Hi,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos community.
Your question is related to Facebook and your phone's camera gallery, not Google Photos. We can't really help on this one. I'd suggest contacting Facebook to see how to stop this from happening.

Hi Jessica,
Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!
Assuming the message is from Google Photos, you should see what is being shared in the "Sharing" section of the app or https://photos.google.com/u/0/sharing
If you see a "Shared library" entry near the top of of the list, it is most important. Click on it, navigate to Shared Library Settings and "Remove partner"..
If you see shared Albums, you can navigate to "Options" from the 3 dot menu and Turn Off sharing if it is okay to disable it for everybody (this is probably the most straightforward and safest).
You could also Block his user by navigating to his photo and "Block user" from the 3 dot menu. This MIGHT also block him in Hangouts (if you still are occasionally in touch). More info:
Good luck!

Hi Tawab,
Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!
What you are trying to install is definitely NOT Google Photos.
If you want Google Photos, search for "Google Photos" in the Play Store and look for the multi-colored pinwheel icon.
Good luck!

Hi Tawab,
Welcome back to the Google Photos Product Help Forum.
This is a problem with the Playstore (as you can see because it evidently happens for different apps).
Here is a relevant post from the Playstore support forum. There are additional articles which you can find with a Google Search, but some of those seem to be selling utility apps which you probably don't need.
If you continue to have issues after trying the above, you might look at these:Mukil Elango said:Hi Mohd,You can try these to get your issue resolved.Method 1: (Clear Cache)Go to Settings > Apps > Play Store > Clear Cache & DataTry downloading app. If problem exists, proceed to method 2.Method 2: (Unmount SD card)Go to Settings > Storage > Unmount SD cardTry downloading the app now. If it goes without error, you can then mount your SD card by Settings > Storage > Re-mount SD cardIf error exists proceed to method 3.Method 3: (Uninstall updates for Google Play Store)Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Uninstall UpdatesTry downloading the app.If nothing works, you can contact the Google Play Support. They would definitely help you out.Cheers,Mukil

Hi there
Welcome to the Google Photos Support Community.
There isn't an option to delete the back up but keep the device copy in Google Photos at the moment.
We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. I recommend sending this as a feedback to our product team directly. Here's how you can do so:
- Open Google Photos and make sure you're signed in.
- In the top left, click Menu.
- Click Send feedback.
- Click Submit.
As a workaround, you can turn OFF auto back up of images, and manually back up or delete only those images you want backed up or deleted locally. This requires a lot more work and caution on your part to not delete images you wanted backed up, so be careful.
Here's a help article you can refer to - Steps to send us feedback.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Amanda

Answer:
Hello Trinette,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Support Community.
You can group the faces manually. You can just click in the face of a person and "tag" it. Here's a help article to know more about labeling your face group.
Have you tagged/labelled her photo in the 'People' section of Google Photos? If no, here's how you can do it:
To apply label manually:
- At the top of a person's face group, click "Who's this?"
- Enter a name or nickname. Now you'll be able to search with that label using the search box.
Note: Only you will see the private face labels you choose, even if you share those photos.
To change or remove label:
- At the top right of someone's face group, click More
, then Edit name label or Remove name label.
Know what 'remove results' option is for:
If you see a photo that's in the wrong group, you can take it out.
- Open the group you want to remove something from.
- Select the photo you want to remove.
- At the top right, click More
, then Remove results.
Meanwhile, Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Photos app on your iOS device to check is this sorts the issue. Also, could you try toggling the switch off & then on for face grouping in Google Photos?
- Go to Google Photos app> Settings > Group similar faces> Face grouping.
Note: This will not delete the photo or video from your Google Photos library. Here's a help article for your reference to know more about face grouping and adding a label. Facial recognition feature isn't restricted to region specific. Here's a help article to more on how to use it.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I uninstalled app, and reinstalled it. However, because it is doing the same thing on my Chromebook, I doubt that had anything to do with anything. She did not reappear when I reinstalled the app.
I turned off grouping and turned it back on. Not clear to me if I am now supposed to wait to see if something happens. She did not reappear under People.
I don't understand how I can manually tag a photo. She is not showing up under People because I previously went through and added her, confirmed it was her, merged her baby photos to her, etc.

