Trump news on Youtube Dec 11 2018

Academy Award winner Meryl Streep sat down with Stephen Colbert earlier this month

for his annual onstage conversation to raise money for Montclair Film, where they

discussed, among other things, President Donald Trump.

After Streep criticized Trump during her Cecil B. DeMille acceptance speech at the

2017 Golden Globes for seemingly mocking a disabled reporter, Trump retorted via

Twitter that he thought Streep was "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood."

When asked by Colbert how she felt about having a president who is

"indifferent to empathy," Streep replied with a sobering answer.

The conversation also had plenty of moments of levity - as the award winning actress

teased her role in the upcoming 'Mary Poppins Returns' and shared some of her favorite

recent movie releases such as 'A Star Is Born.' Streep, enthused that "nobody but Lady

Gaga" could've played Ally in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut and also raved about the

actor's approach to helming a feature film.

Streep also took the opportunity to plug her own work, recommending that the audience

goes to see the upcoming 'Mary Poppins Returns,' in which she plays Poppins' "cousin."

Meadows would give Trump a skilled brawler in the White House - Duration: 7:29.

as freedom caucus chairman mark Meadows wrote a secret memo last month to both

how House Republicans could counter Democratic plans to investigate and

potentially impeach Donald Trump now the president is eyeing the North Carolina

Republican one of his closest allies on Capitol Hill to replace outgoing chief

of staff John Kelly in part because of that insight serving as chief of staff

would be an incredible honor Meadows told political playbook the

president has a long list of qualified candidates and I know he'll make the

best selection for his administration and for the country should Trump tap

medals for the job he'd be securing an astute political operative who's made at

his mission to defend Trump from embarrassing headlines medals and his

best friend rap Jim Jordan a Fox News TV star and hero on the right have almost

single-handedly pushed Republican chairman and GOP leaders to start

counter investigations of the FBI's handling of the Russia investigation a

key talking point for Trump who spent the probe as a witch-hunt the duo is

often on TV assailing Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and

touting Trump's legislative achievements and with Mueller closing in on Trump and

newly empowered Democrats eager to highlight scandal out of the West Wing

Meadows knowledge of Congress and willingness to fight for him has

appealed to Trump White House insiders say he'd have a keen sense of what to do

what groups to engage with what defense to hold going into a hyper political

time said one White House official who asked not to be named he also knows

oversight better than most going into a Democratic House takeover he would no

tools Republicans have at their disposal to push back on Democrats better than

anyone some top Trump allies are publicly urging the President to pick

meadows Meadows understands the oversight process the media and how to

pick fights we can win said rap made Geats who said he's doing all I can to

encourage the president to pick him I lobbied the president the best way I

know how I made the meadows case on Fox News

Meadows ascent to the position is far from a done deal while he and Trump

speak frequently if not daily by phone the president is also

considering several others for the job while sources close with Meadows believe

he's open to the job and would serve a fast they also noted the political risks

involved while the position of chief of staff was once revered it could amount

to political suicide under Trump meadow would have to relinquish his influential

position in the GOP conference not to mention his seat in Congress for a job

that would likely be his last in politics with allegations of collusion

corruption and campaign finance violations haunting the president the

job might quickly turn dirty a challenging feat for a man who at times

seems to be sensitive to his reputation still the opportunity might be once in a

lifetime and comes as Meadows influence in the house is set to wane with

Republicans losing control of the chamber the freedom caucus relevancy

will be diminished what's more medals that initially hoped to lead the House

Oversight Committee GOP as Trump's top defender against Democratic

investigations which was why he recently wrote the memo on countering democratic

investigations he stepped aside at the last minute

however so Jordan could become ranking member of the panel Meadows could also

face opposition from Republicans across Washington that undercut his

effectiveness as White House chief as the freedom caucus leader he's made many

enemies both inside the Capitol and out and has a long difficult relationship

with the GOP establishment Meadows first made a name for himself when he filed a

motion to vacate our next speaker john boehner a procedural maneuver meant to

boot the Ohio Republican from power boehner resigned not long after since

then Meadows has been a pain in the side of GOP leaders circumventing speaker

Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy to get what he wants on policy

matters during the Obamacare repeal effort and the house for example

Meadows leveraged the freedom caucus numbers to make policy changes favor to

conservatives including targeting pre-existing conditions protections that

would later haunt the majority on the campaign trail

medals did the same thing for tax reform appealing to Trump directly to land wins

