Hello Marta,
Welcome to the Google Photos Support Community.
Please confirm if you're having the same issue on a Google Photos app (if possible).
Meanwhile, also try giving the below steps a try once again in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
- Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos (photos.google.com) with the same Google Account.
- Try Incognito/private window.
- Disable extensions/add-ons/plug-ins.
- Try a different browser to see if it is a browser related issue.
Let me know how it goes.
Best,
Amanda

I have created an album and shared it with myself via email link. When I open the album I can also see who else has the link - I want to hide that information.
Answer:
Hi USAG Ireland!
If you are an album owner, you can see information about those recipients with whom you share the album. This is normal, because you send them an invitation.
But other members in this album can not see the personal data of other people, but only if they themselves are friends. Then they already know each other's data.
If they are extraneous to each other, they can not see each other's e-mails.
Answer:
When I open an album in an incognito (=private) window I can see the names of those who "JOINED" the album. I do not know of a way to prevent this, except by asking the invitees to NOT join the album.

Answer:
Hello Jesse,
Welcome to the Google Photos Support Community.
I'll be happy to help you. Please confirm the step how the photos were shared. When someone shares a photo/album with you:
- You may receive an email, or in-app notification, depending on the way it was shared.
- When you click a link to see the album, your profile image in the album will light up and a notification will be sent to the sharer. Learn how to leave an album.
- If you were shared to by email or phone number, and you join the album, your profile image will change to your Google Account profile image.
- Learn more about who can share with you.
- If you think someone is spamming you, you can block or report them.
See albums you've shared or joined:
- On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
- On the left, click Sharing.
- Under "Shared," you can see your shared albums and sharing activity, like comments and recently added photos. New sharing activity will be in bold.
To see people you've shared an album with:
- Open the photo, video, or album you shared.
- Click More
Sharing options.
Here's a help article to share photos & videos in Google Photos for your reference. Also, this article will let you know more on how to get suggestions to share with your contacts.
Keep me posted.

Hi David McArthur,
Thank you for posting to the Google Photos Forum today, it's unusual that you're not able to send or share these video's.
How long has it been since you restored them? Do they play okay, did they play okay before you deleted them? Have you tried sharing/sending from both app and website? What error message when you try to share/send?

Kind of hard to explain so I will give an example:
- My coworker emails me photo, 'machine1'
- I download this photo to my laptop and place in folder, 'Customer1'
- My laptop has Backup and Sync, so now 'machine1' photo shows up in my Google Photos
- I also take a picture of the machine, lets just all this 'machine2'. This photo gets backed up to my google photos account automatically as well, (Pixel phone).
Now I have THOUSANDS of work photos in my Google photos that I want to purge. But I DONT want to delete them from Google Photos if they are tied to a folder on my laptop.
Is there anway to tell if a photo in google photos resides in a backed up folder?
So for example, it would be OK for me to delete 'machine2'. But if I deleted 'machine1', it would also delete it from 'Customer1' folder when my laptop sycned again. Is there anyway I can tell that 'machine1' photo resides in 'Customer1' folder, while 'machine2' photo is only present in Google photos?

Hi Jim Avila,
Thank you for posting to the Google Photos Forum today, personally I'd do a search for every jpeg, jpg, png file on my computer. I'd then move these all to a new folder on my computer. Then I'd go to www.photos,google.com, and back up everything from my new folder.
The duplicate detection should make sure that if something was backed up once, then it won't be backed up again. Once I get confirmation that everything is backed up, then I'll delete it from my PC.
Is this something that would work for you?
Have a lovely day.
Answer:
Mark,
That doesn't really solve my problem., as my ultimate goal is to only have the pictures saved in their respective folders as opposed to being in their folders and also in my google photos.
Maybe I can explain this another way.
If I "create" a picture on my laptop, place it in a folder that is backed up to my Google Drive through Backup and Sync, does that picture also appear in Google Photos?
I'd like to keep my DRIVE and PHOTOS separate. So if I sync a photo to DRIVE, it does NOT also now appears in PHOTOS.

I accidentally deleted my photos from my trash in Google Photos. I reached out to the Google Drive team for support and was informed I contact the Google Photos team since I deleted the photos via Google Photos.
There are over hundreds of photos that I accidentally deleted from the trash, in case you need the URL of the photo album it's https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipNC6Y7GzGzB3rTfhHnFmf5U9KqDG3J8JjmNkI6Q. This contains photos taken over a year and half. If you need the filenames, it'd be difficult since my phone saves the pictures as `20190908_172840` which is photo taken on 2019-09-08 around 5:28 PM.
The photos were deleted/removed from the trash between 05th November and 9th November.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Tenzin

Hello Mohammed,
Welcome to the Google Photos Support Community.
If you've deleted them from Google Photos and want to restore them, please know that photos/videos deleted from the Google Photos library, goes to the Trash for the next 60 days. So, in case, you deleted it by mistake you can always restore it from Trash folder within those 60 days (post deletion). But, if you don't find it in Trash, probably it must have been deleted more that 60 days ago. Unfortunately, restoring your lost/deleted photos and videos from Trash is the last resort.

