States I know it's a great sacrifice for

you to be away from your families but I

want you to know that every American

family is eternally grateful to you and

we're holding you closer to our hearts

thoughts and prayers we're all praying

Force Base in Guam I want to welcome the

soldiers of Task Force Talon

Lieutenant Colonel Johannes Castro I

understand that as part of the unit's

asset protection responsibilities Task

Force Talent played a critical role in

securing of protecting assets and

personnel when typhoon tutu struck

earlier this year I heard it was a big

one one of the biggest that was one of

the strongest storms evident hit a u.s.

territory in fact and we want to thank

you for the incredible work everybody's

talking about it they're all very

grateful so thank you for that

incredible work I also want to welcome

the Marines from attack squadron 223

known as the great American Bulldogs

your squadron faced adversity before

deploying when hurricane Florence struck

your home base at Cherry Point yet the

Bulldogs were ready to go and within 48

hours of arriving in Bahrain

to squadron with flying combat missions

you were back very quickly since then

you delivered thousands of pounds of

ordnance against Isis Lieutenant Colonel

Weinmann these achievements are a

lasting credit to the unstoppable

tenacity of the Bulldogs and I just want

to thank you all that was a great job

you've done and I know it's a great job

you will be doing for a long time thank

you very much appreciate it

joining us from Bahrain is Captain

Benjamin Allbritton chief of staff of

naval forces Central Command captain the

fifth fleet in our combined maritime

forces strike fear into the adversaries

by projecting the awesome strength of

American power our mighty naval forces

are unrivaled anywhere in the world not

even close and as you know with our new

and very very increased military budgets

we're building you more ships we're

building a lot of different things for

all of our forces seven hundred and

sixteen billion dollars so I know you're

very happy that's a lot of good

equipment and you see it coming already

we're also pleased to welcome the three

hundred and seventy ninth Air

Expeditionary wing from the United

States Air Force the 379th

is the largest expeditionary air wing

anywhere in the world performing tens of

thousands of daring missions every year

in fact the 379th flies nearly 20% of

all daily sorties and dispenses more

fuel than any of you think of it of the

next five Air Force bases combined

that's a big operation Brigadier General

Jason Armacost is the commanding officer

and I want to say Merry Christmas to you

and the airmen of the guard and the say

at the Grand Slam wing and it is exact

when I look at your work it truly is a

grand

slam wing it's great job fellas we

really appreciate in folks finally

joining us from Juneau Alaska are the

men and women of the Coast Guard

district 17 lieutenant Matthew speedo is

the senior Coast Guard officer on call

in the last year district 17 has saved

265 lives assisted more than 600 others

in distress conducted 275 pollution

responses 156 law enforcement boardings

and saved nearly 20 million dollars of

property district 17 proves that the

United States Coast Guard is always

ready and I've been saying about the

Coast Guard when I was in Texas I've

never seen anything like it they save

thousands of lives

the Coast Guard is very special and if

there was ever a score or branding I

think the Coast Guard in this country

would have probably increased by the

highest score of any group I'm talking

about businesses I'm talking about

anything the branding of the cup because

of what you did in the Hurricanes in

Texas and in Florida and in Puerto Rico

all over you were incredible we want to

thank you very much it was a great job

to every service member listening and to

those standing watch all around the

world it is because of your service and

your courage and your willingness to be

away from the ones you love that

American families can celebrate at home

and safety and in peace it's an

incredible thing you do you're

incredible people on behalf of the First

Lady and the entire Trump family we

John how is it going in Guam how are

things going I've heard it's an

incredible place in terms of a military

operation

two people are terrific that you work

with but how is it doing in Guam

actually that's something we train for

and maintain as part of our readiness I

know when I first became president the

supplies on Guam were very low what are

the first things I heard about they were

really low in terms of virtually every

aspect of supply and now I know years

stocked up to the brim is that correct

absolutely mr. president well but it is

true is pretty low for a period of time

right you had a lot of empty buildings

we fill them up fast yeah thanks a lot

John I appreciate it great job great job

how's it going great sir I'd like to

wish you Merry Christmas on behalf of

the 7,000 men and women at Al Udeid Air

Base here in Doha Qatar and the Mission

Continues we are working

24/7 365 on providing Global Strike

intelligence surveillance and

reconnaissance airlift and cargo and

tanker operations including a defensive

space control as well across the

entirety of CENTCOM keeps us busy but we

are one of the strategic locations that

goes Afghanistan Iraq and Syria every

day and the airmen are proud to do so we

also jointly operate here with soldiers

sailors Marines in 28 coalition partners