for the right White House officials described Meadows

as a man on a mission trying to charm the president from the outset of the

administration metals energetic defenses of Trump on television earned him

several invitations to the Oval Office for signing ceremonies where Trump

advisers noticed he would linger to regale the president with compliments

among other things meadows has been overheard telling Trump well historic

leaner he is how extraordinary and unprecedented that rump administration

is and how awful the media can be though he gabs with reporters frequently and

often in the hallways of the hill he's complained to him about the Mueller

investigation as well ingratiating himself further with the president

despite his reputation as a hardliner however Meadows is out time sensitive to

being seen as a partisan in person he's a people pleaser often torn between his

ideological inclinations and his desire to make a deal with his political

opposites in the house he has friendly relationships with Democrats including

and coming oversight chairman Elijah Cummings at least for now

he's trying to befriend moderate Republicans as well but handed up

burning bridges with some when he walked away from immigration negotiations with

them earlier this year in Russia matters medals has been on the front lines of

the Republican effort in the house to suggest that I Trump by a sustained to

the FBI's ongoing probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election

he's one of six Republicans on a small task force that has halt and Justice

Department and FBI officials to grilled him about their handling of the Russia

probe and GOP allegations that they downplayed the investigation of Hillary

Clinton's email server in favor of a focus on Trump Democrats have blasted

effort as a hyper partisan push to shield Trump as the investigations

become increasingly perilous to him his business and his family Meadows was

industry as recently as Friday when he pressed former FBI director James Comey

behind closed doors about the FBI's surveillance of a forum

Trump campaign associate whose Russia contacts were under scrutiny using a

so-called FISA warrant he also grilled Comey on interactions between the FBI's

general counsel and a law firm associated with the Democratic National

Committee medals has also forcefully agitated for the removal of Deputy

Attorney General rod Rosen Steinem pushed to hold him in

contempt of Congress for what he claimed was slow walking the production of

documents connected to the Russia probe he was one of the earliest voices in

Congress seeking Attorney General Jeff Sessions resignation for what he said

was a failure to police the Russia investigation and meadows has been a

vocal advocate for Trump to declassify reams of documents connected to the

Russia probe a move Trump seemed to embrace in September before backing down

after citing pushback from a foreign partner Depp

MUELLER WILL GO INTO HIDING BECAUSE OF TRUMP'S LATEST TWEET - Duration: 10:04.

MUELLER WILL GO INTO HIDING BECAUSE OF TRUMP'S LATEST TWEET

Twitter is likely the reason Donald Trump is President right now.

He used it to masterfully make his positions clear and destroy his enemies.

And his latest set of tweets are so damning that Mueller will likely go into hiding.

Robert Mueller is leading a biased witch hunt with the goal of taking down President Trump.

He is claiming that the President and his campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016

election.

This is an attractive theory to the anti-Trump resistance who wants more than anything to

stop the President.

If they can prove collusion occurred, they can claim Trump isn't a legitimate President.

This theory is easier to swallow than the truth, which is that Trump awakened a silent

majority who was tired of the status quo.

But Trump is fighting back against Mueller.

There are countless problems with his investigation, beginning long before the start date.

The most glaring issue is the number of conflicts of interest central to the investigation.

Robert Mueller is facing claims of conflict of interest for his ties to former FBI Director

James Comey.

The two are longtime friends and have known each other for years.

Trump points this out in a series of tweets, calling them "best friends."

"ROBERT MUELLER AND LEAKIN' LYIN' JAMES COMEY ARE BEST FRIENDS, JUST ONE OF MANY MUELLER

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST."

Trump questions whether this will be listed in his report.

The President also zeroes in on Andrew Weissmann, one of Mueller's top prosecutors, asking:

"WILL ANDREW WEISSMAN'S HORRIBLE AND VICIOUS PROSECUTORIAL PAST BE LISTED IN THE REPORT?"

Weissmann is infamous for his harsh tactics in the courtroom.

He is known for his work against mob bosses.

And some feel that the tactics he is using now harken back to the way he handled organized

crime bosses.

In fact, his harsh prosecution has backfired in the past, like when his case against Enron

was overturned for being too far-reaching.

Additionally, Weissmann has donated to former President Barack Obama and many Democrats.

Trump also mentions James Comey, who has been a central figure in the collusion narrative.

Comey is the reason the unverified Christopher Steele dossier on Russia collusion became

public.

His briefing with then-President-elect Trump was the justification media outlets used to

release the unverified dossier.

