World War 3: Donald Trump meets top generals in 'calm before storm' amid North Korea fears

The US President made the comment during a photo op with military personnel sparking a frenzy of questions from the reporters in the room.

Speaking at the gathering said: "Do you guys know what this represents?" Journalists present asked the Republican President to tell them what he was referring to. Trump responded by saying: "I don't know, maybe it is the calm before the storm.

"We have the greatest military people in this room, I will tell you that." When asked what "storm" he meant Trump simply responded: "You will find out.".

As the room erupted into questions Trump appeared to dismissed the journalists and end the photo call by thanking them for coming.

The setting of the ominous exchange, in the presence of top military brass, has sparked speculation Trump's comments may have been in reference the escalating situation in Korea.

accused the US of provocation after US bombers flew near the countries coast in a show of strength and threatened to unleash nuclear strikes against America.

The US President recently unveiled a tough round of sanctions against the secretive dictatorship in response to repeatedly defying the international community.

The hermit kingdom has vowed to continue its pursuit of a nuclear arsenal capable of reaching the US mainland with nuclear and missile tests.

Trump spoke about the secretive state before the meeting saying the we will do what we must do to prevent the North Korea threatening the US and its allies.

He continued: And it will be done, if necessary — believe me." He also said he hoped the military leaders to provide a "broad range of military options, when needed, at a much faster pace".

Reporters also asked if his comment were in relation to ISIS or Iran who he also spoke about with the renewal for the nuclear deal approaching.

Trump FAILS Puerto Rico! - Republicans in Congress Don't Care - AM Joy - Duration: 10:35.

