Although the photos appear on my app they are not yet on my google photos account when I log in via the computer. THe photos that do not appear have two small white arrows in a circle in the bottom right corner. Also, it appears that old photos- from last year- are still being backed up (as I can see on the displaly icon while it says "backing up". The number of photos "backing up" is constantly changing from 8,000 back up to 11,000 and sometimes even back up to 14,000 so it is difficult to monitor the process. I am connected to wifi and have cellular on. The back up is taking days!

Your symptoms indicate you are backing up a large iCloud library to Google Photos and it is a long process, and you will have to wait until it is complete before things settle down,

Google Photos and iCloud Photos don't really talk to each other much, all of this stuff just happens in the background automatically. When Google Photos asks for a photo, iCloud knows it needs to download it first so it does. Then when your phone fills up it knows it needs to clear off space.
It should pretty much manage itself without needing to do much. When you're totally done syncing with Google, you can just leave your phone and let iCloud delete the downloaded photos when it needs space.

The problem is that without the Select All feature, clicking Download creates a 2 G file of the first several images. But I have more than 100 G of photos. This is the original problem I came here to solve. Selecting the first and then scrolling to the last photo and selecting a range does not help. It can only create a 2 G file apparently. The only solution I can find is to select many ranges of photos, 2G at a time (as if it is even possible to know). As you might imagine, each zip creation takes a long time and then the download takes a VERY long time and doing 50 of them takes days or weeks. This is just insane! I wonder if anyone at Google has heard of FTP?

I do have access to windows, android, and iOS so I can do this any way that helps.
Short explanation (long essay explanation below): at the bottom is a photo of my stereo I take pictures of all the time. I'm trying to figure out what google "thinks" it is. I thought I had found them all using many different key words and I deleted the multiple consecutive shots I took and saved only the best one of each to put in a folder since I can't permanently delete them from the folder. If I was looking for an image on the internet using Google's reverse image search it'd give you a multitude of them . I wish we could do the same for our own photos in google photos.
How do I find them ALL so I can weed out the duplicates and move them to the folder I want them in?
Long explanation: Basically I take pictures of my car stereo constantly. I've been putting them in an album when I have time, I remember, etc. but, I've had to use a lot of key words to find them. Since Google won't duplicate the same picture in an album this works well. But the older the camera, it is typical for me to take multiple consecutive shots of the stereo hoping one will be clearer, then I'd like to delete the extras. I can't permanently delete them from the album so it has to be by search or scrolling through all my pictures. How do I find out EXACTLY WHAT google thinks my stereo (picture #1) is and the keywords that can best find ALL of the photos.
I've posted two photos.
The first picture is with my newer camera and a picture of what I am looking for.
The second one shows an example of some stereos I've used that were located during a variety of searches.
I've found them under electronics, stereo, radio, screen, text, blue, digital, clock, screen, tv, buttons and a ton of others. I've gone pretty out there with the keywords I have used. Electronics was the most effective.
I've considered some pretty long routes to accomplish this.
How can I find them all so I can pick the best one and delete the junky/consecutive ones so I can get them in their folder and I can maintain better order in the future?
In the mean time I'll go to the desktop and run some through reverse image search to find out any relevant tags I may have overlooked. I know several workarounds but they're all difficult and time consuming.

This is a question I have not seen answered in a way I understand. One way I have used is to create a dummy Blog in Blogger and upload a photo to it. You can then right click and 'copy link address' which gives you a usable URL. That's about as far as my knowledge goes, I will be happy if anyone else can chime in,

I only know one other way which maybe more comfortable also:
- On Google Photos create a small album with the best concert photos and don't use that album for sharing.
- Use Take-out for Photos only and use the option to be able to select that album only. See https://www.google.com/settings/takeout for your account.
- Download that "archive" and unzip the folder to get access to your picturefiles (the zip can be deleted then).
- Open the JSON-file of a picture in a simple texteditor like WordPad and select the url shown like below:
- Copy and paste the url in your application and then change /s0-d/ into /s800/ if you want the pics downsized to 800 pixels wide to prevent to much space (it stays original size at /s0/ )
- Thereafter you can do the same with the JSON-file of the next picture - etc. etc.

