BREAKING

TRUMP CAPTURED HIM OVERNIGHT, HE'S IN CUSTODY – THIS IS HUGE!

President Donald Trump just scored a major victory when U.S. officials announced that

special operations forces have captured a key militant in the 2012 Benghazi attack on

a U.S. consulate that left four Americans dead.

CBS News reported that the suspect has been identified as Mustafa al-Imam, who was captured

in Libya and transported back to the U.S., where he is in the custody of the Department

of Justice.

President Trump released a statement saying that al-Imam will face justice for his alleged

role in the attack.

"To the families of these fallen heroes: I want you to know that your loved ones are

not forgotten, and they will never be forgotten," Trump said.

The Benghazi attack, which took place on September 11, 2012, killed Ambassador Chris Stevens,

U.S. State Department computer expert Sean Smith and CIA contractors Glen Doherty and

Tyrone Woods.

Stevens and Smith perished in the burning diplomatic outpost as American forces tried

to rescue them, while Doherty and Woods died eight hours later in a mortar attack on a

nearby CIA complex.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson released a statement saying that he was "deeply grateful"

to the U.S. military and the intelligence community for capturing the militant.

"Department of State family continues to mourn" the four Americans killed in the

attack and that officials "will spare no effort to ensure that justice is served,"

Tillerson said.

"I spoke with some of their family members to underscore the U.S. government's unwavering

support."

Hillary Clinton will undoubtedly be panicking about this, as she wants everyone to forget

that the Benghazi attack ever happened.

As Secretary of State, Clinton ignored Stevens' frequently pleas for help before the attack

took place.

She could have stopped the attack from taking place, yet she did nothing and let four Americans

die on her watch.

BREAKING Trump Signed His Latest Executive Order - Duration: 16:02.

BREAKING Trump Signed His Latest Executive Order

On April 10th of this year, the President officially signed an executive order that

will aid in reducing poverty in the United States by promoting financial opportunity

and economic mobility.

However, it has largely been under-reported on.

The White House press office did, however, release a statement on it saying,

"By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United

States of America, and to promote economic mobility, strong social networks, and accountability

to American taxpayers, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1.

Purpose.

The United States and its Constitution were founded on the principles of freedom and equal

opportunity for all.

To ensure that all Americans would be able to realize the benefits of those principles,

especially during hard times, the Government established programs to help families with

basic unmet needs.

Unfortunately, many of the programs designed to help families have instead delayed economic

independence, perpetuated poverty, and weakened family bonds.

While bipartisan welfare reform enacted in 1996 was a step toward eliminating the economic

stagnation and social harm that can result from long-term Government dependence, the

welfare system still traps many recipients, especially children, in poverty and is in

need of further reform and modernization in order to increase self-sufficiency, well-being,

and economic mobility.

Sec. 2.

Policy.

(a) In 2017, the Federal Government spent more than $700 billion on low-income assistance.

Since its inception, the welfare system has grown into a large bureaucracy that might

be susceptible to measuring success by how many people are enrolled in a program rather

than by how many have moved from poverty into financial independence.

This is not the type of system that was envisioned when welfare programs were instituted in this

country.

The Federal Government's role is to clear paths to self-sufficiency, reserving public

assistance programs for those who are truly in need.

The Federal Government should do everything within its authority to empower individuals

by providing opportunities for work, including by investing in Federal programs that are

effective at moving people into the workforce and out of poverty.

It must examine Federal policies and programs to ensure that they are consistent with principles

that are central to the American spirit — work, free enterprise, and safeguarding human and

economic resources.

For those policies or programs that are not succeeding in those respects, it is our duty

to either improve or eliminate them.

(b) It shall be the policy of the Federal Government to reform the welfare system of

the United States so that it empowers people in a manner that is consistent with applicable

law and the following principles, which shall be known as the Principles of Economic Mobility:

(i) Improve employment outcomes and economic independence (including by strengthening existing

work requirements for work-capable people and introducing new work requirements when

legally permissible);

(ii) Promote strong social networks as a way of sustainably escaping poverty (including

through work and marriage);

(iii) Address the challenges of populations that may particularly struggle to find and

maintain employment (including single parents, formerly incarcerated individuals, the homeless,

substance abusers, individuals with disabilities, and disconnected youth);

(iv) Balance flexibility and accountability both to ensure that State, local, and tribal

governments, and other institutions, may tailor their public assistance programs to the unique

needs of their communities and to ensure that welfare services and administering agencies

can be held accountable for achieving outcomes (including by designing and tracking measures

that assess whether programs help people escape poverty);

(v) Reduce the size of bureaucracy and streamline services to promote the effective use of resources;

(vi) Reserve benefits for people with low incomes and limited assets;

(vii) Reduce wasteful spending by consolidating or eliminating Federal programs that are duplicative

or ineffective;

(viii) Create a system by which the Federal Government remains updated on State, local,

and tribal successes and failures, and facilitates access to that information so that other States

and localities can benefit from it; and

(ix) Empower the private sector, as well as local communities, to develop and apply locally

based solutions to poverty.""

The executive order continues to describe in great detail and length how the administration

intends on curbing poverty.

But most importantly it focuses on several key factors in achieving this outcome,

improve employment outcomes and economic independence; promote marriage and family as a way of escaping

poverty; address the challenges of hard-to-employ populations;

provide more flexibility to States, while ensuring accountability for achieving outcomes;

streamline services to more effectively use taxpayer resources;

reserve benefits for those truly in need; consolidate duplicative programs;

facilitate greater sharing of information between States and localities; and

empower the private sector to find solutions to poverty

In the fine print of the executive order, the administration makes it clear they will

be increasing work requirements for those utilizing subsidized government benefits,

focusing on using taxpayer dollars for their intended purpose, as well as empowering state

and local authorities to provide services to those in need.

This executive order is going to be yet another notch under the belt of the administration

in curbing poverty and decreasing unemployment.

For the third straight month, the United States has maintained a 4.1 percent unemployment

rate which is the lowest it has been since 2000.

These are near record low numbers at a time when businesses are dealing with a shortage

of labor.

President Trump brought this order about because despite the labor shortage federal government

assistance benefits are being used at an all-time high.

In 2016 alone, a total of 16 million able-bodied individuals were enrolled in the Supplemental

Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP).

While in January 2018 74 million were enrolled in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance

Program (CHIP).

These numbers continue to increase and something must be done about it which is exactly why

the President introduced and signed this executive order.

By focusing on creating more opportunities for Americans to work it will lead to more

income in their pockets and less of a need for governmental assistance programs.

That means they'll be less likely to vote Democrat.