the crisis in Puerto Rico presented Donald Trump with the opportunity to

step up and embody one of the most significant roles of a president during

a time of national crisis the role of comforter in chief during times of

tragedy whether natural or man-made Americans have looked to their

presidents for hope and reassurance and how presidents respond for better or

worse can wind up defining their legacies Ronald Reagan rose to the

occasion after the Challenger disaster in 1986 George W Bush was praised for

his bullhorn addressed to first responders after 9/11 though he was

later condemned for his flyover after Hurricane Katrina President Obama

offered hugs and reassurance to the people of Joplin Missouri after a deadly

tornado there in 2011 and then we have Donald Trump the president who responded

to a desperate plea for help in Puerto Rico with mean tweets joining me now is

michelle bernard president of the bernard center for women politics and

public policy Corrine jump here senior advisor for moveon.org

media and political analyst Steve Adubato and Republican strategist and

then Siegfried and thank you all for being here I'm gonna start with the

ladies here at the table and I'll go to I'll go to you first to read on this

Quinnipiac has a new poll out that has some pretty dire numbers for the Donald

Trump of the way he is performing his presidency thus far and it was taken you

know so a lot of it is during this era Maria period 56% say that he's not fit

to be president that's not different than when he was running on those who

say they are embarrassed to have a best president 51% majority say they're

embarrassed to have him as president 57% disapprove of the overall job he's

doing and fifty fifty seven percent disapprove of the overall job that he's

doing so these are not good marks they're not you know they're not good

marks do you think that Donald Trump changes any of these numbers by the way

that he's performing visa vie hurricane Maria or is this just the way it's gonna

be for for this is just him it's definitely just him it's who he is I

mean just when you think the president hits rock bottom he finds a way to take

it even lower and I think when you look at Puerto Rico it really brings out the

worst toxic brew of Donald Trump which is the racism

which is incompetence and also just the the egomaniac that he is and that's what

we're seeing I mean we were talking about 3.4 million people who are really

trying to survive and and fighting for their life they have no medicine the

food is running out there's no water no electricity and this is what he does

from a luxury resort right tooth and then talking to the poles as well like

he's making money hand over fist what he's doing every time he's at golfing at

his resort and he has no shame about it but yet he's ok with attacking the mayor

from the 18th green that's what he does Michelle you know it's interesting that

uh just it just so happens that the attacks on the mayor of San Juan a woman

of color happened to come a year to the day after Donald Trump went on our

tweets from attacking Alicia Machado also a Latina who was the former Miss

Universe he does seem to have a reflex when it comes to women of color yeah

yeah with all women but particularly with women of color I mean the way that

he has attacked her is just absolutely like revolting you know I was speaking

with a tenured professor from Howard University last night who's a

psychologist to try to get a grasp on what it is we're dealing with

yeah with Donald Trump she's he's not her patient she's never spoken him but

she watches the news like everyone else and she's explaining to me the level of

narcissism that we see in this man and the fact that the country has to deal

with it and it's that narcissism that led him to attack the mayor of San Juan

San Juan and I don't know if you see but their photos all are online you know

with pictures of them at the exact same time yeah he is hitting the ball on the

green just in ways saving in water yes saving wild water Rico yeah and they

don't have to question yourself is it because she's a woman is it because

people speak Spanish there is it because he made me was not sure that these are

actually Americans and that Puerto Rico is you know a territory of the United

States government I mean whatever it is it is absolutely repulsive this makes

the response to Hurricane Katrina look it makes like Katrina look good yeah

like it was just sweet people trying to do their best and couldn't do it this

looks intentional yeah and I think with Katrina the idea what

was sort of indifference or incompetence here where it seems to be you know

malice yeah you know you you you you're you know you write about leadership this

is what your book was about this is a lot of what you talked about and Donald

Trump is of course the President of the United States and so it's sort of the

person who's in this position of supposed to you know sort of unify the

country in moments like this but this was his Treasury secretary explaining

why instead of doing that he attacked the mayor of San Juan this was his

Treasury secretary trying to explain that to us call me the press

you mentioned the governor but you're not mentioning the mayor why did he

attack the mirror she's in a situation of a pretty desperate situation and seem

to lack a little bit of empathy for the situation at the time why did he do this

well I think as you know when the president gets attack he attacks back

and I think the mayor's comments were unfair given what the federal government

is done Steve is that a good enough explanation when you're talking about

the president united states joy I want to trying to control the emotions the

feelings I have right now screw politics this is not about

politics it's not about Democrats Republicans conservatives or liberals I

happen to be a Roman Catholic doesn't matter what religion you are whether you

believe in religion the human side of this the human pain and suffering that

we all see in Puerto Rico 3.4 million people suffering the fact that the

president United States chose to attack mayor Cruz of San Juan forget about

where she's coming from politically he attacks her and says she's been pushed

by Democrats to say nasty things about Trump the insanity of that while people

are suffering to make this about himself as he said by other people before the

golf thing speaks for itself he talked about optics of firing you know one of

his cabinet members for optics because of private planes look at those optics

right now look at those pictures I say to every Trump supporter around this

country I don't care if you think that we're the progressive liberal Trump

bashing media ask yourself what those optics tell you ask yourself if those

pictures tell you that we have a president that gives a damn about people

who are suffering forget about who praises him and who criticizes him rise

above it and so for his second to say when he gets attacked he attacked

back I wasn't a big fan of Barack Obama in a lot of situations when he got

attacked he rose above it when he got attacked

he found the good in people and tried to bring them together this is a president

who gets a plus for divisive this and a big F for bringing this nation together

and in my book leadership is about bringing people together in the worst of

times and yet and yet you know there for some people there's a sort of a method

to the madness right lin-manuel Miranda's father at least Miranda a

former longtime public official in New York and of course they being both are

Puerto Rican and so and very proud wrote a piece in the New York Daily News in

which he he said to Donald Trump speaking to him we all know what the

president is really doing throwing red meat to the only supporters he has left

who feast upon his insults about minorities the Republican Party members

of it they're very few that have said much in response to what Donald Trump

has done is it because they too are in thrall to that same base who they know

this is going to be popular with yes they are a little bit scared of blowback

from the base but let's look at what's going on here what is happening in

Puerto Rico and with the president's disgusting tweet attacking the mayor of

San Juan yesterday it's a symptom of a larger overall problem the president is

isolated impotent and has an overblown sense of grievance and this is extending

to everything he feels he needs to be getting credit for things he shouldn't

be getting credit for because he has very few accomplishments he's becoming

isolated in that congressional Republicans largely ignore him and just

don't even talk about him or honor his requests from the White House he has no

real legislative track record he has only executive orders to show for what

he's done as a president and he's got a further divided nation at the same time

when we look at what he was saying yesterday I'm it sounds like a valley

girl oh my god there in gray I mean why don't they appreciate me there's just

this conspiracy we have a high school girl as president of the United States

essentially who's trying to make it all about him in his ego as opposed to the

fact that 55% of the people in Puerto Rico have drink don't have drinkable

water 90% don't have cell service and only 5%

have electric power the White House did drop the ball in the second week on

Puerto Rico and the optics are very bad and deserve

so but it's now all about how people don't appreciate the very great things

that are going on there I think the word he used impotence I think is really

important here and it's key I mean if you think about the optics the mayor

there was no direct attack on Donald Trump and the woman humbles herself and

goes on on worldwide television and is begging for help to save lives and the

best that he could come back with was an attack and statements that they want us

to do everything for them you know it's not a direct attack they're saying

10,000 troops is not enough people need water people need food people need to be

evacuated please help us and so right so you have to question yourself are we

really looking at what happens when when and when a man like Donald Trump feels

impotent this is the best he can give the country the country deserves more

yeah it's be quickly joi real quick Sunday morning people across this

country many of them go to church they worship they don't but they have a sense

that it's Sunday for all those Trump supporters when he spoke to the

evangelicals and tried to quote try to quote the Bible terribly ask yourself

what Jesus would have done ask yourself what any decent person would do that is

not what the president is doing people need to check themselves and ask

themselves why they're defending this president at this time with so many

people suffering and just asking begging for help this is not political it's

humanitarian or in the case of a lot of members of the Republican Party in

Washington just being quiet and silent about it on the shelling Kareem will be

back thank you guys very much we'll be back a little bit Steve Adubato and

Evans Siegfried thank you gentlemen thank you

U.S. will do what it must to stop North Korea's threats: Trump - Duration: 0:39.

U.S. President Donald Trump threw another cryptic warning directed at North Korea.

That his country will use all means necessary... to counter the regime's threat.

At a meeting with senior military officials Thursday,... he discussed a range of security

issues... including Pyongyang and the Iran nuke deal.

Trump emphasized Washington's ultimate goal... is denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula,...

and added the U.S. will do what it must... to protect itself and its allies from the

hermit kingdom's threats.

The comments seem to resonate the tone set in his speech at the UN General Assembly...

where he vowed to "totally destroy" North Korea... if Washington was forced into action.

California defy's Trump by protecting 2.6million ILLEGAL immigrants 'who live in fear' - Duration: 4:03.

California defy's Trump by protecting 2.6million ILLEGAL immigrants 'who live in fear'

The bills, signed by the state's Governor Jerry Brown, inherently defy the hard-line taken by Donald Trump that attempt to solve the country's issues of immigration.

Mr Brown said: "These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear every day.

This action protects public safety and ensures hard-working people who contribute to our state are respected." The legislation, that was approved last month and will be enforced from January, limits law enforcement officials from helping federal immigration authorities round up and deal with illegal immigrants.

Law enforcement officers will also be unable to detain an illegal immigrant on a hold request from the federal government unless a felony or warrant is involved.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has displayed his protest against the new bills that will ensure that 2.6million illegal immigrants stay in the state by labelling them "sanctuary jurisdictions".

He added: "Sanctuary policies endanger us all, and especially the federal immigration officers who are forced to pursue criminal aliens outside of jails and prisons." The bills, that limit the effectiveness of law enforcement officers, were addressed by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders who stated that Washington is "spending every day we can trying to find the best way forward".

Sanders continued: "The President will be laying out his responsible immigration plan over the next week.

"And I hope that California will push back on their Governors, I think, irresponsible decision moving forward." California has long been a rebellious state that goes against the will of the President - the state was the first to legalise medical marijuana in 1996.

Donald Trump is famous for his firm stance on immigration with his promises to construct a wall between the US and Mexico being one of his most prominent policies on the campaign trail.

Contractors are currently at work on eight prototypes for the wall that will severely inhibit the number of illegal immigrants crossing America's southern border.

Once constructed, the US Customs and Border Protection will decide which of the prototypes, if any, it wishes to use on the barrier.

Donald Trump stated his intention for the wall to be see-through, indicating that traditional concrete designs would be shunned. Trump has previously reiterated that Mexico will pay for the construction of the wall.

The President tweeted: "With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have the wall. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other.".

Trump Cabinet Members Create "Suicide Pact" In Case Any Of Them Get Fired - Duration: 3:54.

By now, I'm sure everybody's heard about the drama that's been unfolding about Secretary

of State Rex Tillerson over the last few days where it was reported over the summer he called

Donald Trump a moron.

When asked about it in an interview he didn't refute it, although Donald Trump insists that

Tillerson did not in fact call him a moron.

Well, as it turns out, as this story was developing, BuzzFeed released a report saying that Treasury

Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson have all formed a kind of suicide

pact, meaning that if any one of them gets fired, the other two are going to quit their

jobs as well.

You can't lose one without losing all three.

The report didn't necessarily go on to state why they had formed this suicide pact, but

presumably it's so that they all have a little bit more power within the administration,

and so the president knows that I can't get rid of one of them without losing all three.

