Attkisson Trump Was Right To Fire Comey; Here Are 12 Reasons Why

by Tyler Durden

A lot of new information has come out in the year since President Trump fired FBI Director

James Comey.

No matter whether you admire Trump, Comey, both or neither - its now difficult to

argue that Trump made the wrong move in removing Comey.

Even many of Trumps detractors would agree that no president should keep in place the

head of a crucial division who - along with some of his top staff apparently worked

to undermine or control the president, and exercised poor judgment in important matters.

Here are 12 ways Comey has proven Trump was right to fire him.

1.

Comey testified that it gave him a queasy feeling when then-Attorney General Loretta

Lynch directed him to publicly refer to the Hillary Clintonclassified email investigation

as a matter. Yet, he did so anyway and did not raise objections.

2.

Comeys FBI, including allegedly his general counsel, was responsible for multiple leaks

to the press with the apparent goal of politically helping Clinton or harming Trump.

On the other hand, the FBI kept a closely-held secret any information that was favorable

to Trump such as the fact that Comey repeatedly told Trump he wasnt under investigation.

3.

Top FBI officials working under Comey conspired to develop an insurance plan in the

event Trump were to be elected.

(One possible implication is that they could not afford to have Trump officials poking

around into what they or other U.S. intel agencies had been doing over the years.)

4.

We now know that Comey apparently delayed notifying Congress that the FBI had discovered

Hillary Clinton emails on the personal computer of soon-to-be convicted sexter Anthony Weiner

(then husband of Clintons top aide, Huma Abedin), prior to the election.

5.

Comey demonstrated bias or questionable judgment in selecting the man he trusted as his number

two in February 2016: Andrew McCabe.

Comey allowed McCabe to be involved in the FBI investigations into the Clinton Foundation

and Clinton classified emails even though McCabes wife had received large sums of

donor money from Clinton interests, including those of then-Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe,

who also was under FBI investigation at the time.

(The FBI granted top Clinton staff immunity from prosecution, didnt record her interview,

drafted an exoneration letter in advance, and ultimately excused Clintons mishandling

of classified information as not being willful.)

6.

Comey allowed McCabes involvement in the Clinton-related investigations to continue

until the week before the 2016 election.

Only then did McCabe recuse himself after a Wall Street Journal article about

the donations to McCabes wife.

(McCabe has said he followed proper procedures and did nothing wrong.)

7.

McCabe says he told Comey in October 2016 that he McCabe had authorized a leak

of sensitive information to the Wall Street Journal shortly before the election.

The Department of Justices Inspector General has since found the leak was to advance McCabes

own interests and was in violation of FBI policy.

(Comey says he doesnt recall McCabe telling him this.)

8.

After the election, Comey informed President-elect Trump about the lurid allegations against

him in the so-called Steele dossier, but admitted in an interview this week that

he withheld from Trump the fact that it was opposition research paid for by Hillary Clinton.

9.

While acknowledging the Steele dossier contained salacious and unverified material,

knowing it was produced with help from an ex-foreign spy and understanding that it relied

on primary sources who were said to be close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Comey

apparently did not open an investigation into this effort to impact the U.S. election and

undermine the American president.

10.

Comeys FBI used the Steele dossier to justify wiretaps before and after the election

on an American citizen who was a Trump associate without disclosing that the evidence

was political opposition research paid for by Trumps opponent.

This appears to be a violation of the FBIs Woods Procedures, and possibly other

policies.

11.

Comey testified that after he was fired from the FBI, he secretly engineered a leak of

FBI material to the New York Times for the political goal of prompting appointment of

a special counsel to investigate Trump.

12.

Comey has publicly disclosed content of private, personal conversations with President Trump,

such as discussions about Trumps wifes feelings.

Trump may not have had the benefit of all of this information at the time he removed

Comey, but in terms of whether Comey was the right person to serve as head of the FBI under

the new administration, Trumps instincts proved

to be correct.

Trump, Abe to hold two-day summit starting Tuesday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Resort - Duration: 2:15.

Turning to sunny Florida,... where U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo

Abe are set to meet for two days....

Mr. Abe is facing a laundry list of damaging issues at home,... and he'll be keen to fly

home with some solid assurances from Trump on the issues of trade and North Korea.

