he's gonna serve on the court 30 years none of us has any idea what the crucial

issues will be thirty years from now no I've been friends with a long long time

States Senator says something as stupid and is ignorant and as uninformed as

that that's why people are treating Alan Dershowitz the way they are at the Cape

it's an embarrassment the intellectual dishonesty of these people is staggering

they're frightened of other ideas let's let's talk about this book in in the

context of where we are with the Muller investigation because you have called

this for what it is from the beginning it's very dangerous when we criminalize

political differences which are your words right not mine right no I agree

and I think Muller is going to end up not having accomplished very much

you cannot indict a sitting president we know that Cavanaugh agrees with that as

well and you cannot impeach a president unless he's committed a crime collusion

is not a crime the president can't obstruct justice

listen I would actually say and I said this about the FBI director James Comey

whoever allowed him to write that book who was as an attorney and go on that

book tour I think did not sir him particularly well and I reminded him

at the time he had the right to remain silent

Lisa Paige was the top attorney for Andrew McCabe the Deputy Director of the

FBI and the boyfriend of Peter struck was at the heart of all of this she's

later she was exonerated but he had been building the exoneration case since May

this did this happened in July on top of that he was at the heart of the the

start of what is the the phony Russia case this guy was up to his eyeballs in

every single solitary thing leading up to this election with the desire to rush

the Russia investigation so that they could get Trump this is about impacting

an election well I think for everyday common-sense non-lawyers and I'm not a

Manafort who has not been convicted yet of anything

is apparently spending 23 hours a day in solitary confinement meanwhile every

single person in the Clinton team no matter what they have done has basically

been ignored exonerated allowed to go free now if you want to see how sick the

system is look at the way they're treating Paul man afford and look at the

way they treated Hillary's aides including the guy who took a hammer to

break up the smart phones and took bleach spit to destroy the memory of the

computers and say to yourself how come all these people had nothing done to

them and without even being convicted Paul Manafort is in solitary confinement

for 23 hours a day for a cold we have a very sick system a 2005 tax case and

remember what the judge said judge Ellis the third that they're putting the

screws to man afford for the purpose that he will sing or compose and that

the idea is to use him to either prosecute or impeach Donald Trump the

Democrats are going to ignore the suggestion of the Democratic whip dick

Durbin that they ought to commit suicide and vote no and they're going to vote

yes and I think you're going to see a real split between the radical extremist

wing of the Democratic Party and people who believe

that the system really should work they really do want to find a way to work in

the system the very reliable Chuck Schumer votes of Claire McCaskill and

Nelson Heitkamp and tester and the rest of them it's gonna be interesting to

President Trump Makes 2.6 Million

President Trump is on a roll this week and in that mode, he's about to make 2.6 million

grandparents very, very happy.

All with the stroke of a pen.

He's on a roll this week with pardoning the Hammonds, putting NATO fiscally in their

place and nominating Bret Kavanaugh to fill the void about to be left by Justice Kennedy

at the Supreme Court.

All promises kept and all fantastic news for Americans.

Perhaps Americans will never tire of winning after all.

On Monday, July 9, President Trump signed into law The Supporting Grandparents Raising

Grandchildren Act, first introduced by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA)

in May of 2017.

The Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act has received support from 40 older adult

and child advocacy groups including AARP, American Academy of Pediatrics and Generations

United, which aims to improve the lives of kids and older adults.

The law signed by President Trump will provide resources to grandparents who are raising

their grandchildren.

The Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act cleared the Senate unanimously in June.

It creates a federal task force that will set up a one-stop shop of resources for millions

of grandparents in the U.S. who are raising grandchildren.

This has to do with the fight against opioid abuse and the resulting effect it has had

on grandparents who wind up raising their displaced grandchildren.

They are forced into providing caregiving and a family environment for these children

while their children are treated for their addiction.

Sometimes this even includes great grandparents these days.

"With so many parents struggling with addiction, grandparents are increasingly coming to the

rescue and assuming this role," said Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), who co-authored the

bill.

"It is essential that we do all that we can to help these families."

It also addresses the fact that many of these parents d*e and the grandparents become defacto

parents to their poor grandchildren.

This law and the resources it provides was desperately needed by affected grandparents.

The resources the federal government will make available will include information about

legal custody, social services and mental health counseling, according to AARP, which

supported the bill.