Now, Republicans have come out in the last few days and said that Tillerson, Mattis,

and John Kelly, Donald Trump's Chief of Staff, not Steve Mnuchin, are the only ones preventing

chaos within the White House, so it's interesting as to why Mnuchin would be included in the

suicide pact and not General Kelly, but regardless, Mnuchin's in there, and to be honest, I say

let them go.

Let all three of these people go from the administration.

They might be preventing what some Republicans are calling chaos from happening within the

White House, but not a single one of them is doing a decent job.

None of them are good enough to be doing what they're doing save maybe for Mattis, but Mnuchin

and Tillerson?

No.

These guys came from industry.

They have no idea how the government truly works.

Rex Tillerson has been talking to people in Korea and people in Russia trying to work

out oil deals for his former employer, the company he ran, Exxon.

Mnuchin is a guy who actually should be in prison rather than serving as the Treasury

Secretary, so their little suicide pact, I'm all for it, because I'm all for every one

of them getting removed from the Trump Administration, because they're not doing any good.

Oh, maybe they're preventing Donald Trump from launching nuclear weapons.

Maybe they're not.

We don't know.

All we do know is that if Donald Trump actually wanted to do something, he's going to do it

anyway regardless of what these three people tell him he should or shouldn't do.

They're not serving any actual function within the White House other than to make this country

look even worse than it already has gotten under Trump.

They are not good at their jobs, again, save Mattis.

Mattis not horrible, but Mnuchin and Tillerson, it's time for these guys to go.

I know Donald Trump wants them to go, so let's see how serious they are about their suicide

pact as soon as Donald Trump decides that he's had enough of Tillerson and he can't

take this moron talk any longer, because we already know it's starting to get under Trump's

skin, and we know that Tillerson did not refute the fact that he said it.

Let's see how this unfolds in the next few days, and I'm sure it's probably not going

to go in Donald Trump's favor, but I'm more interested in seeing if these three people

in the administration actually adhere to their suicide pact.

Whiny Donald Trump Asks Why Senate Isn't Investigating "Fake News Networks" - Duration: 3:45.

Donald Trump clearly woke up on Thursday morning on the wrong side of the bed because he immediately,

first thing this morning started tweeting out about the alleged fake news media.

In fact, he went as far as to say that the Senate Intelligence Committee needs to be

investigating the fake news networks here in the United States.

He said "Why isn't the Senate Intel Committee looking into the fake news networks in our

country, OUR was in all caps to see why so much of our news is just made up.

Fake." Trump tweeted.

First and foremost they actually kind of are already looking into the whole fake news things

by investigating those Russian ads that were purchased on Facebook and Twitter, so I wouldn't

say that they're not investigating the fake news.

Furthermore, and this is something that you need to get drilled into your brain, perhaps

tattoo it across your forehead, just because a news outlet reports something about you

that isn't flattering doesn't mean it's fake.

Donald Trump is specifically referring to the instance, the reports that came out from

NBC news that Tillerson called him a "moron" over the summer.

Tillerson then gave a press conference, did not directly refute that he called Trump a

"moron" and since his press conference more reports came out showing that "yes" people

there said he did call him a "moron" and in fact he called him a little bit worse than

that, but Donald Trump took that as whatever kind of vindication he needed.

Tillerson didn't call him a "moron", so anybody reporting on it is in fact fake news and maybe

even a "moron" themselves.

But that's not how it works.

Tillerson did not deny calling Donald Trump a "moron", which Trump said he did, but he

didn't and two, the media's going keep reporting what they want to report unless you sue them

for liable.

Did you think about that?

If it actually were fake news, if they were completely making things up, just fabricating

it out of nowhere to defame you, you can absolutely sue for liable, but you're not doing that

and you're the king of frivolous lawsuits, so if you honestly thought that it wasn't

real news you would have already had your lawyers working on this case.

What you are doing and this is something everybody needs to understand, Donald Trump's constant

attacks on the media are an effort to downplay the actual investigations going on into his

administration and his many failures that he's had since becoming president.

If people think the news media's fake when they come out and report how horrible Donald

Trump is or what's happening in the investigation, they won't think it's real, but again, it's

not working anymore.

The majority of the public has a higher trust in the media than they do in Donald Trump.

The majority of American voters do not trust Donald Trump.

They do not want to see him run for president again and they do not trust him to handle

any kind of crisis here in the United States.

Donald Trump is losing his battle against the media and right now that is the only weapon

he has to energize his base and as we've seen from polls, as we've seen from public opinion,

it's starting to backfire on him tremendously.

Rex Tillerson Called Trump a Moron: A Closer Look - Duration: 10:36.

-As he continues to deal with the aftermath

of his disastrous response to the humanitarian crisis

in Puerto Rico, President Trump is now also

dealing with an internal crisis --

a simmering feud with the Secretary of State.

For more on this, it's time for "A Closer Look."

[ Cheers and applause ]

After his tour of Puerto Rico, where he chided Puerto Ricans

for throwing the budget out of whack

and tossed paper towels into the crowd

like he was at the free-throw line,

Trump did what he always does -- bragged about his performance

and made up a bizarre and completely unnecessary lie

about how unprecedented his trip was.

He told reporters on Air Force One...

[ Laughter ]

You think this is the first time a sitting President

has visited hurricane victims?

This isn't even the first time you've done it!

[ Laughter ]

You were just in Texas and Florida a few weeks ago.

Remember? Oh, no! You don't remember, do you?

[ Laughter ]

This is turning into "50 First Dates,"

but for hurricanes.

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

In a way, though...

In a way, though, Trump is right.

This is the first time a sitting President

has embarrassed himself this much

while trying to comfort the victims of a natural disaster.

For example, after he threw supplies at hurricane victims,

the crowd literally had to tell him to stop.

According to the "Washington Post"...

[ Laughter ]

My God.

Our President had to be told not to throw cans of chicken...

[ Laughter ] ...at hurricane victims.

I wouldn't be surprised if he only built Trump Tower

so he could drop pennies off the roof.

[ Laughter ]

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Of all...

[ Cheers and applause ]

Of all Trump's missteps in Puerto Rico, there's one that is

perhaps the most embarrassing and also the most revealing.

At the church where supplies were being handed out,

he encountered a church member

giving out water purification tablets.

Basically, these tablets turn dirty water

into clean drinking water, and not only could Trump

not believe it worked, he couldn't believe

they were giving it away for free.

Here's how that exchange went, according to the "Post"...

Trump genuinely cannot contemplate doing something

out of the goodness of your heart.

He just assumes it must be a scam.

[ Imitating Trump ] So you give them the dirty water,

but you say it's clean?

[ Normal voice ] No, it's clean.

[ Imitating Trump ] Oh, so you clean the water,

but then you sell it for double the price?

