Cynthia Nixon calls for Americans to 'take to the streets' if Trump fires Mueller

Actress Cynthia Nixon says if President Trump fires special counsel Robert Mueller, the

commander in chiefs opponents must take to the streets.

We must make the firing of Robert Mueller a stark line in the sand, the former Sex

and the City star said at a Monday event dubbed the Peoples State of the Union,

and if Trump crosses it we must take to the streets as never before!

Nixon was among the celebrity speakers at the anti-Trump event, scheduled the night

before his first State of the Union address to Congress.

The New York Times reported last week that in June Trump wanted to fire Mueller who's

leading the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election but ultimately backed

off when White House counsel Don McGahn threatened to quit.

[Russian President] Vladimir Putin, and [President] Donald Trump and his enablers

in the GOP Congress may think they have us on the ropes, Nixon, 51, told the crowd

in New York.

They may think that our belief in true participatory democracy is waning, that we

are complacent, that we are distracted, that we are just too beaten down from this horror

show year weve had and the sickening prospect of three more like it, the actress continued.

But we are here to prove them wrong!

There is no cavalry coming.

We are the cavalry! Nixon added to cheers.

If we want our democracy back, we have to get out there ourselves and seize it.

The Peoples State of the Union, hosted by We Stand United, MoveOn.org Political Action

and Stand Up America, featured a bevy of Trump critics, including Spotlight star Mark

Ruffalo, actor John Leguizamo, director Michael Moore and actress Rosie Perez.

REPORT President Trump Planning To Sign Order To Keep Gitmo Open- BreakingNews24 - Duration: 28:42.

REPORT President Trump Planning To Sign Order To Keep Gitmo Open

Remember when Obama claimed one of his first acts as president would be to shut down the

prison at Guantanamo Bay?

Yeah, that didn't happen.

And now Trump is planning to sign a new order to make sure it stays open.

Politico reports:

Trump plans to sign order keeping Gitmo open, leaked doc reveals

President Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order that would reverse an Obama-era

directive to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a draft

document obtained by POLITICO.

Trump is expected to announce plans to sign the order during his State of the Union speech

on Tuesday, or in the days before or after the address, a person familiar with the issue

said.

The executive order, according to a draft State Department cable that officials are

planning to soon send to U.S. embassies around the world, would rescind part of a separate

2009 order signed by then-President Barack Obama mandating that the facility be "closed

as soon as practicable."…

Trump promised during the presidential campaign to keep the Guantanamo Bay detention center

open, saying in February 2016 he wanted to "load it up with bad dudes."

Last year, he said he was considering sending a man who rammed a truck into people in New

York City to the facility.

It is also a rebuke to Trump's predecessor, Obama, who worked for years to close the detention

center, which he warned was a recruitment tool for terrorist groups.

In a sign of his commitment to the issue, Obama signed his executive order on his second

full day as president.

Trump has yet to send any captured terrorist to the controversial detention camp, and the

cable suggests that is not about to change.

"At this time, we are not aware of any plans to bring additional detainees to Guantanamo

Bay," the cable says.

The draft cable instructs U.S. diplomats to begin informing officials from other countries

about the executive order after the State of the Union speech, though embassies in London,

Paris, Berlin and a few other cities can begin filling in foreign governments on Monday "with

the request that they should not discuss the matter publicly until after the address."

The cable includes talking points designed to assuage the concerns of allies likely to

criticize Trump's decision.

The facility is reviled in Europe and beyond as a symbol of U.S. excess in the fight against

terrorists and the use of "enhanced interrogation" techniques that critics equate with torture.

There are evil people in the world who are at war with the United States.

We have to have a place to put them.

John Kerry makes fun of Trump's weight, asks for 'girth certificate'

Former Secretary of State John Kerry could not resist poking fun at President Trumps

weight during a speech Saturday in Washington.

The Hill reported that Kerry, who was defeated by President George W. Bush in 2004, was giving

a speech at the Alfalfa Club dinner and brought up Trumps recent medical exam that listed

the president's weight at 239 pounds.

Kerry, 74, said, Personally, I just wont believe him until he produces his long-form

girth certificate. Kerrys speechwriter apparently keeps a

close eye on social media because the joke went viral shortly after Trumps examination

results were released.

