A few months ago i removed my google photos folder from my google drive as i didn't want it there. That really wasn't a good idea. Immediately in Google Photos I get trouble with my shared albums. Almost every shared album I can click the download photos to my library, but it never disappears and says I can download some images. After some trouble I took the loss and left it that way. 

One month later I wanted to backup all photos from Google Photos to my NAS, I then had to turn on my Google Photos in Google Drive. After I did that only new photos are synced to that folder, so problem one is I can't download my whole collection from Google Photos now and second is the photos that are synced to Google Drive are all corrupt/broken. 

I hope there are other people with this problem.

Coincidentally, I brought along my older phone and continued taking pictures with it. Now, the only photos showing in my Google photos account are the ones taken with my old phone. There is a gap in my timeline from June until present when I converted to my new phone. However, I know my new phone had been backing up over the last 5 months because I was receiving weekly emails from Google photos with collage recaps. Good morning. Signing out of your Google account on the phone you're currently using will not have an impact on your other devices. 
 
If your pictures are not visible on the Google Photos website then they were either not actually backed up or they were backed up to a different account. Double-check which account you are logged into, and check any other accounts you have as well. Also, if you were sharing your phone with somebody, see if that person added their account and check there, too.

Hi, I have also tried to do this. I lost my Google Pixel 3a (which naturally had the google photos app). When I logged into my google photos account on my new phone they were not there, nor in the drive or on the google.photos section. They have not been deleted, etc.
I've lost 3 years of photos as a result.

This seems to be a recurring failure from Google given the amount of posts on this topic, so I can see that they have failed to answer anyone on this issue. 
I have been waiting almost 2 months now to receive an explanation. Every single time I receive an email saying "we will respond to you soon". Sorry you are having issues. Is your entire phone acting this way? 

If so, please go to your phone's Settings app, then open Accessibility, then turn Color Inversion OFF. 

It might be called Invert Colors, or something similar.

I download all my new photos taken by my Olympus camera and i-phone to "Photos" on my mac. Then I organise them into albums and  also export selected photos from there to create an album in Google Photos, which I then up-load and share with friends. 
I find it annoying that to be able to add/see a short subtext to some photos, I  have to write the same text in both the "Add a description" box and "Add a title"  in Photos before exporting them to Google Photos. If I only put the text in "Add a title" the text/subtitle under the photo will only be visible in Photos, NOT in Google Photos and if I only put the text in the "Add a description" the text/subtitle will only be visible in Google Photos but NOT in Photos. Is there an easier way?? 
But my main issue and that is far more annoying,  is that since I bought a new camera, an Olympus, and upload my photos from Photos on my mac to Google Photos, the text OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA pops automatically up in the Google Photos box for "Add a description"!! This happens ONLY to the photos from the Olympus camera to which I haven't put any personal text/subtitle in either "Add a Title" or Add a description" before importing them to Google Photos. Strangely, this does NOT happen to the i-phone photos I import the same way at the same time nor did it happen before when I had a Sony and Canon camera... Then when not adding any text/subtitle, the "Add a description" box was left in default - as it should for all photos without a personal text.  But now, it is really annoying that the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA text is shown at the bottom of all the photos (except those I have manually renamed before). WHY is this happening?? It takes me a looong time to manually erase the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA text from the "Add a description" box on so many photos. Surely there must be a setting to avoid this text showing up automatically in the "Add a description" box - but where and how do I do it?? Grateful for any help with this annoying issue. Cheers!