This is what provides people a pathway to financial freedom and the middle class and

that is what this administration is all about.

Especially given the fact the statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that 97 percent

of full-time workers eventually move out of poverty.

Notes on an Interpreters' Notes - The Trump-Putin Helsinki incident - Duration: 7:11.

Hello. Ewandro here. I wanted to add my two cents to the conversation

going on about the incident involving the interpreter to President Trump

regarding the Helsinki summit. There's now talk of that interpreter being

subpoenaed and asked to testify before Congress and at some point being

pressured to divulge information gained or content or information gained as a

result of her exposure to that high-level meeting which again goes and

runs contrary to a basic tenet of interpreting, which is of course

confidentiality. But I don't want to talk about the legal implications in this

case. Rather I want to take advantage of this incident for what it

gives us and for the opportunity it presents us to help people understand a

bit better how interpreters do their job. Because from the questions being asked

it is evident that there's a lot of ignorance out there. For example there's

now mention of the interpreter eventually being asked to submit her notes in the

hope that those notes are going to help clarify what the content of the meeting

was. There are many things wrong with this plan, and here's why. Number 1: Those

notes are no longer in existence, most likely. Any interpreter worth her salt at

the end of such a high caliber meeting would have disposed of those notes

appropriately. Number 2: Unlike stenographers, interpreters don't share a

common set of icons and symbols or a language that they use to take those

notes. The notes are not something that an interpreter

would look at and say 'oh yeah, she means this...

and that. This is what they're talking about.' It's not a language. It is

just a set of very random icons, abbreviations, upward and downward arrows

and so on that interpreters will use in a way that makes sense to them, and no-one

else. It's very cryptic and very economical even.

If you look at a page there's not much there, and it's because

they're just aids to memory. They're just there to trigger your thinking and

most likely just to help you understand what the logic of the conversation is,

where I'm coming from and where I'm going to, what came first in what came

second, if I'm reconstructing a speech from a long page of annotations.

Sometimes interpreters will take 5 to 8 minutes of non-stop speech before

they even are given a chance to start getting that back across in a different

language. So the notes are totally and utterly useless to anybody else looking

Even if they are produced they're not gonna help anybody.

Abbreviations, for example the letter E, could mean Empowerment. It could be Energy and

it could be elections. But in the course of one same conversation the same letter

will be used to mean different things to the same interpreter, because it's all

context driven. Even for that interpreter who took them those notes are not

gonna be valid and useful for much longer, because from that meeting she

went into another one and another one because she's on mission, following a

large team of aides and advisors and authorities around, and she doesn't have

the time to keep those notes and reflect on them. She's not keeping those notes to

write a report later. Once the meeting is over she shakes that all off, dusts it

all off, moves on to the next assignment where she's already busy preparing the

terminology, piling up information getting the specifics, and

that takes a lot of attention and a lot of bandwidth. So you don't have the

luxury of contemplating your notes a second time to actually make sense of

them. In a couple of hours if you look at the page you won't be able to even

make sense of what the notes were supposed to mean to you. Number 3,

most importantly, is that if that interpreter is ever

forced to come before Congress and divulge or share information,

confidential information gained in the course of that meeting, I wouldn't be

surprised if she claimed not to have any recollection. And I would totally believe

her, because I've been in that exact situation where you try your

best to get the message across and so on but you're not concentrating on content.

We're not hearing secrets or keeping them in retaining them for later

consumption, to convey them to someone else after the fact. We're too busy

with half of our mind just listening to a language, trying to

understand the units of meaning coming our way. Another third of your

mind going to reprocessing that in a different language. And the third that's

left of your mind is just checking on yourself and on your language and your

grammar and your style to make sure it all makes sense and comes across in an

elegant and an intelligible fashion. Interpreters are also very skilled at

remembering but also forgetting, because they need to void their mind

the minute the meeting ends, to actually get ready for what comes

next. So interpreters will not retain secrets

that's not what we do. Interpreters are not in for the message, you know,

content-wise. They are in for the logic and the units of meaning and making sure

that they work as a conduit that is actually making it possible for the

other two people or more in the room to communicate. That's number three.

Going back to the whole politics of it, if you want my opinion, I don't think an

interpreter should be put in that situation. I know there are legal

constraints in this case and again it's a matter of what takes precedence over

what. And not only because of what it means to the interpreter in question,

but because of what it means to the whole system. You don't want to undermine the

system of confidence that is in place to a point where next time a

high-level figure walks into a private room to have a high-level meeting he or

she might be doubtful as to whether s/he can trust the interpreter. So those

were my two cents and again I just wanted to go back to some technicalities

of interpreting to help you understand, those of you who are not interpreters,

how the whole thing happens and how it's done. I am Ewandro Magalhaes, a

conference interpreter - have been for 30 years, almost. Former chief interpreter

in the United Nations system in Geneva for seven years, and currently the VP

of Communications of KUDO, a company that is innovating the very way in which

interpretation is delivered. I hope you found this useful. Thank you very much.

I will see you next time.

NEWSROOM: POMPEO: TRUMP HAS BEEN "RELENTLESS" ON RUSSIA - Duration: 12:12.

picking news on two big stories that were following this morning the first

near Branson Missouri powerful waves capsizing a duck boat killing at least

13 people four others are still missing we're expecting a news conference at

10:00 a.m. we will take you there live when it begins also tornadoes touching

down in Iowa the sudden storms injuring 17 people and destroying many homes

yesterday but we begin with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo firmly defending

President Trump on his summit with Vladimir Putin as he heads to the UN for

high-level meetings on North Korea this morning good morning everyone I'm Sandra

Smith happy Friday everyone live inside America's newsroom good morning to you

I'm John Scott in for Bill Hemmer today Secretary of State Pompeo set to address

the media a few hours from now after meeting with members of the UN Security

Council including ambassador nikki Haley America's top diplomat saying last night

that as of right now kim jeong-hoon is holding up his end of the deal

no one's been closer than that than I have so everyone else is simply

speculating about what's taking place today I've been there the North Koreans

have consistently reaffirmed their commitment the commitment that chairman

Kim made to President Trump no one was under any illusion that this was going

to happen in hours or days or even weeks it's going to take time we have live Fox

team coverage Kevin cork is at the White House and we'll get reactions from

Washington Examiner editorial director Hugo Garden but we begin with Richardson

at UN headquarters this morning in new york city good morning rich hi good

morning Sandra and at the bottom of this hour Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

