That's an iCloud thing. You can't delete from the phone without deleting from iCloud. Unlike Google Photos. With Google Photos you CAN delete from the phone and leave the photos in Google's cloud. But, when you use Google Photos to delete photos from the phone - iCloud will notice that and synchronize the deletion thru to the iCloud.

Since the release of "Memories" feature in Google Photos, the feature has never been present on my Pixel XL. I tried it on an older Android I have as well, and the Memories feature was missing as well. So I feel this could possible be an account issue instead of a Device or Software issue.

I've also tried clearing the cache for the Photos app as well as removing all updates for Google Photo and reupdating it.

I've basically hit the extent of what I can do as a user, and I searching for help I really can't find others in the same situation.

Any help from someone at Google would be appreciated.

Hi

The fact is that Google Photos has a function to show all the files from your gallery, but if you do NOT enable Autobackup & sync, then Photos does not have your files. The photo simply shows, but without the setting for uploading - not uploading. Check Photos through the browser https://photos.google.com - if there are no files, then everything is fine. If there are files: turn off Autobackup and sync settings, and delete your photos.

❗ Also you need to understand: Google Photos does not show any photos on the Internet, but if only you share your files, then only you yourself can show them. G Photos is a private service, without public access for other users.

A few hours ago, I decided to start syncing and backing up my photos to Google Photos. I used high quality at this time, unaware that this was chosen. After I realized, I made a google takeout of all my images (safekeeping), deleted the app from my phone, and deleted every photo I had on google images, with the intent to upload at original quality. When I redownloaded the app, there was only one photo that synced and backed up to Photos, which I took after I deleted google photos. Not really sure how I could go about fixing this, any help?

Edit - I got all the images to load back in Google Photos on my phone, but none are on my computer.. additionally, they aren't backing up on my phone. The photos on my phone have the "refresh" icon in the bottom right corner, but no sign of them actually backing up / syncing.

Perhaps you just have forgotten to empty the trash under the 3 small lines.

And on iPhone the app needs to be open at good wifi to be able to sync.

I don't know why you expect to see anything on your computer unless via https://photos.google.com in its browser. So you need to download the new pictures every week to have them on your computer disc.

It only makes sense to upload in original quality if you are prepaired that you will need to start paying for more storage soon. Unless you go on with deleting after a new take-out.

They should be there (if uploaded) if you are logged-in with the same account as used in the Photos-app under its 3 small lines. Assuming your browser is up-to-date and not 7 years old.

Sometimes is it wise to install Chrome as a secundary browser just for Google-affairs only - then you can stay logged-in. Other browsers can cause troubles due to all kind of strange causes.

You also can look at the search-option "Recently added" (https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_)

Photos moved to or edited (by other software) in Google Drive -> Google Photos folders do not reflect in Google Photos App (Web or Phone).

This should be a a 2-way sync, & not just a 1-way, once only download folder.

I unfortunately don't know the song's name but there's a way of knowing it with the Google app on your Android device. While the music is playing do a Google search by tapping the microphone icon in the search box, then tap the musical note icon that appears. The app may be able to identify the song.

I'm uploading photos to the Google Photos website (https://photos.google.com/). Once they sync, I've ticked the box in Google Drive to "Automatically put your Google Photos into a folder in My Drive". Basically I want to upload photos, then they sync back to my Google Drive.

My issue is this:

Say I upload 100 photos to Google Photos - when it syncs back to Google Drive, sometimes it doesn't sync all 100 back. Maybe 90-95 photos. This happens across a range of photos I've uploaded and seems random in nature. Sometime I get 100% success and other times less. Quite frustrating as I've got about 40,000 photos total to upload and having random photos missing slows down the whole process. An example is I can see a 2005 photos on Google Photos and in Google Drive inside Google Photos/2005 (album exist) but nothing is there. If I try finding the photo name in search photos from 2005 doesn't exist on Google Drive but exist on Google Photos.

Is there a way to force a resync from Google Photos to Google Drive?

My photos are uploading to google photos as resized to 720x960px (0,7Mpix). Originaly in gallery app (Xiaomi mi 9 se) its 3000x4000px. Sometimes photos are not synced with error: only on this device becasue file is too big or unknown type of file.

Photos taken on my Pixel 2 XL will randomly be corrupted seconds after taking them. They shop up as greyed out squares, tapping on them gives an endless spinner. They do not get backed up and do not display in the browser version of Google Photos. Navigating to this folder via USB connected to my computer shows files that I cannot read. There's 42% percent free space on my device

This has happened before, I raised it with Pixel chat support in March (8-4223000021464) and again today (3-1020000022752) - both of whom were very friendly. Various steps taken:

Clearing Google Photo Cache / Data
Clearing Camera Cache / Data
Reinstalling Google Photos
Reinstalling Camera
Reset of all app permissions (System > Reset options > Reset app preferences)
Restarts

Unfortunately the files are gone now after the cache purge, so I have lost those photos forever like last time.

Due to this I have begun to doubt taking photos with the phone, I go to various concerts, weddings and events - photos just corrupting isn't really sustainable. I love telling people how great the phone is, and how good the photos turn out - but that gets tarnished when I have to tell them that sometimes the photos get corrupted.

Support told me that this is an app issue and told me to post here, so I am hoping someone can assist me.

I thought a reboot would fix the problem but the photos then just disappeared.

I've run into this problem as well! Two of my photos, taken with the camera on my Pixel 2 XL (one yesterday & one today) are exactly as you describe. I took several other pictures each day within minutes of the "corrupted" ones & they are all just fine. Not what you want to find when you go back to view said pictures!

This is the first time I've run into this problem. I hope it gets fixed ASAP!

Same issue here - happens sporadically but very annoying and frustrating, and can't find a way to recover multiple "lost" grayed out photos. Occasionally, if it's just one and was the last photo I took, I can go into the camera app and the thumbnail in the lower right corner will display it and if I click on it, it maximizes for a second and then goes to the black screen with the spinning white circle - but if I'm quick enough, I can screen capture it so I can "recover" it that way.

Google Support has been no help - anyone find a solution to this? It's a VERY big problem since it basically represents lost data and that, more than anything else, should not be happening.