There was so little real information in it that it took Comey's meeting with Trump

to give it credibility for release.

President Trump also questions whether the many officials who were fired in the FBI will

have a place in the report.

"[WILL] BRUCE OHR (AND HIS LOVELY WIFE MOLLY), COMEY, BRENNAN, CLAPPER, & ALL OF THE MANY

FIRED PEOPLE OF THE FBI, BE LISTED IN THE REPORT?"

Trump questions whether anything about the DNC or Clinton campaign will be in the report

as well:

"WILL THE CORRUPTION WITHIN THE DNC & CLINTON CAMPAIGN BE EXPOSED?"

It is the Clinton campaign and DNC who are behind the Christopher Steele dossier that

was used to kickstart the investigation.

So there are a lot of problems with Mueller and his allies.

But the only person who seems to be facing tough questions is the President and his allies.

Do you think Mueller should have to answer for the problems and conflicts of interest

in his investigation?

Let us know your thoughts in the comment

section below.

Trump Is DIRECTLY Implicated In A Felony - Duration: 6:33.

On Friday, the special prosecutor's office, along with the US attorney for the southern

district of New York, made public some court filings that actually seem to directly implicate

Donald Trump in a federal crime.

Now, Donald Trump, after these filings, became public tweeted out the following instead totally

clears the president.

Thank you.

Now, based on what was in those filings, I think it's pretty obvious that individual

one here didn't actually read what was in there because yes, Mr. Trump, it did directly

implicate you in a felony offense.

Here's what happened.

There was a lot of stuff within those filings, a lot of it that said, oh, this person was

trying to reach out from Russia to Michael Cohen.

We know at this point that a lot of Russians reached out to the Trump campaign that has

been made public in these filings.

While we do not know Mueller might, I'm assuming Mueller does, is whether or not anybody in

the Trump campaign reached back and accepted their offers for help.

So that's still a big question mark.

But what's no longer a big question mark is whether or not Donald Trump specifically ordered

Michael Cohen to make the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

According to these new court filings, according to Michael Cohen's own testimony, he made

those payments at the direction of individual one who was running for president.

Now it's only listed as individual one.

So I guess we're going to have to speculate, but since this was 2016, um, I'm assuming

obviously this was Donald Trump, unless for some reason Hillary Clinton felt the need

to tell Michael Cohen to pay off a porn actress.

Or maybe it was Jill Stein or the Libertarian guy who I from Gary Johnson forgot his name

because he's so, uh, you know, not memorable.

Nonetheless, it's pretty obvious to everyone.

Individual one is Donald Trump.

And here's what this means.

Donald Trump's be going on a tirade the last few days saying, no, that was a personal money

that was a financial transaction by a person to another person that's not a campaign contribution.

Um, what this moron doesn't understand is that it's an in kind contribution.

We have explained this a thousand times and apparently we're going to have to explain

it a thousand more times because Donald Trump doesn't want to seem to understand or he wants

to convince his followers that everybody else is lying about it.

Any money that you spend, whether it is given directly to a campaign or if it's just money

to do something else, if it is to further the cause of that campaign to help the candidate

in any way that is considered an end kind campaign contribution.

That is what that means.

So paying Stormy Daniels, Stephanie Clifford, to remain quiet about their affair so that

it didn't impact his presidential, uh, race.

That is a campaign contribution.

I don't care what idiot tweets out that is what that is.

And according to Cohen, Trump is the one, 100 percent who directed it.

He coordinated it with Trump.

They knew it was happening, they knew the purpose of it.

And that is why they did it.

Now, the southern district of New York adds a little bit of a caveat in there.

And this is, you know, not so good for those of us who want to see Trump fall from grace.

They're not able to say at this point that he knowingly and willfully broke the law.

Now to me though, that kind of seems like a BS statement, right?

We've all heard the expression, ignorance is no excuse.

Oh, I didn't know this was illegal.

That doesn't matter.

That's not a defense that actually works in court.

So it is a bit confusing as to why the US attorney in the southern district of New York

would even bring that up because whether he knew it was illegal or not, he ordered it.

It is illegal.

He did it.

That's a crime.

What's the problem here?

At this point, Donald Trump, based on all the evidence, based on all the testimony is

by definition and unindicted co-conspirator.

That's what's happened here.

We have conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws.

We have the actual violation of campaign finance laws themselves and Donald Trump at this point

in addition to being US president, is by definition an unindicted co-conspirator.