begins his meetings here at the United Nations in New York with the foreign

minister from South Korea UN Security Council officals Japanese officials and

UN leadership to update them on United States negotiations with North Korea to

relieve Kim jong-un of his nuclear weapons program secretary Pompeo just

returned from Pyongyang it was his third visit to that city it's unclear what

specific firm commitments Kim is made on dismantling that nuclear program

secretary Pompeo insists kim understands us demands and is committed to

surrendering his program the State Department refuses to offer a timeline

only acknowledging there's still a lot of work to do to accomplish this

analysts have also said that satellite images show continued North Korean work

on some of its weapons productions facilities secretary Pompeo says the US

has secured at least a commitment from North Korea for the return of the

remains of American service members that were killed during the Korean War that's

expected in the next couple of weeks he says now here at the Security Council

there are efforts from China and Russia to ease sanctions against North Korea to

reward it for already negotiating though South Korea's foreign minister has

rejected that idea the Trump administration has also said it is

pushing continued enforcement of existing sanctions against the Kim

regime and it has refused to enact additional sanctions against North Korea

now we asked the State Department while the Secretary of State is here at the

United Nations whether he would meet with any representatives from the North

Korean government the State Department would only say that that is not on the

schedule and they'll update us on any type of changes to that schedule if they

do occur the meetings begin here in less than 45 minutes for the secretary Sandra

