Starting last month, 2 of my pictures have been uploaded for all to see without my knowledge nor consent. I did not upload these pictures to the public. Does it matter that the pictures were just food or a building? Yes because if these were uploaded without me knowing WHAT ELSE IS!? It is not right that our only option is to "remove/delete" the picture if we do not want it shared. We should get the option BEFORE it is uploaded.
I tried going into my settings on Google maps and my archive settings and cannot find where to make my pictures private. How can I and others with this problem (because there are a lot of others) prevent this in the future?

There is absolutely no way to prevent anyone from taking a screen shot of anything that appears on their computer screen, editing it, and then uploading it somewhere else. Watermarks can help identify your work but even that doesn't actually prevent it.

For the Google Photos application, your images are private until you share them. Be careful when adding to shared albums, etc. and pay attention to any popup notifcations for suggested sharing. You can turn off Notifications for suggested by sharing by opening Google Photos > Left Menu > Settings > Notifications and toggling off the notificaiton for suggested sharing. (The dot icon will turn from blue to grey.)
Occassionally, in Google Maps, for example, you may get a pop up notification to share photos of food or locations. Briefly, you can go to Maps > Left Menu > Settings > Personal Content. For more in-depth trouble shooting related to Google Maps, please visit their help community.

Unfortunately, I permanently delete all my very important photos including those with my wife who was died in a car accident last week at just 30 years old.
I'm 100% deleted them from the trash bin (permanently) which is so stupid, but now I have to get them back and didn't find a way to do that. As far as I know, Google Photos doesn't offer backup so in case I deleted them from the trash bin they gone forever.
I tried some "photo recovery" apps (mobile & desktop), I contacted with Google by email, phone and chat, but none of that helped.
Is someone here have any idea of what can I do with this terrible situation, I'll remind you forever!

I recently started using Google Photos and is loved it for its face recognition and other pretty stuffs. I thought about backing up my entire library to Google Photos.
I checked out the option in Google Drive to have a folder named Google Photos in the Drive and the photos uploaded to that folder in Drive do not add up to my available storage quota of Google Drive. But these photos do not appear in the Google Photos app or in the web. Is there any way I can get those photos synced to my Google Photos. Yes, I have enabled that option in Google Photos that says sync photos from Google Drive. I have uploaded some photos to Google Photos directly and I can see them in my Google Photos folder in my Drive. They are grouped by years in which the photos were taken. Can I reorganize those photos in that folder without disturbing the functioning of Google Photos?
And another problem I have noticed is when I upload my old photos from my Android device, they get added to the Photos app with the date with which I transferred that photo to my phone and not with the date on which the photo was taken. I have a decent WiFi at home and I use a laptop and cant bring it home everyday to my home. I would prefer to upload the photos from my phone. So is there any way to fix this problem?

Just to clear up a misunderstanding, any photo uploaded from your computer to Google Drive will use storage space from your quota.
Please take a look at this post from a colleague and his views on using the Google Photos folder
To further support not using the folder, since the Google Photos icon was removed from Drive, photos uploaded to existing system created folders have not been synced to Google Photos.
If you are happy to use full quota, then I recommend you create a new folder in My Drive and organise it in a way of your choice, knowing that the photos will sync to Google Photos in the library by photo date, assuming the photos contains standard Exif data.

I will deal with the last question separately, adding photos to an Android device results in the creation of placeholders dated at the time of the addition and this needs to be resolved by disconnecting your account from the Google Photos app followed by reconnecting the account and waiting for the placeholders to be rebuilt to match the online dates.

This is the exact problem I faced.
I have a couple of video files from around 2000s. They contain proper date of creation related information. I uploaded some of them from my lap and it was present in the Google Photos both in web and mobile app with proper date in timeline. Whereas the remaining videos I uploaded from my Android device directly using the share function in my file manager which says Upload to Photos. After uploading them I checked back again in both app and web version of Google Photos to see them present in the timeline with the date on which I transferred those videos from my laptop to Phone.
What could be the possible fix for this? Its not kinda practical to change the date information of all those videos back manually.