Our Lee Ji-won has more.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be visiting the U.S. for four days starting Tuesday,

where he will hold a two-day summit with President Trump on North Korea, bilateral trade and

more.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Monday that the

summit will be centered primarily on preparation for talks with North Korea as well as economic

issues.

Like Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono in his talks with his South Korean and Chinese

counterparts recently, Abe is expected to press President Trump to bring up the topic

of Japanese abductees in North Korea when he meets with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

And while Sanders did not specify if "trade" includes talks on rejoining the Trans-Pacific

Partnership, a free trade agreement between eleven Pacific-rim countries,... there's speculation

Abe will try to persuade Trump to follow through on his recent comments about rejoining,...

if the conditions are right for the U.S. Abe is also expected to urge Trump to exempt

Japan from Washington's plan to impose hefty tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum.

The meeting provides Abe an important opportunity as he's in dire need of a policy win as he

faces challenges abroad and protests at home.

Having maintained a hardline stance on Pyongyang, Japan was caught on the back foot with the

upcoming North Korean summits and the rapid diplomatic developments on the Korean peninsula.

Japan has since been making efforts not to be left out of the negotiations.

Abe is also reeling from a cronyism scandal that has caused his approval rating to plunge

to historic lows.

Abe be will be staying at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort for the second time, holding

summit talks on Tuesday and Wednesday and playing at least one round of golf with the

U.S. leader.

Trump splits with Haley on Russia - Duration: 1:39.

The Trump White House is taking an increasingly hardline stance against Russia's current foreign

policy.

But President Donald Trump doesn't seem to be entirely on board.

Case in point: the recent economic sanctions U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said

would punish Russia's support for the Syrian government.

Those sanctions are now suspended indefinitely because Trump reportedly had some concerns.

Haley has clashed with her Russian counterpart over Syria several times: She recently said

Russia's "hands are covered in the blood of Syrian children."

Trump has also called out Russia, but he tends to sound more hopeful about the prospect of

working together.

"Russia must decide whether it will continue down this dark path, or whether it will join

with civilized nations as a force for stability and peace.

Hopefully, someday we'll get along with Russia and maybe even Iran, but maybe not."

Trump's optimism likely stems from the personal rapport he's built with Russian President

Vladimir Putin, whom he recently invited to the White House.

The Wall Street Journal notes Trump may be trying to preserve that relationship to win

concessions from Putin later on.

But Trump's personal feelings haven't stopped the White House from cracking down on Russia.

His administration has implemented congressionally mandated sanctions against the country, kicked

out Russian diplomats and inked an arms deal to help Ukraine fend off Russian aggression.

Russian lawmakers had prepared their own round of economic measures to hit back at the prospective

U.S. sanctions.

Now that those sanctions are in limbo, so is the Russian response.

Judge finalizes $25 million settlement in Trump's fraud case - Duration: 3:29.

Judge finalizes $25 million settlement in Trumps fraud case

It took a while, but the Trump University fraud case officially reached its end last

week. The political fallout, however, hasnt quite run its course.

USA Today reported the other day on the end of the settlement agreement.

A federal judge finalized the $25 million settlement between President Trump and students

of his now shuttered Trump University on Monday, with New Yorks attorney general claiming

victims of Donald Trumps fraudulent university will finally receive the relief

they deserve.

The order from U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel the same Indiana-born judge Trump

called biased because of his Mexican heritage comes a year after he first approved the

settlement. It marks the end of two class-action lawsuits and a civil lawsuit from New York

accusing Trump of swindling thousands of Americans out of millions of dollars through

Trump University, in the words of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

The circumstances are nothing short of bizarre: a sitting president of the United States has

written a check for $25 million to a group of Americans who credibly claimed that he

ripped them off by perpetrating a fraud.

You know things are bad for a president when a story like this goes almost entirely unnoticed

by the public, eclipsed by a dozen or so more pressing scandals.

Regardless, after keeping a close eye on this case for a long while, I think its a shame

to see the case end because Ive long believed this is one of the underappreciated

controversies of Trumps recent career.

Indeed, as regular readers may recall, the finalized settlement agreement wasnt supposed

to happen at all according to the president.

During the 2016 presidential race, Trump boasted during a debate, This is a case I could

have settled very easily, but I dont settle cases very easily when Im right. After

boasting that the Better Business Bureau gave Trump University an A rating a claim

that turned out to be a brazen lie Trump added, Again, I dont settle cases. I

dont do it because thats why I dont get sued very often, because I dont settle,

unlike a lot of other people. (The assertion that he doesnt get sued very often

also turned out to be a demonstrable falsehood.)