That also helps to explain to a lot of folks why he's been freaking out so much on Twitter

over the last few days.

He feels those walls closing in on him.

He knows that this these revelations from Friday.

This is nothing compared to the other stuff that we're probably going to be finding out

within the next few months.

Pathetic Trump Can't Find Anyone Willing To Be His New Chief Of Staff - Duration: 5:41.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump announced that his chief of staff, John Kelly, is leaving

at the end of the year, something that all of us have known since probably about six

months ago when these stories first started emerging that John Kelly was going to be out

by the end of the year, but nonetheless, Donald Trump announced it and he also said, don't

worry folks.

I have a long list.

There are a lot of people out there who want this job, so everything at the White House

is gonna be awesome.

No.

As it stands right now, there's nobody that wants this job.

Nick Ayers, who was Mike Pence, his chief of staff, was the guy that was going to do

it.

And then he came out and said, nope.

Not only do I not want to do it, I'm going to go ahead and leave Mike Pence as well.

I'm out.

Thank you all.

I'm going to go work for a dark money group and make a ton of cash, but best of luck finding

new chiefs of staff, you morons.

Uh, then rumor was Mnuchin.

Mnuchin says, no, dear God.

No, I don't want that job.

I want to stay where I'm at please.

Thank you sir.

There was Mick Mulvaney from the omb who also says, no, not gonna do that.

I'm going to stay where I'm at.

There was also Robert Lighthizer, uh, with the US trays, the US trade representative

who also said, I don't think I want that position either.

So right now we have a lot of people out there saying thanks, but no thanks.

I don't want to be your chief of staff and a president out there saying, no, there are

plenty of good people who want this job.

So here's what's going to happen.

First and foremost, we're not going to get anybody taking this job that's actually going

to fix the problems of Donald Trump.

Nobody is going to reign in his Twitter feed.

That's where John Kelly's biggest failure came from trying to make Trump act like a

president.

You know, John Kelly was going to be the adult in the room.

We all heard that talking point.

John Kelly was coming to bring this, you know, maturity and respect to the office.

And he ended up ruining his entire reputation and this is now what he's going to be known

for in history books.

And he screwed over his entire legacy because he couldn't even stop a psychotic man from

tweeting.

So yeah, John Kelly's toast is reputations toasts, but so is this position because who

is going to want to go work for a man who, number one, does not want to listen to you.

He wants a spineless yes man or yes woman in that position.

John Kelly wasn't going to do that.

That's why he butted heads with the president.

That's why they argued all the time.

That's why John Kelly walked around the White House, pissed off trying to fight everybody

like the time he tried to fight John Bolton's outside of the Oval Office, but Donald Trump

was just named as an unindicted co-conspiracy, a conspirator in a federal crime who wants

to go work for that guy who wants to be a of this?

You know, as the expression goes, they're rearranging deck chairs on the titanic at

this point.

Trump's entire presidency right now is going down in flames.

There is a chance it's going to recover, there's probably a good chance it is going to recover,

but while it is sinking, no person in their right mind would take on that position and

that's what's even more scary because no person in their right mind would take that job, so

we're going to get somebody maybe not as a clear thinker, somebody who really doesn't

know what they're doing, but they just want the title and they want to work with Trump

and so they're going to tell them yes to whatever crazy idea he has that day.

That's the kind of person we're going to get to fill this slot.

Maybe it's a Sean Hannity, maybe it's the Lou Dobbs.

Maybe it's somebody even worse than those two, but I can promise you it's going to be

somebody on par with them.

Maybe a spineless.

Yes, man.

Congressmen, Hey, Matt Gaetz would make a perfect idiot.

Whipping boy, as Donald Trump's chief of staff time will tell Trump, swears he's going to

have somebody in position by the end of this year and I can promise you it's not going

to be a person that's going to make anyone in this country proud.

Trump's Twitter Feed Is A Case Study In Mental Illness - Duration: 7:41.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump engaged in what might be one of his most absurd, bizarre,

and unnecessary Twitter rants this time it was against Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal

after Blumenthal referred to Donald Trump as he is, which is an unindicted coconspirator.

Based on the filings that were released this past Friday, Donald Trump then took to Twitter

to say the following, "Watched Denang Dick Blumenthal and television spewing facts almost

as accurate as his bravery and Vietnam, which he never saw as the bullets whiz by Denang

Dick's head as he was saving soldiers' left and right.