Sports Illustrated compiled a list of athletes who weigh the same as Trump to make a comparison.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, the presidents physician, said in a statement earlier this month that

Trumps exam went exceptionally well. Trump, 71, stands at 63 and weighed 239.

Trump is known to enjoy fast food and steaks.

The girther comment is a response to Trumps push to obtain Obamas birth certificate,

which became known as the birther movement.

In 2016, Trump said Obama was born in the U.S. period.

Trump blamed the Clinton campaign in 2008 for starting the controversy.

North Korea SLAMS Donald Trump's 'WAR first doctrine' which will lead to 'global RUIN' - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:45.

North Korea SLAMS Donald Trump's 'WAR first doctrine' which will lead to 'global RUIN'

NORTH Korea has attacked Donald Trump's trademark "America first" policy which

will drive the US into "isolation and ruin", a propaganda outlet has revealed.

The vicious verbal assault came just after President Trump pitched his America first

policy to the globalist Davos economic forum demanding other world leaders follow him by

putting their own countries first.

North Korean Workers' Party Central Committee said: "'America first' is the chauvinist

doctrine which is driving the US into isolation and ruin as it persists in inequality and

racial discrimination in the international relations and the war-first doctrine wrecking

global peace, prompted by its hegemonic nature."

North Korea accused the US of "extreme state egoism" following the newest promotion of

the America first policy which helped sweep Trump to election victory against Hillary

Clinton in 2016.

The President's flagship policy is designed to bring jobs back to the US and prioritise

the American economy and has been branded isolationist and faced accusations of association

with anti-Semitism.

The US President told world leaders he is "helping Americans find their path to the

American dream - a great job, safe home and a better life for their children" during his

keynote address at the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

He said: "The world is witnessing the resurgence of a strong and prosperous America.

"There has never been a better time to do business in America.

America is open for business, and we are competitive once again."

The official paper of the Workers' Party said: "The burglarious logic for aggression

'America first' justifying the act of depriving other countries and nations of sovereignty

and rights to existence and development serves as a strong catalyst accelerating ruin of

the empire of evils in every part of the world."

Washington DC media has hailed Trump's speech at Davos a success.

President Trump said: "I believe in America.

As President of the United States, I will always put America first.

Just like the leaders of other countries should put their countries first.

"But America first does not mean America alone"

North Korean media said: "'America first' calling for sacrificing the world for its

own abundant life drives even the allies and henchmen of the US into a dilemma and creates

a chaos in the overall West economy.

"'America first' is being buffeted by criticism of the international community as

it is a doctrine to turn the world into a theatre of rampage by the jungle law through

highhanded and arbitrary practices.

"It is natural in the light of the law of causality that the empire of evils wielding

"America first" stick for aggression and plunder in the world is hit by the international community.

"'America first', Yankee-style hegemonic doctrine saying that everything should exist

for the US, accelerates isolation and ruin of the empire of evils in all aspects of politics,

economy, military affairs and diplomacy."

BREAKING NOW Trump Just Made MASSIVE Change – 22% Of The US Will NEVER Be The Same!- BreakingNews24 - Duration: 28:42.

BREAKING NOW Trump Just Made MASSIVE Change – 22% Of The US Will NEVER Be The Same!

It's finally happening folks.

The days when 22% of our fellow Americans parking their rear ends on their couches while

the working schmucks go to work in order to give them welfare and food stamps might finally

be coming to an end.

In an attempt to wean people off of taxpayer help, on Wednesday the Trump administration

unveiled it's 2018 Farm Bill.

And amongst its many tweaks, it creates a work requirement for those who receive government

assistance in the form of food stamps.

The document calls for work as the "pathway to self-sufficiency, well-being and economic

mobility for individuals and families" for individuals and families who are on the Supplemental

Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told reporters at a farm near Mifflintown, Pennsylvania this

is a necessity in order to discourage the welfare lifestyle.

The lifestyle where people turn government assistance into a career choice.

Perdue went on to explain:

"It's evident that there are able-bodied adults without dependents who are on the food

stamp program, who we believe it is in their best interests, and their families' best

interests, to move into an independent lifestyle," Perdue said, according to Bloomberg News.

"During the last downturn, it became a lifestyle for some people.

We don't want it to become permanent," he added.

He also stated that because of this law able-bodied adults will no longer be able to just coast

by and receive food stamps without doing at least a 20 hour work week.

It can be in the form of charity work, part-time job, study or even community service.