After the election Trump settled the case he said hed never settle shortly before

he was supposed to take the stand in his own fraud case.

And what a case it was. The Washington Post reported in 2015 about students sometimes

max[ing] out their credit cards to pay tens of thousands of dollars for insider knowledge

they believed could make them wealthy.

What Ive long found important about this story are the parallels between the unaccredited

school and Trumps rise to political power: a group of Americans, looking for easy

solutions and wowed by a celebrity making too-good-to-be-true promises, put their faith

in an accused scam artist, only to learn that Donald Trump had no intention of delivering

on outlandish pledges that never really made any sense.

Rank-and-file voters, however, do not have the option of filing a class-action lawsuit.

As for the lingering consequences, the Dallas Morning News had a report the other day that

stood out:

President Donald Trump named former Texas Deputy Attorney General David Morales on Tuesday

to a trial bench in Corpus Christi. Morales had been recommended to the White House by

Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

Morales made headlines during the presidential campaign when news outlets learned that in

May 2010 the states consumer protection division had sought permission to pursue what

it believed was a strong case against Trump and Trump University. Investigators asserted

that Texas taxpayers had been bilked out of more than $2.6 million, and sought to file

a $5.4 million lawsuit.

Morales rejected the recommendation. Texas dropped its investigation. Trump University

voluntarily ceased operations in Texas.

Last week, Morales was apparently rewarded for his trouble.

Trump's Personal Love Email To Melania Attributes The Man He Is Today To What She's Done For Him - Duration: 5:22.

Donald Trump's Personal Love Email To Melania Attributes The Man He Is Today To What She's

Done For Him The First Family comes under a lot of fire

for many things.

While the President is working to run the free world, those who wish that he weren't

in office, work to undermine both his work and his family.

President Trump is unique in many ways, not the least of which is his family history.

In recent history, there hasn't been a president and third wife in the White House, and while

that brought up a lot of debate about their personal history during the election, ultimately

the American people decided that it was acceptable and elected him anyway.

Since taking office, the president and his family have suffered attack after attack.

At every turn, enemies of the president try to divide the first couple.

However, even though we will never know the inner workings of their relationship, every

outside indicator tells us that the couple is not just strong, but poised to stay that

way for years to come.

According to the Daily Mail, despite his jam-packed schedule, the president took time out to celebrate

his wife's upcoming birthday:

Trending: YUGE! Trump Just Did What No President Has Been Able To Do in 65 Years!

The WAR IS OVER!

It's Official!

'President Donald Trump has paid tribute to his wife Melania, calling her his 'rock'

and 'foundation', in an email asking supporters to celebrate her birthday and donate to his

campaign.

In the email, he wrote: 'Family is one of life's most wonderful pleasures, and serving

as America's First Family has been a truly great privilege!

This month, our family is looking forward to a very special day.'

'Please join us in celebrating the First Lady and my beautiful, kind-hearted and exceptional

wife Melania's birthday by signing her card.

'Melania is my rock and foundation, and I wouldn't be the man I am today without

her by my side.'

'She's the cornerstone of our family, and an incredible mother to our son, Barron.

I'm so proud of her accomplishments, and I hope you'll wish her well on her special

day.'He shared his affectionate comments about the First Lady amid the scandal over

claims by porn star Stormy Daniels that they had an affair.

Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid the adult actress $130,000 in hush money

to keep quiet about her alleged affair with the president.

She also went on CBS' 60 Minutes last month to reveal the details of their alleged tryst

to Anderson Cooper.

Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti has said the porn star will attend Michael

Cohen's court hearing on Monday.

Avenatti believes some of the documents seized on April 9 relate to Daniels, he said on Friday

from the courthouse.

He followed those comments up with a suggestive tweet that 'the weather forecast for Mon

looks very Stormy.'

Cohen previously admitted paying Daniels $130,000, which she said was payment in exchange for

an agreement not to discuss an affair she claims to have had with the president.

When news first broke that it was suspected Daniels and Trump had an affair around the

time of the birth of his youngest son Barron, Daniels denied the sexual relationship.

However, after Cohen spoke about paying Daniels $130,000, she claimed the agreement had been

breached, setting her free to tell her story about her alleged physical encounters with

the president.