Hi Tenzin,
Deleting from the trash is permanent, so there's no way you can retrieve them from within the Google photos app now.
Maybe if these photos were taken on your phone you could try using a photo recovery app on your phone to see if that helps get done back. You can find lots on the Play store/ ios store to try.

Hi Nur,
I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.
In addition I recommend that you contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Just open the Google Drive https://support.google.com/drive/?hl=en&authuser=0#topic=14940&contact=1 contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.

Hi, I deleted my photos from trash of "Google Photos" and the drive specialist team is unable to help me recover it, is there a way i can get those photos back please
Answer:
Hi,
If you have deleted photos from your trash folder, the chances are very high they are gone for good. The only real option is to try Google Takeout (takeout.google.com) and see if you can recover them there.

i synced my phone to google, i checked that the photos were on my account before removing the account from the phone, i have checked trash, not there, i've contacted service provider, no help, i have checked account thoroughly, i cant find the photos, i did not delete the photos but i assume the photos were deleted when i removed the account from the phone, how to i recover?
Answer:
HI,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos community.
If you deleted the account from your phone that was associated with your Google Photos account, the behavior you are seeing is normal. This is part of the privacy mechanisms Google has in place. The only way to get them back on your phone would be to re-add that account back to it.

Thanks for reply, i factory reset my phone straight after i removed the account, I added the account back, im not sure if there is any way to recover those files
Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the clarification. It is possible that your photos had not had a chance to sync up yet with the cloud side of Google Photos. If that is the case, they were on the device only and are lost.
In this situation the next time, prior to removing your account from your phone, use the Free Up Space feature in Google Photos. That will assure that a sync has happened with the photos on your phone. Then you can reset it (or delete the account) and all will be backed up.
Sorry I don't have better news.

Answer:
I did do this, all the photos on my phone were gone as expected after i done the free up space, i then did the factory reset, i understood they were then safely stored, but not anymore

Hi,
I'm not sure what to suggest here. I can't replicate the behavior on my test phone.
Have you try to see if you can recover them from Google Takeout? Takeout.google.com

Erwin,
How did you upload ? Manually to https://photos.google.com/ or to an album ?
If not I would try that, for example by drag & drop or by using the UPLOAD album.
If you already did I would drag & drop small batches to see what happens.

I did a big back up of important images and videos to Google photos and then used the free up space option to save 40gb of space. After i did the free up space I cannot find lots of the back up files in google photos. It's weird this has happened because it says that those that have been backed up won't be lost in Google photos. I would like some help to recover them because they are important to me. Thanks

Question: Hi dear
Hi nitin singh 5396,
First of you you should check the Trash; any photos that were previously backed up and deleted less than 60 days ago will be in there.
Also see Help article: See if you can restore deleted photos & videos
If they are not, can I ask how you usually back up your photos and where from? It maybe the case they potentially weren't backed up fully previously.
Once you delete them from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash. You can try a few options that might help recover some but not 100% guaranteed.
- Contact the Google Drive team and say you want to recover files - click on the contact us option on this link.
- You can try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available. I can't recommend any as haven't used one personally but some people do have success that way.

My reply was intended to signal that there may be more photos on your account than just the ones on Google Photos. You can see them in the Album Archive. When you delete photos, they are NOT deleted IMMEDIATELY from Google's servers, which allows them to recover photos that were accidentally removed from trash. But it seems that this is only possible within 2-3 weeks, which seems to indicate that they are no longer kept. But I am afraid that we don't know for sure. We are users trying to help but do not get that info from google. Sorry.

Similarly one tag of photos which were moved to bin and taken back are not being grouped with the new pictures any more. Ive tried all possible ways that I've seen Google suggested on your forums.. I'm not going to toggle my group face option again and loose all tags again. It would be nice also if Google could allow us to manually also tag pictures. Because there are a ton of photos that don't get sorted and are left lost too.

Question: Do google emoloyees have access to our photos backed up in google.? If no then who groups picture?
Hi Dvs Laya,
Thanks for posting to the forum today, all the tagging in your photos is done automatically by Googles automatic machine learning algorithm. This is done without a human having to look at your photos/videos.
You can see a video here showing how this all works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHvf7Tagt18
Hope this all makes sense, take care.