"Approximately 2.6 million children are currently being raised in grandfamilies, and

experts say this number is rising as the opioid epidemic continues to devastate families and

communities across the country.

The legislation follows a March Aging Committee hearing where the members heard from grandparents

who are raising grandchildren when parents are struggling with addiction or are no longer

able to care for their children.

During the hearing, experts and grandparents testified on the need for grandparents to

have easy access to information about resources available to assist them.

""As the opioid epidemic expands, grandparents increasingly are being called on to become

the primary caregivers of their grandchildren.

Although this caretaker role can be beneficial for both the grandparents and the grandchildren,

it also presents several challenges," Sen. Collins said.

"Our legislation would spur a federal effort to identify, promote, coordinate and disseminate

information, resources and best practices that assist grandparents who are raising grandchildren."

""The opioid crisis is not only straining families, communities, law enforcement and

health care systems, but it is also presents new challenges for older Americans," Sen.

Casey said.

"As older Americans respond by stepping in to care for their grandchildren, this legislation

is designed to say that you are not alone and that we have your back, with a focused

federal effort to providing the information and supports grandparents need.""

The law will establish a Federal Advisory Council to support grandparents and other

relatives raising children.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be the lead agency coordinating the work

of the council.

Its charge is to identify, promote, coordinate and disseminate information about resources

and best practices to help relative caregivers meet the health, educational, nutritional

and other needs of the children in their care, as well as maintain their own physical and

mental health and emotional well-being.

The council will also develop a process so the public can provide comments and recommendations

to them.

Federal employees representing various agencies and departments whose work impacts grandfamilies

will comprise the other members of the council.

This includes agencies like the Administration for Community Living, Administration for Children

and Families, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Mental Health and Substance

Use.

To document the council's progress, they will issue a report to Congress in the first

six months and again in two years on best practices, resources and other information

for grandfamilies — as well as gaps in services to meet the families' needs.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is one of the sponsors of the bipartisan bill.

I usually don't agree with him on anything, but this time is different.

Brown said his office has heard from a number of affected grandparents in Ohio and from

other places.

He points to the opioid epidemic as one of the contributing factors to the trend.

"Experts report these numbers are growing as the epidemic gets worse," he said.

"Any parent of a young toddler can tell you caring for young children can be physically

demanding," he said.

"For so many grandparents then, taking on that responsibility means the end of retirement

for those who can go back to work or depletion of savings," Brown said.

It's devastating many families out there.

Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), another co-author of the bill, said he was pleased the legislation

was signed into law, saying that grandparents face "unique challenges such as delaying

retirement, bridging the generational divide and working through the court system to secure

custody."

This isn't about parties or politics… it's about a crisis that is ravaging this

country over opioid abuse.

While Congress continues to fight and tussle on most issues, legislators have come together

a remarkable number of times this year in support of grandparents and other relatives

raising children.

President Trump deserves the credit for this.

He has not forgotten about these grandparents, their children or grandchildren.

That being said, why didn't Obama focus on families affected by the opioid crisis?

"Under President Obama, a small army of executive branch "slow-walkers" served

as pallbearers, knowingly or not, to the grim march of overdose deaths from commonly prescribed

opioids that was already underway in years before he took office.

As the body count climbed, the Brownlee-led US Attorney settlement with Purdue, as well

as West Virginia's 2004 settlement against the same company, ought to have prompted scores

of decisions to reign in opioid prescribing.

Instead, the opposite happened: prescribing numbers continued to grow throughout Obama's

first term, reaching a peak in 2012.

Despite subsequent reductions, they remain the highest in the world.

During Obama's time in office, licit opioid prescribing increased not only in number but

also in potency.

Most notable was expanded use of the powerful synthetic known as fentanyl, a drug approved

only for opioid-tolerant c****r patients suffering from pain beyond the reach of traditional

opioids, but one that drug makers marketed in a manner of ways, including in advertisements

that pictured construction workers and others employed in similar, physically demanding

jobs.

Although a reduction in opioid supply was desperately needed, and close scrutiny of

opioid manufacturers more than warranted, the Obama administration declined to do either.

What most exacerbated the opioid crisis was the dramatic rise in overdose deaths from

heroin and heroin adulterated with illicit synthetics (fentanyl and carfentanil).