as part of the K Ock for command and

control so it's a fascinating operation

but we have taken the time to wish merry

christmas' back to you and the people

the United States so how are they doing

in Qatar how are they doing getting

together with Saudi Arabia and UAE and

what's what's the latest word you

probably know better than anybody but

maybe I shouldn't be asking you that

question how are they doing getting

together

do you see anything any signs of hope

well sir I will say that from within

qatar as a host they are fantastic they

take good care of us they burden share

with us they're helping us to improve

our infrastructure and really make this

kind of a crown jewel of a base I you

know we don't track necessarily the

political followings of Saudi Arabian

UAE with regards to Qatar but I will

tell you they're fantastic hosts there

they're great to us and it's a it's a

it's a fascinating place to work and

operate from well that's true it is a

great place that it's an incredible base

as I understand it and we'll get out to

see you one day and thank you very much

fantastic job

I would say know what that no other time

in our history are we more United in our

operations together here in the Central

Command area we also work with our Air

Force brothers and sisters and how you

deed to execute our strategy here in

sitcom is absolutely seamless and you

mentioned your opening about airplanes

and ships and everything else but I'll

tell you the real secret factor to our

success or our people

magnificent sailors like is one Riley

sitting next to me sergeant major Bauer

the commitment they have on a daily

basis to execute the mission is amazing

and that's the real x-factor and that's

what sets our course apart from any

other force in the world well that's

true and I know you do have great

equipment to being sent there but

there's nothing like the personnel you

have to have people to use it plenty of

people have good equipment only if they

buy from us because we have the best

equipment we make the best equipment but

I can tell you this that nobody can use

it like us that's one thing we've seen

and we know it very well we study it

nobody uses it like us so I just want to

thank you please go ahead from sergeant

especially our families that are back

home homes on the floor they very very

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays I can

tell you sir in your opening you talked

about hurricane Florence and what that

would affect that ad on my unit and I

can tell you all these Marines out here

that are doing these loading these Jets

getting them ready for flight every day

I work them are at 24/7 every single day

of the week and they've done a fantastic

job we couldn't do that without the

American people especially our families

my wife Aminah and sergeant majors wife

Shelly and all the families of 223 they

had our back and they are literally

repairing our homes as we speak

at over 10 whole families to sleep

completely destroyed and it is just a

really representative what link or what

the United States military is all about

coming together came together at the

command and really got got the job done

so it's just my pleasure to be here

serving well that's great and with

Bahrain and with Qatar

six different ways of pronouncing that

from Qatar to Qatar right there's many

many ways of pronouncing it all of them

are acceptable I've said well which one

I guess maybe they like me they say you

could say it anywhere you want but you

know I'm asking them for a lot more

money than they've been paying over the

years for burden-sharing

and those are examples those are two

countries that have the money it's

unlimited money and we're asking them to

put up a lot of money and they're happy

to do it because we're performing a

service like nobody in the world could

perform we're keeping them safe but we

don't want to be subsidizing rich

countries at the disadvantage to us so

that makes me a little bit different

than any other president because nobody

used to ask these questions and if you

look at what's been happening over the

years over many many years over decades

it's rather ridiculous so that's all

changing and that's all good for us so I

just see I'm gonna have two perfect

examples we have Qatar and we have

Bahrain you don't get much wealthier and

they're agreeing to do a lot more than

they've ever done and we're gonna max

out and that'll be good it'll be good

that'll be great for our services it'll

be nice where we can ask for a lot less

money for our military because we're

right now the policeman of the world and

we're paying for it and we can be the

policemen of the world but other

countries have to help us and I think

everybody up there agrees so thank you

very much from Bahrain that's great I

love to see you getting together like

you are you've been together for a long

time you're two groups and you've had a

lot of victories I have flags in the

Oval Office with a lot of stripes from

the Army the Navy the Air Force the

Marines and the Coast

and they all have ribbons I don't know

if the cameras can show you but they all

have some in some cases hundreds of

ribbons from victories we only put up

the victories but we'll only have

victories but we only talk about the

victories so thank you all very much

that's fantastic now we'll go to the

coast guard and we just ordered a Coast

Guard Cutter the an icebreaker

the likes of which nobody's seen before

the bad part is the price the good part