I can find certain videos by creating a description string in google drive for the file. Then searching for that description in photos. Bam, video found, and I can manually fix the date / time the video was taken and it will now show up in proper chronological order in Google photos.
But they aren't all there. I just created a description for a video and when I go search in photos it is simply not there anywhere? How can I get these video to show up in Google Photos? One question I have, is...Is there a video size limit?
The videos have been stored on my Google Drive for 2+ years, but I only turned the setting on to sync Google Drive -> Google photos for videos about 4 days ago.

Hi Fayad Nazim,
When you delete Photos from Google Photo it also deletes them from your phone as you've found out, hopefully they're still in your bin. If they're not in your bin then you won't be able to get them back from Google Photos, first you'll need to check to see if they're still in your bin. You can find out how to do this by following the instructions at this link here.
There are apps that you can use on Android that may be able to restore deleted files, if you click this link here it'll take you a Play Store search for restoring deleted photos, you'll be able can find the highest rated apps to see if they help.

Every once in a while, when I try to edit a picture in google photos on my google pixel 2. The image appears upside down. As soon as i exit edit mode, the picture turns the right way up. Why does this happen? Its not a massive issue but very strange especially that it only happens with certain photos. If i flip the picture the right way up in editing mode when I save and exit, the picture is upside down.

HEIC is a proprietary Apple photo format and Windows does not yet recognise them. You will have to search for a suitable HEIC to JPG converter before being able to see them on your Computer,

I tried to move all my picasa images a couple weeks ago. I kept receiving errors saying: The file "_DSC2149.JPG" couldn't be opened because there is no such file. However I could still pull up the pics in my then working picasa. I hadn't figured out how to move those files yet when this happened.

Now Picasa is dead, the metadata such as name tags, collections etc. are lost. But you can still find the original photos if you search your mac for files with *.jpg extension.

The problem with this complaint is that there exist no Picasa-pics at all - there only exists normal picture-files in normal folders in the finder and these will not get lost by any update - else you also would loose any other documents not related to Picasa at all.
So there exist no "_DSC2149.JPG" file, but just a normal DSC2149.JPG file and without any special reason, you always should have a copy on external disc - that's why a Mac Timemachine exist - just because every computer can die suddenly - also a Mac.
But what can get lost is the edited version of your files and any thematic albums ("blue books") and any personsalbums - because these are not saved in normal files but in the hidden Picasa-database and that get lost. However albums on Picasaweb should still be visible on Google Photos (photos.google.com) if you still use the same Google-account, because Picasaweb itself was closed in 2016.
There is no modern version of Picasa available for up-to-date Macs - for Windows-10 the very last version still works correctly, but its connection to Google was broken in 2018. But for local use it is still perfect.
I am fading-out here, so any further discussion should be taken over by other volunteers (no Google here).

Hi everyone. On the last day of my holiday (04/07/2018) my Samsung S8+ was stolen. I was hopeful my photos were held on Google Photos, considering I had set my phone to auto backup and I had a daily Wifi connection for 7+ hours.
However, to my disappointment and upset, I have looked on Google Photos to find it has only backed up to 26/06/2018. There is nothing beyond this. That's the vast majority of my holiday photos- gone.
Can anybody suggest anything? I cannot remotely backup my photos from the device as it's now turned off.
I am really desperate for my photos and am extremely disappointed. Please help :(

Sorry to hear your phone was stolen! Did you change your Google account password since then? Probably would be a good idea to do that.
When you sign into your Photos account, did you look in the "Recently added" area?:

You might want to also check your Google Drive account to see if possibly the photos are there:

I'm getting increasingly more upset and angry that my photos have not been uploaded. This was a holiday that we saved for a considerable period, the first as a married couple. And the majority of my photos are gone. What was the point in signing up for Google photos for them not to back up?

I wonder if the backups never finished uploading during the times you had a Wifi connection. I know when I'm on vacation, the hotel internet connection can be really slow, and even letting it run overnight, the photos still didn't get uploaded. One hotel would turn off their internet about 11 pm and not turn it back on until morning.
Unfortunately, if the photos were never totally uploaded to Google Photos, there's no one that could help get them for you. When the phone was stolen, there's also the chance the thief deleted your photos and cleared the Trash.
Though Google Photos is handy for uploading photos and sharing, it shouldn't ever be considered as a backup. When you upload then clear the phone, the uploaded photos are the only copy - not a back up.
