it was a brilliant
idea to come out be snappy get off the stage and it's a nice response to
speaker Pelosi who's been saying for almost a year
walls don't work and you have people all in the border experts who've done this
their whole lives saying everywhere we've put a barrier they've stopped
illegal immigration and you have other experts who say we don't need the kind
of wall that Donald Trump's talking about we need something in the middle of
that so there's a whole list of them you name one will hurt who is a former CIA
officer congressman from Texas on the Contras these guys because they're down
there blinkin member of Congress from Texas who says it's the most costly
least effective way to do border security so there is a difference that I
don't believe that at all okay well it's true the CIA don't come after me but
here is clear so Donald Trump didn't hold a press conference he didn't take
any questions so let's just although that was smart because he takes
questions and then he steps on the message that's true
so two points though on this first you've had the first Republican senator
today Cory Gardner from Colorado come out and say the government should reopen
with no wall funding there are senators on the Republican side who are
vulnerable here who may decide that they will vote for something the House passes
with no wall funding this is a numbers game for the president at this point the
other point I would make is that a lot of people in cable pundits are including
myself have started talking about this daca for wall funding swap my question
is is that even being talked about inside the
negotiating room because you don't hear about it from Trump or the White House
you don't hear about it from Pelosi they're each sort of in their own
corners we're all talking about a possible compromise here but are they we
know something is happening inside the negotiating room the other day I think
Kirsten Nielsen Department of Homeland Security Secretary started talking about
the facts and figures on the border and Chuck and Nancy just cut her off yeah I
thought that was really mean yeah according to one White House source
truck leaned in and and said you should interrupt her right and because she was
she was presenting data and and facts and and she was presenting her case and
then speaker Pelosi comes out and says the president is allergic to data in
facts so you know clearly this is an allergy or an affliction that is
spreading to both parties and that's why we're at an impasse I also don't hear
Nancy Pelosi talking about what the house can do in terms of immigration
because everyone is hung up on the wall they're hung up on that four-letter word
and they can't get past it meanwhile you have a bunch of people who aren't
collecting paychecks others who who aren't going to work and those who are
caught in the middle trying to work in this country but by some they are being
demonized and my question for Dan is what if the wall doesn't work because
really the greatest correlation between immigration in this country and when it
proliferates is when the economy is doing really well
right now the economy is doing really well you also have a lot of illegal
immigration but you generally believe in facts and data right how do you explain
that much that there is a significant correlation between construction of
walls and the decreasing in illegal immigration traffic and drug trafficking
where there in fact there's a wall in place how would you explain that any
other way and you know the president actually just went to Instagram and
released a meme the wall is coming oh my god that's from Game of Thrones the big
picture you've been watching this that is a big picture there's a big picture
you know it's look at it from them okay as part of the media we are living in
Donald Trump's restaurant right because around 4:30 he says you know there's not
enough Trump on your pizza there's not enough Trump and
soup so he leaves the kitchen and he comes out and puts more Trump on your
plate which is what he did it for 30 which helps galvanize the media then
everybody reacts responds but here's what I wouldn't think about the real
threat to security is a rhetorical device conflation okay if you think
about the four areas of security border terror crime and let's say homeowner
home protection guns okay those are the four areas in each one of those cases
there's the device that is used to prevent any kind of improvements in that
area is conflation if you look at immigration conflate illegal immigration
with legal immigration you can't get a wall with terror
if you conflate religion with extremism you get Islamophobia that prevents any
movement in the anti-terror world if you look at policing you conflate law and
order with racism right police brutality police shootings and then when you look
at the Second Amendment you can flake gun crime with actually gun ownership so
this is at active use but tactic used by the left that isn't effective in every
area of security and it's probably most glaring here because we see that they
both agree on the same thing they both want border protection but one won't
budge because they're conflating it with bigotry it's like oh you want a wall you
don't like you don't like brown people that's what it is you don't like the
people from down so it's like it's like no actually if you asked if you asked
the Hispanics here they would actually agree that they believe it's security
too but that conflation is what is destroying every debate that's my big
Peter you say though that the Democrats and the Republicans agree they both want
border security I'm not so sure the Democrats want a hundred percent do we
approve we have proof we have them saying that's my question and I want
someone to pose that to Chuck Schumer why was that okay 2006 but it's not okay
now watch okay designating forty six billion dollars for the kind of border
security that everyone is talking about twelve or thirteen years ago now but
you're not okay with what has changed well if you're a reporter on Capitol
Hill take that question from Kennedy and then ask Kron Chuck Schumer
we can get an answer and then we can find out the truth but we got a run all
right I was just gonna say what is changed from the Senate bill that passed
a hundred to nothing under the last Congress that had no wall funding thank