[ Normal voice ] No, we give it away for free.

[ Imitating Trump ] Oh, I get it. So while they're

drinking the water, you go around

and steal all their wallets? [ Laughter ]

[ Normal voice ] But this -- this is yet another reminder

to the evangelicals who support Trump.

He doesn't understand church. [ Laughter ]

[ Imitating Trump ] What's Jesus' cut, 20%?

That's very good. That's a lot of cans of chicken.

[ Laughter ]

[ Normal voice ] But after embarrassing himself,

insulting the people of Puerto Rico,

and repeatedly bringing up the financial cost

of the recovery, Trump out of nowhere

seemed to throw Puerto Rico a potential lifeline.

Right now the government of Puerto Rico is dealing

with an economic crisis and billions of dollars in debt

bought up by hedge funds and other Wall Street firms

who have blocked any attempt to allow Puerto Rico

to restructure its debt or declare bankruptcy.

But as Trump was leaving the island on Tuesday,

he seemed to suggest he might support

forgiving Puerto Rico's debt completely.

-We're going to work something out.

We have to look at their whole debt structure.

You know, they owe a lot of money

to your friends on Wall Street, and we're going to have to

wipe that out. That's gonna have to be, uh,

you know, you can say goodbye to that.

I don't know if it's Goldman Sachs,

but whoever it is, you can wave goodbye to that.

-Well, that would be easy. I've been waving goodbye

to things since you became President.

Bye, Constitution! Bye, good night's sleep!

Bye, half the people I know on Facebook!

[ Cheers and applause ]

But forgiving Puerto Rico's debt

would be a truly transformative step.

It would go a long way to alleviating the suffering

of Puerto Ricans and make up for many of Trump's missteps

in handling the crisis, so naturally,

his budget director, Mick Mulvaney,

went on TV the next morning to tell people,

"Don't listen to the President."

-The President seemed to suggest that he is open

to wiping out the Puerto Rican debt.

Is that to be taken seriously on its face?

-I wouldn't take it word for word with that --

-Agreed. No one should ever take Trump word for word.

It's far more fun to take his words

and then put them in an order that you find interesting.

-I have Wall Street friends. I have a lot of money.

I have butt hole. I have butt hole. I have butt hole.

Goodbye.

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ] -Very proud of that.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Of course, the President isn't content to botch

just one crisis, which is why he's in the process

of botching another -- North Korea's nuclear program.

The international community has been desperately pursuing

every diplomatic angle to avoid what would certainly be

a catastrophic war, and Trump's own government

has been working with the U.N. Security Council,

China, and even through back channels

of North Korea itself to resolve the conflict peacefully.

So once again, Trump threw all that out the window

when he tweeted out of nowhere over the weekend...

So all the careful diplomacy and bargaining and angling

just goes out the window with one tweet.

It's like everyone is playing an intense game of Jenga,

and Trump is the rambunctious golden retriever

barging through the doggy door. [ Laughter ]

Also, I wouldn't be too concerned

that Rex Tillerson is expending a lot of energy.

He looks like the guy sitting in a rocking chair

outside the corner store who says...

[ Elderly Southern voice ] Storm's a-comin'. I can feel it

in my knees. [ Laughter ]

[ Applause ]

[ Normal voice ] So Trump has once again undercut

the diplomatic efforts of the Secretary of State,

which has happened so many times,

that Tillerson apparently threatened to resign

over the summer,

according to a report yesterday from NBC News.

But the fact that Tillerson threatened to resign

is not the most damning part of the story.

That, of course, had to do

with what Tillerson called Trump behind his back.

-At a meeting at the Pentagon

with the President's National Security team,

there were cabinet officials, White House officials.

The President attended. He left.

The group was gathering. There were a number of people around,

and the Secretary called the President a moron.

Wow. And Tillerson has that great Texas accent,

so you know he really stretched it out.

[ Southern accent ] That guy is a more-ron.

[ Laughter ]

[ Normal voice ] Now, obviously, this story was based

on anonymous sources, and the State Department denied it,

which is why MSNBC did their own reporting

on exactly what Tillerson said

and issued an important clarification later that day.

-My source didn't just say that he called him a moron.

He said "an effing moron."

[ Laughter ]

-This story keeps getting better and better.

Seriously, I can't wait for the next update.

Oh, here it is right here. "Sources have further clarified

"that Tillerson called Trump a 'straight up nose-pickin'

"'mouth-breathin', missed-a-belt-loop...

[bleep] more-on.'"

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Tillerson, of course, was forced to issue a statement

at a hastily arranged press conference yesterday,

where he took the extraordinary step of trying to assure

the American people that the President is not,

in fact, a moron.

-Let me tell you what I've learned about this President,

whom I did not know before taking this office.

He loves his country.

He puts Americans and America first.

He's smart...

-Man, to think a guy's a moron and then be forced

to publicly say he's smart.

We're in a truly extraordinary situation where the President

is fighting with his own Secretary of State,

as he faces multiple foreign policy challenges.

In fact, cabinet officials are apparently now so concerned

about the President's volatility that several of them have forged

an agreement to quit if Trump tries to fire one of them...

Jesus, so three cabinet officials have to ban together

to deal with their out-of-control boss.

They're treating him like he's Dabney Coleman in "9 to 5."

[ Laughter ]

And before you say that was a dated reference,

they were all at the Emmys! [ Laughter ]

So this is the situation we're in.

Cabinet officials are forming suicide pacts

to protect each other from the President.

The President is volatile, unstable, incompetent.

In other words... -A moron.

-No, that's not it. -An effing moron.

-Yeah, that's it. This has been "A Closer Look."

Racist NFL Players Slapped With NASTY Surprise After What Trump Just ENDED For ALL Of Them - Duration: 4:56.

Instead of the protesting trend within the National Football League tapering off after

an onslaught of devastation to the industry, the sickening sideline antics seem to only

be getting worse.

The players are having a power struggle with patriotic Americans who want them to start

reflecting our flag as well as furious advertisers and sponsors who expect them to respect their

investment and not destroy profits.

Entitlement and disrespect have reached a tipping point and now President Trump is taking

action.

In a time that the country should be coming together despite our differences, racist players

seem to want to keep the divisiveness going and the attention on them.

They've changed the protests from bringing awareness to a social justice issue to intentionally

trying to stick it to our president at every game after he called them out on their disrespect.

Kneeling for the National Anthem was bad enough.

However, the players just proved that the protests were never about equality and all

about Black Power.

This was proven in raising the racist salute of a clenched fist after intentionally tackling

white players who stand for the anthem.

Trump asked them to stand and told the NFL they should fire them if they don't, which

they didn't like.

Now, he's turning the disrespect back on them by taking an honor away and giving it

to those who deserve it.