right well look forward to all that Richardson thank you

meanwhile President Trump vowing to be very tough on Vladimir Putin if

diplomacy fails as the White House invites the Russian president to make an

official visit this fall getting along with President Putin and getting along

with Russia's a positive not a negative right now with that being said if that

doesn't work out I'll be the worst enemy he's ever had the worst he's ever had

Kevin cork who's one of our best friends is on the North Lawn with that part of

the story Kevin always great to be with you my friend co colorado by the way if

you missed all the news yesterday I'm sure you heard a great deal about it

speaking to the folks at home just know this when the White House's perspective

this is not a do-over or Redux as much as this is a continuation of an

important conversation the president making those commitments during the

summit in Helsinki and he'd like to see them play out actually right here in

Washington the this fall let me take it to Twitter show

you what Sarah Sanders had to say about it yesterday

that really sent us scrambling John in the afternoon she said in Helsinki the

president agreed to ongoing working-level dialogue between the two

Security Council staffs then she said this the president asked ambassador

Bolton to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those

discussions are already underway now that announcement underscores the

administration's push to engage Moscow in a way that could lead to better

relations but the President as you pointed out John said yesterday that

doesn't mean that this administration will be soft on Russia look at the

sanctions I've put on look at the diplomats I threw out look at all of the

things that I've done nobody else did what I've done Obama didn't do it

Obama was a patsy for Russia he was a total patsy look at the statement he

made when he thought the mics were turned off okay the stupid statement he

made nobody there's a big deal about that president once again being animated

about some things have happened in the recent past meanwhile Secretary of State

Mike Pompeo who clearly would take the lead on any new talks describe the

president's thinking this way he's trying to take opportunities places

where we find we can work together and put America in a position to do the

things he wants to do on behalf of the American people and that's the idea here

at the White House they want the president to continue to advance our

agenda by engaging Moscow when and where we can John so the Director of National

Intelligence had an interesting reaction to the news yesterday about this

Vladimir Putin invitation to Washington what is the White House saying about

that yeah interesting indeed he was actually over in Colorado and look at

the the White House will tell you they weren't exactly thrilled by the reaction

but they certainly understand because when you think about it Jon he's got a

portfolio ambassador Bolton has a portfolio he can't be expected to know

what everyone is doing across the senior leadership but I want to share for the

folks at home his reaction to being told about what Sarah Sanders had to say on

Twitter watch here the White House has announced on Twitter that Vladimir Putin

is coming to the White House in the fall

say that again

that's gonna be special okay a couple ways you can look at that little levity

at a conference or a damning indictment of the information flow within the

administration or maybe somewhere in between but White House officials tell

us don't make more out of this than we are back to you John even the nation's

top spy can't be plugged in every minute of it that's right all right Kevin cork

at the White House Kevin thank you and as we mentioned Secretary of State Mike

Pompeo repeatedly making it clear last night in that interview that the

president understands the threat from Russia

watch the noise these last few days the president's been very resolute he

understands precisely who it is we're dealing with in Russia he gets it

Hugo Gurdon is the editorial director at the Washington Examiner he joins me now

Hugo good morning to you good morning so should that interview calm the

president's critics well it should but I think you and I know Sandra that it's

not going to nothing has calmed them in the 18 months since he was inaugurated

so you know the truth is that the president's performance in Helsinki was

weak and it was disappointing through a lot of people and that you know the

thing however to remember is that the critics while they might be right on the

performance having been weak they're absolutely it's it is absurd as Mike

Pompeo said to say that somehow that performance proved that the President

Putin has some sort of dirt on President Trump that it is some sort of hold you

know president Trump is absolutely right when he talked about the things that he

has done to counter Russia the things that he didn't mention there

was just a few days before the Helsinki summit he was excoriating Germany for a

business deal on a gas pipeline which he said was enriching Russia

he's boosted American troop levels to counter Russia he sent deadly weapons to

the Ukrainians including sophisticated anti-tank weapons these are not the

actions of someone who seems to be a puppet of the Moscow you know DNI

director Dan coats and sort of what appeared to be a bit of a light moment

depending on how you look at it learned of this upcoming meeting with Putin in

Washington perhaps this fall on that stage there but nonetheless a meeting

with Putin in Washington is the White House perhaps giving everybody something

to look forward to - maybe distract from the Helsinki

summit I don't think that this is intended as a distraction I mean after

the last several days have been a certain amount of damage limitation

because of the way the Helsinki wants but I suspect that you know President

Trump is just not going to be deflected from his efforts to have a better

relationship with Russia he sometimes does that in a very clumsy way here but

you know there's also the fact that the his administration and the White House

spring surprises on its own administration so sure that information

presumably took mr. Coates by surprise and that is the kind of thing which

administration's should try not to have as big surprises what did she make it

the president really taking on Obama there he's made the point many times

that he's been tougher on Russia than Obama ever was but he said Obama was a

patsy for Russia yeah you know that's that's not it not a completely wrong

assessment you you he referred to the tape where President Obama was

reassuring the Russian Prime Minister that after the election and he had no

more elections to to run he could be kind of easier on Russia when it came to

the Ukraine President Obama refused to send the kind

of weaponry that President Trump has then he sent sort of pretty much useless

things like blankets you know if the truth is that President

Obama was in the way that in his actual policies softer on Russia than Trump has

been the the odd thing is that there's a big gulf between the rhetoric and the

actions with Obama the actions were softer and the rhetoric was a bit

tougher with the president Trump there's been plenty of tough actions but the

rhetoric looks ridiculously soft sometimes change quickly this morning

with Mike Pompeo attending those high-level meetings at the UN thank you

very much for your time this morning Hewitt thanks Sandra thanks we are

awaiting an update from authorities on the tourist boat that capsized in a

terrible storm near Branson Missouri killing at least 13 people as divers now

search for more survivors we will bring you that news conference as soon as it

begins plus president Trump slamming former CIA director John Brennan as a

new op-ed makes the case that Brennan's actions during the 2016 election were

even more troubling than James commis and by now you likely have heard the

incredible story of a young man determined to make it to his first day

of work and how a community came together to make it happen later this

hour we'll speak with one of the police officers who helped him along the way

officer pass by me and he looked around he was like I was halfway asleep when I

patted by you he said II know if it was the shadow rising

or was actually a person I told him I said I actually kind of my hair when you

would cut the lights on behind me because everybody else's just drive by

right past me

Trump says he's 'unhappy' with U.S. Fed's interest rate hike - Duration: 0:47.

As the political firestorm over his summit with Putin continues, President Trump has

weighed in on his country's monetary policy.

In an interview with CNBC that was broadcast on Thursday, Trump said he was unhappy about

the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike amid his efforts to boost the economy.

"…..I'm not thrilled, because you know, we go up, and every time we go up, they want

to raise rates again, and I don't really, uh, I am not happy about it……"

His remarks break more than 20 years of White House tradition of steering clear of comments

on central bank policy and the value of the dollar.

The White House later issued a statement, saying Trump respects the Fed's independence

and is not interfering with its policy decisions.

Trump, Brexit, World Cup - Duration: 4:53.

In a world where

society's tearing itself apart,

the very foundations of civilization are being questioned,

the rule of law is failing...

this summer, there's one team who seek the answers the world needs.

Welcome to British Rationals.

Why not go to North Korea? they said.

Write a puff piece for the Guardian they said.

It's been the worst summer holiday ever.

Welcome to British Rationals series four.

In a week when...

The controversial visit of controversial US president Donald Trump last week to the UK

proved so controversial I literally don't have time to talk about all the controversies that happened.

Then he went to Finland to meet Vladimir Putin.

I cannot believe he bad mouthed Theresa in the Sun newspaper!

Complete breach of protocol!

Only top Tories are allowed to backstab our Prime Minister.

I'm a teacher

so I have to separate children from their parents every single morning

but at least I know who to hand them back to at the end of the day.

See I quite like Donald Trump.

He's a man that does and says exactly what he wants.

He's a man that doesn't care if the world burns.

I quite respect that

even if he does look like one of my jobbies after a night on the Irn Bru.

You know the American establishment is outraged by Trump's performance and it's no surprise.

I mean if there's one thing that they hate more than racial equality,

women's reproductive rights, environmental standards and gun control

it's the Russians.

Trump and Putin they have much in common.

Trump he grabbed them by the pussy.

Putin, he grabbed them by the Pussy Riot

throw them in gulag.

Trump reckons Boris Johnson would make for a good PM.

Them two would resemble a grown-up Jedward running the world.

*bleep*

I'm not surprised Trump claimed his meeting with Putin would prove the easiest of the lot.

It's always a good idea to butter up your boss before your performance review.

In order to stave off a party revolt this week

Theresa May was forced to make a number of amendments to a Chequers white paper

which means we need to talk about Brexit.

Again.

Some say Brexit is not going to hurt

but Brexit hasn't happened yet.

It's like saying I have never broken my foot so I don't believe in pain.

All these snowflake Remainers are saying

"there's no plan!"

There is a plan!

No Deal.

I should be *bleep* happy

Boris Johnson has resigned.

You know what they say though

weebles wobble but they don't fall down

As an NHS nurse I'm glad they've at least come to an agreement on medicines.

I genuinely thought that we'd have to buy our supplies from this intimidating Scottish bloke

always hanging around the back of the hospital.

It's a load of pish.

I was due to make a killing!

Intimidating eh?

Not bad.

I tried teaching my students about Brexit

but none of its real.

Borders, tariffs it's all just man-made *bleep*

It's worse than teaching R.E.

Plus ca change,

plus c'est la meme chose

That's French.

Which will be banned after March.

Speaking of the French,

you may have noticed they won the World Cup on Sunday

and in typical football fans style,

they celebrated by smashing up Paris.

Just Fontaine would be proud.

Some people were concerned over Raheem Sterling having a tattoo of a gun.

If he ever gets a real one and goes on a shooting spree

just stand between two goal posts and you'll be fine.

I heard the England team got a new psychologist

to help them to not fear failure.

How's that working out for yer?

At least you don't have to lose in the Euros.

Brexit means Brexit no?

We had some parents invade the Year Four football match last year.

Mind you

they were protesting the price of the new school uniform

not the suppression of political freedom.

It's just as well England didn't win

there's not enough ambulances left in the country for the celebrations.

It's been an incredible summer of sport!

To be followed by an autumn of political drudgery.

Pelosi: Who is Brett Kavanaugh, Trump's SCOTUS pick? - Duration: 21:48.

Democrats are absolutely desperate to stop the Senate from confirming

president Trump's extraordinarily well-qualified second nominee to the

Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh who is currently serving with distinction on

the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Cavanaugh is a

brilliant jurist who successfully navigated the confirmation process

twelve years ago to get on the appellate court where he now serves and by all

accounts the judge is a dedicated father and husband respected and admired by

those he has worked for and fault with without even the slightest hint of

scandal in his background yet Democrats have declared war on president Trump's

nominee even though voters who elected Trump did so in part because he promised

to pick Supreme Court justices from a list of outstanding candidates that he

made public I'm going to fight this nomination with everything I've got

sending Minority Leader Chuck Schumer dn.y said recently flanked by ten

Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee Schumer made it

clear that his party will do everything short of breaking the law to keep

Cavanaugh from taking the high court seat of retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy

but much to their frustration Democrats can't keep Kavanagh off the Supreme

Court with a frontal assault Republicans hold 51 seats in the 100 member Senate

and a handful of moderate Democrats up for re-election in November in states

that voted for Donald Trump in 2016 may vote with their GOP colleagues to

confirm Cavanaugh MBA pack chair Scott Bolden and former deputy independent

counsel Saleh Weissenberg debate video Democrats gear up for fight over

Kavanagh nomination fearing they don't have the votes to prevent Cavanaugh's

confirmation Democrats are developing a strategy of obstruction and delay this

strategy would block Cavanaugh his confirmation vote by making a patently

absurd demand for as many as several million pages of records from his

extensive government career as a Supreme Court Clerk an attorney on the

investigation that led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton a

senior aide to President George W and an appeals court judge under this

plan Democrats would demand the release of every single record that might be

relevant to Cavanaugh including emails which could effectively push the

hearings and vote well past the November midterm elections when Democrats might

win majority control of the Senate and then be able to defeat Cavanaugh's

nomination Democrats may demand all documents relating to Cavanaugh's time

working on the Clinton whitewater investigation for Independent Counsel

Kenneth Starr but the nonpartisan National Archives has reported that

there are about 20,000 such documents in its possession and that it would take 22

months to five years to review and release them and responding to a lawsuit

by a public interest group under the Freedom of Information Act the George W

Bush Library and Museum has stated that fulfilling the group's demands for

documents about Cavanaugh's activities as a White House Counsel and staff

secretary would take 20 years and in any case would not include nearly 14,000

pages of materials exempted under law President Trump picks Brett Cavanaugh to

replace the retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court here's a

look at Trump's nominee video who is Brett Kavanaugh Trump's Coda's pick

delays of this magnitude are to use a legal term absolutely nuts before

yielding two demands for the review and release of hundreds of thousands or

perhaps millions of pages of documents Republican senators should demand that

their Democratic colleagues limit their demands to documents truly relevant to

judge in Cavanaugh's fitness if Democrats refuse Senate Majority Leader

Mitch McConnell r-ky would have grounds to schedule a timely vote before the

November midterm elections after all the object of the disclosure is not supposed

to be to delay and defeat a nomination but to permit the Senate to make a fully

informed judgment about the nominees merits if ten Democrats on the Judiciary

Committee tell the world that their minds are completely closed regarding a

nominee as they have done they are also saying that no amount of additional

information can change their minds Senate Democrats had plenty of time to

review this material in the three years yes three years

in which they held up Cavanaugh's nomination to the federal appeals court

in Washington another multi-year delay to review

Cavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court would be unjust and could set a

dangerous precedent that could leave seats on the High Court vacant for years

Democrats might also prompt a fight over executive privilege to further delay

matters as a White House aide Cavanaugh worked on matters of the highest

sensitivity as the Supreme Court recognized in the Watergate tapes case

the White House can claim an executive privilege the right to keep discussions

between the president and his advisors secret the Supreme Court said this right

of executive privilege would rise to its highest level if the subject involved

national security military and diplomatic affairs and law enforcement

but that other subjects might give way if the need of the other branches were

compelling enough Senate Democrats might try to delay a vote on Kavanagh so long

as the White House invokes executive privilege over Cavanaugh's work as an

aide the White House could extend a hand of cooperation by waiving its right of

executive privilege over all but the most sensitive national security and

military documents but the White House should also resist the temptation to

give up all of its rights because that could set a precedent that would tie the

hands of future presidents and would also discourage qualified candidates

with previous government service from becoming judges instead the White House

should stand firm that it will not produce the documents from Cavanaugh's

time as president george w bush's staff secretary when his job was essentially

to control the flow of memos and orders that require the president's personal

review and signature these documents would have little to do with Cavanaugh's

judicial views because he served as gatekeeper rather than author of the

documents he gave President Bush the Trump administration is not trying to

stonewall document production the Justice Department has told each of the

93 US attorneys nationwide to provide up to three staffers to review documents

relating to the Cavanagh nomination over the next few weeks this kind of effort

to speed up the release of documents requested by the soon at is

unprecedented senator Orrin Hatch Republican Utah a veteran of many

years on the Judiciary Committee hit exactly the right note yes hatch

acknowledged there is a lot a lot of documentation they are going to have to

disclose but at the same time hatch warned I think you can ask for too much

here is the bottom line whether Democrats like it not Donald Trump is

the duly elected president of the United States whether they like it or not

voters elected a Republican majority to the US Senate obstructing and paralyzing

the functioning of the u-s government including the supreme court is harmful

to our national interest and dangerous if democrats want to control who gets

seated on the Supreme Court they will need to get the American people to put

them back in charge of the Senate and elect a Democratic president joining me

now for reaction are two esteemed attorneys salt Weissenberg was the

deputy independent counsel during the investigations into Bill Clinton knows

Brett Kavanaugh and Scott Bolden is a Democrat and chair of the National Bar

Association political action committee great to see you um let's sit with you

Scott I think it's completely fair game for the Senate use their constitutional

responsibility seriously question Cavanaugh's judicial philosophy his

approach to the Constitution and ask him about past cases that's what you should

do in your process of reviewing these nominees but what you heard from Chuck

Schumer is something quite different he's now demanding contrary to what he

said one year ago one year and three months ago that nominees must say how

they're going to rule on certain hot-button cases or they're at all about

or their philosophies listen that's all about Obamacare this is all about

abortion or roe v-- wade and it's all about whether this justice this justice

nominee believes that the president can either be prosecuted or subpoenaed and

what-have-you these are not hot-button issues for the Democrats these are real

issues and when you take the gloves off and no Senate hearings if you look at

maybe the last five to ten that have been published or that we've seen you've

got non answers you've got questions that skirt the issue the Democrats

I think some Republicans are going to come out and say tell me what your

feelings or thoughts are on roe v-- wade when you went to the DC Circuit Cavan

justice Cavanaugh when he went to the DC Circuit he said he would follow a roe v

wade but that was a that was a mix because the problem that that is he was

going to the DC Circuit now he's going to be on a street forum' court why

shouldn't we be what I asked him his feelings on Rovio matter one Ruth Bader

Ginsburg got her confirmation hearing was very concerned about being asked

specific questions Chuck Schumer among many other Democrats when when we had a

Kagan up when we had Sotomayor up Democrat before he knew the place

okay just someplace shot and you're about to ship this court to the right

right I think you're wrong about that and a lot of conservatives are probably

not gonna be happy to hear this I think you guys ought to be really thinking

yourselves thank you thinking this president that he nominated someone like

Kevin who is who is he is to the right probably a little bit of Kennedy but the

idea that Brett Kavanaugh is going to like radically you know move to take the

first abortion case and overturn rose I don't see how undone violence and prior

opinions to all three of those areas the first thing but but here's the thing

when you use hysterics and what have you what about the justice crisis Network so