is it's the most powerful in the world

and it can go just about anywhere the

ISIS in big trouble when that when that

thing gets finished it'll go right

through it but it's very expensive but

that's okay we have to get the best but

you folks are gonna be very proud of it

because you've seen it I'm sure it's a

it's a new design highest technology but

with all of the technology it still

needs very thick steel when you get

right down to it right it can be good

technology but you need thick steel it's

like the border wall we still need a

wall they can have all the drones they

want flying up in the air and spinning

around and all the technology in the

world and so I call it bells and

whistles but if you don't have the

wallet does it work with the ice

breakers you need a lot of Steel in

those hulls and you have it it's maxed

out and it's gonna be incredible and

you'll get it fairly soon we gave out

the contract and that's for the Coast

Guard so that's a little Christmas

president we'll call it a Christmas

present to the Coast Guard and thank you

Christmas on behalf of district 17 and

all the Coast Guard surrounded here by

some of our watch standers that stand

duty at sector Juneau at the Coast Guard

district and also some of the station

crews that operate out of small boat

station in Juneau and we're just here

and we're ready for any unplanned events

that could be occurring whether it's

search-and-rescue

environmental pollution law enforcement

or any marine safety issues that might

pop up so far we've had a calm day here

in Alaska and we hope that it stays that

way and people stay safe out there on

the waters so how did you do in Alaska

with the recent problem we had with the

big I was a big quake they say we got

lucky very few people hurt nobody died

and it was big it hit it hit the proper

location I guess we have to say how did

you do with it were you involved much

well in Juneau Alaska we we did not get

much of the experience of the earthquake

but some of our members in Anchorage

they did sustained some structural

damage to some of the the buildings

there but luckily there was no injuries

to any of the personnel and everybody

seems to be doing okay things are coming

along quite well we got lucky there was

a really big one but it hit a area that

I guess we were lucky that day things

get a little bit lucky well I want to

wish everybody a really Merry Christmas

a Happy New Year

just remember the people in our country

were very proud of you the country is

doing well we have a little bit of a

shutdown because we believe in walls and

we believe in borders and we believe in

barriers and you know we have a special

country people have to come in through

the legal process not just walk in we

have no idea who they are and we're

stopping drugs at a record rate but we

need some help and the help is the wall

we need a wall to help us otherwise they

just flow through no matter what you do

they just flow through you people know

that better than anybody I know that two

of your groups actually built some very

effective walls and the military built

some very effective walls for me over

the last four weeks on the southern

border and we've held them we had

caravans of people coming up you've been

seeing it and we stopped them we stopped

them cold and they're heading back for

the most part they're heading back or

they're staying in Mexico but I will I

will tell you I know the work you do and

it's been amazing and it's great I will

see you all I know I'll meet you all

I'll see you all but on behalf of the

country Merry Christmas Happy New Year

keep doing the job we're all very proud

of you nobody can do what you do nobody

and we're very proud of you and it's my

honor to send you all that brand-new

equipment whether you get the planes or

the ships or the rifles or any any of

the things you get you're getting the

best in the world we're even doing a

little change in some of the uniforms to

put it mildly right some of the uniforms

I hope you all like them it's gonna mean

you have to be in perfect shape to wear

those uniforms that's one thing but

probably that's good but that's a big

change hasn't been done in 50 years and

we're buying the new uniforms they're

gonna be incredible you know what I'm

talking about right general I see you so

they're raising interest rates too fast

that's my opinion but I shouldn't have

confidence but I think it'll straighten

they're raising interest rates too fast

because they think the economy's out

there but I think that they will get it

I mean the fact is that the economy is

doing so well that they raised interest

rates and that's in the form of safety

the way President Obama didn't do much

of that much easier to run when you have

no interest where we had a very low

interest rate we had a normalized

interest rate I normalized interest rate

means a lot you know it's good for a lot

of people they have money in the bank to

get interest of their money so many

years nobody got interest on their money

so but I have great confidence and I

have great confidence in our companies

we have companies the greatest in the

world and they're doing really well they

have record kinds of numbers so I think

it's a tremendous opportunity to buy

really a great opportunity I can't tell

you where the government's gonna be open

I can tell you it's not gonna be open

until we have a wall offense whatever

they'd like to call it al coholic

whatever they will but it's all the same