Thanks for writing back.
Please give the below steps a try in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
- Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos (photos.google.com) with the same Google Account.
- Try Incognito/private window.
- Disable extensions/add-ons/plug-ins.
- Try a different browser to see if it is a browser related issue.

There seems to be an issue when the "feature photo" is deleted. From different posts I read:
- These people are still searchable, but not listed in the people section. "When I search on her name a triangle with and exclamation point appears where her face should be".
- Adding a new feature (or cover) photo (open a photo, 3-dots > use as feature photo) often fails ("... could not be changed"), but when it succeeds the issue is solved.
Another user for which the person's face group came back:
"My son's face just come back, just few hours after I sent a feedback in app. I guess Google photos' technical person fix it for me manually, or the system just refreshed my account automatically."
"Another user draws the attention to the fact that faces can be hidden, but that suggests a former action (hiding the face) of the user. Most here seem to have another issue.

- Go to photos.google.com

Question: Can I get my photos back from a Gmail account I can't get back in
I don't know what to do
Hi Dawn,
Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum.
We are mostly user volunteers here, and have no access to accounts, etc.
Focus on succesfully getting into the account with a browser (rather than Mail App or Google Photos) - this might be less confusing.
This seems to be the most comprehensive source of data on recovery of Gmail addresses.
Excerpt:
Lost Password Recovery. The recover process can be started in either of two ways:
- Go to the Gmail sign in page at https://mail.google.com/ and after entering your e-mail address click the "Forgot password? link.
- Go directly to the start of the recovery process at https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
Try all possible recovery emails and recovery phones which you have access to. If possible, log into the recovery site from an IP address you have used previously.
Another thought, is that you MAY have saved your Google account password in the password management facility of a browser you don't use very often (Firefox, IE, Edge, Chrome...). If you think this is a possibility you might search ~password management~ with the name of the specific browser.
You might find more expertise on recovering accounts in the Gmail support forum.

Hello, What is the most painless option to move hundreds of albums, thousands of photos/videos from …
Hello,
What is the most painless option to move hundreds of albums, thousands of photos/videos from one Google Photos account to another?
My personal account, Google Account A is really, really old - on a legacy storage plan, and I'm running out of space. I use Google Account B with a G Suite subscription to store my work files and whatnot.
Realizing I had a ton of storage space via GSuite with Google Account B, I want to move my numerous photos/videos and albums from Google Account A to free up space on my personal account.
I tried downloading individual albums, but it is time consuming and it does not maintain the original album structure in the zip file. I have to download each album from Google Account A, upload the images to Google Account B, then re-create each album.
I've also tried sharing the library from Google Account A with Account B, but it again doesn't appear to maintain the album structure from Account A, instead just dumps everything into an unorganized mess in Google Photos of Account B.
I'm also leery of deleting the photos/videos to free up space from Account A after sharing everything with Account B, because the Help page that explains what happens when shared photos are edited or deleted is quite confusing. I'm worried I'll end up deleting things from everywhere because of the strange way Google syncs things.
- It is important that I maintain the original photo/video resolutions from Account A to Account B.
- The albums were created using Picasa back in the day, and some photos have captions, etc. It doesn't look like there's a way for me to maintain those caption through the migration, since Picasa is officially dunzo, right?
- If my best option is the shared library route, how do I go about it so I can delete everything from Account A and have it safely backed up in Account B?
Google sure doesn't make it easy. Even help files related to this issue from 2017 are out of date, so I want to make sure I don't screw anything up.
Thank you in advance.
Tara

I tried to place an order for the Photo Book using : https://photos.app.goo.gl/FiHolidays18 (an offer I was given on my Google Fi phone). But when I go to pick the album, I get this pop-up message saying "Photo Books are not currently available in this region (India)". Well.. maybe I had created my account more than a decade back when I was living in India. But I am currently in the US (Why else would I be given this offer in the first place???). I can't find a way to edit this fact any place in my profile or settings. So basically..it appears my profile is locked in with India since it was probably created there and I don't have a way to change it. Please let me know how to go about changing it and placing an order for the photo book through this offer.

