I certainly understand your concern regarding face group. For this, could you please confirm if the face recognition works on the web version of the Google Photos?

Please know that, there isn't a way to manually add a new face group. Since you don't see any more people photos in the 'People' album, you may try to toggle the below settings:

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
Sign in to your Google Account.
Tap Menu Settings Group similar faces.
Turn off Face grouping.
Turn on Face grouping.

Note: Once you turn on the face grouping, Google Photos does take a certain amount of time to scan the photos and add them in the 'People' folder. I'd suggest you to sit back and relax and wait for a couple of days.

If the issue persists, please follow these steps:

Sign out of your Google account and sign back in.
Clear App data:

Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
Touch Apps.
Select Google Photos in the list.
Touch Clear data.

Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:

Visit the Google Play Store.
Open Google Photos.
Touch on Update.

Restart your device.
Take a look at your Wi-Fi connection and make sure it's up and running (it doesn't hurt to disconnect it and reconnect it).

It looks like few of the photos isn't being saved/synced to your Google Photos account, just to let you know that, photos larger than 75MB or 100MP, videos larger than 2GB, and items smaller than 256 x 256 can't be backed up on Google Photos.

Also, try checking your backup status:

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app .
At the top:

If you see a number: It means there's still that many photos that haven't been backed up.
Back up is complete: If you see Upload complete .
"Waiting for Wi-Fi": Change your settings or connect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. Tap the card to change your settings.
Back up is off: If you see Back up off . Tap to turn on back up.
"A photo or video was skipped": A photo or video is not uploading because it doesn't meet our requirements:

Photos can't exceed 75MB or 100 megapixels
Videos can't exceed 10GB

If the issue still persists, I'd recommend you try some of these basic troubleshooting steps:

Sign out of your Google account and sign back in.
Delete the Google app(s) and reinstall again.
Restart your iOS phone: Hold the power button (top right edge of device) and home button (bottom circular button beneath screen) together for about 5-7 seconds until you see an Apple logo; when you see the logo, let go (the phone isn't deleting anything, just refreshing).
Take a look at your Wi-Fi connection and make sure it's up and running (it doesn't hurt to disconnect it and reconnect it).

If it still doesn't shows, try the steps from this "My photos aren't being backed up" help center article.

I certainly understand the importance of photos and videos on an account. To see if you can restoredeleted photos, please follow these steps:

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the top left, tap Menu Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
- In your phone
- Into the "Photos" section of the app.
- Into any albums it was in.

Also, if something isn't in your trash, it can't be restored. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without being backed up.

Good afternoon.

The pictures in shared albums (that are not yours) will never be synced to your phone, so you don't need to worry about someone else's pictures being mixed in with your own.

You'll always be able to view the pictures in shared albums from within the Photos app, but those files won't ever be downloaded onto your device unless you manually and intentionally choose to do that.

Also, the only time you should ever see someone else's pictures from a shared album is when you're actually viewing that album (unless you choose to add all of the shared images to your own Photos library, which will then put them into your main timeline -- but still will not download anything to your device).

Basically, keep this in mind when it comes to shared albums: It's not actually a "" synchronization where files are uploaded, downloaded, and/or deleted so things are identical in both places. Instead, the shared album view is more of a window that allows you to see that other person's pictures, but those picture files are never actually downloaded (unless you intentionally choose to download them).

I hope this helps clear things up. Let me know if you have more questions about this.

Thank you for your response. It is good to hear the photos are not truly synching, but my goal is to remove them from my "main timeline" I suppose. You say "unless you choose to add all of the shared images to your own Photos library". I never explicitly added the images to my library, but albums were shared with me and they started showing in my main timeline. This is on my Pixel 3 as well as when I go to photos.google.com.

The only option I see in photos.google.com is to go to the "Sharing" tab and click options -> Leave album. However, I don't want to leave the album entirely. Is there a way to remove the album from my timeline without leaving the album?

The albums themselves should only be present when you're in the Sharing section, unless you are the album owner, in which case the album will also be present when you're viewing your own Albums section.

As for the pictures contained within those albums, they should not be visible in your regular library timeline (the Photos view) unless, of course, the pictures belong to you. Pictures added to shared albums by other people should not be showing up in the Photos timeline/library.

What I meant by "unless you choose to add all of the shared images to your own Photos library" is that you do have the option to save exact copies of the pictures added by other users in a shared album. You can't edit, manipulate, or share a picture that belongs to someone else, but you can create a copy of someone's shared picture (which you would then be the "owner" of that particular file, and free to do with it as you please).

However, adding someone else's pictures from a shared album must be done manually. You must click/tap the cloud icon with the downward-facing arrow inside it that's visible in the upper right corner when you're viewing a shared album and/or viewing a picture inside a shared album. If you're viewing a picture, clicking/tapping the icon will add that image to your own library/timeline. If you're viewing the album, clicking/tapping the icon will add all of the images to your library.