While Obama was president, illicit heroin underwent an industrial transformation: market

expansion, innovation, and in many places, a reconfiguration of production and distribution.

Yet the path of initiation to heroin via prescription pills that fueled its resurgence went substantially

unchallenged by the president.

In fact, it was strengthened and fortified.

Though Obama did not start the opioid crisis, it is a blunt and brutal fact that, under

his administration, drug overdose became the leading cause of d***h for Americans under

the age of 50, and the opioid crisis became the worst drug epidemic in American history.

It is an irrevocable part of his legacy as president."

U.S. President Donald Trump has urged NATO allies to double their military spending to

four percent of their GDP.

He made comments on Wednesday while attending a NATO summit in Brussels.

NATO members seemed a quite bewildered by Trump's comments…

The issue of defense spending and improved burden-sharing are issues Trump has repeatedly

harped on.

But NATO says Trump's proposed target of four percent of GDP on military spending is not

even being met by the United States.

Trump had earlier said Washington spends 4.2 percent, but according to numbers released

by NATO, it spent an estimated three and a half percent on defense this year, which is

a fraction lower than last year's figure.

He also singled out Germany for not pulling its weight, saying Berlin only spends "a little

over one percent.

NATO figures show Germany spends just under one and a quarter percent.

When asked about Trump's proposal, this is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

had to say…

"…..Well I will focus on what we have agreed and we have agreed to be committed to the

pledge increasing defence spending to 2 percent.

And let's start with that.

So we have a way to go, but the good news is that we really started to deliver……"

Despite Trump's complaints, he did sign the joint communique, in which NATO members agreed

to focus on more defense-spending and burden-sharing.

They also pledged to bolster the alliance's deterrence and defense capabilities to counter

Russian threats.

The joint communique comes just days before Trump meets Russian President Vladimir Putin

in Helsinki.

day period in Brussels and we really accomplished a lot with respect to NATO

for years presidents have been coming to these meetings and talked about the

expense the tremendous expense for the United States and tremendous progress

has been made everyone's agreed to substantially up their commitment

they're going to up it at levels that they've never thought of before prior to

last year way attended my first meeting it was going down the amount of money

being spent by countries was going down and down verse abstention and now it's

going up very substantially and commitments were made only five of 29

countries will making their commitment and that's now changed the commitment

was a two percent ultimately that'll be going up quite a bit higher than that so

we are we made a tremendous amount of progress today it's been about at a

minimum they estimate and they're going to be giving you exact numbers but since

last year they've raised an additional thirty three billion dollars that's been

put up by the various countries not including the United States and the

United States commitment to NATO is very strong remains very strong but primarily

because everyone the spirit they have the amount of money they're willing to

spend the additional money that they will be putting up has been really

really amazing to see it to see the level of spirit in that room is

incredible and I hope that we're going to be able to get along with Russia I

think that we probably will be able to the people in the room think so but they

nevertheless they really stepped up their commitment and stepped it up like

they never have before so we took in an additional 33 the number could actually

be higher than 40 when they give you the final number the secretary-general

Sultan Berg will be giving those numbers sometime today probably

his concluding press statement but we are we are doing numbers like they've

never done before or ever seen before and you'll be seeing that then I guess

you'll be hearing that a little bit later okay we have our Secretary of

State as you know and we have John is here so if you have any questions for

the three of us Mike Pompeo just got back from my third trip as you know to

North Korea he's become a true expert on the trips to North Korea the best way to

get there the best way to get out and he gets along very well and he's doing a

great job over there yes ma'am yes I told people that are be very unhappy if

they didn't up their commitments very substantially because the United States

has been paying a tremendous amount probably 90% of the cost of NATO and now

people are going to start and countries are going to start upping their

commitment so I let them know yet they actually I was surprised I said you

didn't pick it up it took till today but yesterday I let them know that I was

extremely unhappy with what was happening and they have substantially up

their commitment yeah and now we're very happy and have a very very powerful very