But the days of just sitting on the couch waiting for that check to arrive are over.

Agricultural Secretary and Former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue

Freedom Works Reports:

TOP 10 REASONS FOOD STAMPS NEED TO BE REFORMED

Roughly 80 percent of the nearly $1 trillion dollar Farm Bill currently under debate in

Congress deals with food and nutrition assistance programs such as food stamps, the largest

of which is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

In recent years, food stamps have grown into a major financial obligation.

Enrollment in SNAP has increased dramatically, rising from 26 million in 2007 (one in twelve

Americans) to nearly 47 million 2012 (one in seven Americans).

Costs have increased dramatically as well, rising from $35 billion in 2007 to $80 billion

in 2012, making it the second most expensive means-tested federal welfare program, behind

only Medicaid.

As such, it is vital to understand the serious flaws in current food stamp programs.

1.

They Are Ineffective at Reducing Hunger

A report compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) noted that while SNAP (the largest

food stamp program) has had some positive results, "the literature is inconclusive

regarding whether SNAP alleviates hunger and malnutrition in low-income households."

It went on to say that, "those who choose to participate in food assistance programs

generally have greater difficulty meeting their food needs and tend to be more food

insecure compared to others that are eligible for programs but do not participate."

In other words, these programs, despite costing tens of billions per year, are not making

a sizable impact on hunger in America.

2.

They are Subject to Large Scale Fraud & Error

The Government Accountability Office reports that despite great progress, "the amount

of SNAP benefits paid in error is substantial, totaling about $2.2 billion in 2009."

Other food programs are worse.

The Daily Caller reports the story of Adam Sylvain, a student at George Mason University,

who recounts, "My roommate told me he applied for food stamps, and they told him he qualified

for $200 a month in benefits…

He's here on scholarship and he saves over $5,000 each summer in cash.

A few of our other friends who were in the room also said if there were able to, they

would get food stamps … They think that if they're eligible it's the government's

fault, so they might as well."

Stories like this are not uncommon.

Nor is the misuse of food stamp money by retailers or consumers.

In fact, there are only 40 investigators for over 193,000 retailers nationwide, making

abuse hard to catch.

3.

They Lack Transparency

The USDA does not disclose product purchases or how many total SNAP dollars are spent on

each product, nor does the USDA disclose how much money retailers make off of SNAP.

This makes it hard for investigative journalists and watchdogs to identify fraud in the system.

The Association of Health Care Journalists and six other journalist and open-government

groups have requested this information but the USDA refuses to reveal anything.

Why is USDA stonewalling journalists?

What do they have to hide?

4.

They are a Form of Corporate Welfare

According to public health lawyer Michele Simon of eatdrinkpolitics, "SNAP represents

the largest, most overlooked corporate subsidy in the farm bill."

Food stamp programs guarantee large corporations consistent cash flow, creating a powerful

corporate lobbying group that seeks to prevent cuts or changes to SNAP.

For example, J.P. Morgan has contracts for Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards used

for SNAP in half the states and has spent millions of dollars lobbying Congress.

In addition, large food retailers like Kroger and Walmart gain large shares of SNAP purchases.

In some states, Walmart captures upwards to 50 percent of all SNAP purchases.

These companies now have a vested interest in opposing any attempts to decrease food

stamp enrollment.

5.

Food Stamp Advertising Emphasizes Enrollment over Need

The USDA has conducted a massive campaign to increase the number of food stamp recipients,

even hiring recruiters who must fulfill enrollment quotas.

The USDA in its "Community Partner Outreach Toolkit" webpage gives ideas of how to spread

awareness and increase enrollment.

Ideas have been implemented such as SNAP-based bingo games for the elderly, food-stamp parties,

and fliers that that read, "Be a patriot.

Bring your food stamp money home."

But it doesn't stop here; the U.S. and Mexico began a partnership in 2004 to "provide

information on eligibility criteria for Food and Nutrition Service programs," and that

includes disseminating a Spanish language flyer that tells undocumented immigrants,

"You need not divulge information regarding your immigration status in seeking this benefit

[food stamps] for your children."

The U.S. also supplies 1/3 of the Puerto Rican population with food stamps, costing U.S.

taxpayers roughly $2 billion annually.

Clearly, food stamp programs have become more and more about numbers, instead of need.

6.