thing it's a barrier from people pouring

into our company into our country from

drugs it's a barrier from drugs it's a

very you know there's a problem in this

world today called human trafficking

human trafficking is one of the hard to

believe problems and we're not gonna let

that take place we're not gonna we are

working so hard to catch these

traffickers they're bad people you can't

do it without a barrier we can't do it

without a wall so you have drugs you

have human trafficking

you have illegal people coming into our

country we can't do that

no they are in the caravan 618 people

were very bad in some cases grumman's

wanted for verdict you saw the one man

he said he was wanted for murder I don't

want them in the country

the only way you're gonna do it is to

have a physical barrier meaning the wall

and if you don't have that then what is

not opening yesterday came out a hundred

and fifteen miles worth of wall 115

miles in Texas and it's going to be

built

hopefully rapidly I'm going there at the

end of January for the start of

construction that's a big stretch

because we're talking about 500 to 550

miles so it's a 2,000 mile border but

much of it has mountains and region

where you can't get across so we're

looking at between 500 and 550 so he

gave out 115 yesterday and we gave it

out into great price so we're gonna have

Greg wall there and we have other

sections to give up one other thing

people don't understand or know or

whatever but they might as well as cuz

they're not really tall we've renovated

massive amounts of very good wall wall

that was good but was in bad shape and

so you don't have to replace it but you

have to renovate it and we've renovated

a massive amount of wall and in addition

to that and I think very very

importantly we built a lot of new wall

so it's all being built the new piece

the new section is very very exciting

what's going on there and you'll see it

because in January I'm going there we're

almost having a groundbreaking it's such

a big section it's probably the biggest

biggest section we'll get out so while

we're fighting over funding we're also

building and it's my hope to have this

done completed all 500 to 550 miles to

have it either renovated or brand new by

election time

different people different people highly

bid because we're giving 25 billion

dollars it's already approved but that's

for everything that's for Homeland

Security that includes as we say the

bells and whistles we have a lot of

drones a lot of everything in there plus

we have some wall money but we want the

wall money to be increased because I

want to finish it but what people have

to understand it has been strongly

started a lot of areas if you look at

San Diego it's now almost complete and

interestingly its California which has

been difficult to deal with because of

the the governor very very difficult to

deal with but the people of San Diego

came and they wanted the wall bill in

fact I was going to build it last but

then I determined to us build it they

really wanted it built because if I

built at last it all be screaming for a

wall and you don't hear that but the

wall is beautiful the job they've done

is fantastic so San Diego is largely

built it'll be completed very shortly

but they came to us the people and they

were asking they needed border

protection people people will walk in

through Mexico right into San Diego

right over people's front lawns by the

hundreds and by the thousands and they

came to us they asked for a wall the

only thing that's gonna stop that a

drone isn't gonna stop hi technology's

not gonna stop but the only thing that

stops it's a wall and when the Democrats

talked about a wall doesn't mean

anything well in Israel they had a big

problem they put up a wall 99.99% of the

people were stopped from coming in and

will have the exact same thing

and we have a long long water but we'll

have the exact same thing now there may

be the case of an Olympic champion who

can get over the wall but for the most

part it's you you're not able to do it

very high it's gonna be 30 feet much of

it is 30 feet high some of its lower but

in some areas we have it as high as 30

feet that side that's like a three-story

building so we're making great progress

on renovation on fixing and we're making

great progress on building new wall and

most excitingly we gave out our largest

section yesterday and that work is

starting next week and will haven't

completed fairly quickly they understand

what's happening they want border

security the people of this country want

border security it's not a question of

me I'd rather not be doing shutdowns

I've been at the White House and I love

the White House but I wasn't able to be

with my family I thought it would be

wrong for me to be with my family

my family's in Florida Palm Beach and I

just didn't want to go down and be there

when other people are hurting but it's

gonna all work out but many of those

workers have said to me and communicated

stay out until you get the funding for

the wall these federal workers want the

wall the only one that doesn't want the

wall are the Democrats because they

don't mind open borders but open borders

mean massive amounts of crime I mean the

Democrats don't want it because they

don't want open borders and yet every

one of those Democrats approved the wall

or offense or very very substantial

barriers every single one I don't think

is one but let's assume let's use the

word almost everyone approved a wall or