Trump has denied that he had an affair with Daniels, and also claims she made that he

had her threatened to remain quiet about their alleged romantic relationship."

To the liberal way of thinking, the fact that President Trump is accused of the affair with

Daniels, that must equal a nightmare for him in his marriage.

This theory is supposedly substantiated by the fact that the First Lady isn't overly

expressive about these types of things.

However, according to a Newsweek article, that's just how she is:

"First lady Melania Trump has been subject to a narrative that she is unhappy with her

life by President Donald Trump's side since he took office in January.

The public fascination with Trump has ranged from a Vanity Fair article about her 'burden'

as first lady, a Saturday Night Live sketch depicting her as a bored housewife, a short

story by feminist author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie painting her as lonely.

So, what is she actually like?

'There's a real mystery with the first lady,' Bennett told fashion website Daily

Front Row.

'I sometimes call her the unicorn, because people are fixated by her.

She doesn't emote a lot—she's quiet, so there's a lot of differences (not saying

good or bad) from what we're used to.'"

To say that their evidence that there is trouble in the White House paradise is anecdotal is

giving it more credit than it deserves.

While there might at some point be problems with the First Couple, at this point, it is

not only good for the couple, but the country that we take them at their word and accept

that there might be an unlikely relationship that we don't understand, but it still works.

Late-Night Hosts React to News Sean Hannity Was Client of Trump's Lawyer | THR News - Duration: 2:53.

"This is crazy!"

"Thank you."

After news broke on Monday that Fox News host Sean Hannity

is also a client of President Donald Trump's personal

lawyer Michael Cohen, the late night hosts were ready to pounce.

Hannity, who said on his radio show Monday that he's occasionally had

"brief discussions" with Cohen about legal issues that he wanted

"his input and perspective on," was revealed as Cohen's mysterious third

client after a federal raid of the lawyer's office last week made headlines.

On ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' the host, who recently had a public feud

with Hannity, was quick to  jumped on the link

between Cohen and the Fox News host.

Addressing Hannity's tweet about Cohen in which he claimed to have never

retained the attorney, received an invoice or paid legal fees,

Kimmel noted: "It's interesting, he has a lawyer he doesn't pay."

"By the way, I'm thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer

cause he only has three clients, apparently he works for free.

He doesn't take money from any of them."

Kimmel also referred to Hannity as the

"chief propaganda guy for Trump's legal team," and quipped...

"If this is the biggest witch hunt in history as they say it is,

we're running out of spots on the broomstick. It's getting very full."

Over on CBS's 'The Late Show,' Stephen Colbert marveled that

attorney Michael Cohen, a.k.a. the "sad neck with hair" was in court with his lawyer.

"Pro-tip for the president, when your lawyer needs a lawyer, you need a lawyer."

The host then graciously threw to a CNN clip

to allow the network to reveal the Hannity news.

"CNN, you've earned this."

"Michael Cohen has just disclosed, in court, that the client

who had requested to remain unnamed was Sean Hannity."

Cut back to Colbert, who was then drinking red wine in a leather chair, and...

can you do that on network TV? The host later raised a valid point when he said

"Cohen only has two other clients and all he does for them is pay off mistresses."

"Which raises the obvious question: who did Sean Hannity have sex with?"

Over on Comedy Central's 'Daily Show,' Trevor Noah said that it

wasn't a "good look" for Hannity to be one of Cohen's clients.

"You know Sean Hannity is probably on the phone with his wife like,

'Hey honey, it's so weird how I used the guy who pays off

mistresses to get me out of that parking ticket.'"

Noah also criticized Hannity for not disclosing that he was

Cohen's client, despite reporting on the attorney many times on his show.

"I mean, even Instagram models have higher ethical standards

because they'll be like, 'Drink Tummy Tea. By the way, I'm sponsored by Tummy Tea.'"

As he showed clips from Hannity's show last week,

in which the host addressed the raid of Cohen's office, Noah noted...

"You know, now that we know that he was working with Cohen,

that looks less like a news show and more like a guy really

stressed giving himself a pep talk. He's just like, 'Come on!'"

Also on Comedy Central, 'The Opposition' host Jordan Klepper had a different take.

"Just because Sean works with the fixer,

doesn't mean he's done anything that needs fixing."

"I should know because I'm Michael Cohen's secret fourth client."

To watch full clips of the late night hosts reacting to the Sean Hannity news,