it's been ten million dollars to judicial million dollars thank you so

much and that's the best song why are the Democrats hysterical but the

justices network watching their flank that's why I made it makes sense maybe

you guys just want them to be you know unilateral disarmament yeah the left

wants Republicans to go into this confirmation fights all without offering

any defense of this candidate of this judicial nominee they have made this

about legislating from the bench because that's what they're that that's what

they want the court to do they want at the court to legislate new rights under

the Constitution that the framers never intended Richard Blumenthal I want to

share something with you saw that he said today I could not believe what I

was hearing in the snarly way that he said it let's watch judge Kavanagh

you don't belong in this building as a justice my colleagues should be a no on

this nominee unless judge Kavanaugh specifically commits that he will recuse

himself on any issues that involve president Trump's personal financial

dealings or this special counsel okay so explain that one for us please well

there's absolutely no basis for it there's no basis in ethics or history

for the concept that you can't rule on a case involving a president if he

happened to have appointed you now Rehnquist if you recall recused

himself from the Watergate tapes case but that's because he was a member of

the Nixon administration and a high official in the Justice Department but

it's just ridiculous and you're going to hear more of this kind of stuff and

you're right Laura really I've got no problem with people opposing a judicial

candidate because they oppose his constitutional philosophy or her

constitutional philosophy but the Democrats don't want to play that game

because then they would have to admit in public hearings that really they believe

the court should just enshrine their notion of progressivism

into the Constitution they really can't win an argument based on textualism and

originalism and so they have to come up with these phony issues and and that's

what you're gonna see and it's going to be very brutal and it's going to evolve

a lot of falsehoods and you know the Conservatives just have to Republicans

have to stay the course that's all else to it but so why shouldn't the Democrats

and the Republicans be even I asked about specific issues regarding his view

on roe v wade why shouldn't they be even asked about his views on immigration and

his prior cases that he's decided in the DC Circuit

that's not shenanigans that's doing real good cross-examination direct

examination to get a feel for what this next justice is going to be

that's not shenanigans at all that's real discussion to know what'll come

across Scott because Scott there's been a rule that's been followed for decades

that judicial candidates should not a pine on

something on a specific issue that may come before him or her and it's gone on

with both parties for at least the last 50 years and by the way I don't know a

lot of there's there's a lot of hypocrisy there's a lot of hypocrisy in

Washington but there's no area full of him more hypocrisy than judicial

selection as Laura pointed out when she quoted Schumer from judge Ginsburg

justice Ginsburg's nomination fight the party's totally changed positions

depending on whose ox is being gored about what you can ask now the fabulous

absolutely fair game it's absolutely fair game to get into questions of

judicial philosophy and you can find out a lot about a candidate when you do that

but it's not fair game to ask him how they're going to rule on what did judge

Cavanaugh say last night he said I will approach every case with an open mind an

independent view of the judiciary which i think is most people believe that's

what the court should be we don't want a court a Supreme Court that acts like

it's the super legislate legislature on these issues that Congress can't either

state state legislatures or the Congress can't get its act together on whether

it's immigration or any of these other social issues let those percolate up

through the states and be handled in due course you see after 45 years of Roe vs.

Wade the issue is not settled the country is still roiling over 50 million

babies being killed in the womb because of the sacrosanct right that was

emanating out of penumbra's in the Constitution that didn't work and I

think that's what the left wants to keep going didn't work I want to play one

more thing for you Scott though one more thing this was this was Feinstein on

Cavanaugh's view of the Second Amendment let's watch because the issue of gun

safety is so important to me I want to mention how extreme Cavanaugh's views

are in this area he argued in 2011 against Washington DC's ban because

weapons like AR 5th Dean's are in quote common use

Cavanaugh's views on the second amendment or straight out of the gun

lobby playbook again this is just this is the most why is the asshole way of

looking at case law do you know the case he's talking about the hello case yeah

okay do you know what Brett actually wrote in that case awareness my memory

but I've read the opinion several times okay he said our task is to apply the

Constitution we have the full screen and in precedence of the Supreme Court

regardless of whether the result is one we agree with as a matter of first

principles or policy that was the 2011 case following on from Heller he is

applying the Heller case he the fact that they're they don't like ar-15s

which are one of the most commonly owned guns in the United States long guns in

the United States that's fine California has rules against that but as a matter

of constitutional law Scott it's very different being than being a legislator

you conflate the issues no I think the branches of governor you I do too but

you conflate the issues in this regard if you're gonna be ruling on abortion

issues why should I not be able to ask you what are your professional feelings

or your thoughts on roe v wade what is your feelings don't matter as a judge

constitution matter okay his judicial philosophy so but already it's judicial

philosophy as well all I hear from those senators that they disagree with his

rulings why they disagree what his lower court rulings are writings of Ducks

that's all final word will he get confirmed yes or no do you think in the

end oh he'll definitely get confirmed but you know the real question about Roe

vs. Wade that he clearly can't be asked is I don't care what you thought about

Roe vs. Wade when it was decided in 1973 the question is whether or not it should

remain valid law if a case comes before the court and everyone would agree

that's just something you can't you can't ask somebody who's a judicial

nominee but I can't have to try to glean it from his writings right we got it we

can't prejudice future cases fantastic segment to both of you thank you so much

for thank you let's break this down with former law clerk to judge Cavanaugh and

also Justice Kennedy Justin Walker joins us that great to have you back with us

Justin thanks so much for having me all right so it's not just the abortion

issue I want to play a little bit more of what Minority Leader Nancy

Pelosi had to say today classes look some of the comments that justice

Kavanagh has made and others it is important to note that everything is at

risk roe v-- wade a woman's right to choose brown versus the Board of the

Education civil rights environmental issues gun safety the list goes on and

on all right so the positive there if you're supporting judge Cavanaugh she is

now referring to him as justice Cavanaugh but the downside there are all

of the things that are gonna go away including Brown v Board of Education

Justin oh my goodness you know I think it's important to put this mudslinging

in a little bit of perspective some of the very same groups that are

criticizing judge Cavanaugh right now they are out pro-choice America for

example criticized Ruth Bader Ginsburg when she was nominated to the court in

1993 they said she was insufficiently supportive of abortion rights number two

I think it's important to listen to people left right and center who were

open-minded and fair-minded about this just today President Obama's former

Solicitor General Don Verrilli called judge Cavanaugh a brilliant jurist and

the number three and finally I would point out for anyone who's wondering how

Judge Cavanaugh feels about precedents one of those presidents are Roe or any

other precedent just to read the book that he wrote along with twelve other

distinguished judges called the law of judicial precedents in which he says in

page after page and I'll tell you Shannon it's a thousand pages long he

says fidelity to precedent is important they should only be overturned in

extraordinary circumstances faithfulness to precedent encourages stability and

predictability and the rule of law yeah last time I looked around a thousand

page book it was law school and I don't think I'm gonna go back and read the

whole thing maybe some excerpts interesting though we've got a new Pew

poll out that talks about this idea of where people are with the Supreme Court

83% of people who responded said that they feel like it's the next person to

be chosen as either some what are very important to them they also said this

though about nominees being asked questions sixty-one percent of adults

overall said that if they're asked questions about hot-button issues like

issue like abortion they should have to answer those Justin what do you think

about that well that kind of answer by a just

judicial nominee would be somewhat unprecedented and I think many people

will consider to be unethical for a judge to prejudge a particular case or a

particular controversy until that judge has heard briefing from both sides and

argument and all those kinds of things so I expect that Judge Cavanaugh have

asked about specific cases will give the same response that Justice Ginsburg gave