After the Las Vegas massacre on Sunday, the country saw what real heroism looked like

and it wasn't someone taking a knee.

Police officers, first responders, and even innocent bystanders ran into the war zone

to save strangers, some even used their bodies as human shields to protect people they've

never met from a barrage of gunfire.

They took a bullet for their fellow man, not a knee.

It was regular people and real Americans who risked their lives this past weekend, not

overpaid athletes who only think they are heroes but are actually cowards to a cause.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited some of the more than 500 wounded

victims in Las Vegas yesterday.

When the couple entered the room to meet Thomas Gunderson, who had been shot in the leg, he

got out of bed to greet them with the respect he believes the leader of our nation deserves.

Melania sweetly told him he didn't need to stand on his injured leg for her, concerned

that he'd be risking discomfort by doing so.

He did so anyway since it was so important to him and shook Melania's hand and then

the president's.

"Hey, this guy looks tough to me," Trump said to Thomas who then replied, "thank

you so much, I appreciate it."

Thomas then proved just how much it meant to him and got an incredible surprise he wasn't

expecting.

The patriot with the injured leg and every reason not to raise up to greet the president

and his wife shared a special message on social media right after the opportunity he got to

shake their hands.

"I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand!

There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president,

and my flag.

Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!"

In the midst of all of the protests, it's incredible to see a real hero and real America

rise above the overpaid athletes in showing respect.

That doesn't mean that you have to politically agree with everything the president does but

can respect his position in our nation.

Since so many players don't, they also don't deserve the honor of a visit to the White

House.

Winning athletes get the opportunity to meet with the President of the United States in

the Oval Office, but use the refusal to go to make a political statement.

It's a disgusting dishonor to the Commander-in-Chief, which Trump realizes and has recently rescinded

that invitation to players, specifically, basketball star Stephen Curry of the Golden

State Warriors.

The president has now replaced that void in his meet-and-greet scheduled with people who

really deserve it, which are real Americans who respect our country, stand up for our

National Anthem and president, and are unsung heroes to their fellow man.

"At the hospital, he spontaneously invited some of the wounded to visit the White House

when they recover," the Washington Times reports.

"I said, 'If you are ever in Washington, come on over to the Oval Office.'

And they are all saying, 'I want to do it.

I want to do it,' " Mr. Trump told reporters.

"And believe me, I'll be there for them."

"He said that his message for the victims and the entire city of Las Vegas is that the

country is with them."

It's time for entitled athletes to learn a little something from the people who once

supported them – the ones who only jump on top of others in an effort to save a stranger's

life.

It's no surprise that the people who risk their lives protecting other people also show

incredible respect for our president, even when an exception is made for them not to.

It's the ones who show respect that get respect in return.

what do you think about this?

BREAKING NEWS TRUMP Today 10/5/17 , New Details on Las Vegas investigation - Duration: 18:14.

Let's act on new gun control measures there is no reason to make a

Semi-automatic assault weapon into a fully automatic

battlefield

We cannot be defined by the evil that threatens us or the violence that

incites

such terror

We're defined by our love

caring and our courage

It is

three o'clock in las vegas

And we start this hour from New York with a Fox News Alert the Las Vegas shooter may have been planning something even more sinister

than his bloody massacre police now want to know if he acted alone or

Had someone helping him plot the deadliest shooting in American and modern in

Modern American history and the theory is he did have help

Adam Housley is live still in Las Vegas with us with breaking details for us this morning Adam

Yeah a couple of big details that you guys alluded to first of all the sheriff here last night kind of alluded at that press

Conference in passing almost that there may have been some help for the killer, but a bigger I think

Headline than that is the fact that we talked with multiple investigators last night people that are very close to this case and they said

They still don't know there are so many unanswered questions, and this was the key for us

They've ruled nothing out basically

They've been unable to cross anything off the list because there's so little information at least the information that would help them identify

What made this man become a madman now that all comes as a report from the Las Vegas review-journal?

Says at least by their sources that somebody that they tart the man targeted pardon me

The fuel checks the jet fuel tanks 1,100 feet from his room

Directly across on the other side of the concert ground that happens to be only about 30 or 40 yards to my right

We saw them actually inspect those tanks on Monday now. We talked with our sources here

Who've been obviously very close to this case they don't believe that was the case?

We don't know who the reviewed journals

Source is those tanks were hit it was an 1,100 feet diffs distance so pretty far away

But they were telling us that the killer

Sprayed the area he did not target, which would make it a little more difficult for him to actually go out for those tanks

Whatever the case there were some obviously hits on those tanks

But there are also people that were fleeing near those tanks

Meantime assault comes as mayor Liu Dan Lee had a very long interview yesterday in Los Angeles. We were told that she was very cooperative

However that she didn't really have a lot of information to help with the case

They're still trying to find out more information about her companions background and her lawyer says

She will do anything she can to help figure out the answer stick listen

I am devastated by the deaths and injuries that have occurred it never occurred to me in any way whatsoever

That he was planning violence while there

He wired me money

Which he said was for me to buy a house for me and my family

It comes back to the whole thing guys

I think really can be narrowed down the fact that they have not been able to cross anything off the list

You know we're several days into this now with other attacks. We've seen in the last few years

They've been able to cross things off right away. This one is a being is a bit more tedious for them

They have gained some information, and I have been told that the one brother who was talking that still spoke to the killer

May have given a little bit different answers and that the two estranged brothers have been very helpful as well guys a couple of things

Adams that side that pop out number one

There was a theory the Las Vegas Journal review

That he popped out the second window in order to get a cleaner shot at the tanks is you turn around does that make sense?

Wow you know what?

Yes, no. I mean the same time Brian

We've showed the video from a viewer a couple of days ago on your show on Fox & Friends

From the one year prior of man who came for the same exact concert

And if you look at both those windows both see the tanks that row doesn't make a lot of sense

There's no there's no security whatsoever

All right Adam we thank you very much for joining us live and updating us on that

They did find two bullet holes in the tanks and what's interesting is and this was a detail in the New York Times this morning

That I didn't realize this guy was a licensed pilot, so not only did he work for the IRS. He worked in insurance

He worked for the post office, but he could fly planes

The other thing about it is Jeff

You know if he did indeed target and as Adam said he just kind of sprayed it strafed it

That does not necessarily light up a jet fuel tank there are mechanisms inside the tank

One expert out in Vegas said you have to be a very

Amateur terrorist to think anything like that like it can shoot it and blow it up

You know like in the movies listen to this story. There was a guy named Albert gars on who told police

He was staying in the room

The 31st floor room 135 and he said that he got a call from security

Kind of not gonna store twice the first time was at 1:30 in the morning and he said sir

You need to turn down your music your country music

He said who complained and the security guard pointed up the guy above you?