They Overlap and Create Inefficiencies

A report compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) stated that, "the 18 food assistance

programs show signs of program overlap, which can create unnecessary work and lead to inefficient

use of resources."

Indeed, administrative costs equal about $5.5 billion per year, or about 10 percent of the

value of food stamps distributed.

7.

They Lack Effective Work Requirements

On top of loosening eligibility requirements in both the 2002 and 2008 Farm Bills, and

easing restrictions on states to qualify participants in the 90s, the 2009 Stimulus plan suspended

the SNAP's work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs), a 'temporary'

suspension that has continually been renewed.

This creates an incentive for individuals to not work, because such action would likely

jeopardize their eligibility for food stamps.

According to the Congressional Research Service, participation in SNAP has doubled among these

ABAWDs- from 1.9 million to 3.9 million – far outpacing general enrollment increases.

This change allows individuals to stay on food stamps with less incentive to improve

their economic situation, draining taxpayers and discouraging self-reliance.

8.

They Create Dependency

The goal of any government welfare program should be to get people back on their feet,

not to keep them in poverty and hunger.

Current food stamp programs have little work required as a condition of assistance, encouraging

the relatively well off to freeload off the system and those in need to remain in poverty.

Food Stamp Dependence

9.

They Have Become a Burden on Taxpayers

While a large share of the rise in food stamp enrollment is due to our economic downturn,

over-active advertising and loosening of eligibility requirements have permanently (unless reformed)

enlarged food stamp programs.

The CBO projects that by 2022, 34 million people will be enrolled in SNAP and expenditures

will total $73 billion, much higher than $19.8 billion spent in 2000.

10.

They Should Be Handled by States

Currently, SNAP's funding comes completely from the federal government, encouraging states

to enroll as many people as possible.

In fact, in the states' view, there is little or no problem if food stamps are being abused;

it is not "their" problem.

This only leads to increasing costs.

States can also use what's called "categorical eligibility" for SNAP in which they determine

eligibility not on the program's income or asset limitations but on individual's

participation in other welfare assistance programs.

This usually leads to relaxed standards.

Sending the money directly to states as block-grants would give states more flexibility and encourage

them to minimize cost and maximize effectiveness, as proven by the successful welfare reforms

of the 1990s.

We all know people sometimes are down on their luck and they need a helping hand, there is

nothing wrong with that.

But we also know people who make it a career choice to receive taxpayer-funded help.

They just sit on the couch and watch tv while the rest of us go to work.

They have multiple children even though they can't possibly afford them and we the already

overburdened taxpayers, who have been responsible in our choices, are financially on the hook

for those children.

Enough is Enough,

Please share if you agree with the 2018 Farm Bill…

Dennis Prager Comes Clean on Trump 'My Opposition to Donald Trum - Duration: 4:22.

Dennis Prager Comes Clean on Trump: My Opposition to Donald Trump Was Wrong

Conservative commentator and outspoken Trump critic Dennis Prager has admitted he was wrong

to oppose Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican primaries.

Speaking on his radio show Thursday, Prager noted that Trump was his very last choice

among the the Republican candidates who sought their partys nomination, though he did

support the former businessman over Hillary Clinton in the general election.

But Pragers initial fears regarding a Trump administration have been alleviated now that

he has watched the presidents first year in office. In fact, he said Trump has been

a great president, despite his communication flaws.

I was wrong, Prager said, according to Breitbart News. My opposition to Donald

Trump was wrong, in retrospect.

Prager said that at first, he was put off by Trumps over-the-top statements,

like when the then-candidate suggested Arizona Sen. John McCain was not a hero because he

got captured during the Vietnam War.

However, according to Prager, even Trumps often objectionable statements show

that he doesnt give a d about what the press says about him.

That is the only way to govern. It is the only way to advance the principles of conservatism

in the United States is to not give a d, the radio host continued.

Prager went on to compare Trumps temperament to that of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt

Romney the 2012 GOP presidential nominee who he said would have been far too concerned

with how members of the media perceived him.

Would I like Donald Trump to have Mitt Romneys temperament, or for that matter

Barack Obamas temperament? Yeah, Prager acknowledged. So what? I would like a whole

host of things. People are packages. What a president does is more important to me than

a presidents demeanor.