a fence or exactly what we're talking

about as little as three years ago but

over the years every one of them the

only time they went against it the only

time they went against it there was only

one time when Donald Trump said

want to build the wall as soon as I said

I want to build the wall they were all

against it it's like take another

example take Comey everybody hated Comey

they thought he did a horrible job the

Democrats hated him they were calling

for his resignation they were going for

his firing including Schumer including

Nancy Pelosi until I fired him

and once I fired him everybody said oh

why did you fire him why did you fire

take a look at some of these people this

is what we're doing now take a look at

some of these people literally the day

before I fire them they were saying you

should be fired as soon as I fired him

they said Oh what did you fire before

that was terrible thing to do it's a

disgrace what's happening in our country

but other than that I wish everybody a

very Merry Christmas thank you very much

thank you and hopefully we're making

progress on the funding of the wall or

berry or whatever you want to call

harassment no collusion after two years

no collusion there has been collusion

but it's been by the Democrats but

there's been no collusion and you're

talking about millions and billions and

millions of dollars of wasted money

there's been absolutely no collusion but

there has been a lot of collusion by the

Democrats with Russia and with a lot of

other people that maybe they shouldn't

have been dealing with including very

dishonest people thank you very much

Donald Trump visits US Army troops in Iraq with wife Melania - News Live - Duration: 3:52.

 Donald Trump has landed in Iraq for a surprise Christmas visit to US troops, alongside his wife Melania

 It is Trump's first visit to US troops overseas since becoming president.  Trump and first lady Melania Trump met with military personnel on Wednesday at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq, according to photos from Reuters

 He has made the trip despite the US Government being shutdown over a budget impasse as Trump holds out for $5bn in funding for a border wall

 Trump recently announced that US troops would be withdrawing from Syria, a decision which prompted his Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis to resign

 He also said about half the troops in Afghanistan would be heading home.  Today Trump said he has "no plans at all" to remove US troops from the country

 "If we see something happening with ISIS that we don't like, we can hit them so fast and so hard they really won't know what the hell happened," Trump said, according to Bloomberg

 "We've knocked them silly."  He added, referring to the withdrawal of troops, "It's time for us to start using our head

 "We don't want to be taken advantage of anymore by countries that use us."  Air Force One was spotted over Europe today which prompted speculation a visit overseas was on the cards but the visit was only confirmed after he touched down

 When asked about the shutdown today the Republican president said: "Nancy (incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi) is calling the shots

"  He added: "The American public is demanding a wall."  White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted: "President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Iraq late on Christmas night to visit with our troops and Senior Military leadership to thank them for their service, their success, and their sacrifice and to wish them a Merry Christmas

"  Veteran White House correspondent for CBS Mark Knoller reported that Air Force One was boarded in privacy in the hangar and departed under cover of darkness

 "All on board instructed to pull down window shades and surrender cell phones," he tweeted

 Journalists who travelled with the president were not allowed to report on the visit until more than two hours after they landed

 National Security Advisor John Bolton is also in Iraq for the visit.  Trump had tweeted that he was "alone" in the White House on Christmas Eve and sent of a barrage of tweets

 His silence since late on Christmas Day sparked questions about his movements.  He cancelled a Christmas trip to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida shortly after it became clear a deal would not be reached over the budget and the government would be shutdown

 Visiting troops abroad is a tradition for presidents. President George W. Bush served Thanksgiving turkey to the soldiers in Baghdad in 2003, in the early days of the Iraq War

 During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly promised Mexico would pay for his proposed wall

 After Mexico repeatedly refused to do so, he began seeking US taxpayer funding for the wall, which he sees as vital to controlling illegal immigration

 Even with both chambers of Congress and the White House under Republican control for the past two years, former real estate developer Trump has not gained full funding for his wall

 An eight-year-old Guatemalan boy died in Border Patrol custody on Christmas Day, the second death of a young migrant in such circumstances in a month

President Donald Trump moved forward with policies aimed at preventing catastrophic

wildfires while the media breathlessly covered the government funding battle.

Trump issued an executive order Friday to allow for active management of forest and

rangelands, including thinning and removing debris from millions of acres of federal lands.