So then he comes back before night before he turns down his music the security guard comes back again and says sir the man's still

complaining of turning music off

turned his music off you realized the next day when he saw the guy above he looked out of his window and he saw the

Drapes flapping in the wind that was the guy above him, right?

And what was the concert it was country music concert a couple of things stand out

Number one is they had a dry run that daily be story or one of the people that had the service a daily beast of

a dry run for the week before

He did it that was confirmed yesterday in the press conference number two

There was a real sense among the sheriff that he had help unless he was a super man to act alone

So he does not know who that help came from but they were examining his backpack super Yahoo

Right and then this guy hay-zu's Campos. Who is the?

Security guard who had the courage and foresight to walk right to the door take a bullet in the leg through the door and then

not leave the hallway and when the minute he got there through the cameras they took a shot, but that's when they got the

Steven paddock stopped shooting tried to escape some have come up through an escape plan

Didn't escape obviously and then killed himself so therefore it was a nine minute barrage as opposed to a maybe a three or nine

That security guard. You know what he continued to do you continue to go door to door to let people out of their rooms?

Right and there you've got one of the images from outside. It is extraordinary though the sheriff said yesterday

He did have an escape plan, but he did not the sheriff offer up any details

But was curious is you know we saw those images of?

inside the room and there was a note and

Yesterday the sheriff said we found a note, but it was not a suicide

It's interesting that they're saying that they believe he had a plan to escape

Considering he had he knew they were gonna come to his room because they were gonna hear that the ammo the bullets firing off

But he had any out all those cameras set up in the hallway to see when police officer. He also blocked the stairway, right?

You had to take an elevator to get to him the sheriff did suggest

That the escape plan had something to do with the explosives in his car anyway

meanwhile the president united states flew in on Air Force one to McCarran yesterday and

He gave one of the best speeches of his presidency so far look

we're looking to our leader to unite us in times of peril and

Heartache and this certainly was one of them, and here is here is President Trump

The mass murder that took place on Sunday night fills America's heart with grief

America is truly a nation in

Mourning we struggle for the words to explain to our children how such evil can exist

How there can be such cruelty and such?

suffering

But we cannot be defined by the evil that threatens us or the violence that incites

Such terror words cannot describe

The bravery that the whole world witnessed on Sunday night

Americans defied death and

Hatred with love and with courage we will all have to wrestle with the horror of what has

unfolded this week

But we will struggle through it together, and we will overcome together as Americans

And they did some of his finest work going door to door spending 90 minutes in area hospitals and talking to others who saved

people and others

Survivors who lost people during that I know yeah, and invited them many of them to the White House

He spent 90 minutes at bedsides at the University Medical Center

He also met with a hundred medical professionals a young high school student 18 years old Tiffany Heiser

was one of the survivors and

Afterwards she was asked about the visit to her hospital room of the president United States and the first lady

And this is what she had to say about the president

Did he offer you words of comfort did he say anything that stands out to you?

He said he was amazing. Where was that yeah. He was like super nice. He wasn't who we seen on social media. He was

Much more comforting hmm What did he say that was so comforting? I?

Don't know like he's turning voice and just the way she was

The way he was not the guy that he appears to be on social media

Anyone who knows the president has chance to meet him and the reason why I got elected president

It's because he connects with people one of which he absolutely connected with was Thomas Gunderson

Thomas Gunderson was shot

But he was not going to be kept in bed when he found out the president knighted States was coming to see him

This is his cell phone video that he relayed he'll be joining us a little bit later today

But I thought his Facebook post was so telling and insightful in mind

This is a guy who was shot in the leg

And you know that you know I'm gonna stand up for the president and these were exactly what he said right?

The Facebook post said I will never lie down when the president of this great country comes to shake my hand

There may be plenty of issues in this country

But I will always respect my country my president and my flag shot in the leg or not

I will stand to show my president the respect he deserves

He will be joining us here on Fox and Friends in the eight o'clock hour

8:45 Eastern Time after he did post that on and there's his image right there after he did post it on Facebook

apparently he got a lot of

some of the haters got in there and he

Had an adjoint er rejoinder to it and just said look. It's president United States

He comes in I'm going to respect it. Not only that he posted on his Facebook page. I'm posting this

This is what how I feel and there's gonna be backlash

I'm asking people on my Facebook page that like me don't go don't get involved in the backlash don't take it personal

Ignore it because there are people out there that whatever the president does or however you associate with the president

You're gonna get backlash if you say anything positive about him well and there he is standing for the first lady

He does say that he was able to stand yesterday and be alive to this day

because of two female police officers who saved his life on

Sunday night my favorite line from the president when the worst of humanity strikes the best of humanity

Responds there you go right president system of being out there Wednesday the day before is in Puerto Rico

The series of events that's happened if you factor in the national disaster the Hurricanes in Texas and as well as Florida

I don't remember any president having to deal with this much this soon this diverse yeah, and of course. He was asked by the

Correspondents who were there what about gun control, and he said today, it's not the day to talk about that

But we will be talking about that in our town

Hall which is going to be taking place each hour?

every hour and will debate because it's already on Capitol on both sides then moving on that device that it takes a

Semi-automatic and makes it automatically see where that goes Republicans are now

Alright 13 minutes at the top of the hour coming up should there be more

Surveillance on people who buy guns a Town Hall as Brian was saying live in our studio straight ahead

Plus some Democrats at least and now at least one Republican in Congress are pushing for new regulations regarding guns like that

but the only

Manufacturer on the hill says we are looking at mass shootings all wrong

army vet an officer Steve Russell turned congressman joins us next

There is no better way to honor the 59 people who are slaughtered than to tack action take action

To prevent this from happening yet again

It's not

When will we ever do it well Democrats pushing for new gun control laws right after the Vegas attack now one Republican congressman Carlos

Corbello from Florida is drafting legislation that would ban this bump stock

And that's the device that allows

Semi-automatics to become automatics to put it simply here

Discusses is the only firearms?

Manufacturer in Congress a true expert on the matter and the man who's a unit played a key role in taking down Saddam Hussein?

he is Oklahoma Congressman Steve Russell congressman

Are you okay with this movement on these devices to ban them make him illegal?

We can talk about going after implements and tools, but really we're approaching it all wrong

After 9/11 we were shocked and we said who are these?

Terrorists who are these people how can they hurt us how can we protect the public against them?