very strong NATO much stronger than it was two days ago

yes ma'am yes hi how are you I know you're very famous on television

well they were probably worried because the United States was not being treated

fairly but now we are because the commitment has been up so much so now

they are and I was very firm yesterday you have to understand I know a lot of

the people in the room I was here last year I let them know last year in a less

firm manner but pretty firm and they raised an additional thirty three

billion dollars I think going to 40 billion but it's thirty three billion

dollars as of today and then today and yesterday I was probably a little bit

more firm but I believe in NATO I think that is very important probably the

greatest ever done but the United States was paying for anywhere from 70 to 90

percent of it depending on the way you calculate that's not fair to the United

States in addition to that as you know we're in negotiations with the EU and

we're going to be meeting with them next week we've been treated very unfairly on

trade our farmers have been shut out of the European Union now you could say

they're different but basically to a large extent they're the same countries

so I think we're going to be ultimately treated fairly on trade we'll see what

happens but I can tell you that NATO now is really a fine-tuned machine people

are paying money that they never paid before they're happy to do it and the

United States is being treated much more fairly yes sir news hour did you win any

concessions in your meeting and discussions with the German Chancellor

when it comes to German defense spending and also this issue of purchasing energy

from Russia and secondly what would you say to your critics that say by creating

this scene here at NATO you're only enabling President Putin in Russia to

further disturb things in Ukraine and Georgia well if you consider putting up

tremendously you know the additional funds at a level

that nobody's ever seen before I don't think that's helping Russia I think that

NATO is much stronger now than it was two days ago I think that NATO

is not doing what they was supposed to be doing a lot of the countries and we

were doing much more than we should have been doing frankly we were carrying too

much of a burden that's why we call it burden sharing I was using the term a

lot today burden sharing we had a fantastic meeting at the end 29

countries and they are putting up a lot Germany is increased very substantially

their time period and Germany's coming along and we still have to figure out

what's going on with the pipeline because the pipeline is coming in from

Russia so we're gonna have to figure that out I brought it up nobody brought

it up but me and we all are talking about it now and actually I think the

world is talking about it now maybe more than anything else but we're gonna

figure that out but and frankly maybe everybody's gonna have a good

relationship with Russia so there'll be a lot less problem with the pipeline but

to me that was a very major point of contention we discussed it at length

today the Germany has agreed to do a lot better than they were doing and we're

very happy with that we had a very good relationship with Angela Merkel yes hi

calculate it was at 4.2 percent and I said that's unfair and we have the

largest GDP by far especially since we've increased it by so much since the

thing called the election our GDP has gone way up and so the fact that our GDP

went way up that means we're paying for even more

which is very unfair so I explained that we we will go too much higher than 2%

into the future but right now we're getting people up to 2% and that'll take

room by the time we left got along and they agreed to pay more and they agreed

out to be a very successful summit this is I think I think really that NATO is

more put together right now is more coordinated and I think there's a better

ever was the commitments are made at a higher level than they've ever been made

and the money to be paid out faster far faster you know the two percent was a

range of all it wasn't something that they were committed to

now it's a commitment there's a big difference the 2 percent number and

that's why so many people weren't reaching it or hitting it it was just

sort of like this amorphous number out there now it's a commitment a real

commitment I think he's going to see that there's great unity great spirit

great esprit de corps and I think we're gonna have a good meeting regardless of

that I think we're gonna have a good meeting but this was a fantastic two

days this was a really fantastic it all came together at the end and yes it was

a little tough for a little while but ultimately you can ask anybody at that

meeting they're really liking what happened over the last two days there's

a great great spirit leaving that room yes sir go ahead please

discuss many important issues at the summit among them is defense spending and we

all agree that we have to do more I agree with you that we have to make sure

that our scientists more the good news is that the Allies have started to

invest more in defense. Eh after years of cutting on defense budgets has started

to have started to add billions to the defense budgets and last year was the biggest increase in

spending for Europe and Canada in a generation. Why was that last year? It's also because

of your leadership because they declared message and

I have said it before things that really has time it's in your message is having

an impact we are going to build on that to make sure that we have further

increases you initiated last year that all allies are going to develop national

plans and also spend more on defense and based on these national plans we

now estimate that in our ........... will add 266 extra US dollars for

defense from now and billion US dollars until 2024 so so this is

really adding some extra moment it helps moving in the right direction but we

still understand absolute to do more and that is what we want to address after

the summit later on today. Let no other strong NATO is good for Europe it's also

good for United States, the u.s. Winter Fest this year helps to protect

Europe but also helps to not distance project power to Middle East and

Africa and I think also have found the military cloud

of Europe the cloud, the political cloud is also itself oil deal with with

Well I have to say I, think it's very sad when Germany makes a

massive oil and gas deal with Russia where you're supposed to be guarding

against Russia and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a

year to Russia so we're protecting Germany we're

protecting France were protecting all of these countries and then numerous of the