He then woke up from his dream screaming that he lied.

Next time I go to Vietnam, I will ask the Dick to travel with me."

I will ask the Dick to travel with me, and he put the "Dick" in quotation marks here.

Okay.

Several things to unpack from this psychotic rambling of the president of the United States

here.

First and foremost, if you're not familiar with what the president is actually referring

to, it's an issue that was resolved roughly a decade ago where Blumenthal had misspoken

about his service during the Vietnam War.

He did not go to Vietnam, but unlike Donald Trump, he did enlist.

He was a part of the U.S. National guard here with the United States Marines and he, uh,

a signed up with them after he got his education deferments.

So he got his deferments, went to school, school's over, he signs up and does his duty,

didn't have to go to Vietnam.

He wasn't part of the group that did.

I'm sure there was probably some favors that exchanged hands, you know, wealthy, privileged

kid maybe didn't want to go over there with scared, but hell, at least he did something

which is more than what we can say of the president of the United States, cadette bone

spurs who did everything he could to avoid conflict or signing up at the military in

any way possible.

Now that's one thing.

Obviously everybody on Twitter responded to in these tweets.

The fact that Donald Trump didn't go to Vietnam, he had his bone spurs.

He was a little sissy kid, didn't want to go over there and do anything.

Whatever.

We get it.

That's known.

Everybody understands that and they also understand the hypocrisy.

And the irony of Donald Trump tweeting this out about somebody when he himself didn't

do that thing either.

Here's what gets me about it.

The president is psychotic.

The president is absolutely mentally unstable and should immediately be removed from office.

How about that?

How about we go with that talking point.

Instead of talking about the hypocrisy of he didn't go to Vietnam either.

Everybody knows that these tweets from the president show that this man is insane and

I don't say that lightly.

It's not like, oh, this guy's crazy.

This is insane.

This man is clinically and certifiably insane.

The 25th amendment should have been invoked months ago.

This man needs to undergo very serious psychological evaluations and further more because he is

not alone in this.

If anyone in this country reads these tweets and says, Hell Yeah, how?

Yeah, that's my president.

Then you're just as insane as he is.

No one in this country should feel like this is okay.

That it's good that the president's tweeting out about the deck.

If you think that that's okay, then your part of the problem.

This is not America.

It's who we are.

Now it's who we've allowed ourselves to evolve into, but anybody that actually cares about

this country cares about our reputation, cares about our standing with our allies.

They don't approve of this.

Anybody with a shred of intelligence in their brains wouldn't approve of this, and that's

what's so disgusting about this.

To me, this isn't a partisan issue.

This isn't a "did he or did he not serve in Vietnam" issue.

This is a psychotic man.

Donald Trump serving as the president of the United States and Republicans sitting idly

by wondering, Oh, I wish we could do something about his tweeting.

You have 100 percent of the power to do something about his tweeting.

You could have invoked the 25th amendment a year ago and you sat on your assets and

chose to do nothing.

You own this, his supporters on this and you people are all, every one of you just as horrible,

despicable and deplorable as the president himself and no, you can't change your Twitter

handle and say like, oh, the deplorable Mike Jones as if it's a badge of honor.

It's a disgusting label, but it perfectly describes the people who are out there defending

the president after saying garbage

like this.

Mo' Mueller, Mo' Problems: Trump Implicated in Multiple Felonies | The Daily Show - Duration: 4:51.

More bombshells

from the special counsel's Russia investigation,

which means it's time for another installment

of "Mo Mueller Mo Problems."

Based on recent events, it feels like the Mueller investigation

is finally starting to wrap up.

Then again, it seems like the Mueller investigation

is always wrapping up.

Sort of like a phone call with your mom.

Hmm? Like, "Okay. Okay, bye. Bye, Mom. I love...

"What? Yeah, yeah, no, I-I won't forget.

"Okay, yes. Yes, I'll pray for them.

"All right, bye, Mom. Bye, Mom.

"Okay, I love... No, Mom, I told you I don't watch Dr. Phil.

"No, Mom. Okay, okay, yeah, w... oh, we're breaking up. We...

"I'm just saying the phone. No, no, yes, we are good, Mom.

"No, no, we're not having kids, Mom. I told you...

Okay. Okay, bye... bye, Mom."

Every call. Anyway...

people think the investigation might soon end,

because Mueller and federal prosecutors in New York

have started recommending punishments

for some of the people involved, people like Michael Flynn,

the former national security advisor,

and Michael Cohen, former Trump lawyer

and shady Kramer.