And we've been largely successful for 16 years in that even though they've been in our country

They have access to our freedoms our firearms our free-flowing information on how to make things

That could harm the public and yet we've been successful

Why because we've identified the threat and we've engaged the public we're not doing that with these mass murderers

We're not identifying the threat

Here we have an individual who hold hundreds of pounds of equipment in right who set up cameras who went through

Elaborate detail, but he was not viewed as a threat and so

To get to a solution you can't just go after the tools Norway had massive gun laws you had

70 children murdered on an island so you're saying okay, let's just look car

So let's just look at a couple of things people said after Adam Lanza and say we had a look at mental health

Then we said we got a look at background checks we were

Green, you know red flags would have been lit up this guy had no mental health issues

And this guy's background checks were done, and he passed every single time

People looked at this the it's legal

I guess in most cases to have an automatic weapon so they want to focus on that

What would you focus on right now, or are you saying?

We should get a bipartisan select committee together with a timeline and a budget to analyze well

What are the things that?

I'm promoting is to form a task force you have experts

Where we could work on the issue with people that are actually qualified that know the laws

That know the issues I have combat experience on the firearms manufacturer. I know 18th u.s.

Code all of these things and we have others that

we can quietly work together rather than be polarized go to our corners and shout at each other and look as far as

Devices that mechanically manipulate to go to full auto and some of that we have to have all of those discussions

But going after the implements is not the solution. Yeah, we've been successful in combating terror

we can be successful against combating mass murder and to that point the

1934 Firearms Control Act 68 and 86 revisions did not ban full lot of firearms

But they did regulate them to protect the public from mass killings and those laws have been

Wildly successful with virtually no crimes committed with those firearms well see if there's something for 2017 or not

But it shouldn't be emotional. It should be analytical which has to be deliberate absolutely Congressman Steve Russell

Thanks so much for your expertise you were and you are indeed an expert. I mean while the gunman's girlfriend claiming

She had no idea of the carnage the shooter was planning, but is her denial a good defense do you buy it Judge Andrew?

Napolitano is looking at that investigation straight ahead, and we've seen body cam video. What about the law enforcement identifying the threat in Vegas?

We are back on this Thursday morning with some quick headlines starting with the Fox News Alert

Three American Green Beret dead and two more seriously hurt following an ambush

at

In the African country of Niger it's still not clear if all soldiers are accounted for the Americans advising and assisting

Nigerian forces when they came under attack by an unidentified

Terror group this marks the first u.s.

combat deaths since our military arrived in Niger to help fight al-qaeda and

17 people under arrest busted in a massive drug raid that used

Commercial airlines to shuttle cocaine and heroin across the country

prosecutors here in New York say the group hit large amounts of drugs inside suitcases flying them from Phoenix to New York City

three family members are accused of running the scheme and

Finally America's toughest sheriff is in the clear a federal judge

dismissing Joe Arpaio is criminal case and formally accepting president Trump's pardon in July the

former Maricopa County sheriff was found guilty of defying a court order to end the profiling of immigrants during traffic stops in the state of

Arizona and that is some of the news alright. There's some

There's some of the brave trained some of the brave trained to run towards the sound of gunfire

So how exactly does a SWAT team stop a threat like the one we saw in Las Vegas?

We saw those images, and we want to know Pete heggs has spent the day with Suffolk County police a man

Emergency services to find out and he joins us live yeah, it was it was a fascinating day

They were there were great people out in Suffolk County emergency services the SWAT team specifically they trained on this stuff every day

They're the guys the police call when they need

Backup in this Suffolk County Police Department SWAT team also known as emergency services as I said tree

Mustapha Toomey's Thank You Both for Joining Us

so

Schaffer I'll start With you and we'll Just Begin With that Question Is the Left Taking this too far at this Point

Absolutely Look you the Technology

We're Talking about Is ambivalent to the user in This case in Particular heather this Guy

Was Completely Committed to this Heinous Act and Any law Any

New law Any New Restriction wouldn't have done A darn thing to stop him he was Completely

Meticulous

Former Work for the irs

Knew how to do Research

He Could Have Probably Figured out how to Modify an Ar-15 Or an

AK-47 on his Own with A kit had he not had the bump Stock Available so I think

We have to take A step back and Step away from the Technology and Look at the root Causes and I believe There's Things

We have to look at Regarding the fact that, We have gun Violence?

Any Violence Violence is the Root Issue We should be Looking at?

I do want to get to that in Just a moment the bump Starts but before, We get to that Mustapha?

I want to ask you the same Question a lot is being Discussed right Now in Terms of

Surveillance more Surveillance Needs to be done do you think that's the answer

No Look I think, We have to do is Common sense, We all respect the?

Constitution We hold it up high so We Respect the first Amendment but you Can't Walk Into the?

Movie Theater and Yell fire and We will Protect the Second but We have to have you know some?

Common-Sense Gun-Safety Loss Because you can't Walk Into Movies who to start Straying People so we've got to start Thinking about this for a Common-Sense

Standpoint and Not Just Get, Into This ideological all gun Safety laws are Bad and then

We should Have?

Unrestricted Federal Acts S to These Weapons that creates so much Harm in our Society so then what is the answer to that?

Colonel What Would it Common-Sense gun Safety law There's no such Thing Look I can be Armed in Virginia I can't be Armed Here

Let me Finish my

Honor The Common sense you all put in Place on the Left

Results in Chicago and innocent People being Unarmed and Killed

Constantly What I'm Talking About here is the fact that the gun laws in Place Right Now Which are Supposed to protect People have not

They've Gone The other Way so Anytime

We see gun laws Common-Sense gun laws put in Place?

People Like Me who Should be able to carry as a former Member of the Military

Fully Qualified Can Carry in Virginia Can't Carry in Places Where you have criminals you all create gun-free Zones Which only criminals

Then Are able to be Armed so what I'm Saying Is when you create laws you actually only Affect

LaW-Abiding Citizens As criminals By Definition are not Affected Because They are criminals

And that's A good Point that must answer that answer Those Points that the colonel Just Made and then

Also if You Could answer for me what law

do you think Would Have kept Precisely from Happening Precisely but Look

We in Airports We since 9/11 We know terrorists were using?

Airplanes as bombs so we've Started to Use much better Airport Safety right and it's Inconvenience to all of Us but

We and that Makes us safer Look, I am answering the Question I'll let you Finish you got let

Me Finish right so Please and so we've Created laws that Allow us to create some Sign of Safety Measure so

Having Enough Having some type of a Background Check

You know you Keep Talking and you asked me to be Respectful I think you've got to give me the Same

Would you know from happy Exactly and I'm trying to I'm trying to but you?

Look I think I think that We have to do much better Background Checks I think?

We have to get Rid of the Loophole Where you are able to buy Guns?

that was stop with a background Check we've got, we've Got it's got Cash, Background Check this Guy has This Guy

Respect You but You're not

Here what you said you said a background Check Would Have Possibly stop this from Happening and Then in These verses this person's

Background he Only Had a traffic ticket that We know About at this point so I'm not sure That went out

But Somebody but Having A waiting period he's Been Accumulating this Kind of Arsenal who accumulates over 40 Guns

High-Power Guns That are able to turn it Into Sprays

We ran out of Time but We?