countries go out and make a pipeline deal with Russia with them paying billions

of dollars into the coffers of Russia so we're supposed to protect you against

Russia but they're paying billions of dollars to Russia and I think that's

very inappropriate and the former Chancellor of Germany is the head of the

pipeline companies and supplying the gas. Ultimately Germany will have almost

70% of their country controlled by Russia with natural gas so you tell me

is that appropriate I've been complaining about this from

the time I got it they should have never been allowed to have happened but

Germany is totally controlled by Russia because they will get it from sixty to

seventy percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline and you tell

me if that's appropriate because I think it's not and I think it's a very bad

thing for NATO and I don't think it should have happened and I think we have

to talk to Germany about it on top of that Germany is just being a little bit

over 1% whereas the United States and actual numbers is paying 4.2%

percent of a much larger GDP so I think that's inappropriate also you know we're

protecting Germany we're protecting France we're protecting everybody and

yet we're paying a lot of money to protect now this has been going on for

decades this has been brought up by other presidents but other presidents

never did anything about it because I don't think they understood it or they

just didn't want to get involved but I have to bring it up because I think it's

very unfair to our country it's very unfair to our taxpayer and I think that

these countries have to step it up not over a 10-year period have to step it up

immediately. Germany is a rich country they talk about they can increase it a

tiny bit by 2030 well they could increase it immediately tomorrow

and have no problem I don't think it's fair to the United States so we're gonna

have to do something because we're not going to put up with it we can't put up

with it and it's inappropriate so we have to talk about the billions and

billions of dollars that's being paid to the country that we're supposed to be

protecting you against you know everybody's everybody's talking about it

all over the world they'll say well wait a minute was supposed to be protecting

you from Russia but why are you paying billions of dollars to Russia for energy

why are countries in NATO namely Germany having a large percentage of the energy

needs paid you know to Russia and taking care of by Russia now if you look at it

Germany is a "Captive of Russia" because they supply they get rid of their coal

plants they got rid of their nuclear they're getting so much of the oil and

gas from Russia I think it's something that NATO has to look at I think it's

very inappropriate you and I agree that it's inappropriate I don't know what you

can do about it now but it certainly doesn't seem to make sense that they

paid billions of dollars to Russia and now we have to defend them against Russia.

NATO is an alliance of 29 nations and there are sometimes differences and

the different views and also some disagreement

on the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany issue with allies disagree but the strength or NATO is

that the despite these differences we have always been able to unite around

our past to protect and defend each other because understand that we are

stronger together than apart. I think the two world wars on the Cold War focal

stuff we are stronger together than apart... But how can you be together when a country

is getting its energy from the person you want protection against or from the

group that you want protection because we understand that when we stand

together also in dealing with Russia we are stronger I think what we have seen

is. No you just make it Russia richer we're not dealing with Russia we're making

Russia richer. I think even during the Cold War NATO allies were trading with

Russia although there have been disagreements about what kind of trade arrangements with

food. I think trade is wonderful I think energy is a whole different story

the energy is a much different story than normal trade

and you have a country like Poland that won't accept the gas you take a look at

some of the countries they don't want accept it because they don't want to be captive to

Russia so Germany as far as I'm concerned is captive to Russia because

it's getting so much of its energy from Russia so we're supposed to protect

Germany but they getting their energy from Russia.

Trump urges NATO nations to up defense spending - Duration: 0:45.

President Donald Trump is calling on NATO members to double their spending targets on

defense.

According to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, Trump suggested at the NATO summit

Wednesday that countries increase defense spending goals from 2 percent of their gross

domestic product to 4 percent.

Sanders said in a statement: "President Trump wants to see our allies share more of the

burden and at a very minimum meet their already stated obligations."

It's a high number to spend on defense every year.

Even the U.S., which spends more on defense than any other nation in the world, hasn't

forked over 4 percent of its GDP for defense since 2013.

Only eight NATO nations are expected to meet the 2 percent goal this year.