So until now, the only people incriminated

have been Trump's henchmen.

But then on Friday, shit got real.

NEWSWOMAN: For the first time, a separate filing

by the Southern District of New York

directly implicates Mr. Trump in felonies

involving hush money payments,

coordinated by his former attorney Michael Cohen

to Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels

for alleged affairs.

Prosecutors allege that he was trying to secretly manipulate

the election by buying the silence of alleged mistresses

ahead of the campaign.

That's right, the president has been implicated

in multiple felonies.

Let that sink in.

A little more. A little more.

Okay, too much, too much. Take it back a little.

Yeah, just there. That's perfect.

And just to be clear, this isn't even

the collusion-with-Russia thing, right?

Or the obstruction- of-justice thing.

We haven't even gotten to those yet.

These felonies are about Trump paying hush money

to his mistresses.

And if you think about it,

it's weird how much politics and porn are overlapping right now.

Right? 'Cause in the future, kids'll be doing

their American history homework on Pornhub--

that's what it means, right?

They'll be like, "Don't come in, Mom!

I'm learning about the president!"

And what's hilarious is how the prosecutors tried

to give Trump cover by referring to him in these documents

as "Individual-1."

But it's obvious who it is, because they also say,

"Individual-1...

became President of the United States."

(laughter)

I mean...

how much clearer can you get?

It's like, "Individual-1,

who tweets every day at 3:00 a.m...."

Or "Individual-1, who is totally embarrassed

by his idiot son, Individual-1 Junior."

(laughter)

But it's pretty clear by now,

Trump is in some deep shit.

And he has to know it's getting serious,

because people on TV are saying so.

REPORTER: Trump implicated.

Will House democrats push to impeach the president?

The president has now stepped into the same territory

that ultimately led

to President Nixon resigning the office.

Certainly they'd be impeachable offenses,

because even though they were committed

before the president became president,

they were committed in-in-in the service

of fraudulently obtaining the office.

There's a very real prospect that, uh,

on the day Donald Trump leaves office,

the Justice Department may indict him,

that he may be the first president in quite some time

to face the real prospect of jail time.

He's got to know his future looks like it's behind bars

unless he cuts some sort of deal with the prosecutors.

That's right. Things are so serious,

people are talking about President Trump going to prison.

And I know, I know many people might want

to see Trump in prison, but not me, okay.

I do not want to see Trump go to prison,

mostly because if you put Trump in a prison jumpsuit,

it'll just look like he's naked.

(laughter)

And why should we be punished for his crimes?

(laughter)

But even though, even though many legal experts

are saying this could land Trump in prison,

there's one person who watches a lot of Law & Order

who totally disagrees.

The president has an interesting take on the damning documents.

On Twitter he writes "Totally clears the president.

Thank you!"

(laughter)

Oh, man.

You've got to give it to President Trump,

no matter what happens to him, he's always positive.

He'll never admit defeat.

Like, he's gonna be in handcuffs in the back of the cop car,

and he'll be like, (mimics Trump): "Driver,

"thank you for the lovely silver bracelets.

"Now take me to the nearest McDonald's, please.

It's time for victory nuggets."

Prosecutors Say Donald Trump Committed a Crime: A Closer Look - Duration: 11:32.

-The Justice Department effectively called

the President of the United States

a criminal on Friday

as Trump announced the departure of his chief of staff.

For more on this, it's time for "A Closer Look."

[ Cheers and applause ]

Trump is desperate to talk about anything

other than the growing legal problems

engulfing his presidency.

And you can tell because he's picking fights

with everyone from France to China

to his own former Secretary of State.

He's like a feral raccoon

trapped in a corner in the attic.

[ Laughter ]

If he loses in 2020, they're going to have to

chase him out of the Oval Office with a broom.

"Go! Get on! Get outta here!

Oh, no! Now he's biting the broom!"

[ Laughter ]

On Saturday, for example,

he unleashed an unhinged Twitter rant

about Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal

and unveiled a new nickname for him,

calling him "The Dick."

[ Laughter ]

Wow. He's getting angrier and lazier.

[ Laughter ]

The guy's name is Richard so you nicknamed him "The Dick"?

Go ahead. Take the rest of the week off.

You nailed it.

[ Light laughter ]

Then Trump called his former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

"dumb as a rock" and "lazy as hell"

after Tillerson, in a rare interview,

offered some brutal criticism of his former boss.