Justice Breyer gave previous justices to the nominate and that is he can talk

about his approach to the law his general belief in the importance of

precedent his his desire to stick to the the text of a law and not impose his

personal ideology but I don't think it would be appropriate for him to say how

he would decide a certain case well there there's also a letter out today to

the Senate from more than 100 civil rights groups that have come together

and have said they are worried about his position on presidential power and

whether or not president should have to answer to criminal investigations while

they are in office they say that he lacks the requisite independence from

President Trump to serve as a much-needed check on his abuses of power

would he be an independent jurist judge Cavanaugh's 12-year record 300 opinions

demonstrate nothing but independence and fair-mindedness time and again he has

done what the law requires rather than imposing any kind of passion or

prejudice for a particular party and with response to that particular issue I

think it's important to look at what Judge Cavanaugh wrote he did not in any

way question the legality of an investigation very much like the kind of

investigation that Robert Moeller is conducting right now he wrote a law

review article about a legislative proposal but it was just that something

for Congress to consider not any kind of guidance about what courts should do and

those are two separate branches we should remind folks tonight all right

Justin Walker great to have you with us again

you

Lara Trump interviews Dinesh D'Souza on President Trump's Facebook Page - Duration: 1:09.

Trump: Dinesh, I'm so intrigued. This looks incredible.

Tell me about this film.

D'Souza: The movie is called "Death of a Nation." I'll have a book

of the same title coming out that week. It opens August 3 nationwide.

In a sense, the movie draws an analogy between Trump and Lincoln,

which may seem surprising, but I think the reason for it is that not since 1860

have the Democrats so fanatically refused to accept the result of a free election.

Also, the incivility of our environment today, the sheer savagery of it, I think Reagan,

had he lived now, would be really confused. Reagan lived in an era of gentleman's politics.

But one guy who would understand these roiled political waters is Lincoln,

because the political waters were even more roiled when he was running.

We draw, really, a lesson from Lincoln for President Trump, and show how

the Republican Party can live up to its own great tradition, the tradition of emancipation.

TRAITOR ALERT ,FIRST REPUBLICAN TO CALL FOR TRUMP IMPEACHMENT - Duration: 13:26.

TRAITOR ALERT ,FIRST REPUBLICAN TO CALL FOR TRUMP IMPEACHMENT

Why don't people see that the main reason why Hillary Clinton needed to win was to make

all of this stuff evaporate?

That is why she is fighting so hard to make President Donald J. Trump look bad.

By doing so, it provides a distraction from her crimes.

It is obvious that Russia became a concern to the left only because Hillary lost.

The Democrats along with some of the RINOs in Congress are afraid that they will get

exposed to what they did to hurt Trump and help Hillary win, so they blame Russia.

But, as we remember, Russia was given a "reset" button by Hillary and the Obama administration.

I wonder what changed so fast?

But even some treacherous Republicans jumped on that train and attacked President Trump!

Republican state representative Jason Villaballa (R-Dallas) published an op-ed in the Texas

Tribune this morning in which he became the first Republican lawmaker to publicly call

for Trump's impeachment.

You can read the full letter below.

In an open letter to Congress, State Rep. Jason Villalba wrote:

It's time to impeach the president

When I was ten years old, over a plate of rice, beans, and tortillas, I watched the

evening news in front of an old Emerson 19-inch tube TV.

On the screen was a man who looked like a grandpa, resembled the dad on "Father Knows

Best," and who spoke of a Shining City on the Hill — whatever that meant.

I didn't know who Ronald Reagan was at that time, but I knew he was an honorable man.

I knew that he cared for me and my family.

And I knew that even though I did not look like him, I wanted to be like him: fearless,

just, righteous — an American.

Ronald Reagan embodied for me what it meant to be a citizen of these great United States

of America.

We are a people who are strong yet compassionate, convicted yet tolerant, determined yet understanding.

I am a Republican today because of Ronald Reagan.

He instilled in me the principles that have guided my life, personally and politically.

I believe in fiscal conservatism, American exceptionalism, a moral rubric based on Judeo-Christian

values, and on a basic fealty to the essential standards set by our forefathers: truth, liberty,

self-sacrifice and basic goodness.

And yet, today, our own president of the United States mocks these basic tenets.

Since Donald J. Trump has been president, he alone has increased the national debt by

over $1 trillion.

Yes.

One trillion dollars.

The fastest any president in U.S. history has accrued that level of debt.

Our president has mocked and belittled our immigration laws, our intelligence agencies,

our foreign policy strategy and even the American people.

We have been called "stupid," "weak," "a joke" and "pathetic," all by our

own president.

Our president has reveled in sexually engaging with those actively trafficking in the pornography

industry and he has ridiculed those religious leaders who would deign to question him for

doing so.

He mocks and laughs at those Christians who would question him.

I was one of the only Republican elected officials in the country to plead with the American

voters to abandon this charlatan prior to his election.

For my transgressions, I was summarily unelected from the Texas Legislature.

I have no regrets.

I always do what I believe is right.

That is not politically expedient, but it helps me sleep at night.

But verily I say unto you today, if we do not stop this man now, today, over 500 days

into his presidency, we will be equally culpable in what he has planned for our great nation.

President Trump thinks you are a fool.

He believes you will never abandon him.

And he believes that there is almost nothing that he can do that would cause you to abandon

supporting him.

But what he doesn't know is that you are not a fool.

You, like me, are an American.

And no man will own your heart and mind like this president thinks he owns you.

Today is the day we take back our America.

Today is the day we say "NO" to anyone who revels in abusing those weaker than them

for political points.

Today is the day we stand up and fight for the American values that Reagan taught us:

truth, justice, peace, civility, comity and righteousness.

This is who we are.

Not the sordid, ugly, Trumpists who require anger and vitriol.