Answer:
For friends who are searching for photo-book printing in India, you may use https://www.binder.co.in to make your books. You can easily layout your photographs using the online editor - no design knowledge required. The printed books are of really high quality. All books are hardbound, available in small, medium and large sizes and are printed on high quality imported paper that has a matte finish. You can make your book in minutes, once you order, the books reach you within 4 days in any city in India. The service is specially used by amateur and professional photographers, artists, et al. I think they may also be shipping photobooks to the US now.
Answer:
Hi, I'm facing the same issue. I don't want to change my location for this. Why is it not supported to send the photobook to an address in a country where this service is available? In my case, I'm an expat and my home country is on the list of supported countries (yet the one I'm working in is not). Why make it so hard for people like us to ship to a different country than the one our account is currently linked to? Limiting people to a single location doesn't make sense in this day and age.

Answer:
Hello TaraDe,
Thanks for stopping by the Google Photos Support Community.
If the account is different, then you'll have to download all the photos from the old account to your device and the upload them to your new account.
you can always download the backed up Google Photos photos back to your device and it's a huge amount of photos and videos to download, you can use google.com/takeout to export your data, you will have to extract the archive and manually transfer to a different account or download it to your device or external storage device and then upload them to the other account.
You could use takeout via your mobile device as well, but you may have to source a program to decompress the archive and you also need to ensure you have enough space on the device to fit your entire library. By doing this, the photos from cloud will get downloaded to your phone.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Amanda

I created a shared album for a family vacation where we had 1 camera and 3 phones adding content. The problem is that 2 of the cell phones didn't update to the correct time zone now I have some photos out of alignment. Photos in the shared album reflect the user that uploaded them. My question is, is it possible to search by a specific user inside the shared album and batch change the date to fall in line to with what it should be. Thanks.
Answer:
@Angus
Very good question. I think that you cannot search in a shared album, but even if you could (you can select them one by one), I am pretty sure that you cannot edit date/time of the photos added by others.
I see two options:
- Ask the 2 owners of the photos with the incorrect time to adjust date/time. Since in the collaborative album you see the photos as stored in the owner's account, that should solve the issue (note that I did not check this).
- Or add all the photos in the collaborative album to a new album. That will automatically also add all photos to your library, so that you can change date/time of all photos. I recommend this method. Only drawback (if you find that important): all names disappear from the album.
Answer:
I was thinking it wouldn't be possible. I tried a few different ways an saw nothing online after a quick online search. The photos they did take are only about 150 in total so not the biggest of tasks. I'll see if I can change the time stamp by hand from their account.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Patience,
Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum.
That is strange. The first thing that I would suspect is that there are Quality of Service (QOS) setting in the router which are set inappropriately. If you have a housemate or family member who tends to tweak stuff, check with them. Otherwise, search for your router model number and QOS and see if you find any information.
For general information: https://www.pcworld.com/article/2689995/quality-of-service-explained-how-routers-with-strong-qos-make-better-home-networks.html
If you have more than one router or a router and different type of access point, there may be setting on either device.
If you are on DSL or other limited capacity network that may be related, but it is particularly strange that the problem lasts for more than 15 minutes.
Does the problem only occur when you are connecting and uploading photos and particularly videos?
What types of speed do you see from: http://www.speedtest.net/
What router(s) / access points are you using?
How long has this been occurring?
Best regards, Dougsap (volunteer Google Photos user)

I purchased a pixel 2xl at launch and have the unlimited original quality photos synced to Google photos. I also let my previous Nexus 6P upload at original quality, which has taken up drive space. IF I hit recover storage, will it Downsize my Nexus 6P photos AND all current 2XL photos to high quality, or will the 2XL photos that are sync'd remain at original since they have unlimited storage?
Answer:
Basically these albums are visible in the archive that Google left after closing Picasaweb. So it depends on the owners if these archives still are accessible.
If so, they also should be accessible by you.
What happens if you try to open such a link when being logged-in with the Google-account you may have used in the past?Answer:

Reading back the Google-information around the closure of Picasaweb (August 2016), it was stated that these type of links will not work anymore:
- Links to photos, albums, and Public Galleries whose URLs use your username (and not your user ID number).
So if your links start with https://picasaweb.google.com/fakename/.............. it is logical that you get a 404-error - even being logged-in correctly. They should start with https://picasaweb.google.com/1008502xxxxxxxxxxxx and then they will be automatically converted into https://get.google.com/albumarchive/1008502xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I am afraid you need to contact the original owners - at least to the most important one's.