-How would you describe Donald Trump?

-He acts on his instincts.

In some respects, that looks like impulsiveness.

But it's not his intent to act on impulse.

I think he really is trying to act on his instincts.

It was challenging for me coming from the disciplined,

highly process-oriented ExxonMobil Corporation

to go to work for a man who is pretty undisciplined,

doesn't like to read.

[ Laughter ]

-That's the former Secretary of State

talking about the president of the United States

like he's Mowgli.

[ Laughter ]

"I mean, he doesn't mean to howl and walk on all fours.

He was raised by wolves."

[ Laughter ]

Although, in fairness to Trump,

the reason he doesn't like to read

is that he is bad at it, even if he will never admit it.

-Through their lives, and though their lives...

Beating expectations in the House for the midtown

and midterm year.

They sacrifice every day

for the furniture -- future of their children.

[ Laughter ]

-Instead of saying --

Instead of saying, "furniture, excuse me, future..."

[ Laughter ]

He doubled down on "furniture" and "future."

[ Laughter ]

Can you imagine being this guy's Secretary of State?

"I want to bomb North Dakota."

"You mean North Korea?"

"I mean North Dakota and North Korea!"

[ Laughter ]

"I meant both! You cut me off!"

[ Laughter ]

"Before I got to North Korea."

[ Laughter ]

And while he fires off one Twitter insult after another,

his White House is also undergoing

an unprecedented level of staff turnover.

People are quitting this White House

like it's a Kmart the day before Black Friday.

[ Laughter ]

And on Saturday, Trump confirmed speculation

that Chief of Staff John Kelly

would be leaving the White House at the end of the year,

which means we're at the end of the John Kelly era.

And I just hope that now that his tenure is over,

everyone who hailed him as a paragon of discipline and order

when he first took over will look back and admit

that they were very wrong.

-Kelly's mission is less drama, more discipline

inside the inner circle.

-He's gonna be great.

Keeping things organized, keeping everyone in their lane.

-I think he will bring some order and discipline

to the West Wing.

-I hope that he will demonstrate to the president

the value of discipline.

-If anybody can bring order and discipline to this White House,

it is General Kelly.

I hope that we're at a turning point now.

-Oh, hey, it's Senator Richard Blumenthal

from earlier.

And you were right, Senator -- it was a turning point.

When it started, you were Richard Blumenthal,

and when it ended, you were "The Dick."

[ Laughter ]

Guess he stayed in his lane.

[ Laughter ]

Kelly was never going to bring discipline to this White House.

For one thing, you can't change Trump.

And, also, Kelly wanted the same thing as Trump.

We all just projected ourselves onto Kelly

because his face always looked the way we felt.

[ Laughter ]

But now we know that's just his face.

That's his "Everything is going great" face.

Here he is, blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.

[ Laughter ]

And here's John Kelly on a roller coaster.

[ Laughter ]

-In fact, Kelly served a president

for whom lawbreaking was apparently so routine

that Tillerson had to routinely explain to the President

that the things he wanted to do were illegal.

-When the President would say, "Well, here's what I want to do,

and here's how I want to do it,"

and I'd have to say to him, "Well, Mr. President,

I understand what you want to do but you can't do it that way.

It violates the law. It violates treaty."

-The Secretary of State had to explain to the President

that what he wanted to do was illegal.

I can't even imagine what that was.

"Yes, Mr. President, we have the technology,

but you can't just shoot someone into space.

It's illegal, and on top of that, it's your son."

[ Laughter ]

Trump is fundamentally lawless.

Not only does he think he's above the law,

he doesn't even understand the law.

And on Friday, we got clearest picture yet

of his serial lawbreaking.

The Special Counsel in the Russia investigation

and prosecutors in New York filed sentencing memos

for Trump's ex-campaign chairman Paul Manafort

and his ex-fixer Michael Cohen.

And they made it pretty clear that the Justice Department

has damning evidence on Trump's ties to Russia.

-In a new court filing, Special Counsel Robert Mueller

says former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort

lied about several key points

after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors.

-Now, this could mean Mueller's team has more evidence

about contacts between people close the President

and Russians during the 2016 campaign.

-In November 2015, prosecutors say Cohen

spoke with a Russian national

who claimed to be a trusted person in the Russian Federation

who promised the campaign political synergy

and synergy on a government level.

-Oh, synergy.

Trump must have been so pumped when he heard that.

"See, it wasn't collusion. It was synergy.

