Hi Jeevan,

I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

In addition I recommend that you contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Just open the Google Drive https://support.google.com/drive/?hl=en&authuser=0#topic=14940&contact=1 contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.

I'm trying to edit a video I have on Google Photos, and whenever I press the edit icon, I am told "Can't download video, Device storage is full".

The video is 94mb and I have 1.9gb of free space on my phone. I've already tried uninstalling and installing the app, with no effect.

What's going on?

Answer:

It's a really frustrating error.
I've got an 800mb video in the cloud, that I want to download or edit. I've now freed up 5.2gb on my device. Google photos still tells me "device storage is full" - it clearly isn't!
I've tried the "Download" option to get the video on my phone, and after about 10 minutes of downloading, it tells me "download unsuccessful" - not very helpful.

Answer:

Yep me too, the video size is like a tenth of my available storage space. I literally just took the video, where it was stored on my phone, and now can't download it after freeing up space.

This page isn't working
video-downloads.googleusercontent.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

Receiving the above error when i'm trying to downloa photos from the album which i created yesterday only. I want to download the pics from that album. I'm able to download pics from other albunms.

Tried using incognito,iOS and android, it fails for all.

Answer:

Perhaps the albums contains a long video's which still being processed by Google - that easily can take days. Else no other explanation.
But it is a bit unclear why you need to download your own album (as a zip).
And if you use the word album correctly, you also must be able to select a couple of pictures in https://photos.google.com in your laptop browser and then select download under the 3 dots.

Answer:

I am trying to download one single picture from a shared album that we created month ago and get the error 500 that is all we know crap. I can right click and do a save as and it works.

Answer:

  1. Limiting download < 500 items at a time worked.
  2. In addition, a video had been uploaded with no content (displayed 0.00 for duration).  Once it was deleted, the rest of an album was downloadable.

Answer:

Help.  I am getting "This page isn't working
video-downloads.googleusercontent.com is currently unable to handle this request.

I wonder if I'm allowed to store my adult porn backup in Gdrive. I ran out of space on my Macbook and I'm looking for a cheap and reliable way to store my videos and pictures. None of them contain any illegal or forbidden stuff. I'm a bit afraid because I've read several times that porn has been removed by Google and I don't want to lose my files.

Answer:

Good afternoon.

Yes, you can store all the porn you want to in your Google Drive and/or Google Photos. There should be no risk of your files getting deleted, provided you are not publicly sharing that content, especially if you are not the copyright owner. But, if you're just looking for a place to store your archives, you should be fine uploading them to Google Photos or Drive.

I forgot my pw to my Google acct & had to make temp one to setup new phone. Recovered & added normal one. Delete temp one & set my normal one as primary

Answer:

Hi Synthia Nickle,

Welcome to the Photos help forum.

Please correct me if I haven't understood clearly,
  1. You created a temporary account as you didn't have access to your old account.
  2. Now you have gained access to your original account and added it to your phone.
  3. Now you want to change the backup account to your actual recovered email ID. Am I right?
Kindly let me know. Thank you.

Answer:

Hi there,

Now please follow steps below,
  1. Open your Google Photos app > Settings
  2. Tap to choose Backup & Sync > Backup account
  3. Now in the appearing screen, tap on your temporary email ID which will let you choose between two of your accounts.
  4. Choose your original account.
  5. Here on, all your photos would get backed up back to your primary account.
Does that help? Looking forward for your reply. Thank you.

I had a Picassa account with an email - that email is no longer in use as well as domain is retired so can't use it to connect or recover.  I tried recovery using old email but that didn't work either.

Until now, I could see the Picassa albums of that old account but suddenly I see the message "you have reached the end of albums".  I guess that is because I am no longer signed in with the old Picassa email - is that right?  If so, how do I recover an account without having access to email, domain, and other info?

The archive is large in many GBs so don't want to lose it and have to upload everything again.  Please help Google, if you are monitoring this.  Thanks.

Answer:

It is unclear if you still can log-in with that old account on https://get.google.com/albumarchive or that you only a general link which only did show your public albums. And perhaps all albums were set to public in those years for the ease of having one link for all.
But due to some other recent complains, it looks like Google has set these albums to private to get rid of that stuff for public websearch and if you can't log-in anymore, you can't see them.
If you never has downloaded these albums to your computer, I don't know how to solve this problem.
No Google here either.
Sorry

PS: I don't have this problem because I always have used the same Gmail-account since 2006.

Answer:

No, since I do NOT have access to the old email, I can't login using that old email anymore - this should clarify that confusion.  I only have a general link - which doesn't show anything anymore.

Do you know how do I get in touch with Google - they are the most unreachable company I know.  I want to ask them to link these albums to my current email.  Thanks.

Answer:

As far as I know a non Gmail-account can consist of any e-mailadress plus password, even if that adres is not in use anymore. But I only can refer to this garbage

If I use my general link to get.google.com/albumarchive I don't see anything at all either and that is a bit strange because before I saw my public profile picture at least.
But if I log-in with my Gmail-account (used since 2006), I see all my (old) albums and more.