Answer:
Okay Arun
Just for the record: I found back a normal album link send to a friend in 2012 and that looks like:
Where xxx is my username (a fakename was allowed) and yyy is the album name without spaces. The authkey has something to do with the visibility of the album: public or non-public. In this case "visible to anyone who has the link". And that friend got that link by mail - not you :-)
Even if that did try this link now, he would not succeed because of that xxx problem.
In 2013 I upgraded my account to G+ and if had send a link to the same album to the same friend then xxx would have been replaced by my 21-digit Google-ID. And then that friend would have had no problem to open the album in my Google archive assuming that he was logged-in with the account he used in 2013 just because it was no public album. Then the only problem could have been that I did remove that album in meantime (and that has happened indeed).
Your example link looks quite different and I don't recognize it as a normal link send by mail, but just picked-up by you from a public site or blog created by the "anoomenon" showing some Picasa-album or a single picture taken from some Picasa-album. So that makes the chance even lower hat you ever will succeed to get access again.
Hard to say more about, but such discussions are in fact very old.
And it is even more difficult to follow all Google-moves from Picasaweb to Google+ Photos and finally to Google Photos, all with overlapping periods.
Nevertheless I never have lost any picture since 2007, so I can't blame them :-)
Have a nice weekend / Rinus

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Chicago with friends on Monday. I'm guessing at the number but I probably took 100+ maybe 200+ photos with my Pixel 3 XL phone. We all created a shared album on Google Photos to put all our photos in and we did. After adding to the album, I went to my Photos app on the phone, went to Photos at the bottom, selected all for February which included the Chicago photos, and chose delete. A prompt came up asking if I wanted to delete forever or something similar to that and I said yes. Now the photos are gone from my Photos folder AND from the shared album we created. Every time I open the Photos app on my phone it shows "Backup complete" at the top and I confirmed with Pixel support this evening that I have sync turned on for photos.

This was actually answered in your first thread on the subject. The photos from your 2XL will NOT be reduced in size (I originally told you they would but Jan sorted me out on that - my bad) and the photos on your phone will remain untouched. Only the photos from the 6P online will be compressed.

Hi Grace B 2002!
If you are looking for your files that have been upoaded from another device, then first of all you need to check: do you use the same account, or do you already have a different account on the new device? The fact is that if the accounts are different, then your photos may be in the other account, and you need to log in to the previous account.

Hi Bryan,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum!
Don't use the Garbage Can to remove images from your phone (unless you want to permanently delete them everywhere) - Use "Free up space" to remove the local copy on uploaded images.
and this one on "Free up space".
The good news, is that if you saw the "Backup complete" message, your photos should be available in "Trash" from the 3 line menu or https://photos.google.com/u/0/trash and you should be able to Select and Restore them from there (but not necessarily to the Album, I believe they will need to be re-added).

Answer:
Thanks for the response.
That doesn't make much sense to me. When I think of removing photos, or other items for that matter, from my device, I don't think about "Free up space." I think about delete/remove from my device. In my opinion that is a very poor set up by Google. I've had other phones before that didn't require me to hit anything other than delete after backing up photos and files.
The photos are not available in the trash can and restore options. I checked there myself and with Pixel support this evening. I also confirmed with Pixel support that my back up/sync options were and are still on. If I open my Photos app right now it will say "Backup complete" at the top just like all the other times, yet my photos are gone. They are not even in the shared album on Google Photos. They are completely gone as if they never existed.
This is the second time this has happened to me. I just lost my Chicago photos and I previously lost a ton of photos from a Europe trip.
I had a first generation Pixel XL that I didn't like. I thought surely the Pixel 3 XL will be better so I got this one. Wrong. I'll never use another Google phone or storage service again because of this.
Answer:
Hi Bryan,
Sorry for your loss.
If you already checked the Trash and spoke with Pixel Support, I really don't have anything that is likely to recover your images.
However, I strongly recommend:
- You take some test photos and exercise all related functions until you are comfortable with how they are or are not working. I don't have access to a Pixel phone, but have never had an issue with normal functionality on previous Android phones and Google Photos.
- NEVER use the Garbage can unless you are absolutely positive you never want the image.
- For irreplaceable photos (births, weddings, trips to Europe or Chicago) extract them from Google Photos to another source prior to "Freeing up space". I do this for external backup.
- If you don't do #3, at least have a partner, friend, etc. "Add to library" (cloud with down arrow icon) images from shared albums (this is not bulletproof but PROBABLY would have given you a recovery path with your problem depending on timing).

