White House prepares to REPLACE ailing Ruth Bader Ginsburg as Trump aides quietly signal his allies

She's the subject of a Hollywood biopic and is very much alive, but the White House has been in contact with Senate Republicans about possible replacements for the ailing 85-year old Supreme Court justice.

The White House is even working on a short-list of possible nominees to replace Ginsburg, who broke her 25-year streak when she began missing oral arguments on Monday.

The White House counsel's office is even trading names with the office of new Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham. Politico published a list of them Thursday.

The short list of potential replacements for the ailing Ginsburg include Seventh Circuit judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose name got floated before Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh.

Others identified include Joan Larsen of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Raymond Kethledge of the Sixth Circuit, Britt Grant of the Eleventh Circuit, and Thomas Hardiman of the Third Circuit, who served with Trump's sister, Maryanne Trump Barry.

The White House 'is taking the temperature on possible short-list candidates, reaching out to key stakeholders, and just making sure that people are informed on the process,' a source told the publication.

Graham is still putting his stamp on the Judiciary panel. He met with Trump's attorney general pick William Barr this week, even as some Democrats complained they couldn't get face time with the nominee.

He said he got assurances from Barr that he wouldn't shut down the Mueller probe. Ginsburg continues to recover after doctors removed two cancerous growths from her left lung December 21.

Until Monday, she hadn't missed oral arguments she was confirmed to join the court after Bill Clinton's nomination of her in 1993.

Following her initial in November that resulted in fractured ribs, Ginsburg declared herself 'almost repaired,' and immediately got back to an exercise routine.

'Glad to see you are feeling great,' President Trump told her at an event for the late Justice Antonin Scalia. But in initial comments he also brought up a grudge.

'I wish her well. She said something very inappropriate during the campaign, but she apologized for it,' he the president said in November.

'I wouldn't say she's exactly on my side, but I wish her well, I hope she gets better, and I hope she serves on the Supreme Court for many years.'.

In December, following her cancer surgery, Trump tweeted: 'Wishing Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg a full and speedy recovery!'.

Jeff Bezos' $140-Billion Divorce Is 'Going to be a Beauty,' Trump Says: 'I Wish Him Luck' - Duration: 5:51.

President Donald Trump had a few words for Amazon head Jeff Bezos following news of Bezos' impending $140-billion divorce

"I wish him luck," Trump said outside the White House to reporters who asked Thursday about the personal headlines swirling around Bezos, whom the president has regularly demonized both for Bezos' fortunes at Amazon and his ownership of the , which has closely and critically covered Trump's administration

After his initial remark on the split, a reporter asked Trump, "That's it?" To which the president replied: "I wish him luck

It's going to be a beauty."  (Trump speaks from experience, having divorced two wives in highly public fashion

)  Bezos, who was recently named the richest man in the world, and wife MacKenzie Bezos announced their split in a statement on the billionaire's Twitter account on Wednesday, writing that they had decided to continue their "shared lives as friends

"  The pair have four children together: three sons and a daughter. Jeff is now dating ex-news anchor Lauren Sanchez, 49

PEOPLE confirmed Sanchez is also divorcing her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell

The former  host and frequent contributor to  and shares two kids with Whitesell and also has a son from a previous relationship

The Bezos divorce was first reported by the , which says it conducted a four-month investigation into Jeff's relationship with another woman

(David Pecker, chairman of the tabloid's parent company, is a longtime Trump ally and friend

)  Jeff and MacKenzie, divorcing after 25 years of marriage, don't have a prenup, according to TMZ

Without such an agreement MacKenzie, 48, would be entitled to half of the 54-year-old Amazon CEO's estimated net worth of $137 billion

Making things more complicated, Washington, where the couple resides, is a community property state, which means that all assets and debts accrued during the marriage are considered owned equally by both spouses unless there was a prenuptial agreement stating otherwise

Although it's never been made public whether the pair had a prenup in place when they wed, Steve Mindel, a Los Angeles-based family law and divorce attorney, told PEOPLE that it's highly unlikely they would have been able to keep that a secret

While Jeff would go on to amass an incredibly large fortune, when he and MacKenzie first began their whirlwind relationship in 1993, marrying just six months after their first date, their financial situation was quite different

The two met after MacKenzie graduated from Princeton University with an English degree

She moved to New York City and interviewed at the investment management firm D.E

Shaw — where Jeff was the first person who interviewed her.  The two were engaged within three months after their first date and married within six, according to

Shortly after they married, the couple quit their jobs and moved to Seattle where Amazon was founded

They lived in a one-bedroom rental there before the business took off.  Trump's reaction to the divorce is the latest in a one-sided war of words with Amazon and its chief executive

"Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers," Trump tweeted in August 2017, in a characteristic attack

Back in 2015, he derided both Amazon and the : "The @washingtonpost, which loses a fortune, is owned by @JeffBezos for purposes of keeping taxes down at his no profit company, @amazon

In April, a source speaking to characterized Trump's animosity this way: "He gets obsessed with something, and now he's obsessed with Bezos

Trump is like, 'How can I f— with him?' "
