Hi di bowd,
Thank you for posting to the Google Photos Forum today,
You can find how to delete from Google Photos at this link here: https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128858?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop
Just be warned that if you do this with your backup and sync enabled on your phone then you'll also delete the photos from your phone. So turn backup and sync off and only delete everything from the Google Photos website.
If you have anymore follow up questions, please let us know.
Have a lovely day 😁

I tried the solution in this post (https://support.google.com/photos/forum/AAAAzDQC9KE-vxgTaFiqMA?hl=en) but there is no link to Google photos in Drive. I am a recent convert to Android from iPhone and it was simple to add a folder for iCloud Photos to Windows Explorer. Why is this so hard with Google Drive? I may switch back to the iPhone!!

Question: How to disable shared album limit for Google Photos?
I've tried adding some photos to my shared travel album, but I got a pop-up saying I couldn't add any more photos. I've read online that Google used to have a 2000 limit, but they recently (2017 ish) removed it. I think for some reason mine still has the limit. Is there a way to edit/remove the limit or add more than 2000 photos? It'd be really annoying to have to add it into another album because it's all part of one trip.
For reference, I'm using a Pixel 2 XL.

Question: I have lost my all photos from trash folder. I want to restore back.
Hi Tech,
If you have back up & sync on, photos and videos you delete will stay in your trash for 60 days. You can recover deleted items by following the below steps:
- Open the Google Photos app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
, then Trash
.
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
- At the top right, tap Restore
. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.
Incase, if you're unable to restore from the Google Photos, the following things could be the reasons:
- Photos and Videos moved to trash more than 60 days ago.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash, then emptied your trash.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash permanently deleted from your trash.
You can also contact the Google Drive support team as they can restore photos up to 21 days after deletion if the photos are available in the Google Drive. You can click the "Missing or deleted files" entry of the contact form and request a phone call or any other option that works for you.
You can learn more here on how to recover your files in the help center:Google Photos Support- See if you can restore deleted photos & videos
I hope this helps. Let me know if you are successful with it later on.
Kind Regards,
Samson

Question: BRING PICASA (LOCAL SERVICE) BACK

First of all - i am talking about WINDOWS platform - why is this missing from drop down menu in first place?
Second - just admit that web base apps sucks, just like Samsung J5!
It's great that we have unlimited storage to back up our photos but that's hardly all we - users need! And we had this like 10 years ago as well. And in the last few years things get from bad to worse. Why - because someone still believes in web.
I also understand that through web cloud based service you have so much more control over user's data and ways to manipulate it and sell it to whom it may concern (or to try teach AI a few tricks - like easily recognize opossum from cheetah) - you are corporation and that's OK. And you have Android, which pretends not be shit, which is OK, too.
Still - find another way to collect my data like call me over my android phone and ask me,politely!
Google photos sucks full stop
Yes - in 2015 was kind-a-fine because it was new, it has large thumbnails and so and so.
In 2018 it's more obvious than ever that your multi million data servers (made) in China can't compete with single user's 8 gb ram, 256 SSD laptop when it comes to simple needs to view and control one's photos.
And you can't tell users which photos came from YOUR android and which from Microsoft's Windows?
It is slow, unresponsive and soooooooooooooooooooooooooo buggy. Just google it. And lacks so many simple functions, like select all 100000 pictures at once? Or "restore 100000 pictures from Bin AT ONCE". Like in Windows (since 1998 and earlier) - the most popular platform in the universe. It cant restore even 100 of them. And it gets users sooooooooo frustrated.
And you can't tell users which photos are not included in albums? Really? And i can go on and on and on and not give a shit about your buggy and buggier Android and other services, which either are too expensive, or not supported in my country, or not supported on my Android 4.4.2...excuse me i have more important things to spend my money on - like ice cream. You can't even tell users how many photos they have in their own albums. Here is an idea - hire someone who can count? If your search engine is so good, what's the word to search for photos without people on it?
Please, bring back photos service on local WINDOWS machines.
WEB is 20th century idea. Old and obsolete and i won't live long enough to see much improvement.
Answer:
You can still use Picasa on your Windows-10 machine like 10 years ago in Windows-98. But it is not supported anymore and recently it also became disconnected from other Google services like Blogger, Gmail, Google Contacts and Google Photos.Nevertheless it still is great software for editing and organizing and you can export to create downsized copies for mailing or uploading, incorporating your edits.Good luck !
Answer:
No reply from your side - probably because you don't have Gmail. But in addition: you have a wrong idea about Google Photos - that merely is a modern replacement of old Picasaweb which was not designed to be compatible with mobile usage.Because a mobile like your Samsung can be used as a fairly good camera, the Google Photos app was designed to show these camera-images and to upload them automatically to Google for additional safety. And then it also becomes more easy to clean-up your phone-memory by using the Free-up space option in the app.On desktop you can view Google Photos in your browser at https://photos.google.com being logged-in with your Google-account of course, because your images are private. Then you can download these pictures to your computer and use them in Picasa for editing and organizing. That's all / Rinus
Answer:
Second that.....Picasa was incredibly helpful and I still (try) to use it even in addition to my LR and PS. It's slow because of no updates but I deal! Wish you'd bring it back
Answer:
I agree. Picasa was the absolute best platform to use for quick uploading to Google photos. It leveraged your Windows PC to do the compression work, and you had so much more control over what you wanted to upload from your PC to your Google photos. In the digital age, you can take 5, 6, 7 etc... pictures of the same scene to get one (or sometimes none) decent shot. I don't need to upload all that through Snail Sync through several hours (and sometimes days). All I need is the cropped, edited picture I wish to upload - in a few seconds, rather than the way it is now. Google Snail Sync is too slow. I just don't use it for pictures. So unless Google can make something similar that can work quickly, they should just bring Picasa back. Why fix it if it ain't broke???
Answer:
I agree!!!! I loved Picasa. Google Photos sucks. I missed having a library I could share with my friends, and the simple yet perfect design of Picasa. BRING IT BACK!!!!
Answer:
I agree too. I have strong photo editing skills and use photoshop for editing, but I really like how fast and light Picasa was along with some of the batch features. I still use the older version of the software, but it would be nice for it to come back and be updated a little.