The order also calls on federal officials to streamline regulations and permitting processes

to allow the harvest of at least 3.8 billion board feet from U.S. Forest Service lands

and 600 million board feet from Bureau of Land Management lands.

This order will result in a massive increase in timber sales from federals lands.

Big surprise to note that heavy, government "environmental" regulation resulted in

out-of-control wildfires.

Liberal regulations meant to "protect" the environment—limiting how many trees

could be cut down—directly resulted in massive wildfires.

Wildfires that meant the destruction of nature, wildlife, and human settlements.

Once again, we see that big government causes more problems than they solve.

And, once again, we see that Donald Trump is the only person in Washington actually

trying to help Americans.

This executive order both helps prevent future wildfires and gives a big boost to an American

industry.

Christmas Eve wonderful to see you both let's talk a little bit about the timeline this

is what Mick Mulvaney had to say and I think was Fox News Sunday Senate went into recess

until at least Thursday that doesn't mean it beat before Thursday till we get here something

back but I don't think things are going to move very quickly here for the next couple

days he's talking about the next couple days could we see things

potentially stretch into a week potentially several weeks Robin what do you think you

know I honestly do yeah I'm generally a glass has pulled a half-full kind of guy but I think

this is gonna take a while and you know we've we've given part of the way on this deal but

it's not anywhere near the five billion dollars that President Trump wants I think we're gonna

have to meet somewhere in the middle I suspect that we're gonna get a deal on a border fence

if you notice the president's most recent language is saying that also and I think that

that might appease some Democrats because look we were for the secure Fence Act in 2006

on a bipartisan manner I think we can make progress there Molly well it's interesting

you bring that up

there's been a lot of talk about semantics whether if they can just slide wall out of

the documents that are being passed and forth they could come to some sort of compromise

what do you think Kevin it is that the compromise that will have to happen and once things slide

into this new year will Democrats hold out until Nancy Pelosi steps in yeah we're not

gonna have any negotiations at any real negotiations I think itself she's uh she's sworn in on

January 3rd and and she can you know get the approval of the new members that she's gotten

her caucus that are very obviously left-leaning and are not going allow her to do any negotiating

with the White House on this whatsoever at some point though she's gonna have to stand

up to her base and say look we can't shut the government down indefinitely

forever for what we're talking about here is just a few billion dollars it's it's not

you know this isn't gonna solve the problem of all border security but at the end of the

day what are we talking about we're talking about a few billion dollars especially between

the 1 and the 5 I mean it's a keep the government shut down forever for that I mean it's it's

not much and it seems like we're talking a lot about wording as well there's a fairly

new statement here from leader Pelosi and Schumer on the Trump shut down as they you

know as we'll talk about branding and which sides to blame it says Christmas Eve and prison

Trump is plunging the country into chaos the

stock market tanking in the president waging a personal war on the Federal Reserve after

he just fired the Secretary of Defense instead of bringing certainty into people's lives

he's continuing the Trump shutdown just to please right ring radio and TV host meanwhile

different people from the White House are saying different things about what the president

would accept or not accept to end the Trump shutdown so they're really billing this as

the Trump shutdown but once Nancy Pelosi steps in and begins to take over then does the blame

shift a little bit what are the what would the American people think if this goes on

for too long Robin you know honestly it's that's that's a great

question because it's gonna be our problem and you know we just gained 40 seats in the

house that's great but if we don't actually get progress and get work done we're not going

to be able to keep those seats headed into 2020 and 2020 is gonna look not so great for

us presidentially if we can't actually deliver and get work done that's going to require

us to work across the aisle and start giving these Americans some of these reforms that

they want that's how Trump came into office because he was the anti politician so we've

got to get our head the message through our thick heads as Democrats that we've got to

work across the aisle and get something done Molly here's what one Democrat had to say

senator dick durbin take a listen the president just a few days ago said he was proud to author

a shutdown of his own government that he was elected to be the commander in chief and chief

executive it really is in the president's hands to decide he says it's an issue of border

security I think we know better it's an issue of his own political insecurity political

insecurity you know this is something that going back and forth that they have often

targeted the president as being and calling him a toddler that sort of thing that sort

of language being used political insecurity that this is a bone that's being thrown to

the right what do you think Kevin what

do you think that's the sort of language that's being used as we work towards potentially

you know we would hope a solution that's Democrat spin look the border being insecure it's a

problem that goes back and it's too blunt and both parties are to blame for going back

