US B-52 nuclear bombers 'on 24-hour ALERT' as North Korea vows to annihilate Trump
THE US Air Force has ordered its nuclear bombers to be on 24-hour alert status as tensions
with North Korea reach an all-time high.
Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un have put the globe on the edge of World War 3 after numerous
nuclear missile threats.
Trump warned the Hermit Kingdom's hierarchy that it faced destruction if it did not abandon
its nuclear weapons programme.
But the tubby tyrant has vowed to continue developing missiles, until one has the range
to hit New York.
In response, Trump has placed his B-52 bomber planes on 24-hour alert status, a move not
seen since the Cold War ended in 1991.
Air Force chief of staff General David Goldfein said: "This is yet one more step in ensuring
that we're prepared.
"I look at it more as not planning for any specific event, but more for the reality of
the global situation we find ourselves in and how we ensure we're prepared going forward."
"We've got other players out there who have nuclear capability.
It's never been more important to make sure that we get this mission right."
The B-52s were placed on alert for decades when the United States was faced with the
dangers of the Soviet Union.
The measure comes after two nuclear B1-B bombers were flown over South Korea, to send a message
to the despot nation.