Trump, he said, is so much better a president than Mitt Romney wouldve made. Though

he admitted that a Romney victory in 2012 would have been better than the alternative

four more years of former President Barack Obama Prager still thinks Romney would

have been a tepid leader.

Nothing comparably conservative compared to Donald Trump, he added.

Prager indicated that despite the issues he has with Trumps temperament, he places

greater importance on his performance in office. In that respect, hes pleased.

He has turned out to be a great president with big communication flaws, in the way he

tweets and some of the things he says and his temperament, the host said.

My temperament is the opposite. I love dignity. I love understatement. OK, so be

it. So what? Im not sure Id be as good a president as he. How do you like that? Thats

how good hes been.

Its not the first time Prager has expressed how grateful he is that Trump was elected

president.

Do conservatives or non-leftists, for that matter appreciate just how terrific

Donald Trump has been as president? he wrote in an April 2017 column posted to his

website.

What I do know is that they ought to be deeply appreciative of him, and deeply grateful

for luck or providence, and certainly for Trump himself, that he was elected president,

he added, not just because Trump defeated Clinton, but because his conservative principles

rival those of former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Calvin Coolidge.

Hassan Nasrallah: Trump uses ISIS to legitimize US Occupation of the Middle East - Duration: 4:50.

As regards regional issues, I have two words to say and I will not be long.

What happened during the last days proves conclusively what we and others have said

during the early events in the region (in 2011) about American objectives.

Well, yesterday, the US Secretary of State, Tillerson, announced

- of course it is not a Tweet from Trump: Tillerson spoke calmly after a meeting with his entourage, a planification, etc., this is not a mere Tweet;

because as for him, Trump may publish (inconsiderate) Tweets -

(Tillerson) announced that US forces would remain in Iraq,

and that US forces would remain in Syria (permanently).

Well, why do you want to stay in Iraq and Syria?

While when you created the international coalition, and came to Iraq and Syria at the time,

you said that you did not intend to stay - so see the hypocrisy of the United States -

you did not intend to stay, but you were only coming to push back ISIS.

And the people who have contributed the least to push back and defeat ISIS are you, Americans.

Well, now, what does (Tillerson) say? He said that the US forces and bases will remain in Iraq and Syria

to prevent the return of Daech. Magnificent.

I want to remind what we said a few years ago - you can check the archives.

When we said - not just us, many have said it in the region -

that Americans have created ISIS to have a pretext and an excuse to return their armed forces in the region,

and especially in Iraq,

after the people, the government and the heroic resistance of Iraq have kicked them out,

and that Iraqis have refused that the Americans have military bases and their soldiers and officers receive diplomatic immunity,

(thus) Obama decided to retreat.

Well, how do the Americans want the return to Iraq?

They need an excuse to return to Iraq.

They created ISIS to return to Iraq.

And today, on the pretext of ISIS, they want to stay (permanently) in Iraq.

Similarly, under the pretext of ISIS, they came to Syria, and on the pretext of ISIS, they want to stay (permanently) in Syria.

As the world knows, as Trump himself acknowledged, it's the United States that created ISIS.

Today I can say to the Americans, so that they do not mislead the public:

you want ISIS not to come back? It is sufficient for you not to return it, and ISIS will not return.

Do not ask your Gulf allies in the region to give ISIS money and weapons, and ISIS will not return.

Do not ask countries around the world to provide facilities for the takfiris to join ISIS and ISIS will not return.

Preventing ISIS to return to Iraq and Syria does not require US bases or US forces.

Iraqis take charge of preventing ISIS to resurface.

And the Syrians will take care to prevent ISIS to resurface.

And the claims of the US Secretary of State are only lies, hypocrisy, deceit and deception against the peoples of the region,

he fabricates specious pretexts from scratch in order to maintain US forces and bases in the region, which is the real goal.

Today, it is clear and obvious.

Of course, in Syria, the Syrian government announced its position, and it is clear that US forces did not coordinate with the Syrians.

But in Iraq, it is unclear if the US government has an agreement with the Iraqi government for the maintenance of these bases.

We have no information about it.

Or is it that the Americans merely inform Irak and Iraqis that they will remain in their territory,

without their consent or agreement, whether they like it or not ?

I consider it as one of the great challenges facing the Iraqi government, the Iraqi people and the Iraqi leaders and political forces :

the United States want to impose again, on their conditions, their bases to the Iraqis under the pretext of ISIS.