And now I'm just gonna check my thesaurus.

And, son of a bitch!"

[ Laughter and applause ]

And -- And if you thought --

[ Applause ]

If you thought prosecutors were being coy

when they used the word synergy instead of collusion,

they were much more on the nose

in their sentencing recommendations for Cohen.

Prosecutors spelled out as clearly as possible

in this document that they believe

the President of the United States

committed a crime by paying hush money to cover up affairs.

How do we know that?

Well, they didn't mention Trump by name,

but according to the court documents,

"During the campaign, Cohen played a central role

in two similar schemes to purchase the rights to stories,

each from women who'd claimed to have an affair

with Individual 1, so as to suppress the stories

and thereby prevent them from influencing the election."

And who is Individual 1?

Well, the court documents are cryptic, but here's one clue.

"On approximately June 16, 2015, Individual 1 began

an ultimately successful campaign

for President of the United States."

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

[ Laughter ]

Of course, the only thing worse for Trump

than finding out he's Individual 1

would be if he found out he was Individual 2.

[ Laughter ]

"Who the hell is number 1?!"

[ Laughter ]

"It's not Hillary, is it?"

So there you go -- the court documents

say explicitly that Individual 1

committed a felony, and they made clear

that Individual 1 is the President of the United States,

or as Trump put it on Twitter,

"Totally clears the President, thank you."

[ Laughter ]

Now, you might be asking yourself,

how could Trump have read these documents

and come to the conclusion that they totally clear him?

And he explained it to reporters on Saturday.

-On the Mueller situation, we're very happy with

what we are reading,

because there was no collusion whatsoever.

I think it's all turning around very nicely.

But as far as the report that we see,

according to everybody I've spoken to --

I have not read it. -You --

[ Laughter ]

You didn't read it?

Oh, dude, you -- you should read it.

[ Laughter ]

If there was a document that detailed crimes

I was implicated in, the only way I wouldn't read it

is if I knew what was in it.

Trump might as well go full old cowboy and say,

"I don't have to read it, boy.

I lived it."

[ Laughter ]

Well, in lieu of reading, Trump must've spent the weekend

psyching himself up, because this morning,

he got up early and gave us all

that classic Twitter meltdown we were expecting.

And aside from the misspellings,

watch how many times he changes his argument

in the span of just two tweets.

-Democrats can't find a smoking gun

tying the Trump campaign to Russia

after James Comey's testimony.

No smoking gun, no collusion. @FoxNews

That's because there was," all caps, "no collusion.

So now the Dems go to simple private transaction,

wrongly calling it a campaign contribution,

which it was not, but even if it was,

it's only a civil case, like Obama's.

But it was done correctly by a lawyer,

and there would not even be a fine.

Lawyer's liability if he made a mistake, not me.

Cohen," speaking of Michael Cohen, his former fixer,

"just trying to get his sentence reduced."

All caps, "Witch hunt!"

-My God. It was legal, but if it wasn't, it was civil.

But it was done correctly,

but if it wasn't, it's not my fault."

[ Laughter ]

But to put it a way Donald Trump will understand,

where there's smock, there's foyer.

[ Laughter and applause ]

And let's just --

let's just address for a second

this argument that Obama did the same thing,

because it's an argument Trump's supporters

are starting to make, and it's insane.

Every campaign makes paperwork errors.

That happens all the time.

And in 2013, Obama's campaign was fined

for omitting some donors' names.

Independent experts called it relatively minor,

and even a Republican lawyer

said it was a very clean audit report

for the Obama campaign.

And let's be honest, there's a huge difference

between an accounting error and a hush payment

to cover up an affair.

If you don't believe me, go home and tell your spouse,

"I had sex with a porn star and made an accounting error."

[ Laughter ]

Let me know which one they focus on.

[ Laughter and applause ]

Trump didn't just make a paperwork error.

It's not like he was sitting there with a green eye shade,

trying to balance the books and missed something.

"Let's see -- 50 bucks for pizza,

$100 for lawn signs.

Oh, $130,000 to pay off a porn star.

I almost forgot. I'll put that under utilities."

[ Laughter ]

Every day, there are new revelations

that seem to fade away, but this feels like a watershed.

The Justice Department just called

the President of the United States a criminal.

I don't know if Trump will ever be indicted or impeached,

but if he is, he probably won't know what he's charged with

because he -- -Doesn't like to read.

-This has been "A Closer Look."

[ Cheers and applause ]