20 years or more I think you know this is a symbolic issue we're talking about a few

billion dollars to to start some some serious structure at the border whatever you want

to call it but the either the American people have lost faith in both sides of Congress

because neither has done anything on it and both have played political games with it I

would argue that you know there was a real shot in 2005 when Democrats were supporting

border security for instance to get a real compromise done on it and

they they bailed on it and they took the issue and they thought it was good politics and

they've run out of ever since and to some extent they've they've continued to win on

it until 2016 with President Trump brought the issue up or then candidate Trump brought

the issue to the to the American people and actually won on it when nobody thought it

was possible so now it's a mainstream Republican issue but look we're gonna have to get security

at the border there's a reason why there's 1520 million people in this country illegally

they got here somehow and some of its coming over the border you need to stop that border

you got to stop the drugs you've got to stop the smuggling so yeah the shutdown will be

watching certainly

and then the coming days potentially into the week following and who and who knows how

long really but that border issue we'll be watching for a much longer time have a feeling

want to start with you it looks like the White House has come down quite a bit it looks like

they're offering around two and a half instead of five for fencing and some security is that

gonna play for Chuck Schumer I hope it doesn't according to Chuck Schumer won't play he said

he's not Trump is not getting a wall and I hope if the Democrats can stick to that then

know hopefully alone they already received billions of dollars in the 2016-2017 budget

for border upgrades they don't need this this is about a campaign promise it's not about

border security yep Liz you know the Democrats say that they don't want the wall the wall

does not work but they're willing to spend money on border

security what what is it that they want to try to secure the border that hasn't been

tried before I'm not quite sure I don't know what anyone knows what's going on I think

most of this for the Democrats is just theatrics you could think about in the past 40 years

Congress has only been able to pass the federal appropriations bill one time in four instances

and so when they didn't do that essential government services continued on here we have

Democrats once again willing to shut down our government all in the name of illegal

immigration it doesn't make any sense especially when you consider that people

they're really hurting furloughed government employees statistically more often than not

are Democrats they're not Republicans yes Jonathan now I want to ask you this you know

there's there's a lot of numbers thrown around about the cost of illegal immigration in this

country the president puts a number at like 200 million a year or I'm sorry 200 billion

a year a lot of people say that's grossly inflated but even moderate modest estimates

are in the billions the Democrats right now are really angry over spending five billion

dollars but they ignore the billions that that illegal immigration costs this

country is it fairly obvious to you that this is just about not having a wall and not letting

the president win here well again like I said in the 2016-17 budget they were given bill

of dollars they I think they spent what about six percent of it to upgrade the security

at the border so again I I don't think his concern is about security I think it's about

going back to all these rural parts of the country and going look see I told you I was

gonna get the wall look I'm so strong I can negotiate but instead he's not wanting to

upgrade the fencing that we already have in some of the existing security measures we

already have so I to me it's it's far more about that than

anything else in the idea of blaming the shutdown on the Democrats when Trump clearly said earlier

this month that he would be proud to shut down the government would take full responsibility

for it is absurd yeah Liz same question to you do you think that this the Democrats really

care this much about five billion dollars or is this about making a political point

I think it's about making a political point and to be clear there's nothing wrong we should

want candidates who uphold their campaign pledges once they're in office that's what

President Trump said he was gonna do that's what

he's going to do so as far as I'm concerned when the Democrats say that this isn't a good

use of taxpayers time or money I think that's absurd having strong borders is very important

and there are 11 million illegal immigrants in this country right now the most important

thing that we can focus on to secure in our southern border Liz right back to you real

quick do you think a deal gets done and then what do you think it looks like well incoming

acting chief of staff said that we could expect for this to carry only well in 2019 I'm thinking

somewhere between a third or the fourth week of January we should see a break but I think

the president is

gonna hold strong and commit to making sure that we get funding for the border okay and

Jonathan to you last word I I hope they don't I hope the Democrats stay firm on this and

I hope that Trump is forced to back down on this there's quite a bit of things we could

do in this country with five billion dollars from education infrastructure it's not about

a border wall this is about him trying to keep a promise to his voters that should have

How The US War With Iran Was Supposed To Go | Syria 20 - Duration: 6:12.

Hey there.

So this is how the US's next multi trillion dollar war was supposed to start, and this

is also how the next couple decades were supposed to go.