I hope this helps clear things up for you. If you're seeing someone else's pictures in your timeline, that would mean you must've clicked the cloud icon. If you look at that picture's Information panel, you should see the album(s) to which that image belongs. If there's no album listed in the Info panel, that indicates the image is your copy of the picture.

If you own a Pixel 3 (but not a 3A) then the pictures you take and upload with your phone should be uploaded to Google Photos in original quality without reducing your available storage space.

However, original quality pictures and videos you upload to Google Photos from a different device will still count against your available storage.

Also, keep in mind that your available storage is shared between Photos, Drive, and Gmail. So any files you upload to Google Drive will also count against your storage. You can visit the Google One storage page to see what service is using up your available space.

Your camera's GPS saves your location (As per this text, it says 'Hallingskarvet National Park')
Google Photos might estimate a location using information such as your Google Location History (if turned on), which is stored in your Google Account. Check your Google Location History. You can edit or remove a location that was estimated by Google Photos.
You added a location.

If that's not the case and you'd like to remove/edit the location on your photos, please follow these steps:

On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
Open the photo or video.
Click Info .
Next to the location, click Edit .
Add or select the location. You can also select "No location" to remove the location.

You can also edit the location of multiple photos by selecting the photos

Edit location.

Tip: If you turn off Location History, Google Photos will stop estimating and remove all estimated locations on your photos. Learn how to turn Location History off.

They split their servers to only save your photos and they just use Youtube to "hold" your videos. Every time you try to watch a video via the web it is just a redirect to a Youtube page that you have no permission to access. What a scam! Youtube storage is free and unlimited yet Google Photos premium 1TB (2TB with Google One now)of storage is $9.99 a month?

Every "expert" on this community has always trouble shot you failure to play video with a simple "clear you cache" solution and is blaming it on YOU when Google is openly admitting to the "lack of dedicated processing power" to play anything other than previews via the web. I'm sorry, but I think whoever told you that had incorrect information.

There was an issue earlier today streaming Google Photos video on the web.

It seems like it has been fixed (at least it has been for me in Northern California). Sometimes issues or fixes are regional so it might vary a little.

You don't tell, so I must assume that you are trying to use Take-out.

You should deselect all and then only select Photos and only select the albums which are relevant for you.

But if you never have created any albums yourself, you are condemned to use all data which you also can see under Autobackup on https://get.google.com/albumarchive and that can be thousands of folders - partly empty also (deleted pics). So your archive can become too large to get downloaded into your Google Drive instead of your own computer via a link send by mail.

Without precise information it is hardly to tell more about. Be warned that you will get hard to manage garbage: many folder with just a few files and every picturefile also has a json-partner (textfile) which may contain important metadata, especially if you have typed a lot of descriptions on Photos. If not, they can be deleted.

You can see the real storage at Google via https://www.google.com/settings/storage and you should see 3 number: for Drive, for Gmail and for Photos and these values should be stable, unless you are deleting or uploading lots of items everyday.

If you take a look under the Autobackup cover at https://get.google.com/albumarchive you may get an impression what Take-out will deliver you.

With movies included, that probably will be hundreds of gigabytes.

I don't need to use Take-out because I create neat yearalbums on Photos which can be downloaded directly.

Hopefully some other experts will jump-in - your thread is on top now for a some hours.

Did you select only Google Photos as Rinus suggested?

Go to https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout
Click "Select none"
Scroll down to Google Photos and select it, so that the button is blue
Expand the Google Photos menu to see two options:
1. Include all photo albums
2. Select photo albums - you'll have an option to "Toggle all" and choose certain albums
Scroll down further and click "Next"
Choose an archive format and click "Create Archive"

If Google is showing you a list of the missing files, did you try to locate those files and try to download them individually? If that worked, you could then delete those photos from Google Photos, then try Takeout again.

Thanks for posting on the Google Photos Help Community.

I certainly understand the importance of photos and videos on an account. Please know that, when a photo/s is deleted from Google Photos, it would go to Trash/Bin for the next 60 days. If the photos aren't found in Trash, I'm afraid, you might not find it because Trash is the last resort to retrieve your lost/deleted photos.

If something isn't in your trash, it can't be restored. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

Moved it to trash more than 60 days ago
Moved it to trash, then emptied your trash
Permanently deleted it from your trash.
Permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without being backed up.

Abidur, deleted Photos are stored in Trash for up to 60 days, if you delete Photos again from trash, that's two times deletion.

Item size: Photos larger than 75MB or 100MP, videos larger than 2GB, and items smaller than 256 x 256 can't be backed up.
Slow network connection: Your device might have a slow or no network connection.
Unsupported file type: See which file types can be backed up.

You may also upload the videos manually to Google Photos from your browser:

On your device, open photos.google.com on a browser.
At the top right, click Upload arrow.
Find and select your videos.
Click Open.
