Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Support Community.

Were the photos saved in the Google Photos cloud? Are you accessing photos.google.com? If yes, it can be possible that the photos weren't uploaded successfully to Google Photos (cloud) and also make sure you're logged in to Google Photos with the same Google Account that you used during the backup. Photos/videos that are not synced or backed up, will still appear in Google Photos and will have this icon

(which means not synced/backed up) or some photos/videos will also show up with the two arrows in a circle mean backup is in progress.

Once the upload is complete there will be no icon on any photos/videos. Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.

In case, you are uploading a large amount of data (photos/videos), please know that it might take 24-48 hours for the photos and videos to sync across all devices. Please ensure to have 'Backup & sync' enabled on the Google Photos settings while you're backing up your photos and videos. To check is the content is backed up, login in to photos.google.com to checked for your backed up photos and videos.

However, if you're sure they were backed up, I recommend you looking for your video here:

This happened to me too. As I save more, the older ones start disappearing. I know this cause I made a few collections, before I even noticed this happening, and one of the collections is empty even though I saved photos to it. I even tried using different browsers, clearing the cache, etc.

I wanted to back up my Apple Photos library to Google, using the Google Backup and Sync for Mac. I turned on the option of syncing the Photos library. I also ticked the RAW and metadata options instead of all. Overnight, some 300 photos have been synced (out of a couple tens of thousand).

But they don't show up in the Photos web or app. In Photos web I see the year 2014 listed at the bottom (which is when the earliest photos were taken) and when I scroll I see months listed like "June 2015" etc. but no photos. I hate to think that Google has my photos somewhere but I don't!

I have given it a more than 5 hours but nothing is there. I have cleared my cache, tried a different browser, incognito mode etc. I am on the same Google account (and also I see the years so there must be something that happened!). This is extremely annoying. I thought I found my holy grail but I guess it's as disappointing as Apple iCloud...

if you go to https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ you can select by date added/ Clicking on the actual date selects batches of 500 for deletion. Hopefully you didn't upload any other photos on the same day or you will have to scroll and check there is nothing important selected.

Backing up your phone and backing up your photos are two separate action. One is in Android setting and only includes contacts etc. The other is in the Google Photos app:-

Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

Good luck, unfortunately if you have looked at all the options and still can't find your photos then there are no other possibilities we can suggest, other than if you have a Google One account you can contact 1:1 Support

Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.

Backup & Sync will sync your extreme foldertree to Google Drive for free, but of course I don't know about the limits of Drive about how deep a tree can go. At the same time the upload of all pictures goes into the Google Photos library (also for free if you choose High Quality) in one extreme library and there you will not see your individual folders back at all.

So it is up-to-you if this is an acceptable solution for you, because it will be a hell of a job to create albums.

But there is no other possibility at Google and all for free too.

Please use the feedback option with a title - FREE UP SPACE BUG followed by a brief explanation and include logs.

This will give visibility to the senior managers who analyse the reports and if lots of people are affected it will raise the priority.

Any Me Toos, please do the same. Starting with the main problem in capitals will show up better of the feedback report. You can see an example of the report format at https://www.google.com/tools/feedback/reports which will demonstrate why the Capital option is best used.

yes, it looks like all or nothing. Depending on you usage needs perhaps you could consider the following.

Different user profiles are accessible since Android 4.2 where stroking down twice from the top of the screen shows a user icon which you can tap to see the Add user option.

After creating a new user you can switch to it and set up a completely separate profile with it's own Photos and camera settings. For example I can switch between Home and Work and the two have no common apps or settings. Switching is quick and would allow two Photo accounts to be used completely independently.

But I don't agree with applying an unnatural colorshift to a large range pictures unless they all were taken in the same situation like some artificial lighted popconcert which is unnatural also :-)

However: I was forgotten about the easy copy & paste method via the menu under the 3 dots, but there you also can decide to save your abnormal edit as copy - then you can put your original in archive :-)

You can override the system auto-rotation setting and you can set a specific option for the app. Anyway, I got my answer now. Google photos doesn't have that option, but would be helpful to have it too, as an addtion to all the good features in the app.

If you had Google Photos installed on your Moto before the screen broke, the photos should be uploaded to your Google account. Check on a computer at photos.google.com and log in with the same Google user account you use on the phone.

If they're not there, I don't see how you can install or turn on the app now when you can't see.

I would try connecting the phone to your computer with the USB cable and hope that you don't need to tap anything on the phone's screen (some do, some don't) in order to access your photos and copy them to the computer.

I have a shared album where me and my wife both upload pictures to. We both can see each others uploads and comment on it. We started inviting family members to this shared album and 4 out of 5 can see both of our uploads and comment on it. The 5th person can only see my uploads to this album, and whenever he comments, only I can see their comment.

I tried removing and re adding the person, same issue each and every time.

We are all on android OS, but I've tried it on the web too, same issue.