If you go that route it is trouble free, when accepting the share select automatically add to library and leave overnight to finish the share.
Enable the Drive option to create a Google Photos folder in My Drive then use the Google Drive sync option to download to your hard disk or wherever you choose.
Once set up you can leave it active to automatically download any newly added photos

My Apple photo library is 112GB and the backup that was done on google photo (original quality) says that I am using 3.85GB... So my question is: Is it possible that even if I chose to backup original quality, the photos / videos that are lower than what the «free high quality» would be doesnt count against my paid storage?
Planning to do the switch from iPhone to Android so I am migrating all my services from apple ecosystem to Google's but need to make sure things are done right !

I had to turn off automatic uploads to Google Photos on my computer because I found it was duplicating every single photo (not sure why).

NO. When you upload in "Original" quality, ALL photos count for storage.
Not sure what may have happened. A few options:
- You may have uploaded in "High Quality". The setting "Original" must be done in the app used for uploading. For example when you use "Backup & Sync" you must set "Original" in that app, and not in the settings https://photos.google.com/settings. You can check that by comparing the file size in Google Photos with the one of the originals on your computer.
- The indication of used storage is not yet updated. That is a common issue: also after deleting photos it takes time to get the correct usage.

Thanks for correcting my theory about the original vs high quality storage... It was a supposition but I was wrong!
As for the upload quality, I have checked both places (backup and sync as well as web app for google photo settings) and both are set to original.
So this leaves me with maybe waiting for the file size to increase...
Other thing I have realized is that even if backup and sync says that the backup is complete, I see many partial uploaded photos on my iPhone in google photo app... I have started another backup from the iPhone... maybe those partial files (why are they're partial files even is backup and sync says complete, I don't know!) does not count as actual data for now and might do when the iPhone uploads them a second time...
Pictures and videos are quite important and I have lots of them... Want to make sure that I'm confident in the backup / google system before I can rely on it and delete from apple photo! Of course I'll do a hard drive backup before just in case ;-) But hey, in 2019 we tend to rely on online backup more than physical one and rely on the company that owns the servers to have those servers backed up all over the world! ;-)

Excellent. I would NEVER trust having my photos ONLY on Google Photos. A real backup (no two-way syncing), whether it is hard drive or another cloud, is the only safety.

If you're referring to the folder views in the Google Drive Android app, the only options are the list view and the thumbnail view. You can switch between them by tapping the icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
If you're looking at your Drive on the website, you can change the view (Comfortable, Cozy, or Compact) by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner, clicking Settings, then choosing your option next to Density.

You just need to select all the photos you want to bring back, on desktop you hold shift to select a bunch, on mobile you hold down on one photo and drag down, then just press the three dots and choose restore.
Everything you want should then reappear in your main library.

Picasa3 is a program on the computer to organize and edit photos. There is not something like a Picasa3 account. But from Picasa3 you could upload to Picasa Web Albums, which was linked to a Google account.
I say "was" because Picasa Web Albums no longer exists. The photos uploaded to Picasaweb should now be in https://photos.google.com/albums and https://get.google.com/albumarchive. You need to sign in to the same account you used for uploading.

2. Is there a way to make it so that only ONE (maybe 2) account is linked to the google photos on my phone making it impossible to access my photos from my phone through my work account? I want to have access to google drive and gmail for work but I don't want the photos to upload to that account. I am almost always linked into my google drive for work instead of personal but I want to always be on my personal account instead of work for photos.

Hi Christy, the only effective way to transfer the photos from your work account is to share the library and auto add the photos to your personal Google Photos account's library.
2. If you go to the iOS Google Photos and tap the 3 bar menu option:> Settings (Gear icon) you can select the account you wish to use as backup. That account will stick so there is no need to restrict other account access as any other account will only be able to view their own photos. The backup account will remain as you set it.

You can stop the automatic upload in Backup and Sync preference as per the screenshot <visible online>
To delete in bulk go to https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ where the photos will be grouped by upload date, hovering over the date you can select it and delete up to 500 at a time,