We have the clarity and focus to do what is right to make our communities better and stronger.

This is who we are — not the contorted caricature that the alt-right has created of us.

Today, we will stand with our better angels.

We will stand with those who seek to transcend the common detritus of the ordinary and become

citizens of that shining city on the hill that Reagan spoke of so long ago.

We are better than what this president suggests we are.

We eschew ugliness and divisiveness.

Donald J. Trump is no longer our leader.

It is time to push him into the ash bin of history.

Today, I ask you to impeach Trump.

A Republican lawmaker from Texas is calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump

over his "treasonous" meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, where Trump sided with

Russia over the U.S. intelligence community.

You can read his entire letter below.

In an open letter to Congress, State Rep. Jason Villalba wrote:

It's time to impeach the president

When I was ten years old, over a plate of rice, beans and tortillas, I watched the evening

news in front of an old Emerson 19-inch tube TV.

State Rep. Jason Villalba.

Trump and Putin is the beginning of the end of the deep state.

If you think the Democrats have behaved rabidly in the past, You ain't seen nothing yet.

Obama's entire presidency, especially the activities of his secretaries, are fixing

to get blown out of the water.

And this traitor is nothing more than a distraction!

Google fined, EU Japan signed, and Trump outcry (Tweets of the Week, Ep. 56) - Duration: 3:22.

Welcome to EU Tweets of the Week.

This week, Google hit with massive fine,

Japan and EU sign on the line

and Trump-Europe relationship in serious decline.

On Wednesday Europe's own Auntie Trust, Margrethe Vestager slapped Google

with a €4,34 billion fine

for abuses involving its Android mobile phone operating system.

American EU Dude asked "Does Android Scheme of Electric Search?"

Danny Kemp noted that Google has beaten...

Google to take the new record for an EU anti-trust fine.

Eric Maurice learned how to stand firm when interviewing a Commissioner

who slaps billion Euro fines on from reporter Ole Ryborg.

Lewis Croft noted that when asked, Vestager confirmed she is a woman and works with tax.

Nick Gutteridge said that when she's finished talking I fully intend to ask a question

about the variety of products in Brussels' vending machines

and what this tells us about EU competition law.

And Craig Winneker had to Google Bing.

The International Trade Department of the EU tweeted this AWESOME gif to announce they've

signed the Economic Partnership Agreement with Japan, the biggest-ever EU trade deal.

Jean-Claude Juncker and PM Abe Shinzo also announced reciprocal data adequacy.

"We are shaping global standards and upholding the fundamental right of data protection," said Juncker.

Omer Tene praised the deal but added that the center of the data privacy world

is shifting ever further from the US.

Time for Washington to act.

Shehab Khan pointed out that the UK is walking away from one of the largest

free trade deals in history covering nearly one third of the world's GDP.

While John Clark highlighted the textual differences with this stark image.

Finally it's Europe versus President Donald Trump this week as thousands of people

gathered to protest his arrivals in London and Helsinki.

Ana Navarro noted that Trump got a bigger crowd to protest him on foreign soil

than the one he got to attend his inauguration in America.

Mika Brzezinski loved that the Trump baby balloon even had

little hands holding a cell phone.

Talk about art imitating life.

Yup the Brits were not holding back.

Peter Grant pointed out that if you're offended by the baby blimp balloon

but you weren't offended when Trump mockingly impersonated someone with Cerebral Palsy,

you really do need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Comedian Frankie Boyle thinks Trump supporters are pretty angry about this giant baby balloon,

probably because it's not in a cage.

Richard Engel noted that a common theme at the London protests was Putin controlling Trump

and this was before Finland meeting.

And of course thousands protested in Helsinki as well, as Sampo Sauri reported.

And the blimp image made another appearance.

But despite everything, Donald Tusk stresses that America and the EU are best friends.

Whoever says we are foes is spreading fake news.

This week we are supported by Acumen Public Affairs.

Check out their timeline for preparation ahead of the EU elections next year @AcumenPA.

And that's it for this week.

Join guest host Haley Broughton next week for more protests and bro-fests

in the Brussels Bubble Twittersphere.

And I'm back again in September.

Happy holidays!

Trump rejects Putin offer to allow Russians to question Americans - Duration: 1:49.

U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to allow

Russian authorities to question U.S. citizens.

The offer was made during a summit between the two leaders, where, in return, Putin offered

to allow American investigators access to 12 Russians who were indicted for meddling

in the 2016 U.S. elections.

For more on this and other news around the world we turn to our Ro Aram…

Aram… yet another turnaround from Trump….

That's right Mark…

During the Helsinki summit, Trump said Putin had made what he called an "incredible offer."

The idea that Trump was open to allowing Russian investigators question U.S. citizens for "unspecified

crimes" sparked outrage.

Following bipartisan criticism, the White House said in a statement on Thursday that

Trump now disagrees with Putin's offer.

The day before, it said Trump was considering the proposal.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders added that Washington hopes Putin will have

the 12 Russians, indicted for U.S. election meddling, come to the U.S. to prove their

innocence or guilt.

The Russians reportedly want to question financier Bill Browder, a Putin critic who played a

key part in the U.S. imposing sanctions on top Russian officials six years ago for corruption.

Another person on Russia's radar is Michael McFaul, who was the U.S. ambassador to Moscow

under Barack Obama and also a Putin critic.

The Senate, meanwhile, unanimously approved a resolution in a 98 to 0 vote, opposing Moscow's

questioning of U.S. citizens.

Also on Thursday, the White House said Trump directed his national security adviser, John

Bolton, to invite Putin to Washington in the autumn.

Stephen Kinzer's Thoughts on Trump's Iran Policy - Duration: 1:23.

The temptation of trying to support the idea of American involvement in Iran is

a path to disaster. I speak as the author of that book, All the Shah's Men, about the

history of the U.S. overthrow of Mossadegh in 1953. I also speak as one

who has watched what has happened in countries near Iran after the U.S.

intervened. Look at Afghanistan, look at Iraq, look at Syria, look at Libya. That is

the future of Iran if the United States intervenes there. Bear in mind that the

United States, like all countries, pursues its own interests in the world. It is not

seeking a regime in Iran that will defend legitimate Iranian interests. The

people of Iran are working and I believe it's a wonderful thing to try to promote

change in Iran, I'm all for that. But inviting the United States in is a

recipe for disaster. Listen to the cries of history. In the name of Cyrus and

Darius. In the name of Saudi and Hafez and Ferdowsi. In the name of Mohammad

Mossadegh, do not invite a foreign power to come in and try to shape the future

of this great country