At some point in the 2030s or 2020s, or even 2019 a whole bunch of American soldiers were

supposed to die.

That's what the US presence in Syria is all about, and that's why US soldiers were

permanently stationed there in 2017.

To die.

Seriously.

That's the policy here.

Nobody has come out and said it directly, but folks from John Bolton to Mike Pompeo

have made it very clear.

Let me connect the dots…

As of last week The US troops were intended to be in Syria until Iran and Assad are not.

As the past 7 years have made very clear, those guys aren't going anywhere without a

full on invasion.

And a whole bunch of dead US soldiers is what Washington DC needs to launch that invasion.

It doesn't have to be all 2 to 4000 of the Americans , just a couple hundred would do

the trick.

Could be a spare missile from Iran or Russia, or maybe a concerted attack from Hezbollah

or some other militia.

Whatever.

Dead Americans will give Washington DC's morons what they need to start the US's final war

in the Middle East.

Now we haven't even begun paying for their last multi-trillion dollar disasters yet.

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan represent a solid quarter to a third of US national

debt.

So no matter how much MSNBC or FOX News may fantasize about invading Iran, we can't afford

that sort of thing anymore.

No the US War with Iran will be fought over the massed corpses of hundreds of thousands

more dead Syrians and Iraqis.

The first month or so will go great.

US Defense contractors will make hundreds of billions.

Chickenhawks from Jake Tapper to Max Boot will get exactly the sorts of images that

they think US power is made of.

Everyone wearing an Iranian uniform in Iraq or Syria will be slaughtered, and only a few

tens of thousands more innocent civilians will die in the crossfire.

Assad and his whole family will die horribly in the streets, and whatever sociopath is

US President at that point will congratulate everyone for a job well done.

Then the second month will start.

Against Washington DC's predictions, the Iranian people will strangely fail to turn friendly

after we kill all their sons in Syria.

Iran's president Rouhani and anybody else who ever tried to negotiate with the US will

probably get the Assad treatment.

Iran will finally become the massive state sponsor of terrorism the US has always claimed

it was.

If there is anything left of the Iraqi government it will turn against us as well.

The moderate rebels in Syria who failed to get together to fight Assad will definitely

unify to fight the US occupiers.

Sunni and Shia, Arab and Kurd and even Turk, everyone will get together to kill US soldiers.

Millions of civilians will die to kill tens thousands of those US soldiers.

By the first year we should be at Vietnam levels of casualties.

The horror show will almost certainly spread to Lebanon, Jordan and other countries.

The EU will finally splinter completely under refugee flows that will dwarf those the US

created in 2015.

The world will fall to pieces as the US President feebly shouts at everybody that this is all

Iran's fault.

At some point the madness will stop, not because World War 3 will start, but because China,

Japan, and what's left of Europe will finally stop buying US debt.

Forced to choose between Medicare and baby boomer power fantasies the US public will

go with Medicare.

The US empire will evaporate.

Our military forces will pull out of the Middle East, and then fiscal realities will require

that it move out of Germany, Korea, Japan, and everywhere else as well.

The other three branches of the US military will be rolled into the Coast Guard, in fact

if not in name.

After yet another disastrous war, nobody will miss the US military's international presence.

Not at first anyway.

That's what's supposed to happen over the next couple decades.

But last week something funny happened.

Donald Trump woke up and decided to pull out of Syria.

Everybody in Washington DC lost their minds.

From CNN to Fox News, from Republican Lindsey Graham to Democrat Nancy Pelosi, all of Washington

DC thinks getting out of Syria is a terrible idea.

Donald Trump is a lot of things, but he is not a creature of Washington DC.

He sees US troops in Syria for what they actually are, an invitation to a war the U.S. cannot

afford, and an end to the US ability to bully anybody.

And he's not interested.

Nobody should be.

The future I talked about in this video has not yet been averted.

All of Trump's generals, and all of the "adults in the room" that are left are

still working to bring about this catastrophic war with Iran in Syria.

It pains me to say this, but Donald Trump is right about Syria, and all those #Resistance

Neocons are Very, very wrong.

You can debate whether or not it's a good thing, but Trump may have just saved the US

empire.

I think this withdrawal from Syria, if it's allowed to happen, could give us all a little

more breathing space to build a better world.