Question: Google Backup and Sync Misses Photos
I have Google Backup and Sync set up on my Windows 10 laptop. And it mostly works, except that when …I have Google Backup and Sync set up on my Windows 10 laptop. And it mostly works, except that when I add new photos to the folder that is supposed to be synced to Google Photos, about 1 in 10 don't get synced. This appears to be random - the unsynced photos are from the same camera, and aren't particularly different than the photos that do sync. Is there any way to get Backup and Sync to work on all the photos, not just most of them? When I noticed that some photos hadn't synced, I opened up Google Backup and Sync on my computer and found a list of files that Backup and Sync had failed to sync. There was a button that gave me the option of "Retry All" so I pushed it and all the photos in the list got uploaded to Google Photos. And now I want to point out how stupid this all is:1) The point of backup software is to BACK FILES UP. So if Backup and Sync fails to upload files the first time, it should keep trying by itself without me having to manually click on a button. And if for some reason the backup keeps failing, there should be a big notice in Google Photos itself, both in the phone app and on the web app, saying, "hey, I couldn't upload these files, you might want to check on it.2) Although the photos that had failed to sync have now been uploaded to Google Photos, I have NO way to figure out which photos those were. So I have albums in Google Photos that are missing photos that I wanted to include in them, but I don't know which albums nor which photos. So my only option is to browse my entire collection of albums and compare it to all the photos I have in Google Photos and hopefully notice that some of the albums are missing photos. Stupid.3) The above problem could be avoided if Google Backup and Sync had an option of uploading directly into a Google Photos Album (like Picasa used to be able to do) so that when I click on "Retry All" the photos go straight to the correct album. Which is why former Picasa users are so annoyed with Photos/Backup and Sync - useful features in the former that got abandoned in the latter.4) And while I'm complaining about features that used to be in Picasa but are missing from Photos, the lack of red-eye correction in Photos is super annoying. It was in Picasa for 10 years, but it's missing from Photos. It's not even in Snapseed, Google's "complete and professional photo editor." Photos has 14 different color filters but red-eye correction got dropped. Again, stupid.

I can see the timestamp using the web app by clicking on the info icon. The time stamps look correct, but Photos doesn't seem to be using them to order the photos. I have chosen "Sort by oldest first" in the Edit Album menu, and the first half of the album is in order, and the second half is in order, but the time stamps on the second half are all earlier than the first half. So the photos the photos in the first half and the second half should be switched, but Photos is not doing it.Note that all the photos were taken with the same camera over a span of 30 minutes.

Hi Brian, we are having issues with timezones at the moment, if you click on the date and time you will see the timezone. Also if you select all the photos (not if more than 100 or so) and choose Edit date & time:> Preview you will see all the photos and their timezones. Does anything look amiss in that view?

Over the last week I've scanned in a number of old slides that my grandfather took. As I added each photo, I was able to add a location in the Info section, under Details.Yesterday I added some family members to the album. Now the add location function is no longer appearing. How do I turn this back on?Thank you.
Answer:Hi Karl,Under Settings at https://photos.google.com/settings, look for "Sharing" and expand that section. In there you will see "Remove geo location in items shared by link" - If it's blue, it's enabled.Let us know if that helped!
Answer:
I think that the OP talked about ADDING locations, not REMOVING them. I noticed that I can still add in the "Photos" view (library), but not in an album. Similarly you cannot add stars or archive from within an album. Very irritating. I never use the library since all my photos are in albums, but they limit the usability of it.
Answer:
Thanks for the suggestion. It was already off, but that only applies to shared by link. I added other contributors to the album. The locations originally created were there, but now they are not editable. Those pictures without location tags are now locked, cannot add a location. My workaround is to upload these old family pics into an album not shared, and once I've edited the metadata then I copy them to the family shared folder. Still the other family members can't enrich or correct the data once added.