Did want to talk about that the bump stocks and I think A lot of People on an Agreement that that Needs to be looked

At at This Point Thank you

Appreciate it

Rob

okay, all right 19 Minutes after the hour we've Seen the body Cam Video but how do officials stop a threat like the

One in Las Vegas I

Think This Round Right here Would end it for me These are Guys that they know, we're Named and They hit Where They, aim I

Mean how do you stop Somebody with a gun, like that Pete Hagseth Gets Shot Finding out Firsthand Exactly

What A swat team faces we're Gonna Have that Coming up next

Well the Attack in Las Vegas highlighting the Heroics of The brave Few Who Ran Towards danger Risking Their lives to save Others

So how Exactly Does a swat Team stop a threat like The one in Las Vegas and that

Kind of Weaponry Fox & Friends Weekend Goes Pete Heck Seth

Spent the day With an Elite Unit in Suffolk County New York and he Joins us now and I can't even Imagine

What These Guys?

Had to go Through on Sunday night in Las Vegas

Absolutely You Talk to These you think about what they went Through and Gathering the Information Where Is this Threat Coming from how do we?

Then go There and Neutralize it and do it as fast as possible With an Elite Unit of swat Members but you

Security Guards

Were the first ones on the Scene so we wanted to talk to Guys in Suffolk County on Long Island They're Part of the Emergency?

Services Unit They're The Swat Team and Get A sense of what do you train for These things how, did you how

do you Feel like They Responded in Las Vegas how Prepared were They Really this Is what it looked like to train with Them and

What they Had to Say?

Give Us a sense

Into The Tactics that You use how you train for an active Shooter Scenario We need to get in as Quickly as Possible and Effect

Effectively Terminate The Threat We'll Stop the Shooting so the way We train You Office is now Patrol IS - if You're The First Person?

on the Scene You have to Make that personal Choice to Make Entry Into that Structure

We're all Watching from afar what happened in Las Vegas

Just from what You've Seen your Reaction to you know Those men That were Clearing Those Floors and what they

Were Facing from a law enforcement Standpoint you know to locate a sniper Shooter Type from 1,200 Yards away it's Quite difficult

You know it's Gonna have to

Effectively Rely on someone Calls to try and Localize Where Those Shots are Coming from if you

Were Standing in The Crowd Would be Quite difficult

But the Response to the Hotel and The actual Room Where the Shooting Came from from what I understand is Handled beautifully

Second is a casualty so that's why, it's imperative that the officers at the Scene

They Have to get There as Quickly as Possible and Neutralize the Threat

What Kind of Gear I might be Wearing Today all right?

We're Gonna put on you A

Ballistic vest This Is what we've Operated and then Obviously what we trained and We always Train the Way that?

We want to Operate yeah so Guys No Train as you fight Exactly Because weight does Make a Difference?

How Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. Were Saved From Indictment - Duration: 4:41.

"SoHo, here it is!"

When Donald Trump announced the Trump SoHo in 2006, he called it "brilliant," "awe-inspiring,"

and a "masterpiece."

"Welcome to the Trump SoHo..."

But then things got messy.

And in 2012, Trump's two eldest children, Donald Jr. and Ivanka, faced possible criminal

indictment over their marketing of the building.

This is the story of how that case disappeared.

"I'd rather let the product speak for itself and let you see that what we've been

saying for all of these years actually is true."

Donald Jr. and Ivanka formed a Limited Liability Company called Donka SoHo Member.

And they both signed the licensing deal on Trump SoHo alongside their father,

who is now our president.

The building's condos went on the market in September 2007, right before the global economy

began to implode.

"Stocks all around the world are tanking."

"The stock market is now down 21 percent."

"Many Americans have felt anxiety about their finances and their future…"

In public, the Trumps and their brokers were bullish.

Donald Trump boasted there was a waitlist of 3,200 for just 400 units.

First, the building was 31 percent sold.

Then, 53 percent.

In June 2008, Ivanka told journalists the building was 60 percent sold.

But none of this was true.

In fact, according to a sworn affidavit by a Trump partner in March of 2010, the building

was only 15.8 percent sold.

In August 2010, the patience of some condo buyers ran out.

More than a dozen of them sued the Trumps and their business partners for deceptive marketing.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance began to investigate.

"Welcome to the Manhattan District Attorney's office, I'm Cy Vance."

They were looking at possible fraud and larceny charges.

By overstating the number of units sold, they believed, the Trumps were falsely inflating the value

of the apartments.

According to sources familiar with the case, investigators discovered emails between the

two younger Trumps discussing how to coordinate what false information to give potential condo

buyers about how many condos had been sold.

In one email, Donald Jr. assured a concerned broker that no one would ever find out about

the false statements.

Prosecutors believed those emails demonstrated Ivanka and Donald Jr. intentionally deceived

the buyers.

The Trump defense team argued that it was just "puffery."

With the evidence he had, Vance—the DA— needed to decide whether he would charge Donald Jr.

and Ivanka Trump with crimes.

But then, enter Marc Kasowitz.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Marc Kasowitz, President Trump's personal lawyer."

He defended Trump University.

He threatened to sue the New York Times when it published a story about Trump groping women.

He also represented Bill O'Reilly, when Fox News ousted him over accusations

of sexual harassment.

Yeah, that Marc Kasowitz.

In January of 2012 Kasowitz made a $25,000 contribution to Vance's reelection campaign.

It was his first donation to Vance, and he instantly became one of Vance's top donors.

A few months later, in early May 2012, Kasowitz requested a meeting with Vance.

Following his own policy, Vance returned Kasowitz's campaign contribution.

On May 16, Kasowitz meets with Vance.

Then, in August 2012, the case against Donald Jr. and Ivanka was closed.

Vance had overruled his prosecutors.

Vance says he made the call on the merits and that Kasowitz's donation did not affect

his decision.

For his part, Kasowitz denies that his contribution was meant to influence Vance.

One month after the case was dropped, Kasowitz contacted Vance's campaign about hosting

a fundraiser for the DA's re-election.

Over the next year, Kasowitz personally gave Vance $31,993 and held two fundraisers for him.

Because the Trump case had been closed nearly six months earlier, Vance's campaign accepted

these contributions.

Now, Vance said he will return Kasowitz's second donation.

According to people who heard him, Kasowitz later boasted to colleagues about his role

in getting the Trump case dropped.

Though Kasowitz denies this.

To date, only 128 of the 391 units in Trump SoHo have been sold.

That's about 33 percent, if you're counting.