Sorry that I can't be of further help and we can't help that Google is terribly userunfriendly either - that is a daily problem in this "community" also and therefore many problems can't be solved.

Hi Roger LIN,

Once you delete them from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash. You can try a few options that might help recover some but not 100% guaranteed.
  • Contact the Google Drive team and say you want to recover files - click on the contact us option on this link.
  • You can try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available. I can't recommend any as haven't used one personally but some people do have success that way.

The popup "Archive this Photo" pops up at the bottom of the photo on most of my photos. The only way to get rid of it is to tap the x on the popup, but I have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME. I DO NOT want to Archive my photos. I NEVER HAVE wanted to Archive my photos. And I never will WANT to Archive my photos. If I wanted to hide my photos, I would just simply delete them and not have to worry about them. I have never used the archive function on any app that has ever offered it and I likely never will. Hell, is there a way to disable the archive "feature" altogether? I have seen other posts about this popup and there has yet to be a solution. Before anyone says anything, yes, I have already updated the app to the latest version and I have turned off assistant cards to suggest archival. These were suggestions made by the admins in a previous similar post, and they do NOT help and there has yet to be a helpful answer in that thread as well. Super frustrating, I expect a lot more from Google.

Answer:

Hello Tommy, you shouldn't be getting this popup unless it's a meme and/or a photo of a document/object.

Actual photos that feature people and/or landscapes wouldn't get this popup.

Answer:

But it always is wise to view the options in the settings of the Photos-app under Assistent, because there you should be able to switch-off suggestions for archiving.
If not present in the app, you can do that in the browser via https://photos.google.com/settings

But I also agree with Salim that you must have a lot of abnormal pictures, which you normally would prefer to get hided between normal pictures - like technical screenshots :-)

The word "archiving" is a bit too serious - it just is a set-apart folder in the main menu.

Alison, there should be no need to transfer photos from one phone to another. Google Photos is intended to upload all photos to your google account in the cloud. From then on any new device you get just needs the Google Photos app installed and set to use the same Google account (username and password).
  • On your old phone: Open the Google Photos app, tap on the 3-line menu then settings
  • Tap Backup and Sync - make sure it's turned on, note the Account name it is using
  • View your photos, check for "Backup Complete" message
  • On your new phone: Open Google Photos, tap 3-line menu
  • Note the account name at the top - if it is the same as the one used on your old phone for Backup, you should be seeing all the same photos.

My sister-in-law owns a company called Mckenna brothers construction.  I took some family photographs at their home and now every photograph I've ever taken Displays on a thumbnail with their business.  I have stopped all sharing and app permissions I deleted photo albums in I don't know what else to do how do I get these pictures to stop associating with their businesses?

Answer:

Hi,

If you use the Google My Business app on your phone, launch to Google My Business, go to Settings and turn off option to show photos for starters.

You may need to go to the Google Map, and if you are owner of that business, delete or flag inappropriate images by opening images within your Google Maps listing and then selecting the flag icon.

Also If you have location turned on for your camera, and the images are taken within your business, (ex it's a home based service business) you may get pop up messages adding if you want to post it / share the images, select decline to keep the images from automatically being posted to the business.

Is otherwise to my knowledge there is nothing within Google Photos that would cause this to happen. If your business account is used for Google Photos, it may be possible that you are the only one seeing the i imagesfor that location, but based on your description I was able to locate the business listing your mentioned and could see an image of a dining table, so at least those are public until you remove them or flag them.

Best wishes

Joe

Confused, I opened up my Camera folder in Google Photos on my phone, and voila - there was the photo, between two other photos, that on the Web version didn't have any photos between them.
I manually uploaded the specific photo to an album from my phone, which caused it to appear in the library in the web version.
However, this caused me to think - maybe there are other "forgotten" photos??
I counted all the photos from the trip on my Camera folder - 317 photos.
Counted all the photos from the trip in my library - 316! (including the one I just uploaded - meaning two photos were missing originally, and there was still one missing now!)
I tried getting over this issue by selecting all the photos on my phone and uploading them to a new album, hoping Google would identify the photo that wasn't uploaded and upload it.
Strangely enough, the new album had only 315 photos in it (meaning that BOTH photos that were missing originally were missing in the new album, too).
A few minutes later, my library updated and had 317 photos in it (phew), but the new album I created still had only 315 - monkey business.
Another quirk is that about half an hour has passed and my special photo (the one I identified and uploaded manually) is still in "partial upload" on Photos.

Googly experts - what say you?

I'm trying to make a movie from afew video clips. I made one a week ago and now it seems it has stopped working. I go and select my clips and hit the create button. It says processing and downloading clips. But then instead of opening the editor it closes and if I go to my photos it shows the thumbnail of the movie. If I click on it it does the same thing as before, says it's downloading clips and then closes.