The behavior I experienced was after taking a few photos, I tried to make a few edits. Google photos started spinning and I had to close the app. I lost some very special pictures! What the heck?
Answer:
Hi Bryan,
Sorry for your loss.

Hi Bryan,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum!
Good luck!

Question: Someone else's photos are showing up with my photos how do I block them if I don't know them
I just want these other photos to stop appearing with mine I just want to block the person
Hi,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos community.
Has someone shared an photos with you or are you sharing an account with someone else? This could be why the photos are showing up. Photos cannot be shared in Google Photos unless you explicitly share them or accept a share invitation from someone.
Let me know what you find out.

Question: My album with 888 pictures was deleted from my gallery and now i cant find them anywhere
I'm trying to get my photos back ui
Nothing gets deleted automatically unless you did delete the originals in your library by thinking that they are not needed anylonger.
However: the Gallery shows no albums created in Google Photos - that also may cause be your confusion.
So without any further information about your behavior we can't solve your problem.
And it also maybe unsolvable hélas.
No Google here either.

Backup & Sync is ON, so I deleted photos from my camera gallery because my memory was full, checked back to Google Photos, and they are GONE! The trash bin is empty. How is this possible? I thought backup and sync kept my photos? Is there any way to recover them??
Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos community.
It is possible that your photos have been lost. Google Photos sync's your photos online but acts a bit like a mirror as to what is on your phone. If you delete the photo on your phone, you delete it in Google Photos too. In the future, try to use the Free up space feature in Google Photos. This deletes the local copy of the photo on your phone but keeps the online copy safe.
Have you tried to look in the Trash folder of the Gallery app on your phone to see if they are there?
Sorry I don't have better news on this one.

Hello,
According to https://twitter.com/googlephotos/status/1164655519191068672, Google Photos now uses OCR to identify text in photos to allow you to search your collection of photos for that text.
This amazing feature works really well, but only a subset of my photos are being OCR-ed and can be searched in this way. I'm not entirely sure which photos have been OCR-ed, but it appears that newer photos (up to around 2017) in my collection can be searched in this way, but not older photos.
If I select an older photo using the Android app and tap the "Google Lens" button, I am able to get the app to OCR the text. However, that text still doesn't end up into the database that Google Photos uses to search through my collection of photos.
Is this OCR-enabled search feature something that will roll out over time to more and more photos? Or is it limited to a certain number of photos in my collection?

Other words i tested for, not so much. Document header sized font, 16-20pt black against white letter document.
I have tried this a few times and wouldn't replace a good doc name, folder and tags).... which is why i hoping this would work, would save having to enter that yourself for future access.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos community.
You could try to clear the app's data and see if that sorts it out. Go to Settings>Apps>Photos>Storage and press the Clear Data button. Don't worry, your photos won't be deleted. Restart the app and let it re-sync and see if that fixes it.
Hope this helps,
Clinton

Hi Amy,
Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!
Each Album in Google Photos is unique. When you share a specific album it does not share others. Don't mix pictures of your baby with pictures you don't want to share with others.
If you use a Shared Library that is a different animal. That shares basically everything (this is a bit of an oversimplification, but view it that way). But it is only possible to use a Shared Library with one person (it is probably more appropriate for an intimate partner rather than mother or niece).
But remember, once you share something with somebody, they can ALWAYS copy the images and usually be able to reshare the album.

Hi Amy,
I just had another thought.
Rather than placing potentially embarrassing images in an Album at all, if you aren't making extensive use of the Archive function, it will ~Hide~ images from the "Photos" view. THey can be found at "Archive" on the 3 line menu or at https://photos.google.com/u/0/archive

So is there anyway I can put a lock on an album or any single photos. Thanks for your time

"Is there anyway I can put a lock on an album or any single photos."
Short answer: NO
On Android you could add a file .nomedia so that the whole folder is ignored by most apps. You can still see the photos when viewing in a file manager. See this link.
